Two for sure in 2 corners; anywhere else and you have people walking all around you with weights, etc. it's about the same on Stadium, with possibly 3 spots then look out. they could re-utilize the 30 min room, ditch a row of step stools and make that a stretching area. read more

They continued to charge me after I canceled my membership. Watch out! The club itself is okay, but seems not as good as when I first started. Re: PF response. I made multiple phone calls to get a refund on the month after I was charged following the cancellation, and while the desk employees initially told me that it would not be a problem, it was management that eventually denied it. So I find it disingenious to tell me that that management will help me, they are the ones that refused to help. read more

Stay away from this location. The showers continuously run out of hot water and there are just a handful of full size lockers (about 10 in total). The rest of the lockers are so small that you can't hang any clothing. Also some of the gym employees use the full size lockers as their personal locker, reducing even more the number of lockers available to paying members. I've been going for a year now. For some reason, these people haven't gotten the hint that having 3/4th of the gym being taken up by unused cardio equipment is a horrible use of space when there are lines for the smith machines constantly. I see there are other much older reviews stating the same thing, indicating to me these guys really do not care. When I used to go at 5-6 AM, the gym had no other problems. Now that I can't go at graveyard hours going here is an obnoxious experience. Once the current promotion to bring my teenager ends, I will probably be canceling my membership. I was really glad to return to the gym while Planet Fitness is touting social distancing, the requirements of mask-wearing and regular machine cleaning and locker cleaning in the midst of coronavirus. Sadly and sure enough on my 2nd visit today, there's a meathead who is wearing a mask around his chin and not on his face. Why is this? I've had a couple of interactions prior to Covid, with asking members to clean up after themselves when they don't wipe down the machine after using it. That's the requirement everyone signs up for when you purchase a membership! Why would any member have to clean up after another member? It's puzzling that in this forum, we're told to notify management - but you see consistently management is notified and these reviews continue to be written. I've notified management previously and watched where the manager communicates and is summarily ignored. What then? Perhaps management could walk around a little bit and ensure that the patrons who follow the rules are treated like valued Customers? It would make a lot of difference to our member experience. read more

This is a really good Planet Fitness. I have had mixed reviews one time or another throughout the course of one year, but overall this is a pretty solid Planet Fitness. This Planet Fitness is definitely worth your money. I am a black card member, and I always find the massage chairs available. They have quite a few tanning beds. Are you looking for a gym with broken water fountains, passive aggressive staff, and crappy amenities? You've come to the right place! Highlights: -Water fountains out for three days for a full weekend -PF charged full price on the water bottles they typically sell in the meantime (profiting off their problem) and staff didn't know when they'd be back on -Never once saw the equipment sprayed/wiped down by staff over 6 months of membership -Saw the staff vacuum the gym floor ONCE over 6 months (frequently cleans the locker room floor though, probably because patrons can rate the locker room cleanliness on a smiley face machine when you exit) -Staff aggressively vacuumed around patrons in the ab/stretching area, nudging patrons' mats with the hose and nearly sucking up my hair -Was told by staff move to another area if I had that "uncomfortable problem" with the vacuum again in the future -Front desk staff frequently hangs out in back room and begrudgingly exits to assist patrons waiting for help -Staff openly roll their eyes, mutter under their breaths, and shamelessly check-out patrons while they're working out -Went in-person, left voicemail, and note at the front desk for Club Management to discuss ongoing issues and NEVER received a response -Turned to Twitter for help, only for PF Corporate to say the Ann Arbor gym is independently owned and they wouldn't/couldn't assist further One star: It's only $10/month, plus your annual fee, BUT NOTE, it's not truly a "no commitment membership." PF Corporate says individual locations have their own policies. If you're looking to cancel your membership here, you must go in-person to fill out their form and despite doing it before your recurring payment, you'll likely be suckered into an extra month because this location enforces arbitrary closing windows. Spend the extra $10/$20 to go to another gym and save yourself the stress and judgement. I have been disappointed with this gym for several reasons - 1st I signed up for a class - which was cancelled but do you think they bothered to contact me before I went to the gym? No. Incompetent. Now during the pandemic - they send an email that is 2 pages long with a small paragraph saying they will start billing ... at the very bottom of the email as an after thought almost. They have been billing me now since September and will not refund the funds even though I have not been there since 2019 (March!). I understand they are franchise but still no compassion, they care zilch. I had hoped to go back someday but NEVER, not now. This is all MY fault - of course it is. I didn't feel like reading their spamish email from beginning to end. One of their employees wished me luck yesterday - said NO ONE is getting refunds from this gym or from the main corporation - they were very correct. I was advised to dispute through my card and even then I probably wouldn't get the full refund. read more

I signed up online a week ago and have been heading over there on a daily basis.... Interior is excellent, the machines are new, clean and well organized. The locker room is small, they have four shower area, but overall, the locker room isn't packed either... if you have the $20 a month membership, you get access to other areas and I have taken advantage of it... love the hydrobed massage and the massage chair - I'm always on it after my workout. Simply, there's no wait time for the equipment and the longest I have waited for a equipment was like a minute. However, there are some machines that they do not have compared to other gyms, but I guess you can't have all the equipments you want :) The staff are friendly and very easy going. The gym is open 24x5 (5am Mon to 9pm Fri) and 12 hours on Sat & Sun - from 7 to 7. Yeah, so things are nice, but they are things that they need to work on. For instance, the parking - it sucks. The parking lot is the same as it was back when the place was Hollywood Video Rental. The parking lot is hard to see and the surface is very rough. The other thing that I'm not a fan of... they force you to pay your monthly membership through your checking account, yet they charge you for the monthly fee on the credit card... I wish they would allow you to charge you the monthly membership on the credit card... otherwise, I'm glad they opened up on this side of town. read more

Even after complaining the locker room continues to be a daily pigsty. The showers are filthy with paper towel scraps, hair balls, and large patches of mold. Meanwhile 3 or 4 staff stand around at the front desk doing nothing. At other PF locations the staff stays busy keeping things nice Update January 2019 Today the water fountain remains out of order, waiting for a replacement part for a week. Work out no drinking water. Today the locker room looked like an alley, bottles and trash all over. Perhaps they clean weekly. Had a nice and long chat with the front desk staff. Ann Arbor Planet Fitness seems to have trouble retaining staff and they are short handed. Hmm. It shows. read more

This business is very misleading and set up to take advantage of its customers. I signed on with Planet Fitness in 2017. Due to personal issues I fell behind on my payments. For the last year or so I was making payments towards what I thought was an over due balance. Turns out that is not the case. Year contract means life long unless you tell them in person to cancel- this can not possibly be done over the phone. And if you have a balance unless you can pay that in full they will NOT LET YOU CANCLE YOUR MEMBERSHIP unless you pay on full and continue to charge you monthly for a gym membership they wont let you use. Even for years. At this moment Planet Fitness has basically stolen over 500 dollars from me and refuses to return a 50 dollar annual fee I payed for a gym I have not been to in over a year and will never go to again. Great facility at a fair price. The staff is friendly and helpful. Circuit training area, stretching area, ropes and kettle bells, along with a free weight area and machines that are well maintained. They additionally have massage and tanning beds. The locker rooms are clean, and the showers are well maintained. In terms of Gym stuff, this is your standard planet fitness. The equipment is usually functioning well and there are very few things that are "out of order". The showers are relatively clean and the locker room isn't super gross. The part that is annoying about this PF is the relatively lazy staff members. I go to PF to try and avoid sweaty meat heads grunting and slamming weights and not cleaning up after themselves. Three times I've brought behavior like this to staff's attention and not once have they put down their bag of potato chips to walk over and address the behavior. People also spend their elliptical time chatting loudly on their phones, something that is supposedly against the rules, yet no staff person ever has enforced the rules. So I guess my review would be great gym if you are prepared for crappy behavior from other gym participants. But if you are buying the PF line of "no lunks allowed", this is not your location. They are there and their behavior is unchecked. read more

Enormous location and plenty of free parking. I'm a Lyft driver. I joined to use the bathroom lol seriously because I'm a night driver. I use hydrotherapy three or four times a week it helps my back. I tore my meniscus delivering Grubhub three weeks after I joined. So after I'm cleared I'll start working out again. There are four hydro beds, massage chairs and tanning beds. I love Planet Fitness!! They have tons of workout equipment and easy to use machines. They even have q scanner code so you can watch a video and correctly use the machine. I have been to several Planet Fitness locations... this is without a doubt the cleanest. Not to knock the others I have been to, but any time of day I visit this location there is someone vacuuming and wiping equipment down. The free weights actually go up to 75 here which is nice and there is plenty of cardio equipment. Still hoping that someday they may get a free weight barbell or squat rack... but until then there are 4 smith machines at this location to make due with. This location also comes with the full ab and circuit corners. There is ample parking here also, so finding a spot has never been an issue to date. The black card zone at this location is also pretty nice, it seems that the tanning beds here have stronger bulbs than that of ypsi (not that I tan often, but they feel hotter). read more

I've been a black card member since Jan 2014 and have been regularly coming here since then. While I generally like it here, if I could find a better place, I would leave this gym in a heartbeat because it's gotten very crowded and it's too stuffy for me to workout it. Some pros: - Price: the regular monthly membership is $10, and the black card is $20. There's usually a sign-up fee plus an annual fee. Overall, this is so much cheaper than all the gyms around. - Equipment selection: there are a lot of different types of equipment available and many, many treadmills and ellipticals. - Large locker room - Hours: it's open 24/7. (This wasn't always the case, so this is a huge plus for me). - Nice atmosphere and people spray down the equipment. Cons: - Temperature: why is it always so stuffy? It doesn't matter what time of year or how many people there are, it is always too warm and humid. Mid Jan and -10F outside? Inside it will be 75F+ and humid. There is also very limited air flow. There are 2 (or 3?) large fans that move a little bit of air, but for that size of a gym, there needs to be better circulation. I like to get my run on, but sometimes have to cut my workout short due to overheating. - Lack of paper towels in the women's locker room: they refill them sporadically. According to my husband, they are always there in the men's locker room. As far as Black Card membership perks: The guest privileges are great and worth the price alone. The tanning beds are okay. I've used them a couple times and had about a 50-50 shot of getting one that works. I've never used the massage chairs. read more

This has been a clean and friendly gym with a good price (for the last 6 months). Looked at old reviews and honestly there are no dust bunnies around. People share and ask if your using something (more often than not) and I always see staff cleaning. My only critique which applies to all Planet Fitness locations is that there are small free weight selection and no free barbell areas (smith machines only). This gym has been pretty good for the most part and I've been coming here for years. One recent problem is the atrocious smith machines they just installed to replace the commercial grade units that were previously there.. instead they have "planet fitness " branded proprietary machines which are almost unusable for multiple reasons I won't get into. They are the most desired type machines in the place and there is almost always a line of people waiting to use them and rolling their eyes impatiently. A large number of users here don't possesses any proper gym Etiquette at all and will cut in front of you, steal your weights and stand inside the power rack doing exercises not even related to the machine while countless people wait.. they really need a number system or something. It's not the gyms fault that patrons have no manners or etiquette but it just amplifies the problems of the new crappy machines they installed. When I tried to express my thoughts to the desk clerks on the machines and why they are subpar I just got another eye roll lol.. I think it's time for me to try another gym as these are the only piece of equipment I use basically anymore. Oh well. read more

What do you want for $10 a month? The fees charged by most of the fitness centers in Ann Arbor are outrageous. I must admit I was spoiled living in Livonia with an upscale recreation center with all the bells and whistles, classes, competition pool, all for a couple's membership of $400 a year. Here in AA you're lucky if you can find a place for $400 a month! (insert sarcasm) The cons, the whole "judgment free" -- and yes there's no E in judgment people! -- zone and no "no gymtimidation," the "no lunk" zone, reeks a little of the sad era in which we live, where everyone gets a trophy after the game is over. Another con: The persistent reminder to make people chemically clean their equipment after each use? (sigh) All those chemicals just can't be beneficial for anyone. I think individuals can judge just how sweaty they are and clean accordingly. They are a bit lacking on variety of machines compared to a Fitness 19, but with the free weights one can certainly get the job done. The cardio equipment is top notch, iPod caddys--even tho I'm an Android girl it's still a nice touch-- headphone jacks for the TVs. Parking adequate. First time to this facility on stadium in Ann Arbor. Very disappointing because it is filthy. When I opened the door the odor of sweat, dirt and body odor hit me loud and clear! Ladies restroom was dirty as well, floor was littered with all kinds of stuff, even their Famous tootsie roll wrappers. The workout out equipment had a layer of dusts on each piece and many dust bunnies under each and every piece. It is very obvious the management is not as caring as other planet fitness facilities. I am so glad this facility is not my main planet fitness as I would not have joined!! read more

For $10/month, you get a great value. Look for deals time to time where there's a $0 initiation fee. The machines are fairly new. I used the treadmills to keep my running routine going strong during the winter. The cleanliness is amazing. I once saw a worker scrubbing a bench with a toothbrush. Club etiquette is to disinfect and wipe down a machine after use. There's also some weird etiquette things here. I saw a guy drop his weights and the employees sounded "the lunk alarm" on him.. Very loud with lights. It was kind of funny but the guy looked embarrassed. Also, the club has a very "you're ok the way you are" vibe which is good but I personally don't find it motivating and inspirational when working out and pushing myself to go that extra mile. For the value, I recommend this place. Due to lack of classes, it isn't the complete fitness solution for me but a great place to go if you want to use the machines (and weights if you don't drop them.) read more

Honestly you can't ask for too much more with a $10 a month price tag. Open 24 hours, the gym allows me to come in when the crowds are scarce at 4:30 am (cringe). During the "New Years resolution months", coming at peak hours is a joke, as you have to wait for machines. Otherwise, they have plenty of cardio machines, weight machines, and free weights. I love the 30-minute circuit as well, and that's never busy. The gym is kept clean, aside from seeing tootsie roll wrappers smushed inside of cup holders (yes, really). But when I'm there in the mornings I see how tentatively the employees work to keep the gym sanitary. Generally, I can't really complain about this place! read more

I like Planet Fitness: It's clean, comparatively inexpensive and the staff are friendly. The staff at PF are constantly cleaning. I like that. Cleanliness and maintenance are critical to a place like this, particularly while it's shiny and new. Memberships are either $10 or $20 per month, depending on which perks you want. It's hard to beat $10 per month. There are rows of ellipticals, treadmills and stair-stepper type things. There are plenty of weight machines and areas dedicated to stretching, ab workouts, and a 30 minute planned workout. The layout is simple but effective. I'm not a free weights person, but there appear to be plenty of those. Inevitably there are a few lunk-like bodybuilder types who monopolize machines, refuse to wipe their sweat off things, gaze lovingly at themselves in the mirror and generally act like jackasses, but they are relatively few in number. The prevailing atmosphere is one of keeping to oneself rather than checking out the opposite sex. Or the same sex, if you're so inclined. There are always exceptions to the rule, but most people aren't there for the show. A few points where they could improve: There are 4 showers in the men's locker room, but only 3 hooks for clothes. Not everyone shares well. Nuff said there. There's only one machine for dips, and there's often a line. Two would be nice. I'd also like to be able to use my credit card rather than my checking account for billing, but that's not a deal-breaker. The place gets very crowded after work (5-6 pm), but again, what fitness center doesn't? My membership comes due in July, and I'll probably renew since running outside in Michigan in January isn't a realistic option for me. read more

So let's see. Go in today and look at the signs for distancing due to Whitmire s order. I have a handicap and can only do an elliptical machine. Can't ride a bike, cant do the rowing machine. All if the ellipticals infront of what I'd like to watch have a sign on it. Since there is NOT another person near me, I move the sign to the rower and start the elliptical. Mind you, there are 3 machines closed to both sides of me. The manager comes up and says that I can't do that. I explain why, he's not being an ass, but would not accept my handicap as a reason. That's ok, I just cancelled. If NO exception can be made for Americans with a disability, it's not an organization I want to frequent. The location of this gym is really nice but it can definitely get busy during peak hours. Since it's newly opened, the machines and up-keep of the gym is nice. I used to go to the one in Ypsilanti and you can tell there's a big difference in terms of the staff, cleanliness, and appearance of the gyms.
