We visited Trattoria Delia during our first trip to Burlington two years ago and had an incredible experience, so naturally, we made reservations to return on this year's trip to Vermont. Unfortunately, I think this visit will be our last. Two years ago, we ordered their meats, and everything was phenomenal. This time, we decided to try their pastas, and it was a mistake. How an Italian restaurant of this caliber can mess up pasta is beyond me, but it was bad. My husband ordered the bucatini all'amatriciana (or maybe it was spaghetti?), and it was anything but amatriciana. The pasta was drowning in a tomato sauce that tasted like Chef Boyardee, the guanciale was barely noticeable, and the whole dish had an overly watery, acidic flavor. It was awful. I ordered the mushroom fettuccine, which was better but still not my favorite. They went way overboard with the cream, throwing off the balance completely. For dessert, we ordered affogato, but our waitress walked away so quickly we didn't even have a chance to specify whether we wanted it with amaro or limoncello. She didn't ask, either, and ended up bringing ice cream without any topping (which was supposed to be included) and with a lackluster presentation. To be fair, the appetizers were excellent. The duck confit and crostini topped with sardines were both perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. The price-to-portion ratio for the appetizers was also great, and we still loved the cozy, romantic ambiance of the restaurant. But there's no excuse for how disappointing the entrees were. For the price and reputation, we expected so much better.

A cute little Italian restaurant in downtown Burlington. The food is good and the service was fantastic. You can reserve on resy. I wish the prices were a bit lower. Duck confit is the best!

The food and drinks were amazing. You could tell that the pasta was fresh along with all of the ingredients they used. Our waiter took very good care of us. And the restaurant itself was very quaint, rustic and dim. It was very lovely.

Food was fresh and on point. Food and service was top shelf. Nice place for an intimate dinner. We will be back!

Had a lovely dinner here. With dark wood and a fireplace, the ambiance, as others have said, is warm and cozy. The bread was some of the best bread I've had, and the butter mixed with parsley, rosemary, and a few other herbs was delicious. The ragu pasta was as well. Our waitress warned us that the lobster pasta was very "citrus-y," but we went ahead and ordered it despite the heads-up. In the end, it was too citrus-y and spicy. I don't particularly like Italian pasta dishes to be "spicy," so I would steer clear of this one. That being said, if they had a more traditional lobster pasta dish with white wine sauce or a garlic butter sauce I would absolutely go for it. Wish they did. The quality of the pasta was great -- fresh and al dente. Our waitress was personable, knowledgable, and responsible with allergy concerns. She also packed up an extra loaf of bread with our leftovers when we asked to take the bread on the table home (it was that good). Would highly recommend this place! Just avoid the lobster pasta if you don't like spicy pasta.

Halibut with a corn and zucchini broth. There was a pesto sauce. This may be the best halibut dish I've ever had.

I had a delicious dinner at the bar. Everything was great. This halibut dish is a masterclass in balanced, seasonal cooking. The fish is perfectly cooked. It was tender, flaky, and buttery, with a clean flavor that shines through. It was nestled in a velvety corn and zucchini broth that's both comforting and slightly sweet, with grilled zucchini adding a welcome earthy note. A beautiful and delicate pesto sauce on top brings a bright, herbaceous kick that ties everything together beautifully. Every bite feels intentional, layered, and deeply satisfying.

Excellent, quality, authentic Italian meal at this place. The dimly lit restaurant had the perfect lighting for a gorgeous ambiance. The manager was incredibly attentive and made sure that we were sat promptly and even asked us what kind of water we wanted as we sat down. This was a really nice touch to get the ball rolling and I want to commend this man on how he runs this place. Well done. Service was as good as can be expected nowadays, I do appreciate anyone who is willing to work nowadays, it just seems like no one wants to. We ordered 2 pasta dishes, Both different ragu and broccoli rabe to share. Flavor was excellent on all dishes, bread was warm and fresh, olive oil was on point, excellent! Dessert looked good too but we were too full this time. Next time! Stop in here for an exceptional Italian dining experience

Our first visit to Burlington VT, and happy to enjoy great restaurants, Trattoria Delia among them. The dining room is very casual and cozy, with warm and friendly service. Cocktails were top notch, and we found a good mix of traditional Italian dishes, but some with very interesting twists. We tried a delicious salad, which was not your standard green salad, but a mix of grains, cheese and apples that really did all work together. The home made gnocchi were also very good. Be sure to have a reservation, this and all the other restaurants in the area seemed very busy.

We were warmly greeted, and they inquired if we were there for a table/bar seating, or the retail shop. We sat at the bar, and there were other customers at tables enjoying a glass and engrossed in conversation. They offer a small snack menu, along with a selection of wines, and they have a good knowledge and will provide counsel on the options. We ordered the ricotta toast and the lonzo, a ham similar to prosciutto. Both were delicious! The lonzo comes with a drizzle of quality olive oil on top, and a sprinkle of salt, and a dab of mustard. The ricotta toast (no pic sorry) was also tasty. The space leans to industrial loft, but is warm and invites conversations and relaxation. The shop also has a retail space, and a monthly wine club subscription is an option. It is separated from the restaurant, but not a quirk of their shop, but archaic Vermont liquor laws. We decide to subscribe and picked up our first selections to take home.

Perfect accompaniments to each plate: lemon and garlic with the fish, cherry conserves with the cheese, etc... We'll be back again and again, with friends in tow.

We ordered the bread and butter which I originally felt was elevated pricing but we felt the butter made it worth it. Meatballs were good but not my favorite of all time. Loved the pasta dish. Also worth noting: I'm not convinced any other style of pizza exists in Vermont. If it's not artisanal, wood-fired, and served on a reclaimed barn board, it apparently doesn't make the cut. So naturally, my brain locked in and I ate pizza two nights in a row like a creature of habit. Night 1: Pizzeria Verità Parking was...aspirationally convenient. After navigating downtown Burlington, which feels like a live-action sociology thesis, I made it inside. Let's address the elephant in the room: the price. With tip, I dropped nearly $30 for what amounted to a personal-sized pepperoni pizza that politely declined to fill me up. I assume part of the cost goes toward sourcing ethically massaged tomatoes or ensuring the mozzarella had a fulfilling upbringing. Now, to be fair, the pizza was excellent. Truly. Great crust, quality ingredients, clearly crafted by someone who cares deeply about their art. But the value? That's where things get a little...Vermont. Delicious? Absolutely. Filling? Not quite. Financially efficient? Only if you measure wealth in vibes. I went in skeptical, left impressed, and still had to consider a second dinner.
