I hired Planchon to replace my roof 5 years ago. They installed gutter guards incorrectly which resulted in the roof lifting and allowing moisture under the roof. They have refused to fix it after months of trying to get them to do so. I am getting bids from other companies and have been told that the entire roof needs to be replaced because it was installed incorrectly. Last year i asked for a quote to replace a skylight on my roof. A representative came in a timely manner and gave me a quote which I accepted. I then called to schedule the work and NEVER HEARD BACK! We hired these terrific fellows to put on a whole new roof and install sunlights and it was done in a really fast manner, passed roofing inspection by the county and they were easily approachable when we had a couple extra things we needed done. They also cleaned up around the house after they were done and didn't leave a lot of debris, I felt like they were really invested in giving us a high quality product. We got exactly what we wanted, communication was excellent, and they were very adaptable and friendly with us. Horrible company, do not do business with them. Planchon came out to my neighbors house an painted her roof. They got paint and debris all over my property in the process it took them weeks to complete the job and when they did a day before a huge rainstorm (you know when these are coming in California) all the paint washed away off her roof into my property and into the street. Now they will not respond to calls about it. The job cost 10k and it's an environmental disaster. Considering a lawsuit. read more

Planchon Roofing won't let you know even when their worker had COVID-19 positive in the office. I found it out by talking with the lady from Planchon's office. I now have to go get myself tested tomorrow for COVID-19 to make sure I didn't get it from them. I contacted the Alameda County Public Health Department and made a report against Planchon. I had Planchon estimated for a partial repair of my roof in February 2020, but they wanted to do a whole replacement instead and got an estimate then. My insurance wouldn't pay for the whole roof replacement, so I didn't move forward at that time. I was finally ready to do the roof replacement in December 2020 and called Planchon. They said their price changed since February so they increased the estimate by $500 without reassessing my roof. I thought it was odd, but said fine. My contract with Planchon was for the roof replacement, gutters and a permit from the City. The work was done in 3 days. There were some minor issues that Planchon's workers broke a lid of my trash can (they cut old rods on my roof, and the rods fell through my trash lid), and they took my paint stick I had kept outside. They weren't expensive stuff, but I have to replace them now. Planchon sent me a final bill, and I was shocked to see the price. It was +$3,400 more than the estimate. The owner, Damon Planchon, said that my roof was so bad and they had to buy new materials. A funny thing was that Damon never came to the site, he uses people without the license (one of the workers personally told me he had no license), but Damon or anybody who had the license never came to the site to check if the work was done properly. But he felt right to charge me such expensive price because his workers did a fantastic job. How did he know if the job was fantastic when he never came to my house to check on the roof? Maybe that's why their roof leaks after a few years like other reviewers are saying. I'll see how mine goes after a few years. I was reluctantly going to pay the full amount, but wanted to receive a copy of the permit before I made payment. Misty at their office told me that I could pay before I receive the copy of the permit. I said No. What kind of business tells you to pay before they provide you the product? I told Damon I would not pay for the permit, but he said he assured me that he purchased the permit. I said to him that his verbal assurance would not work with me. Then, he said he would prepare a lien on my property if payment wasn't paid full. Now, he is threatening me. I called the City the very next morning (yesterday) to see if Planchon sent the application for the permit for my property. And nothing was found on the City's system. Eventually, I found out that Planchon put a wrong address on the application, and it's finally being processed properly. I'll see when I see the copy of the permit. In addition, if you reach to Planchon's "answering system," never, ever expect to receive a call back. They are just screening calls just like other reviewers are saying, and this particular lady would rudely talk over you, and she would not let you speak. It does not matter to them whether or not they took your message, because they would never call you back anyway. I wish I could have written a nice review about Planchon, especially for the difficult time like today with COVID-19. But with their dishonesty, disrespectfulness, rudeness and threats to me as their client, I could not say anything nice but all I mentioned above. I confronted Damon about COVID-19 in their office, but he did not deny or confirm about having people with corona virus positive in their office, so be aware. Their clients should be the first ones to be notified if anybody at Planchon got corona virus, but unfortunately, I was never informed about it until the lady over the phone accidentally told me on that day. read more

Need a new roof in the dead of winter? Then call Planchon Roofing - they will get it done and then some! So it started with a leak, in the house (of course) so there are two problems: triage the leak (before the next rainstorm) and assess the status of the roof. Okay, so the roof is patched, but the bad news is the existing roof needs to be replaced. Planchon went to work and quickly and efficiently produced a reasonable bid for the roof and all of a sudden, between rainstorms did everything; they obtained the building permit in my county and assembled a group of 6-10 guys to remove the old roofs (long story) and quickly, quickly put on a new roof, rain gutters and downspouts. Picking colors for the roof and selecting rain gutter style and color was fast and easy. The Planchon crew was fast, friendly and efficient. They cleaned up after themselves and hauled all debris away. They corrected existing problems with the former flashing, reinstalled some roof vents, the chimney spark arrester and fixed visible dry rot. So now, with the new rainstorms, I have a new roof, modern, attractive rain gutters (if you could call rain gutters attractive) and most of all, no more leaks for the foreseeable future. The issues that came up during the job (as there were several) were handled quickly and efficiently. At no time did Planchon belittle my concerns or try to dismiss them. All calls were returned promptly. They listened to my issues, told me what they would do to fix it and were true to their word. So, yeah, I would hire them again. I have never replaced a roof and Planchon made it a relatively painless process. I appreciate their efforts on my behalf. read more

It's been three years since Doug's guys have installed the incredibly beautiful roof on our house. As our house have this incredibly steep roof, and the original owner has been "patchworking" on it for MANY years, it added a lot of complications to the project. However, Doug's crew finished the job on time and WITHIN budget! it was great. A few months after the project was completed (when the rainy season hit), we realized that some of the new gutters they put in didn't work well. A quick call brought their gutter out to repair within two days. Now, no roofing job is perfect, there can always be issues afterwards. This is where it is important to have a reputable company do your roof. Because they'll guarantee their work!! Since the roof have been installed, we've had to call on them twice to fix something. Both times, they were quick to send someone out right away. I definitely recommend these guys! read more

If I could rate 0 stars I would. Planchon Roofing has been working on the building I live in for the last 2 days. They clearly don't care about the tenants of the building at all. They park their truck blocking the one and only driveway into the building, and refuse to move it. It would only take them 30 seconds to move it to let me drive my car into my parking spot, but they refused and are forcing tenants to park on the streets. The surrounding neighborhoods have a 2 hour parking time limit, so I have to go move my car once every 2 hours between 6am and 7pm because these Planchon guys are too lazy to move their truck. They have also left nails and small roof bits littered all over the property and the driveway, which I see is consistent with other review left here as well. Good luck with their customer support too. I called them multiple times and just got some simple answering robot that is clearly just a call screener. I have not had any calls returned, and have never managed to get through to anyone who works there. If you want your roof done by an inconsiderate company that will leave nails all over your property and block your driveway or your neighbors driveway and cause you issues with the police, then by all means you should book this terrible service. read more

After I get the estimate, it looks good and I sign it and send it back to them and requested timing options for the repair. I have sent them several emails and have left countless voicemail messages with their answering service and have never gotten a call back.....SERIOUSLY? If you weren't interested in doing the repair you should have said so. I guess since it wasn't a new roof they just couldn't be bothered. I only called because my Mom recommended them. read more

The Planchon team handled some initial patches to our tar and gravel roof when we bought our home 10 yrs ago. When we decided to sell our home this year, we called for an inspection prior to listing to see if anything needed to be done so our buyers would have peace of mind. The initial inspection noted some patches needed, and gave us a reasonable estimate for those repairs. We fully intended on having that work done before putting our house on the market. And then the torrential rains started. We discovered a leak coming in above our bathroom running over the electrical outlet and light switch in opposites sides of the vanity mirror. This was impeding upgrades in progress in the bathroom. We called Planchon to do an emergency tarp and get repairs scheduled ASAP. When they arrived and looked deeper into the problem, they were very honest in that the original inspection and quoted repairs would not be sufficient to pass a home inspection given the age of the room (pre-dated our ownership). They strongly advised we replace the entire roof with a new shingle roof that would have a 30 yr guarantee. They did do the emergency tarp to stop the leak until the rain stopped and they could schedule the work. We were a little frustrated at first, as the added cost was more than we had planned to spend to fix up the house to sell. In the end our agent convinced us we had to do it, it would have come up in inspection and we would have been required to do it anyway or risk losing potential buyers. So we did it. Was a messy process, we didn't realize how much of the gravel would fall into our garage which was open to the roof. They did cover everything as best they could with tarps. The final result is amazing, and the cost was reasonable compared to other local companies, we are so happy we did it as we got top dollar on the sale of our home. I would recommend Planchon to anyone, and in the end, am happy they were honest with us about doing the replace vs repair. If we had done just the repairs, and then a buyer asked us to replace, it would have cost us more. read more

I need new gutters. I called four companies to get estimates. Only one company actually came out when they said they would. Planchon was not that company. In the meantime, I went to a fundraiser and there were three gift certificates for $200 of work by Planchon roofing. I won all three and there was no indication that they could not be combined. I decided to give them another chance. Their estimator completely flaked on me four times. No phone call to let me know he wouldn't be coming, no call after the missed appointment to reschedule. If I hadn't had the certificates, I would have given up on them after the first missed appointment. The estimator finally came out after many phone calls on my part to the office. The estimate came back with a note that I could only use one certificate and their quote with the discount was not a significant enough savings for me to go with them. I figured if it was that much trouble just getting an estimate, I am willing to pay an extra $100.00 (plus the money I spent winning the certificates) to go with someone who shows up when they say they will. I am not even willing to give the certificates to people I know because I don't want them thinking I endorse the company. As far as I'm concerned, the fundraiser got a nice donation from me and I learned a fairly expensive lesson. read more

We just had our roof replaced by the guys at Planchon roofing. I have to say that I'm surprised by the negative reviews. From the moment I called my experience with them was great. They came to provide an estimate on the day I called because they happened to be in the area on another project already. The estimate came when they said it would two days later, and though it wasn't the cheapest bid, it was almost $5,000 less than the highest bid. They also were the most flexible in providing the roofing material that I wanted (I was converting a modified bitumen roof to shingles). I spoke with Doug Planchon after receiving the estimate in my email and discussed some specific concerns I had, and he agreed to move an existing drain opening that was causing me problems for no extra charge. In addition, they were able to schedule the work for the following week. The crew arrived on time as scheduled the following week, and it was a full crew. They had my entire roof removed before 10:30 that morning. The new roof was on and complete by the next day at 6:00 PM. On both days the guys stayed beyond 5:00 PM to get as much work done as they could. They will need to come back to add a second layer of stucco to an area that had to be torn out to install proper flashing at a joint point, but otherwise, the entire project is done. The guys on the crew were very respectful of my home and yard, cleaned up after themselves, and were very friendly. They made sure everything was exactly to my liking and were happy to answers any questions when I had them. This roof will last for 30 + years, but if I needed a new roof for another property, I would hire these guys again without hesitation... and I can be pretty picky about the work done on my place. read more

I have used Planchon roofing a few times and all were good until this new one. I tried to schedule an estimate on a concord fourplex flat roof. First I was told that I did not have to be there meeting the estimator, I always insist to be there meeting the estimator going thru the details. This is very new to me. I insisted to go but told by Missy that the estimator knew what he was doing. Ok, the estimate came back, will replace the whole roof, which has two levels, I asked and confirmed the price is for the whole roof and was assured it is based on the contract signed. The day on the job started, Damien called and said there was a mistake estimate which he said it is too low and would not do the job. Now I tried to find out what is the status of this job, no one calls back. I wonder the management even knows what is happening. When business is good, you have to treat returned customers very well. We had Planchon come out to perform "emergency repair" after we found our fireplace flashing was leaking after last weeks storms. Had someone come out that did a repair that he said would last for a year or two......that was on the 11th. Well, after Monday's storm we now have ServPro here tenting our fireplace that definitely did not get repaired. I gues that's why their invoice says "No Guarantees". Seriously, if you aren't going to guarantee you work there must be a reason. They gave a bid for a permanent repair but will be looking for another company. read more

I scheduled an appointment to have this company come to my home for an estimate. We set up a time (about 2 weeks out) that worked for both of us. They said they would come by between 9am and 4pm...yes, you read that correctly...a 7 hour window. I had to take the day off work to make sure I was around when they arrived. They never showed up. And what's worse is they didn't even call to say they weren't coming. I would never recommend a company that thinks it's ok to do this to someone. read more
