This is my life long favorite restaurant. They've switched owners/management a couple of times, but the vibes have always stayed pretty similar. It's American Italian food, very homestyle. My go-to order is the tortellini alfetta or the gnocchi. The tortellini alfetta is a garlic-y cream sauce with prawns. It has such a complex flavor and I've asked for more details on what is in the sauce but it is a secret! Their gnocchi is very soft and tender. It is clearly made in house. The new owner acts as the main server most of the nights. He checks in with every table many times.

Rock solid Southern, Italian-American fare here in a delightful setting. For old time classic like Parmesan and other red sauce drenched Italian favorites. Loved the Eggplant and Chicken parmigiana. The pizza is on point too !

my lady and i tried this out as we like to find hidden gems and it didn't disappoint. Cute and tidy area with a bunch of on street parking, we were seated right away and taken care of with excellent service. The food was amazing and the bread was to die for. We will definitely be back, i highly recommend this place, the flavor and atmosphere were great.

This place was close to our Airbnb when we were here on vacation so we walked over for dinner on our first night and really enjoyed it! It's a cute cozy little place with very good service and the pasta was delicious! I had the penne with meat sauce and my husband had the meat ravioli and we both had leftovers! Staff was very attentive! We really enjoyed the whole experience!

I tried the pizza here yesterday. It tasted like when you make pizza in preschool. They gotta up their game with the pizza.

Unfortunately the pizza we got wasn't good- the toppings and sauce were fine but the dough reminded me of an English muffin!

If you're someone who cooks, and has said recently that everywhere you eat it costs a ton and is just okay -- like, you can make better at home? Come here. Because with few exceptions, I don't think you can. I've been here three times now and two out of three times everything was perfect. Absolutely. Perfect. I've recommended it to others and heard similar back from them. I think it's one of the more exciting restaurants in Seattle, and while the observation about cramped quarters is spot-on, I would imagine they'll likely evolve beyond that venue at some point, and that will be a pity, because having them close by in Columbia City makes me very happy. So book the patio if you want shoulder or elbow room, and enjoy a meal al fresco. And yes, it's a more expensive place, portions are small. It's a fine dining approach, and I think that's fairly clear up front. If you want a big pile of slop somewhere, there are a ton of options to fill up more cheaply. But if you want demi-glace and pan sauces that are perfect -- PERFECT! And meats you might normally not find compelling, like rabbit livers and kidney and, well, offal -- suddenly made succulent and delectable, try this. The only thing I felt was sort of not worth the bucks was the rabbit skull. Just not much in it and getting to it was a semi-feral process. Everything else, including the delicious salads, has be exquisite. Love this place.

While the atmosphere is undeniably hip and trendy, the overall experience didn't justify the price tag. The food itself wasn't bad, but it lacked that "wow" factor. We tried several tapas-style dishes ranging from $20 to $50 each. The Farmer's Rice ($48) arrived in a small sauce pot, which felt underwhelming for the price. The octopus was overcooked, and the black cod was just a single, small piece. I was also disappointed by the Uni Butter Radish--the radishes were fresh, but I couldn't taste any uni at all. On a positive note, the broccolini and the potato with crab meat were the highlights of the night. Service was hit or miss. Our initial server was very kind, but the wine steward and the female server who followed were quite cold and dismissive. Bottom line: This isn't a place to go if you're looking to get full. It's better suited for a quick drink or a "pre-game" spot before heading elsewhere. The vibes are great, but the value for money isn't there.

A popular location, Barrels can fill up fast so I appreciate slipping in before or after the crowds but if the timing doesn't work out I'll buy a recommended bottle to-go. Josh is incredible. Unpretentious and very welcoming, Josh defies the typical wine connoisseur stereotype. He finds a moment to make sure everyone is attended to even on the busiest of evenings. His staff are also delightfully authentic people. They are equally welcoming and just real for lack of a better word. When I come here I'm treated with a warmth that I only experience at places I'm a regular but here they immediately engaged as though I've always been here. They joke, tell stories, and share laughter that puts me at ease. Barrels is a comfortable wine bar. I have eaten a few of their charcuterie boards and loved them all, but especially the one with this soft mystery cheese that is super spreadable. It is so good! But typically I come for the wine. I highly recommend!!

The former owners, Tina and Joe, created the kind of spot where you can enjoy a fantastic glass of wine and relax. Josh took over, increased the food menu and added a few different touches. There is now a privacy shield on the window if you sit in a lower seat so that car headlights don't shine in your face. There are games too if you are here with a friend or few friends. We had a reserved table, and the food was pretty good. It wasn't just bar food, but they 'had decent salads and a nice variety to choose from on their menu. The waitress was pleasant and served without being intrusive during the show. The Royal Room is really nice on the inside. They do a lot of swing and jazz there, but it's a pretty small venue. I'ld call it more comfortable than quaint. Parking was a total pita, but the sound mixer was on point and the music was clear for every instrument with nothing over-riding anything else unnecessarily.

One process improvement since I last came for a show here is that instead of having the host check…read moreevery person in and then lead them to their seat (if reserved), they now put up name placards on the tables and let you find your own seat so the host can keep checking people in. This makes the queue run MUCH more efficiently. However, overall this place has actually gotten worse since my last review. Now, if you make a reservation (necessary for guaranteeing a chair) for only 1 person, they seat you at a high top that faces AWAY from the stage. As in, literally your back is towards the stage. If you rotate your chair, you face an aisle between you and the stage. The aisle is supposed to remain clear, but there is no real way for the staff to keep the area clear from standing-room-only attendees other than nicely asking people to move, with varying success. The venue's suggested solution is a small bench to the side of the stage, which they say you're welcome to move to if you can't see. Problem is, it seats 4-5 people max (fewer if anyone is manspreading) and is open to anyone in the room. The tables are moveable, so at minimum the venue could point them towards the stage. Fwiw none of this is the restaurant /barstaff 's fault. If anything, they seemed to agree that this is not a good setup. (Don't want to go into specifics to avoid getting any employees into trouble) A second issue with the seating is that once you sit down, the staff removes the reservation cards. This means that if you're at one of the high tops, walk in guests will ask you to trade/move spots. Don't agree to move unless you're ok with possibly ending up with no seat at all because it may be that you end up sitting in a seat that was actually reserved by a different person, from which you will be removed when they arrive. It's then up to the person with whom you traded whether or not they're feeling charitable enough to cede back your original seat. Other than the seating problems, I'd give this a 3/5 for acoustics and sound design (accounting for the fact that it's a small converted venue) and a 4/5 for the food (actually pretty good considering that it's a captive audience) TL;DR: Don't bother coming here as a single person unless you completely don't care about the artist at all, or you love the artist so much that you're willing to do anything to see them
