This one was comparable to others I've been to in that the burgers tasted standard, the milkshakes were delicious as always, but these fries were subpar. Cold and over salted. Staff was fine and the restaurant was not dirty. The area doesn't leave much else to do, but we popped in after leaving the beach and were starving. Being that it's right on a major cut through road, it was easy and convenient to stop for a bite when we wanted to sit versus doing a drive-through.

Most of the store fronts are shuttered and you can see the silhouette of companies that once reigned supreme but aren't even around anymore. Thank goodness Shake Shack is on the 'outskirts' of the mall and hopefully won't catch the cooties of the dying mall at the center of the complex. With that out of the way... Shake Shack is my absolute fave when it comes to fast food chains. The food is tasty. The options are excellent. They're always tinkering and whipping up new creations and they're usually a homerun. At this specific location was the very first time we had to order through their kiosk system (which went smoothly) but was confused as to the how/why to add a tip to the order. (Sorry... does that make me sound like an irritable cheapskate?!) The restaurant was clean with a cool look. We had maybe 4-5 seconds of an interaction with an actual worker there and she seemed... nice. Prices were higher than I remember for Shake Shack (almost $20 a person?!). Plenty of parking (moribund mall and all). Lots of people were coming and going to get grub... always a good sign.

I used to go to this place when I lived in the area and never experienced such a stench. There were two what I thought were customers sitting eating. One after several of my glances struck me as disturbed or worse, huddled over his sandwich drooling and talking to the sandwich. Yes. And the other patron staring at from the back while eating seemed angry. Then he got up, shot back his chair and lo and behold, this was the guy on duty - so he charges up to the cash register still staring at me like he wants to cause me physical harm and not realizing this is a guy can small talk with, say in a friendly white guy voice "wow sorry - trying to have a little dinner?" He kept staring at my like he wanted to deck me and shiv me or exact some other street justice. "WHAT!! " he barked. Gosh, Windmill Warrior meant business! It did the trick - his threatening demeanor (actually an assault under the law) did the trick and off I went. I have a lot of patience and empathy for people that work jobs that aren't much fun. But he doesn't get hired to eat on duty or out on a tough guy act to threaten away customers. If management reads these, you need to address this because next time he puts on that act, a less civil guy than me might take him up on what he's serving - and it ain't cheese fries.

It's lemonade and fries, not a $300 tasting menu, but they take their mission seriously. I enjoyed the regular and blood orange lemonades. The fries were meticulously prepared, with high potato quotient and no grease. Can't comment on the particulars of the hot sauce but I liked it - let's say it had notes of aioli, cayenne, Tabasco and red pepper with a faint undercurrent of sweetness.

One whiff and I was headed straight for Pucker Lemonades & Beach Fries. This cute little kiosk is hard to miss with its bright neon pink and yellow colors. The menu is small and simple, focusing on classic Jersey Shore treats like fresh-squeezed lemonade, hand-cut fries, fried Oreos, and funnel cake. Just be prepared for boardwalk pricing and a few extra charges--you're paying for the seasonal demand/labor and prime beach location. I was debating between getting the funnel cake and hand-cut fries... or both :-) I decided not to fully embrace my inner big back, so I ordered small fries ($7) with a side of horseradish & rosemary dipping sauce ($2). My order was ready in just a few minutes, and I couldn't wait to dig in. I LOVE POTATOES!!!! Sadly, these fries weren't worth the calories or money. About half the cup was filled with tiny pieces, and the texture was all over the place. Some fries were crispy, others were soggy and limp. Soggy fries belong behind bars LOL. The saving grace was the dipping sauce. I actually liked it more than the fries themselves. The rosemary and horseradish combo was SO bomb, with just the right balance of herbal flavors and peppery heat. Daaaaaaaaang, maybe I should've just gone with the funnel cake instead...
