Portions are very big and the Caesar salad is outstanding. The service was very friendly and the restaurant is very cozy. I can recommend it highly.

It was a wonderful, "old school" Italian American restaurant with some really awesome food (and service). Most everything we ordered was really tasty -- from appetizers all the way to dessert. Standouts included the Escargot and Burrata (apps), the Carbonara and Mushroom Fettuccine (entrées), and the Chocolate Torte and Tartufo (desserts). The only item I'd skip next time was the Manicotti. It was a bit too rich, and the duck wasn't very recognizable (overpowered by the other ingredients). As for service, it was really first rate! Our waiter was super knowledgeable about the menu and was very attentive. Final thoughts: If you're looking for a quiet, enjoyable experience, check out Trattoria. And don't be thrown off by the large footprint of the restaurant. I thought it would be buzzing and loud inside, but the interior is organized into a number of separate sections that make the dining experience feel more intimate.

The pizza crust was lighter than expecyed, a little bit more like focaccia than the pizza dough I'm used to in New York City. Still good, but not my favorite. The pastas we had were all wonderful. We had the seafood and mussels, the bolognese, and the pappardelle fungi. The pasta was clearly freshly made and had a nice spring to it. We started with the calamari appetizer, which was nice and light with a delicious lemon aioli sauce. It felt like the dish had more batter than actual calamari, which I did not prefer. I would have wanted more squid. Great service, lovely restaurant.

Before everyone arrived, I went in to ask if we could be accommodated. The first hostess said yes, as long as we split into two separate tables. Five minutes later when everyone arrived, another hostess refused to seat us, saying they couldn't accommodate relatively large groups on weekends. We explained that we were happy to split into two or three separate tables, with no more than 3-4 people at each table, and that no tables needed to be rearranged. The answer was still no. The biggest issue wasn't the policy--it was the way it was handled. The hostess rolled her eyes and treated us with a surprising lack of professionalism and respect. If this was truly the restaurant's policy, it should have been communicated consistently from the start and by all staff to all the other customers too. Our group has been dining together at restaurants around the area almost every day over the past few weeks, and we've never been treated this way anywhere else. We left and took our business elsewhere.

The manager and waitress were both very nice and welcoming. My negroni and food were amazing - started with the eggplant parm, which still had some bite but was creamy and well-cooked. It also came in a smooth roasted red pepper cream sauce. For my entree I had the lumache pasta with spicy ground sausage and the house red sauce. I also tried the focaccia with cacio pepe butter which was decadent. I'll definitely be back with friends!

The dining room, although very cool, is DANGEROUSLY hard to get to. It's down a DARK stairway w NO LIGHT!! The steps down were painted black and the walls were also dark! No lighting on the walls down!! We used our phone flash lights!! Maybe some yellow tape so it's possible to see the next step in front of you...??? I watched many folks stumble and trip their way down... an accident waiting to happen!! BUT... I am telling you , I got there and "alive".... OMG the food is amazing!! I so want to go again, but I am afraid!! It would only take a couple of wall lights, and maybe some yellow tape on the steps to make the descend into the restaurant easier. I'm hoping I can call... order food, and ask them to bring it up to the door. Otherwise... we older folks, are out of luck!!
