Just to say that this place had THE BEST FOOD EVER is a major understatement. The pizza was to die for- the sauce and the cheese were like a dream! The greens in the Mediterranean salad were so fresh I wouldn't be surprised if they grew it on their roof or outback! They don't have the smallest menu I've ever seen,nor the biggest- Pizzas, Salads, Appetizers, sides, and drinks is about it. You should also try their secret Nutella dessert that's NOT on the menu! This restaurant is a little hard to find-it's in a courtyard off Route 308 (Market Street). Just go east of Route 9 and you'll see a sign for it on the north side of the street about a block down (after the Rhineback bank). Definitely will be back soon! read more

Visiting the area for the first time, we got some recommendations from locals who raved about Posto, so we decided to check it out for ourselves. We were definitely not disappointed! First of all, Chef Patrick is most welcoming (and looks so much like Johnny Depp that we were wondering if it was JD studying for a part!). He can also make a mean pizza! We're from CA and have eaten some excellent pizza, including at Mozza in LA and OC. This compares very favorably; in fact, it's better because you can really dig in and enjoy without that "overly full feeling" afterwards. We ordered a salad (Mediterranea) and 2 pizzas for the 3 of us and it was just perfect. We got the Mamma Mia (added mushrooms- wow!) and the Margherita (added garlic) and a few beers and it was a great meal. The crust is the way we like it: light but has enough body and balance and crispness. Our daughter eats gluten-free and however the chef makes the dough, it did not affect her at all. She can now go back and eat pizza again without worrying. By the way, we ate a gluten-free pizza crust at another place in town - it can't hold a candle to this place. Highly recommend! read more

Best pizza in the Hudson Valley. We were fans of Patrick when he owned Amedeo's down in Lagrange. When they moved up to Rhinebeck, my family and I were so disappointed as no pizza even came close to the pies we got here. With the opening of the Rhinebeck Public Market, we decided to take a trip up north. We stopped into Posto for a quick bite. With the first bite, I wished we hadn't. It had been about six months since I had these pizzas, and I was immediately reminded of what I have been missing. There is something about the crust, crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside, that is just heaven. And the flavor combinations are spot on. We had the Marino with sopressata and olives. Beyond the food, the service and atmosphere are awesome. Posto is run by the owner's entire family, and that is exactly how you feel...part of the family. If your looking for delivery or a slice, you can hit the long standing pizza place on Main Street. But, if you want to experience true artisan pizza, Posto is a must! read more

In a town where there are many places to get pizza, Posto should be recognized not only as the best pizza in Rhinebeck, but truly as one of the best pizzerias on the East coast. Fantastic! Having recently arrived from a vacation in Europe, I was sure that I would never find a pizza to compare with those in Naples - or anywhere in Italy. Let me tell you, I was wrong. Friends had recommended that I travel to Rhinebeck and to Pizzeria Posto (an hour away from my home) to savor the taste of Italy that I longed for. Since it is a long way to go for pizza, I was skeptical, but I tried it and was amazed! It was truly the only pizza I have had that rivals those that my family and I had in Naples. The crust is crispy and thin; the mozzarella was fresh and melted in your mouth; the caramelized onions (an add-on) were being made by the son of the lovely owners while I waited, and were delicious; the sauce was exactly like that in Italy, and the salad was perfect and enough for two. I will definitely be visiting Rhinebeck as often as I can just to eat at Pizzeria Posto. The ambiance is clean and crisp, and now they opened an outdoor area that overlooks a beautiful courtyard. This place has just amazing pizza and salad. They keep the menu simple, and the proprietor takes great pride in his work; when we were there he personally made the pizzas himself while carefully surveying the goings on in his restaurant. The pizza crust is very light and thin and just delicious. The tomato sauce is very light and doesn't overpower the other flavors; and the mozzarella is fresh. Perfectly cooked in wood burning brick oven. The spinach salad was fresh and delicious. The restaurant is in a quiet courtyard just off the main drag in this charming town. You will be glad you stopped in! We followed Pat, the proprietor, from his restaurant Amedeo's in LaGrangeville. Some of the best pizza ever and I come from the Bronx. Thin crust from a real wood fired brick oven. Unusual toppings and a pride of ownership and cuisine from Patrick (he is Italian) the chef/proprietor. The menu is limited and the pies are just a little pricey. The restaurant is clean and comfortable and the wait staff is friendly and efficient. There are many other restaurants in Rhinebeck and the others I've eaten in were also top notch, but for pizza, I would not go anywhere but Pizzeria Posto. It's no BS as to why this place gets so many good marks. The wood fire flavor comes through with each bite. All ingredients were fresh; the bread, the salad, everything on the pie. And while I'm a tomato sauce kind of guy, the Mama Mia pizza with the additional mushrooms and garlic made me want to exclaim, "Mama Mia! Dis iz soa good!" (Right. I'm not Italian.) The diversity of flavors likely explains why we had an elderly gentleman as well as a family with small children sitting near us. Sorry I was too full for Nutella themed dessert. Had dinner there last night and it was delicious. I got a Caesar salad which was delicious. The dressing was perfect with a slight anchovy flavor and lightly cheesy. The romaine was cut up in bite size pieces and the croutons were perfectly sized and crunchy. Next I had a pizza with. Fresh tasting tomato sauce, fresh melt in your mouth mozzarella and delicious cremini mushrooms, also fresh. The best part was the super thin crust. I love this place and can't wait to come back.
