We had shrimp cocktail, scungili, calamari and shrimp salad, burrata and tomato appetizer and we finished with clams with white sauce. I must say, it was even better the second time. WOW! The disappointment is a bigger portion than the food. The $24 dollar broiled combo was less food than a 2 year old could eat. AND it was supposed to have 2 side dishes and it came with one. And the filet was REALLY overcooked! The fish and chips , a disaster. The fish was battered OVER the skin. I didn't get fries until I complained, and then got up-charged $5 for them, and they were not the big chunky ones you expect. They were the frozen crinkle-cuts. I never got the cole slaw, that is promised on the menu, but I did get a side of veggies, which I ordered separately. One entree was good, it was from their specials. It was a halibut dish, nicely cooked, and $40. The waiter was a sweet young kid. I tipped him over 20%. read more

I spent so much time looking for a seafood restaurant in Seaside because I had something specific in mind. When I ca,e across PJ's on Yelp I knew I had to try it. PJ's is a hole in the wall that offers indoor and outdoor seating. I recommend outdoor because there's just something about eating seafood outside in a beach town... I ordered the fish and chips which was HUGE. My friends ordered the crab cake burger. Both were amazing. The fish and chips order had 3 huge pieces in addition to fries that were well done and delicious. The crab cake burger came with an awesome chipotle mayo sauce. I would order both dishes again however next time I want because I am dying to try the other things on the menu. The staff was friendly, it's BYOB which is a plus! When my friends and I visited Sea Side for the day, we really wanted to end with a good sea food dinner! Due to COVID it seemed like a lot of places were closed or booked for the night, but thankfully PJ's had room for us.. and ohhh my! The food was incredible. I ordered the mussels bianco as my entree and they are still on my mind over a week later, even if a wicked thunderstorm ripped through during our meal. My meal at PJ's was the best lobster I had this season. My friends and I shared our lobster appetizer. It was a good thing we shared because my lobster dinner was a huge portion and it was cooked perfectly and served over a bed of risotto, what could be better! Our server, Lou, was attentive, knowledgeable, & accommodating to our needs as a family with small children. Food was excellent! Good amounts of seafood (whole lobster, clams, mussels, & shrimps) in the paella. Fair chunks of lobster in the Mac & cheese. Came here on our last night of vacation after our first choice, Channel Marker Cafe, was booked. We'd considered some other spots but chose this place because of its proximity to our condo. Wish we'd chosen to drive. It was about half full when we sat but quickly filled. Took way too long for our bowls of "New England" Clam Chowder to come out. Should have known not to order New England style in Jersey. Bowls were huge (we could have split it) but it had carrots in it and was kind of an orange color and it came with toast instead of oyster crackers. Dinner again took too long to come out. My daughter got chicken tenders which was pretty basic. My fiancée got the fish and chips which was pretty good but was also an odd orange color. I ordered the fried trio of shrimp, crab cakes, and fish. Crab cakes were very basic with out much flavor. Shrimp was butterflied and very hard and only had three pieces. Fried fish would have been redeeming if it was the same stuff my fiancée had but it tasted like some packaged frozen Gortons type stuff. Small amounts of cocktail and tarter sauce were artfully arranges but no where near enough for the amount of food. Bill (after top) was nearly $70. Totally not worth it. read more

Read the article in the local e-paper. Tried it and found this little place to serve great food. 3 of our 4 trips this summer were fantastic. Unique specials and a solid menu. Mostly fresh seafood but dishes available for land lubbers. Owner makes the rounds when he is not cooking. Service is good. Place is a bit simple but the food is worth it. Bring quarters for parking. Lots of quarters, I think you only get 10 min per quarter. The restaurant does not always have them available. Oh, our 4th trip, we went in late, after 9:00 pm on a Saturday, the service was non existent, specials were all gone and the food was sub par, owners just sat at the bar, clearly had enough. So lesson learned, go early or stay home. read more

I live in Manhattan and very rarely have a meal that is 5 stars from start to finish... well, PJ's you have given me a 5 star meal from the beginning to the end. I got the seared tuna and I HIGHLY recommend this. My boyfriend and his mother got the lobster special with risotto - wow!!! The risotto was one of the best I have ever tasted. So creamy, flavorful, and just overall a great dish. Last, but not least, the tiramisu is a must. You can taste the freshnesses of the cake and the love that got put into that dessert. First of all this place is not on boardwalk it's two short blocks or so. I don't know why I was thinking this place was fancy but this place is not fancy. It's a small place almost like a hole in wall( sorry PJ's Place for my poor describing) but it's clean and nice, also has outdoor seatings. It's a BYOB which was awesome only because there was a wine shop across the street. My bad for not reading the reviews and tips but was in need to find a place to eat without having much time to read in hand, this place had highest rating. The food was great we liked the food we got. Although I won't get the clams and mussels, the mussels were torn not whole was not meaty. The service was also fine, we had no complaints except I wish my waitress would have told me about the seafood paella. I didn't see it on the menu. I am planning on going back to Seaside Heights tomorrow Saturday before the season end this year and plan to go back here to have seafood paella :D read more

This is BY FAR one of the best restaurants I have visited down here in MANY MANY years. We have a house in Seaside Park and we come down every time this time of year and we're always disappointed when we go out to eat. We are very simple but picky and this place NAILS IT. I had the seafood Mediterranean and it was one of the best seafood dishes I had EVER. My husband is even pickier than me and he had the meat sauce special and LOVED it. The fact that it's BYO is a bonus. Do yourself a favor and go here ASAP. And our waitres was was SOOOOO nice. We had a 6:00 reservation for there at 5:40 and our table was already ready. read more

Glad we found it! A seafood Oasis! We had a hankering for good seafood and not too much fuss. We were told about Bum Rogers and saw a big waiting line, went inside and it was very loud with an active bar crowd. With the help of Yelp we found PJ's place. The food pics looked gourmet. We were surprised to find picnic tables outside and quick friendly service. The broiled seafood plate was done to perfection. The fried shrimp platter was butterflied, lightly breaded and juicy. Delicious. We had been traveling all day and had to get back on the road. We were in and out in less than an hour. Awesome meal and quick service, we are definitely coming back. read more

Very disappointed in the meal! We have been coming here for a few years but this times Sunday dinner was not good at all! The meatball tasted burnt and like way too much nutmeg as well as the rest of the meal! The sauce tasted like it was poured right out of a can! The rest of the families meals were the same! Everyone said this was the best they've had. 2nd up was the Clams and Muscles. The sauce was so tasty, everyone asked for a second basket of bread to sop it up. 3rd course the special of the day Pasta. Seafood seafood and more seafood over perfectly cooked pasta and sauce. PJs is my new favorite spot. The Tuna Poke Bowl is hands down one of the best things I've eaten this year. Right to the top of my new favorite dishes. A dish that seems simple on the surface explodes with flavor. The bright red sushi grade tuna is out of this world. The sauce is simply amazing - I need the recipe so I can put it on everything. Topping it with fresh ripe avocado puts it over the top. This is great to share as an app or a meal for one. Honestly the amount of Tuna on this thing is generous. Already planning my next meal here. It's our go to spot for great food that is kid friendly. The food is comparable with the best restaurants down there, but you get to eat at picnic tables and enjoy the outside. As we usually try to get back to seaside park before the trash shows up, we tend to eat on the earlier side and never have a problem getting a table. read more

Received my food cold after a long wait on a Sunday morning. Asked for extra bacon & eggs and was brought 2 complete dishes. So I was charged for 2 entire meals instead for the extra portion. Ordered soft bacon & received cold hard bacon. Service was ok. Taste was ok. Maybe it would've tasted better if my meal were hot.
