I've bought from planet DJ several times over the years and most recently I purchased an Allen Heath mixer from them. Their service was great and they worked hard to accommodate my drop ship request. They always responded to my anxious calls regarding the delivery date too and did it with a smile. Also, they price matched a competitors sales price without making me jump through a bunch of hoops. Want the product you order quick? Order from somewhere else. Want communication about your orders that isn't 2 weeks after you have placed your order? Order from somewhere else. When you place an order on the 6th of the month and your first communication back about your order is on the 24th, you should understand that there's is no way your going to receive your order when you needed it. No one would answer the phone for days or return calls or emails. Finally got a response by sending a message on Facebook. Wow. Got a message back blaming loss of staff and not being able to keep up on orders. If this is how everyone's communication was on orders it's no wonder people left their company. They were probably tired of all of the customer complaints. Then the product that we ordered, listed on the website that they have available - was not in stock and backordered. Told it may not be in stock until mid June. Oh wait guess what.... no proactive communication back to us again on the status of our orders. We had to email asking for it again. And shocking - the response right back, "we haven't looked into this yet, let us contact the warehouse today". Two days later... finally our product will be shipped. But they couldn't provide any tracking information. I felt like such a "valued" customer. I won't recommend nor shop from this company again. I'll spend my money where I'm appreciated and wanted as a customer. Isn't that how you would want to be treated? Shop somewhere else. read more

Good prices... BUT they have a ridiculous bunch of policies in where they charge you upwards of 15% to return an item if your not satisfied. This was ridiculous to me because of the fact that everything was brand new, and their whole "Satisfaction guaranteed" motto does not hold up!! I walked in, looked around for a few minutes before a big dude appeared behind the counter. I said hello and asked him how his day was going, he didn't respond. After wandering the store for about 5 minutes he asked me if I was looking for anything in particular. I told him I'm looking for the Korg Volca Keys, to which he simply replied "we don't have that." And stared at me. Dude obviously didn't want to help me or sell me any musical equipment. Which is funny, because the sales person at guitar center told me to come here when they didn't have what I wanted. There's a reason I haven't stepped foot in this place in like 5 years, I guess. Haven't purchased from Planet DJ for a while but I stumbled across them and had to put my review in. All in all, this is a great local business and if you need DJ equip in Reno/Sparks, its not a bad choice.... however, I seem to have had continuous bad luck with many of the products I purchased from them. The sales people will spend a while telling you why you should be weary of buying online from other retailers and make you feel like you can trust their products because they are an authorized retailer... but I've had many of my purchased products fail or not be on par with what I expected or what I had paid for them. Also, they say they will price match but then only do it for the competitors they WANT TO! I am just disheartened with how many times I have had issues with the items I have purchased - lighting, LEDs, lasers, fog machines, etc. Do yourself a favor. Head on down to Guitar Center! The worst ever possible experience, buying from PlanetDJ! I placed an order with Planet DJ on the 5th of February and also applied for credit since their website had the option of financing. NOTE to all buyers out there that what they offer on their website offering financing it is not a TRUE credit. Everyone's perception of credit is that when you are approved you are then ready to utilize your credit and make your purchases right? Wrong, that is definitely not the case here. PlanetDJ's website also states that approval is in minutes, this is absolutely FALSE! Let's get started. I placed an order for two professional Pioneer Turntables (PLX-1000), PlanetDJ assured me that they were in stock and they are ready to ship. Now let's go back to PlanetDJ's so called financing. When you apply for financing, Leasenation (The financer) will contact you and tell you if you were approved, only individuals with a business can apply (They DO NOT STATE this on their website), I had my mobile DJ business so I was approved. This is how their so called financing work, you get approved, you wait until Leasenation (Their Financer) transfers the funds to PlanetDJ's account, and then you get your items shipped. This credit process of theirs takes a week to complete, by that time I was only left with one turntable and my order is now on backorder. They sold my items because they said they cannot hold anything until they get paid! WHAT? I thought I was just approved for financing? Their reason was that I was the first customer to be using the credit process and they have no idea themselves how it worked. That's unacceptable. When I was approved for their so called credit, I decided to add items to my order, I called a few times and every time they answered the phone, they were rude, I actually had to ask if there was a problem with them answering the phone in a couple of occasions. Their finance person (Debbie) was unhappy that I added more items to my order and purchased more. A business would be happy and excited when a customer buys more correct? But unfortunately PlanetDJ is the opposite. Their order status page always showed the wrong quantity of the items ordered, you need to send them a message frequently via their websites instant message and they inform their web person to update it, and at the end of the day the status is wrong again. Status updates from PlanetDJ is extremely poor! As I was getting ready to cancel my order for the last turntable that I am still waiting for, they told my financer (Leasenation) "We are receiving his item today", that was false, and it was actually a week later that they were receiving them. So overall I am staying away from this company. read more

I ordered a couple of items from Planet DJ and I must say that I probably won't be repeating my business with them. It takes FOREVER for a product to get shipped to you and they don't provide any real tracking ability. You receive a same day ship and package delivery notification via email after a couple of days so you don't even know when your package was really ship. Don't fall for any items they advertise "in stock" because chances are it's not. I ordered 2 ADJ Jellyfish lights on Tuesday Oct. 18 and called Monday Oct. 24th to see the status of this order. A guy named Zack said he would get back to me which he did later that day and told me that ADJ had been in a convention in Vegas so they were not able to get this item shipped out. Really?? First of all I thought this item was "in stock" and second you mean to tell me ADJ just shut business down to attend a convention in Vegas?? I emailed them again today Wednesday Oct. 26 and no reply. I was really looking forward to using these lights for a gig I have on Friday but looks like that's not going to happen. I mistakenly purchased a American Audio 10mxr through PlanetDJ, and had software issues tying to load Virtualdj into my computer. Never touched the mixer. Though everyone admitted flawed software, and the mixer itself being perfect, I could not use it and had to pay Shipping to send it back...PLUS..incurred a 10% restocking fee. Do you believe it?? So I have this 16 year old Daughter. She is deep into music. For her 16 Birthday we got her a make your own beats software and keyboard and an 8 key pad set. She loved it. Fast forward to an almost high school graduate. We start talking about college. What would you like to study I ask. She thinks and says I want to study MUSIC! She also says to me I think I want to be a DJ. I think to myself oh no! But in the back of my mind I also think about how I wish I had the family with the backing that she does to study the ART that she was so passionate about. No matter what she had to get her general education out the way and then start the classes for her arts of music degree. High school graduation comes and goes and 3 weeks later is her 18 birthday. Me and my wife have a talk and decide let's just do it. Let's get her some DJ equipment. So we start to call around and we remember we have a Good friend back home in San Jose California that has been a DJ sense high school. (Macala Entertainment) Had to give him a shout out! We talk and he asked me what my budget was. I tell him X amount of dollars. He starts to tell me about how this DJ business can be addicting. You tend to buy a few things and then realize you need another thing. He explained to me that we needed to up our budget a little more and make sure that even though my daughter is just starting we should purchase a system that is event ready. He said you have to call PLANET DJ and talk to Cesar in sales. So I did. I talked to Cesar about what we are looking for and what our budget was. He explained to me that he would write up a quote for what we wanted and send it to us. He also started to explain that we should think about a complete set up so we don't call him back in a few months and finish our order. This was no sales pitch or any pressure. He was going to sell us anything we wanted. So we purchased a Mackie 12" speakers and mixer system. We got it in just in time for her 18 birthday. She loved it. She started college and 1 of her classes had to do with music. She had an assignment where she had to present in front of her class and it was on how she wanted to be a DJ. She did not know this at the time but one of her classmates was the Athletic director and heard this. 2 days later she was asked to DJ the schools tailgate party. She was so excited and told us all about it. Well after talking about what we thought she needed to do to make her first experience a good 1 I started thinking. OHH NO! The 1 thing we did not have was a Sub-Woofer. So I called Cesar back at Planet DJ and had him tell me a more about a Sub-Woofer. It was explained very well how we should match the Sub-woofer with the setup we had. I also remember what I was told. Get the system event ready. The Tail gate party was a big success. Everything sounded great. I also wanted to tell you about an exchange. After a month my daughters head phones somehow got broken. I called Planet DJ and they gave me the number to the exchange company and within a 2 week period I had a brand new head phones with no questions or any problems what so ever. I want to thank planet DJ and Cesar for making this transaction so smooth. P.S. Its been a little over a year now. Keep an Ear out for my Daughter. She is getting good! read more
