So, I've written two reviews previously on Yelp about Frankly Pizza and both times, my rating was four stars. They're getting five stars now, Frankly Pizza seriously upped their game. Enjoyed pizza with my relatives and Frankly Pizza was around the corner from where my aunt lives. It's a nice small place with atmosphere. Ordered the Special, the Fresh Mozzarella Margherita. My aunt would have ordered the same with mushrooms, but for some reason (which I really don't understand) they don't allow that Special to have toppings, so she selected the regular Margherita with Mushrooms. Everyone received an individual pie. It looked and was so delicious, I took a bite before I took a pic! The wood-burning brick oven certainly provided a nice finish to the crust. Only comment, our parking spot out front didn't allow easy access for her to pass through to the car with her walker. Anyway, would definitely recommend Frankly Pizza. read more

Great spot for pizza in the neighborhood- everything is fresh and delicious and the service is always really thoughtful. If you can book a reservation I'd highly recommend it, but the wait can be pretty fast. If you've got little kids take them to the park across the street to pass the time. We always like their sodas too which are great flavors and the salads are simple and light on dressing, in a good way. we've also enjoyed their bread with dipping sauces that's a must try read more

Wow! Double Wow! Triple Wow! Best gluten free pizza I have ever eaten. It was legit. You have to reserve your gluten free pizza dough ahead of time and make a separate dining delete reservation. Totally worth it! the homemade soda was great and our salad was simple and delicious. Not a big menu but they are making what they have perfect! Service was stellar! The place was packed and hopping. Me and my wife are from Baltimore city, but we've been to Frankly a handful of times because my wife is gluten sensitive and they have probably the best gluten free pizza around. You need to call 24 hours in advance for the gf pizza. The staff is super friendly and the space is cozy and warm. The host greeted me warmly and when he asked me the name on the reservation, he knew right away we requested a gf pizza. I got the meatball pizza (non gf) and asked our waitress if they could make our pizzas with less char. Unfortunately, there was more char on my pizza than I like, and on our way out I saw a table whose pizza didn't have any char. Regardless, the flavors were very good and I enjoyed it. I just avoided the crust, which I usually eat. My wife enjoyed her pizza as well. We will be back because it's always a great experience. read more

Kensington has a lot of great hidden spots. Frankly's was a good experience. The waitress was really friendly and the staff was extremely nice. The pizza crust was soft and good. Similar to a 2 Amy's for those that have had it in the city. They do have pizza choices already built for you. The best advice I can give is to do the create your own. My wife and I made alterations to suggested pizzas like adding arugula to the mushroom pizza or me adding jalapeños to the sausage and peppers. I wish I just got a pepperoni and sausage. First thing getting pizza here in Kensington. Located near the antique row, it's a really nice and cozy spot. We sat inside but there is seating outside. Our server was nice, and got us seated quickly. We ordered the fresh mozzarella margharita and mushroom pizza. You can the wood fire oven and smell the amazing pizza! The pizza tastes really good! The crust is crispy and seasoned really well. We also got their homemade ginger soda which paired really well with the meal. I like this place and come here a lot but there are some caveats: - There's only pickup, no delivery. That's not a bad thing. - Don't order right before opening. I've noticed sometimes their pizzas are not as good at this time. - If you order too near to closing, you might not get anything. - The indoor section of the restaurant is tiny so you'll probably end up sitting outside if you don't have a reservation. Overall the results have been consistent, service has been very good, and it can be slow to get you a pizza, but they are mostly on target when they give you an estimate. Fortunately there are some other shops in the area you can visit while you wait. read more

Really cute place, amazing and attentive service. I'd recommend making a reservation, as they have interesting hours, and it gets pretty busy as soon as they open. The inside is pretty small, but there's a nice outdoor seating area as well. Only a few parking spots right in front, but lots of parking in the area within walking distance. Went with a friend, and we got the rosemary focaccia, the Margherita pizza on the specials menu, and the mushroom white pizza. Delicious!!! The focaccia was nice and flavorful, and came straight from the brick oven. It was quite oily, (and comes with a delicious side of olive oil for dipping) so if that's not your jam, I'd skip it. The pizzas were so flavorful and once again, came straight from the brick oven. Nice crispy crust, and incredible flavor. The mushroom pie was my favorite of the two-- I highly recommend. I was familiar with Frankly since June 2016 when I went to a Fox 5 Zip Trip in Kensington and got a sample of the pizza and thought it was good. This was a 3rd date out of 4 total from December 2021 to May 2023. She was always very busy with her 2 jobs, etc., but let's be honest very busy = Friend zone. I think she got slightly annoyed with my questions to server about menu. I believe I got the Arugula salad as a starter & mushroom pizza. Pizzas are individual size. Prices are comparable to other similar pizzas. These are brick oven style. Let's be Frank, as they are all about the Pizza, with an exclamation point, which I frankly think exclamation is dumb for a business except I like for Yahoo!, but that is one exception, the pizza is decent but overrated. Well, I have found my favorite pizza place in the DMV. My friend who is a genius at finding hole in the wall places that serve amazing food brought me here, and the food and ambience were so perfect that I was back very soon with my family. The pizzas are crafted in the Neapolitan style, and almost everything (including the doughs, breads, sauces, and even the sausages) were all made in the house. The cheese and olive oil are high-quality and imported from Europe. And of course the pies are cooked to perfection in the brick oven. The rosemary focaccia we had was perfectly baked and the paired olive oil had a spicy, beautiful flavor. We had to save the extra olive oil to drizzle on our pizzas. We had a red pie and a white pie, and both had fresh ingredients and were seasoned perfectly. And of course came out freshly baked and hot. Service was friendly. You could tell the servers really love the menu. Everything was very reasonably priced. The restaurant was small and packed, with a nice outdoor area (with heating lamps available) and an indoor dining room. Definitely make a reservation online ahead of time. Limited parking in front of the pizza place or in front of the neighboring stores. Just a perfect neighborhood place that serves amazing pizza. Don't miss it. read more

Do I recommend this place? Yes, yes, and 1000 times yes! I knew the minute I saw Anthony Bourdain's picture hanging up on their wall that they meant business. I was able to try the margarita pizza and the pepperoni pizza and they were both extremely delicious. And reminded me of fresh New York Pizza. The margarita pizza was one of their specials that actually had the mozzarella chunks melted and I don't think I can ever go back to it any other type of margarita pizza. This place is an absolute must try. Service was exceptional. The ambience was very warm and inviting. They had a beautiful outdoor seating which was nice because the weather was beautiful when I went and I really enjoyed the location. The neighborhood is located in is really nice and after I had the pizza I was able to just walk around. We drove right by Frankly Pizza twice without seeing it. But once we walked inside on a Sunday evening, we were shocked by the crowd. A 45 minute wait - reservations would have been a good idea. The restaurant is packed with locals, not too fancy, lots of families, couples, and older folks. Frankly Pizzas are good, with chewy crusts blackened by the oven. Everything is made from scratch. We split the burrata, a perfectly dressed arugula salad, and a sausage and pepper pizza. The burrata was covered with a thin layer of tomato sauce - very pretty, but I would have preferred something with a little acid. Our pizza could have used another minute in the oven, and we found ourselves looking enviously at the pizzas on the next table, all blistered and crusty. We also thought the sauce on our pizza was a bit too sweet. But we are New Yorkers and very picky about our pizza! Frankly Pizzas are great. Limited wines by the glass were fairly priced. Reservations are recommended even on weekdays due to space, but they do allow walk-ins. They have indoor and outdoor seating. There are only four parking spots in front of the restaurant, with street parking in the surrounding area. They also offer gluten free pizza (advanced notice required). I work near Wheaton and always have heard about this place from people I work with. This is probably one of the best pizza places in the DMV area. My only complaint is the size of the pizzas is small for the price ...but the quality is so good and the flavors are on point. We got the margarita, mushroom, and meatball pizza. I enjoyed each flavor, but my favorite was the mushroom pizza, which is a white pie. The texture of the crust was chewy and soft with some charred/bubbly spots. Excellent experience from the start. We went with our son and his fiancé to this charming little restaurant last night in the wind and sub-zero wind chill. Luke was our server and was outstanding. Their site does state a 1 1/2-hour time limit for table reservations, and I think we were ok on that front. It is nice to be able to sit and chat if you haven't seen someone in a while; however, due to its size it's smart to set the time expectation so that others can also enjoy the atmosphere, food, and service! I don't think you can go wrong on anything you order. They've smartly kept the menu limited but they knock everything out of the park. We all shared the available appetizers - Burrata, Focaccia, and Winter Brussels Sprouts Salad. We sampled the pizzas we all ordered, and shared 2 desserts: the Triple Chocolate Flourless Brownie and a Lemon Tart. Everything from service to apps to dessert was absolutely squisito! If we would offer any suggestions, we'd add an after-dinner espresso - or my preference - an Affogato. THAT would be perfection. It's a bit pricey but WELL worth the trip and money. This is a cool, quaint location. The service was great. The place was clean. I love wood fired pizza and it did not disappoint. I got the white garlic pizza. My kid got the pepperoni and seemed to like it. I was a little disappointed they did not have name brand diet soda but they have their own soda. No diet though. I'm sure you've heard this one before. But quite frankly... this pizza is delicious. I know, I know... I'm late to the party. But I literally have a chart in my kitchen that has a pic of pizza from a bunch of local DMV spots. and Frankly is in there, but I had not made it there until today. There are two separate entrances depending on what you want. The left side is carryout orders, and the right side is dine-in. If I had time, I definitely would've dined in, as the space looks nice, but I ordered to go. When you walk in on the carryout side, there are no places to sit, but a long counter where pizza orders are lined up, along with the register and menus, are to your right. And you can see the oven in the back! The two friendly staff welcomed me, knowing it was my first time after asking. And we chatted a bit and I ordered the pepperoni. It was done in about 10 minutes (I think... I stepped out for a bit and it was ready when I got back), I put it in an insulated bag and took it home. I love everything about the pizza. The crust was nice and had charred spots, and the sauce and cheese were good... but that pepperoni gave everything a nice kick. Whew! And while it was like a 12" pie, they only cut it in 4 slices, so they were wide and foldable. Very tasty! I would like to try their arugula salad, white pies, and their desserts in the future. I have only done carry out here but their pizza is always a hit! I think at this point I've had nearly everything on the menu and haven't had one yet that I didn't like! I wish they were a little more liberal with their toppings- I feel like often i get a slice that has half a piece of something on it but that's it. If I'm paying $18 for a personal sized pizza, there better be a piece of that house made bacon on every slice. Their toppings really are delicious, just sparce. Love their crust and I imagine it's even better if you get it AT the restaurant. Growing up in Olney, I remember looking forward to getting Frankly Pizza at the farmer's market each weekend. Last night, my husband and I visited the restaurant for the first time in 10 years and we were so happy to feel like not much had changed. The pizza and dough were delicious as ever and the staff were incredibly kind. I forget our server's name, but he was excellent, and recommended the spinach pizza with chili oil which was SO good. I was really excited to try this pizza fresh since I had ordered takeout from here multiple times during COVID since I used to live close by. Unfortunately it was super packed and the wait time was over an hour... and with a one year old kid there was no way we would have made it. We ordered the pizza as takeout and we were going to just eat outside at the nearby park's picnic tables. After we paid, the staff let us know that they actually just had a cancellation and they would be able to accommodate our party immediately. The staff were kind enough to switch our takeout order to dine in and seat us immediately. We ordered multiple pizzas to share as a table. - Entree Arugula Salad - Very fresh and perfect to share as a light appetizer - Porky Marge - The house made bacon was delicious and luckily they do not skimp! - Sausage & Peppers - The sausage was very flavorful, but I was not a huge fan of the roasted bell peppers... they ended up being really soggy and didn't add to the pizza - Margherita - This was my favorite pizza of the bunch! The ingredients were so fresh, well proportioned and cooked to perfection. This past week me and my family came to enjoy some pizza. As native New Yorkers we know a thing or two about good pizza so we decided to try. Let's start with the service. Before coming I noticed that indoor seating was limited so I proceeded to make a reservation. We were a couple mins late for the reservation, but no worries there is a grace period. As we arrived, I was glad I reserved a table, however, when the hostess walked us to our table before we could even sit down she told us that we would have to leave by 6pm because another group was coming. This was totally DISTASTEFUL and NOT a good first impression. She could have at least waited for us to sit down and get our food first or let us know when we had 30 mins remaining. We left around 5:30pm anyways so it was very unnecessary. Not to mention our server gave us the check before we even asked for it. I understand that with limited seating and a 90 min limit they want to get folks in and out, BUT there is a more inviting, professional and pleasant way to do this. Lastly, the pizza was tasty, but it was very flimsy and the bottom could not support the weight of the toppings. I prefer my pizza to have a sturdier bottom. We stopped in here on a Friday night with no reservation and got lucky to have two seats at the bar. I will say the barstools have no backs and the bar leaves no room for your knees so not the most comfortable spot. *tip* Make a reservation!!! Staff seemed busy but the tables didn't seem rushed. I ordered a house made lemon lime soda that was actually really delicious! Husband ordered a beer. Our pizzas took a while to be served. The pizza was good, I think the amount of sausage might have been overkill since the Neapolitan crust didn't stand a chance at holding it up but the crust was perfect. And the sauce had a littttttle bit of a slow burn (along with all the red pepper flakes I added). I tend to be a pizza snob but I would absolutely stop here again if I was heading to the strathmore nearby. I saw the pepperoni pizza and had buyer's envy. The pepperoni had the nice little cups with the char on them. If we had had time I would have ordered dessert which also looked pretty good. Definitely worth a stop! read more
