My roof leaked two years after they put it on. Exactly where I was concerned (which Doug dismissed as naivety) it would leak. It leaked slowly over a winter and molded the interior of a wall - resulting in significant cost and time to replace/repair. I contemplated filing a grievance but just didn't want to deal with Planchon . I fixed it all and moved on. I recommend them less now than my first review. read more

ugh.... go with someone else. there are a bunch of others out there that will probably do a better job. please go on berkeley parents network to get some good recommendations. PLEASE! in a nutshell. after roof was done, they left big holes where roof meets the siding of the house. had to ask them to come back to patch up those holes. Doug came in person to drop off the bill without looking at his crews work. so tacky. asked a highly skilled stucco guy to look at their patch work, and basically they did a horrible job patching it up. basically they put waterproofing material up there and no stucco. crew inadvertenly unplugged my freezer in the garage, which contained tons of recently bought meat. We probably paid about $300.00 for the food in there. He was only willing to pay 150.00. so lame. *sigh.... whatever planchon! read more

I am so glad I didn't let the negative reviews on Yelp scare us away from Doug and the crew at Planchon. Wow, one day and that ripped that old roof off and then carefully and efficiently laid out a beautiful new roof with venting and drip edging that looks like we paid a lot more than the fair and reasonable fee they charged. Doug was right there checking on me and making sure I got the roof I wanted and Santiago was fast, efficient, knowledgeable, and experienced as well as being a heck of a nice guy. No issues. Roof looks great, got it done before a storm came in. Did stucco work and replaced ugly old ventilation units, with low profile pieces. Did a reasonably good job of working around plants which meant a lot of manual labor. Crew was polite and did a generally good job of cleaning up. Price was right. Planchon Roofing is THE company to call for replacing your roof. Finding a reliable roofer is not easy and after 59 years the roof of the house and garage had to be replaced. After lots of research on the Web and getting input and names from friends and acquaintances I had 4 companies on my list. I first went with Planchon Roofing, because this company was recommended by a very finicky friend. The next day they came out to check the roof and give us a tentative bid. After I received the bid in writing I did not need to go any further. It was supposed to be a 2-day job, but because of the extensive dry-rot (20 hrs to replace the wood alone), it took 4 days. We also had insulation installed and gutters. The workers were very efficient and quiet (no yelling, blaring radios or wasting time on the phone). They also were meticulous and even painted the ends of the wood to coincide with the color of the house. It was not a rush job. The price was very reasonable and I recommend this company to everyone. read more

We've had Planchon Roofing work on our house twice now, and each time they were just great. Episode one involved a home we were purchasing, but needed roofing work BEFORE it could be sold to us. The previous owner was required to fix the substructure but not re-roof, and the rains were approaching. Doug came to our rescue before it was even our house, by checking in on the work being done, then covering the open roof with a tarp to protect it from the weather. In the few days it took to complete the sale, he made sure things would end up well for us, then did the re-roof quickly. FANTASTIC. Episode two involved new shingles and at first, Doug came by just a couple of days after our initial call, checked out the roof, and said there was no need, there might be another year left in the ones we had. Very nice to NOT push for unnecessary work, but we decided to go ahead with it. When we asked if it could be done quickly, Damon entered the picture and said "How 'bout Monday?". Again, FANTASTIC. They completed the majority of the work in one day (including LOTS of unexpected roof repair), and when we became angry about a major problem we thought had happened (it hadn't), Damon remained calm, talked it out for us, and was REALLY understanding. He took some phone calls he didn't deserve, and handled them as well as anyone could. Sorry Damon! The employees were friendly and worked very hard, everyone did great work, the roof looks great at a great price, even the post-work cleanup was flawless. I would never recommend planchon. As a home owner with little to no roofing skills, I trusted planchon to replace the old gutters on my home; I should have saved my money and left the old ones up. Each time it rains, the gutter nearest my room pours water into the window thanks to the genius who set the slope on said gutter. The corner near the the front of the house pours water onto the walk way. Why? As far as I can tell it must have been the same planchon specialist who set the slope as the back of the house. What a total failure of a job. Do your self a favor, find any other roofer. These guys are hacks!! read more

We just had the roof on our ranch style house south of Martinez replaced by Planchon Roofing. I rate the overall job quality and business experience as EXCELLENT. I entertained 7 bids and selected Planchon because of the low cost and a positive reference from a golf buddy - I was not disappointed! The job was complicated because I had an existing PV solar array that had to be removed by a certified Solar company (A1 Sun) before the old roof could be stripped off. Planchon and A1 Sun worked seamlessly with one another throughout the entire process. The Planchon crew was on-time, quick and courteous. They had the old roof removed and the new roof installed within 3 days. The bid included minor dry rot repair, new eyebrow vents, a solar tube and all new flashings. The crew cleaned up at the end of each day and conducted a final clean up at the end of the job. They even looked for stray nails that might puncture a tire. Kudos to Doug, Damon and the entire Planchon crew for a job well done! read more

I called Planchon Roofing and Carlos, I believe was his name came to the house and inspected the roof and I mentioned a few other problems I found. We had a leak in the bathroom and kitchen area. After his inspection, he mentioned that our roof was still good for another 5 or 6 years, if it was necessary we would have had them replaced it. He said, a few patch was needed, and they will clean out the gutters, and fix the problem at the back of the house, and I mentioned that water was coming down on the porch and asked how that could be fixed. I was told that they would need to add gutter and reroute it so it does not come right on the porch. I was quoted $1200 and it seemed good. It took some months before they finally came out and when one of their workers came, I reminded him of what needed to be done and he said, ok. So, he began the work but he was done in about 30 minutes. Of course, I could not go on top of the roof but I did see that the corner area in the back was worked on. I asked about the gutter in the front and he said, he did it. I could not really see it but of course trusted that he did the work, and he said he cleaned out the gutter but I thought it was too fast for all that work. So, I told him I don't see the new gutter in that area in the front and he said, he fixed it so that the water doesn't come right on the porch near the front door. The following rainy season, we didn't have much rain and so I didn't see any leaks. At end of 2018, to the very heavy rain up to February, the leaks were back and in the same area where they suppose to have patched up. The porch area was getting very wet and the problem was not resolved. So, I mentioned it to my sister who owns the house and let her know to contact them, and she emailed them repeatedly and never received a response from them. I called them at end of February and a few times in March to let them know the problem. The very rude woman who answers the phone said that she would give the file to her boss since it has been over a year. I explained to her that we did not have that much rain and the problem happens when it's raining heavily. She then said, her boss comes in after 12:30 p.m. and she will call me back the next day. The next day came and I received no response. I waited another 2 days and no phone call. I called again and it seemed to be a problem calling them. I asked her if I could speak with the boss and she said he was not in the office but she gave him the file. I said, it's pass 12:30 p.m. and she told me in the previous conversation that he comes after 12:30 p.m. She said, she would have him call me. It is now April 2, 2019, and still have not heard from them at all. If anyone says that this company is someone they would use again, they are fooling themselves. I had a $1200 inspection with very minor work, which is more costly. We could have replaced the roof if I was not told that it was still good. For those who gave good reviews, you were the lucky ones that didn't have issue with them. I certainly would not recommend them and if I hear any of my friends even mention of a roof job, will certainly let them know to stay away from this company. I always know that what one reaps, is what they sow. They may be open now but a day will come that too many people will have more complaints and soon their phones will no longer be ringing for a job but as a complaint. I would not be surprise if they are sued repeatedly. God knows the truth! read more

Planchon Roofing has done three jobs for me now: a gutter replacement and roof touchup when we first bought the house, a gutter repair in January of this year, and now a roof replacement. Their bid is usually about 30% lower than the nearest competitor, as was the case for this last job. They just replaced my whole roof for $3,000 less than the closest bidder -- tearing off four layers and then putting the new one down. The job was done really quickly -- the day after I told them they had the job, to be exact. Plus it passed inspection and we just made it through the first torrential rain of the season with no problems. Also, Planchon is nice to his workers, which is important to me. read more

Planchon barely gets one star. I have been trying to get these guys in for roof repair for 5 weeks now, and they are unresponsive and disorganized. The two times I've actually spoken to the scheduler, he has promised me that I would get on their schedule, and then they flake. Even if they made it to my house, I wouldn't trust their work given how loosey-goosey they seem. they do not have their act together. Would NOT recommend. read more
