Went on a mini vacation this year down to Seaside Heights. I did not want the typical boardwalk food of pizza, hot dogs and other fried foods. So I found PJ's Place after viewing yelp and seeing their giant dish of lobster and shellfish. The establishment is very small as it only sits about 25-30 people max. We waited a good 30 minutes before we got a table. As expected from a smaller place the tables are not that small. I always try to get a bigger table because I enjoy ordering half the menu. Everything was delicious and amazing. For a small up charge you can add the other half of the lobster to all the lobster dishes. This is the very first time I had a Tuna Poke and I have to say it is refreshing after all the fried foods. The only dish I felt is lacking is the Tira Misu and Crab cakes, just purely on the fact that I had better elsewhere. I used google maps for restaurants as we were in Lavallette and found this Great place!!!! The service was exceptional and the portions very generousWe Started with two appetizers Fried Calamari and New England clam chowder both Delicious! Then for Our main Course (for Lunch) we got the shrimp po boy and jersey lobster roll. DELICIOUS! Their French fries were yummy too! I also don't even like coleslaw but theirs was light and fresh! My son had penne & marinara but loved my soup I shared with him(becoming his soup ) so his belly was already full before his main course. One had the Fish & Chips, he liked it. My future father in law had the Land & Sea, his steak was undercooked, grizzly & chewy. He did not enjoy the steak at all. This is such a little hole in the wall, don't let the appearance fool you. We've been here twice now and the food has been incredible both times. So was here for breakfast not dinner but, a few points: 1. Told 10 minute wait, was 25. Sat at table waiter came over ordered 2 coffees and 2 egg sandwiches. 45 minutes to receive. 45 minutes. Excellent food ...great service ...best food so far this vacation

We came upon this place on accident. I've been by it many times but never knew just what a gem it was until we were craving a non-boardwalk dinner in a restaurant setting- but also in seaside. We actually parked near PJs in attempt to eat at another establishment. I just happened to glance at the menu on an outdoor table and made a beeline for the hostess stand. Our experience was great. It's a little rough around the edges and that's what made it so memorable. Our meals were good- even the kids meals were better than a typical chicken tender dinner. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. The dessert was fantastic. It's loud and boisterous and the wait staff is bustling around non stop- very Jersey! Definitely check it out! read more

I ordered the Fried Trio, but instead of flounder I wanted fried scallops. The waiter said a number of people have asked for that but they're not able to make it. No biggie. Instead they just gave me extra crab cake and shrimp. Shrimp were much better than the crab cake. This dish was probably 3.5/5 stars. My boyfriend ordered the lobster roll- his first ever. It came out on a hot dog bun which wasn't too appealing but overall he said it was also a 3.5/5. I would want to come back here for dinner, since the items change a little bit overall this place was good. read more

Don't be fooled... PJs doesn't appear to be a dining establishment with much to say. The outside appears to be a diner/burger and fry joint. Luckily Yelp brought me to PJ's, and I couldn't have been more impressed. The selection of seafood dishes is varied and complex, and were cooked perfectly. Clean, rich flavors that are balanced and highlight the fresh ingredients. A major plus (and surprise) was the service. EVERY employee we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and was working incredibly hard. This isn't something I find to be common in beach restaurants, and it added to our positive experience. Because we were a walk-in while it was getting busy, we sat at the counter, which turned into great fun watching the kitchen in action. I recommend it. read more

I am a vegetarian and there are not Many options but I got the rigatoni with vodka sauce. Asked the waitress for the appetizer for no meat or seafood and than again in my entire. She guaranteed there was no meat in the vodka sauce. She brought me food with pork in it with makes me very sick. I asked her to check before serving me and she obviously did not. AMAZING SEAFOOD! I couldn't find a decent seafood restaurant during my vacation in seaside heights, and within 15 miles from Seaside. I had the seafood paella here with my boyfriend. It was cooked perfectly. Service was impeccable! Not to mention, the water tasted like it was from NYC. I am not sure if Seaside Heights filters the water, but every restaurant before this one had HORRIBLE WATER. We came here another evening during our vacation for my boyfriends birthday. Seafood Pasatore! Sooo much food. I wish I could have shared this. It was spicy so I couldn't eat as much as I would like to have. This had mussels, shrimp, both cuts of calamari, and clams all sitting on pasta and spinach. The owner was attentive of his customers, but a bit short with the young ones. Simple decor and personality to this corner gem. To be honest, I've been anticipating this meal for months. Originally I was planning the Seafood Mediterranean; a melting pot of goodness. Instead, we (yes, the husband was brought in for a land lovers opinion) went with the summer special of crab stuffed zucchini blossoms , spicy calamari, Pork Parmigiana and -my dish- Seafood Pescatore. To add to the casual, we relaxed at the Open Kitchen bar, and chatted it up with the owner Patrick, and staff. A very welcoming bunch who know what a restaurant is all about. Below is my original post- went back tonight for a second time. Once again was delicious. New England clam chowder was just amazing- Had to be homemade and was a very generous amount of soup. Both of us got the specials: blackened red snapper and a linguini dish with broccoli rabe, scallops, shrimp snd sausage. The red snapper had a sherry cream sauce with lentils, carrots and sun dried tomatoes. Service was friendly as it always seems to be. (Original) Growing up in this area, I frequent your typical restaurants, Klees, hemmingways, sawmill. When searching for a new spot, PJS popped up-- do not be fooled by the casual appearance-- you'd think perhaps you could grab a burger or fries from this place. Yes, you can. You wouldn't expect to have delicious, perfectly cooked pasta with sautéed scallops, shrimp, as well as fresh sushi grade tuna or unreal lobster Mac and cheese. This place rocks. We made a reservation to sit outside on the cute patio-- PJ himself sat us early for drinks (BYOB) because we arrived 25 min earlier than our reservation and they moved us outside right on time-- the service was awesome- such nice young men!! Had lunch here with some friends after a fishing trip. Read about the restaurant on Yelp and thought I'd give it a try. Definitely have some mixed opinions. Pros - the new clam chowder was very tasty and is a recommended appetizer. The presentation of their dishes were appealing and their sides were delicious. Cons - the service was sub par and the restaurant seemed understaffed. It took quite a bit of waiting to get a round of water. I had the PJ Lobster, described as being "... stuffed head to tail with crab and topped with shrimp and scallops...". Unfortunately, this lobster was anything but its description. While the presentation was great and made the food seem really appetizing when it arrived the actual flavor and taste could not keep up with its plating. The crab was mostly breading with no noticeable crab meat and there were two pieces each of shrimp and scallops. The lobster itself was on the more lean end, not having much meat or much flavor. Perhaps if I had ordered off the regular menu I would've had a more enjoyable experience. read more

PJs Place is the best restaurant in Seaside Heights! Their lobster Mac n cheese is to die for. We also ordered the watermelon feta salad which was incredible too. The outside picnic tables by the boardwalk were great for the laid back vibe and the service could not have been better. Our waiter knew everything on the menu inside and out. They were so accommodating for us bringing a dog as well! The waiter even brought the dog a water bowl :) if I could give 6/5 stars I would. read more

The best food you'll have at seaside! We always enjoy our meals here and the food is so fresh and delicious. The menu items are innovative and not your average seafood restaurant options. Last night we ate at PJs and started with the beer battered lobster special with buffalo and blue cheese sauce, seriously so good. Mussels Bianco is another must try app!! For mains we got the seafood Mediterranean pasta, seafood broccoli rabe pasta, mussels bianco main, and clams bianco main.. finished off with tiramisu and chocolate mousse.
