Special ( salmon with risotto and asparagus)
    Matt J.

Wow ....this restaurant was by far one of my favorites when visiting Stowe. Side note do not schedule a reservation on Yelp. You must call and give them at least two days advance or they will be booked up especially on the weekends. My party was lucky and was taken due to a cancellation. We are so happy we were bc all entrees were spectacular. The Salmon was good to perfection with a crispy skin. The risotto was unbelievable. The baked lasagna was heaven on a plate. The rigatoni vodka was my personal favorite. Lastly, the chicken carbonara was great and no peas!!!! Service was out of this world from the host to the waiter. Once again this is a 5 star restaurant worth every wait to eat at! Reservations are highly recommended.

Recommend getting a reservation but luckily they were able to get us in. Cozy setup. Loved the beams in the restaurant that helped open up the space. The pasta and bread was fantastic and has a great flavor. The garlic and shallot pizza was good as well.

Call ahead! We got lucky with our reservation. We had a resy for 8p but were seated at 7p since the table was still open. They have a lot to choose from. We had the fall salad with spinach, popa special pizza and pesto linguine. We were too stuffed for salad but the maple blondie sounded good! The restaurant was louder than expected. They have a bar where you can catch a game. They have a few booths and tables for a more romantic setting if you wish. It was too cold but their patio was cute too. I would add chicken to the pasta. Also chili flakes to the pizza. Cute little spot!

This spot came highly recommended all around and for our first visit to the area we knew we had to try it. We made reservations ahead of time and upon arrival it doesn't look like much but once you get to the entrance you are instantly charmed. It's unassuming old time charm hits the nail on the head for the area and ambiance. Service was consistently friendly and attentive although I do wish it had been a little warmer inside. As for the food we ordered the Fig & Prosciutto pesto crostini, ribeye and chicken Marsala. Both were equally tasty well sized portions. Overall, we enjoyed our experience at Salute and would definitely recommend and return.

While the food is decent, and service was good, consistency is lacking. Owners treat employees horribly according to the ones we spoke with... cleanliness could be improved. With so many local restaurants save your money - go to Harrison's or Trattoria la Festa... want good pizza go to Piecasso!

Decent food and service, too pricey for what was served. Lots of pasta and minimal ingredients. You don't know unless you try.

All come in cans except Heady Topper, which you can grab on draft from a refrigerated beer engine. I have to say, having it on draft is a magical experience. Their aluminum cups are quite cute and you can take them home. Food is from a truck. Jamaican food that can be quite overwhelming with salt and spice if you're not careful. The potatoes were especially good. They hold events on their website including Boogie Bingo which we attended on Thursday night. Great host with a very dry sense of humor. We come up to Vermont every year, and this will definitely become a regular spot for us. Cheers!

The brewery is on the outskirts of town. It is an attractive facility situated on a large property with picturesque views. It was a beautiful day and they have lots of outdoor activities (corn hole, frisbee golf, etc) so there were people everywhere! This is a family friendly brewery and there were lots of kids running around. What a great vibe! I had a hand pulled Heady Topper. The brewery is the only place on the planet you can get Heady Topper hand pulled. It was worth the trip. My wife had a can of Light. I should note that other than Heady Topper everything comes in a can. No draft options which also means no tasting flights. I found that odd, but I get it. Not a big deal and it won't impact my rating. If you are in the area you might want to check this place out.

We waited about 15 minutes for a table. Not bad at all!! Our server was energetic and accommodating. She cheerfully answered all our questions and honored our request to get a margherita pizza as an appetizer. The aforementioned pizza arrived in no time. It was good. Not the best ever, but still quite solid. The star of the culinary show was the salmon entree. Both my wife and I got it and we both loved it. It was a big piece of wood fired salmon and came with a nice assortment of roasted veggies. I'm talking real veggies--zucchini, broccoli, fingerling potatoes, the works. Neither one of us are big drinkers, but there are LOTS of microbrews on tap if you're into that kind of thing. The dining room was lively without being too noisy. Both of us enjoyed hanging out there. It would be a great place to have a beer and watch baseball on TV. Will definitely return the next time I'm in town.

The poutine was very good, but I'll grant you that it's maybe hard to get that wrong - but their gravy is on point! Service was great - got there around 5:40pm on a Wednesday, so the wait was non-existent and a table for 5 was easy to accommodate. Duncan was the server, who disclosed that he was new but you wouldn't know it from how he took orders and brought food out. Even threw him a curve by asking for the steak frites with an additional side of brussel sprouts, which he handled no problem - even though there weren't any sides I saw on the menu. Steak was medium rare and perfectly seasoned, and I think I mentioned the chimichurri but it deserves additional mention. Maybe you're wondering about beverages. The maple lemonade is great - it leans harder on the tart side and there are sweeter options around (Cliff House) but I love a lemonade that tastes... lemony. Pineapple cherry punch was also a hit - but that's secondhand hearsay, unlike my direct opinion on the chimichurri - which I would drink if I could. Definitely check this place out. The table near ours seemed to immensely enjoy their meal and also get great service from Duncan.

I could even see trying to talk mama into driving an hour if I really had a taste for some schnitzel. So rating Von Trapp a high 3 is based on an average evening where you're not sure what you want for dinner. As I've alluded to, it's German themed as it was founded by the family around which the Sound of Music was written. Our server was fantastic. She was the right balance of helpful and fun without dominating our experience. The outdoor patio is dog friendly and it's an overall comfortable environment. Most importantly, the beers were good. (We sampled them all.) They were again all German style, so if you're looking for a couple of NEIPAs or ESBs to pick from you won't find one.
