Based on delivery of chicken wings and a salad, it's edible, but that is all there is to say. The wings were decently spicy, but the chef salad came with the wrong dressing, dry cold cuts, and cucumber slices that had been cut for days. Gross. Love that they have vegan cheese! The pizza and calzones are tasty and delivery is usually pretty quick. We live pretty close by so have done both delivery and carryout orders. The pizza was good but the service SUCKS. The young lady who was managing the cash register had the worst attitude. I preordered a large pizza that my friend and I planned to eat on their patio. When I came back in the store to ask for plates and a fork, the employee snapped back demanding that we tell them we are eating in and that we are wasting a box. First of all, I did ask the person who took my order if there are tables where we can eat so it's obvious I was eating in. Second, you don't know how much of it I'm planning to eat or take home. Third, the cost of the box is built in to the price I paid for the damn pizza. And fourth, you do NOT speak to customers that way. Ordered the hunger buster pizza and some wings since my hotel didn't have room service past 10 PM, and my flight from the west coast got in at 11 and I hadn't eaten all day. At 11:30 on a Saturday night they quoted a 30 minute delivery time but got here closer to the 45 minute mark. That said, the pizza was great. Perfect ratio of sauce to cheese to toppings. Crust was awesome. Pizza arrived at a good temperature. Also ordered chicken wings and my only complaint was that the blue cheese dipping sauce came in a packet that made it very hard to use, and napkins and plates were not included. Price was very reasonable for what you get. I will definitely make this my pizza delivery place of choice in future trips to DC. read more

Came to pizzolis after another local restaurant and bar couldnt serve our group because they ran out of food (at 6 pm on inauguration weekend after the women's march). Ordered for delivery last night after being drawn in by the photos on yelp... and it was as good as it looks! They were fast to deliver and food was delicious! Keep in mind this isn't a major pizza chain, so the service is not machine-like (and I appreciate the small business charm). I had to bring up the payment type myself and mention that I'd like to pay by cc. I could see that tripping people up and upsetting them... but as a small business owner myself I will continue to support places like this! Pizzoli's is definitely my favorite pizzeria in DC! They offer a great variety of custom pizzas and savory sauces. We always order our pizzas "lightly baked" in order to really appreciate the delicious crust. We also use Pizzoli's for catering at my office. They are consistently prompt when we order for delivery. The pizza was OK, but it took an hour and half to get to me. I order around 2pm on a Sunday so it was not at peak time. The pizza was cold and I was told they were taking a dollar something off since they forgot one of the toppings. This is the best delivery pizza in the area. Their ingredients are organic and the pizzas are great. VERY vegetarian friendly. Very creative toppings (the roasted eggplant is particularly tasty). The subs are also solid: very fresh and you can add tons of toppings (including caramelized onions, sun dried tomatoes, roasted red peppers). Delivery has always been consistently fast. The wings aren't bad, either. The slices are solid, too, but I recommend the specialty pizzas. 5 stars because of taste, consistency, variety of toppings, and pizza quality. read more

The worst customer service I've seen in a while. I moved to the area recently and wanted to try Pizzoli's to see if I could make it my neighborhood pizza place. I went there despite having read mixed reviews here that pointed to bad customer service. First of all, I get there, and I am greeted by a lady in the kitchen who shouts the question of whether we have already order (I'm almost certain this was not preceded by "Hi" or "Welcome to Pizzoli's." I could not hear what she said so I asked her to kindly repeat herself, which she did. Then came the cashier girl, whose face was immediately telling of what was about to ensue. The girl in question gave us an attitude that we felt was trying to rush us to place our order, even though there was no one else in waiting in line. Since it was my first time at the place, I am trying to figure out the menu or what I could order, and I asked if I could order by the slice, to which she said yes, still with this attitude where she's making the customer feel like any question s/he asks is dumb. What followed was two or three minutes of awkwardness where the girl's body language told us that we were not welcome at the place, and that any question was followed by a response that could not hide the cashier's annoyance with us. We finally asked how much is each topping, to which the girl said it's $1.25 PER SLICE, at which point I had had it and we said we'd leave. We ordered fresh mozzarella and you gave us regular mozzarella. Probably an honest mistake, but you compounded that by lying to our faces and saying that there was both fresh and regular mozzarella. There were no fresh mozzarella clumps to be seen or tasted! Horrible customer service. Never coming here again. Ever. It's not that hard to please people at 2AM yet they managed to mess this up. Get it right the first time. If you dont, then correct it. And if not that, at least don't lie to your patrons. read more

I love this place. I have to say, I've noticed a difference between buying a whole versus a slice of pizza. I recommend a whole pizza. The crust is delicious - it has a nice chew to it. I don't know if I'd say it's NY good but for DC, it's one of the better ones. If you like Neapolitan style pizza, there are better choices. Staff has been pleasant every time I've been. We just had a bad delivery experience here. My pizza was actually really good (although somewhat cold by the time it arrived)- it had a nice thin crust and they have a great array of toppings to choose from. I got a thin crust pizza with spinach, ricotta, roasted garlic and portabellas. But here's where everything went downhill. First, the delivery guy made me come outside my building to pick up the order. Call me high maintenance, but most places deliver food right to your apartment...and it was cold out...and i was wearing pajamas. Then when we got our food, one pizza must have been dropped or placed on its side because half the cheese had slid off the pizza into the box. they also left off the tomatoes that come with their caesar salad. we called to tell them about the pizza and they did offer to send another but it took over an hour to get here. not sure if we will give this place another try... read more

If it wasn't so close I'd never give this place any money. The pizza is not terrible, but it's not very good. More often than not they screw up my order. I always do pickup via online order, and even after I get an email saying my order is ready I still usually have to wait an extra 10-20 minutes after I arrive. Sometimes they don't even start to make it until I come to pick it up. If you don't live nearby, don't eat here. read more

We were staying in a hotel near DuPont Circle and ordered pizza and pasta delivered. The hand tossed pizza crust was delicious! The Chicken Parmesan was excellent! We did ask for crushed peppers and Parmesan cheese to be delivered with our order and they weren't included. Pizzoli use to be much better. I'm not sure what has happened in the last several months but the place is going downhill. Whoever made my Margherita pizza tonight clearly doesn't know what a Margherita pizza is or how to make one. They put an extreme amount of sauce, no olive oil. Basil was burnt. No tomatoe slices and barely any cheese. This pizza is so bad. So disappointed. Prior to this order, they got my order totally wrong. I don't get this place. Decided to give it another shot since the pizza is great (the quality of the pizza saves this place from a one star review), but nothing has changed about the service. The girl working at the front has the same nasty attitude. She certainly doesn't act like she wants to be there, so why is she? I looked over other reviews to see if it was just me, but it seems to be a recurring theme. Is it that hard to find good help at the front of the restaurant?
