I have the PF black card and have been to most of the gyms in Maine & elsewhere. The good; The Bangor PF has plenty of machines for anything you want. The not so good; this place is really filthy. Bales of dust & hair are everywhere underneath dumbell racks, around the bases of machines and on the bottom of lockers. Kind of gross. Each day around 3 the sun hits the nearby bank skylights and sends a retina-searing, lincoln arc welder-like white light into the space. Really difficult to see with the blinding solar glare - but what you do see is every spec of dust/hair/detrius on the floor, on machines, etc.. I realize he light thing is not their fault but maybe get some glare screens for the windows? Lastly, it's cramped - tons of machines but not a lot of space around them to work out comfortably, you are really on top of each other. The gym has great potential though & I hope that they improve! read more

It took complaining on yelp to get thing moving, however they did finally address the issues and now everything is working fine, they even replaced some parts that were just warn and not broken. Once again happy with Planet Fitness read more

If you are remotely fit you are not welcome here. We were threatened by a manager to revoke our membership because someone complained about us. (No one complained about us - she just wanted to make us feel unwelcome for not fitting into their target clientele- google planet fitness and see how many complaints they have from fit people being judged and harassed.). It seems that they keep their prices low so people can justify spending 10-20 month and never show up. They would rather have customers be out of shape and never wear out the equipment. They said my husbands shirt being fitted was making members feel intimidated. We we're minding our own business making no noice whatsoever and had no different clothing attire than others that were present at the same time. So a facility who says no judgment - judges more than any place we have ever been. So to take the personal lookism experience out of the equation showers were filthy as well as the changing rooms and it looked like they hadn't been cleaned. Several areas throughout the place seemed like they needed maintenance - it may be a self cleaning shower since they leave bottles of cleaning products in front of each shower stall... so plan on having to clean up after strangers before you shower here. And that's just the female locker room - my husband refused to even shower there because he felt it was so unclean read more

So I decided to join planet fitness I go , I did the appropriate paperwork, paid $39 activation fees figuring $10 a month isn't bad, a month later I get charged another $39, and my $10 monthly fees in one month I was charged $50 the first month I was charged $40 I've only been there for two months for two separate memberships it has cost me $180! I could have pain a full year for that . I feel that they a ripping people off . I will finish my full year there but after that they will NEVER get my money and I will tell everyone I know what a freaking rip off they are !!! Thank you for your response, but people go to that gym because it is supposed to be cheaper. And with all your fees we could have gone to a better gym for a lot less . It doesn't have enough equipment to satisfy all my families need , never mind someone that really needs it . read more

I joined planet fitness sometime between 2016 and 2017, Apparently in May. It was great at first open 24 hours, clean, not too busy ( except in Januarys), and had very friendly and efficient staff. After they closed for the pandemic I walked into a fresh newly remodeled wirelesseekend hours were drastically cut. That was a bummer. Fast forward to May 2023. The gym is very crowded. Free weight weekendsuck. And the hydro massage chairs, I paid extra for, are always out of order and leaking. That's not why I left. I tore my hamstring and in this economy that extra $23 makes a difference for a service you can't use until further notice. I made sure to cancel my membership two weeks before the next billing cycle. BUYER BEWARE, you will be charged if you don't do it ten days prior. What I didn't expect was a call from my bank that I had an overdraft PF charge and they charged me $5 a day. How could this be? I canceled my membership in plenty of time. I called my local planet fitness. They explained that two days earlier my " annual fee" was due. I asked the manager to please reverse my charges since I quit and the unexpected fee was causing me hardship. He said he couldn't and corporate would allow it. I asked to speak to corporate. The rudest, worst customer service rep I have ever had the displeasure of speaking to repeatedly spoke over me BEGGING him to reverse the fee that hit. It ispingndable fee, you signed a contract..its a nonrefundable fee, you signed a contract..would you like a copy of the contract, Mam, you signed the contract. There ​ when it comes to planet fitness corporate. Yes, I signed the contract years ago, before a single sack of groceries cost $100. I never even noticed before the crushing inflation coupled with my injury making it impossible for me to work or work out. We are talking about a three day gap. To which he replied, if you didn't cancel ten days prior to the ANNUAL fee ( thick comes a random 17 days before the monthly fee, once a year) it wouldn't have made a difference. So be warned. If your circumstances should change and you ask them for any decency, you will he denied. You get what you pay for... Don't forget that once a year you'll pay double at some random date. I mean, I get it, they are the cheapest gym around. But they are a corporation, you're just a number. Your yearsdication doesn't department. I will join a local gym that isn't filled with *holes at the top. Working out is my passion. At approximately 5:00 pm on Friday January 31, 2020. I noticed that my drawstring bag which I have been carrying to your gym for years was no longer hanging on the hook near your front desk. I went to your front desk to report it and noticed it on the floor behind your counter. When I told the young ladies behind the counter it was mine. They rudely, loudly and disrespectful my informed me that I was not allowed to hang it there because of how we as members have been breaking the hooks and it was only for keys. Now I don't have issue with rule changes. I don't have a problem conforming to new criteria. I do take issue with being address in a manner, in the presence of other members, in manner that was unprofessional and did not reflect any empathy, kindness nor politeness. Had it been explained to me that way this email is not sent to you. I have been a member for years and have left several times due to type of service. The black girl with glasses and curly hair and the white girls behind the counter were not only unapologetic but justified their rudeness by double downing and reiterating that they were only doing what you instructed due us as members being destructive to the property. My bad nothing but protein powder in a container which thy caused to spill by simply throwing my bag was just thrown on floor carelessly with no regard for my property on the floor and protein powder was spilled and is not cheap. My bag contained also my driving glasses which could have been broken. This not good business practices or customer care. An hour later, I got approached by the black girl with glasses hollering at me in front of a young male planet fitness employee in which I was addressing my concerns anf a friend of mine about her not appreciating me stalking about the incident I had with her and her coworker and she walked away saying she spoke with her manager and he will speaking with me, as if I did something wrong, laughing about how she didn't appreciate me speaking with the other members who were friends of mine and one of your employees about my concerns. I am fifty years old and I have never been disrespected as a customer and never felt so utterly demeaned and humiliated. Instantly when I walked in, I was greeted by Bailey who went out of his way to accommodate me on my visit. A great location that is well kept from the staff and nothing but a great experience here. This is great, no frills gym that offers tanning to boot. The first Monday of every month is pizza Monday and second Tuesday of every month is bagel Tuesday. While I think free pizza may be counter productive to why many go to the gym, there is nothing better than eating greasy pizza after a hard workout. This little gym has quite a few treadmills, but when after work there are never enough. Sometimes, I wish you they had a sign that said "Now Serving number: " This general problem happens on the weight machines as well as the free weights. For $10 to $20 a month you can beat the price though; however for $10 to $20 a month you also don't get a lot of bells and whistles that many of us like. read more

I was from out of town and this was the first Planet Fitness I've ever been to. $20 for a day pass is literally $20 too much. The staff didn't look like they knew anything about fitness and collectively could maybe curl a 35 lb dumb bell. The place was dirty especially the locker room and the staff started mopping the floors while people were working out. That's kinda dangerous. No barbells to do real lifting and the machines looked outdated and not well taken care of and one of the cable machines was broken and way to many cardio machines. It felt like they tried to stuff the place full of machines and it felt cramped. Planet Fitness is the Spanx of the gym world. read more

WARNING - This is a review of the facility, not the franchise. It's pretty safe to assume that, if you're reading this, you are familiar with Planet Fitness. The best analogy I can come up with is that it is the "fast food" of fitness; there when you need it, delivering a consistent product regardless of location and you, for the most part, know what you are getting in to. That being said, it is also akin to the fast food franchises in that it has some misleading things about it. The "PE at PF" program is a bit like the "healthy choice" options at various chains, for the people who need that it will do what you need it to do however, don't expect miracles. The Bangor Planet Fitness meets all the criteria of a large fitness facility and exceeds in many ways. It is large and very spacious. I never felt crowded or fighting for a machine whether it be cardio or weight training. They have many ellipticals (both Arc Trainers and standard EFX machines), Tread mills, and fitness bikes (recumbent and standard). One of the nicest things about the Bangor PF is the locker room; it is clean, roomy, and well maintained. The showers (all 3 of them?!?) are clean and each has its own private changing room should you want it. In short, it is one of the nicer and well kept PF's I have visited. As promised, the Lunk factor is exceptionally low with no weight dropping, grunting, or yelling in any of my multiple visits. read more

Back in March wrote a letter to cancel my PF membership as it had to be signed. I have now in July and August STILL been debited through my checking account despite signing a second document. Have spoken to manager who then gave me someone else's email--they are not writing back. I wonder just how many people did not "notice" that they are still being charged despite having written (as instructed) to cancel their memberships?? This is not only not all right it is not legal. Planet Fitness is an amazing gym! The location is perfect and regardless of time of day, it's usually never crowded. There is an awesome variety of free weights, machines, treadmills, bikes, and stair-steppers. People are respectful and mindful of others and the staff is nice and knowledgable. Whether you are a white- or black-card member, it's definitely worth the trip. I've belonged to this gym for 3+ months and I would recommend it to anyone! read more

This is a good quality gym that offers very affordable memberships, ranging from $10 to $20 per month. My husband and I have the Black Card membership and have been coming here for about 8 years now. The staff has always been great and the locker rooms are always very clean and well maintained. This gym recently expanded and is now twice the size that it used to be, so you never feel crowed while working out. They've also added some new equipment, including Arc trainers. There is also tanning and hydro massage available. Another bonus is that they are open 24 hours a day during the week. If you're in need of a good, affordable gym, I'd highly recommend Planet Fitness. read more

Rude staff dirty gym. What more can I say? The front desk associate has been extremely rude on multiple occasions. No this is not my main club and yes I have to sign the paper. But holy crap, you don't have to be so rude during check in.... smile, enjoy your job! You give that club a bad name. And trust me, I'm not the person to say something negative about a business but I feel that strongly that said person needs an attitude adjustment. I've been a member/gone with someone who's a black card member a number of times. Less because I find the cost too high, just that I get too lazy to keep going. But I always feel better leaving. The gym itself is nice and the locker room is clean ( at least the male's). The staff is friendly. I have not worked with all of the trainers, but i will not after the experience with Vanessa. She was late for multiple sessions, would do her own workout while supposed to be doing a training session. Stopped training early because " she hadn't eaten all day". Would train multiple people at the same time. Remember she is taking your money while she does all this. So if these are the types of trainers planet fitness has help their customers I would say go find a different gym that uses professionals. read more

I've been going here for a couple years now, and realistically this place has everything you'll need except for barbells (which gets slightly annoying). This place is convenient and the environment is extremely enjoyable. I would recommend this gym to someone that's trying to get in shape, or someone that's already in shape. The facility is much like other PF locations and I am ok with that. I know what to expect and I enjoy the cardio equipment, especially during the cold winter months in Maine. What I don't get is the focus on equipment cleanliness and the likely 10+/- towel dispensing stations throughout the gym but none in the locker room. Keeping the equipment clean makes sense to me. However, prior to converting to the hand dryers, the same towel dispensers were in the locker room and I would guess most customers cleaned the sink area they used when done. Now, the counter tops are really gross. There's no paper towels for patrons to clean after themselves. Again before converting to the hand dryers the sinks were never as dirty as they are now. Maybe not all, but I'd guess most, patrons cleaned after themselves. Additionally, shower stalls now have no shower curtains. I just wanted to make sure the employees were aware of this so I mentioned it on the way out and she was in fact aware. The response was the corporation had to make budget cuts. read more

Ive been a member for 22 days now and I have not missed a day working out yet and down 22 lbs, I use mostly the treadmills and have only had to wait to get one once and that was only about a minute.And Ive been there at all different times. They keep the place nice and clean, the employees are great, signing up for the tanning beds is never a problem as long as you sign up for after your workout, the atmophere of everyone working out makes me more motivated, its a great place, another PF in the Hermon Plaza would be awesome! read more
