I was there 3 times because I accidentally started a member ship there. I wanted to start the membership at a different location. The first time I was there, the next day after I started the membership. I told the employee that he should cancel my membership, as the contract says this is allowed, (I did the yearly membership) and he said he canceled it and confirmed that I have the black card membership now!!! That is what the club agreement says: 9. Cancellation Rights (Buyer's Rights) As a buyer you have the following rights: (A) If you, because of death or disability, are unable to use or receive all services contracted for, you, or your estate as the case may be, shall be liable for only that portion of the charges allocable to the time prior to death or the onset of disability. Planet Fitness shall in such event have the right to require and verify reasonable evidence of such death or disability. (B) You may cancel this agreement within 3 business days after the first business day after the agreement is signed by you, and all monies paid pursuant to said contract shall be refunded to you. For the purposes of this Section, business day shall mean any day on which the facility is open for business. He confirmed that he canceled the yearly membership and that I got the black card now! I went in my app and had the black card. He said I will not have to pay the yearly total of 229$ but the monthly amount for the black card. If that was true everything would have been alright. But that was not true as it turned out. After a few days later i was still back to my other membership at 4646 S. Damen Ave, Chicago, IL and i couldn't access the black membership card anymore. I was at the gym two more times to talk to employees, and they always took note of it and said they will get back to me as there is nobody from management here anymore. I cannot go to that gym because it is way too far away from my home place. I still have no solution for my problem because all of the employees seem to be way too incompetent to help me on that problem and i am really fed up and will have to take further steps now! read more

After years of attending this gym... the previous staff would leave the washroom clean and smelling good. Currently, the new staff leave the washrooms smelling like urine . A lot of machines are out of service. read more

Wouldn't even know where to begin, I've been a black card member of the Damen location since 2015, 8 years and some change that an extremely non levelheaded, childish club manager basically wiped out in less than a minute on her computer I came in wanting to work out one day and was stopped by the manager and her employee about some supposed fee that was left unaccounted for. She told me that I had owed $35 dollars for a payment that wasn't received according to her computer. The payment was for the base monthly subscription fee and 15 dollars for paying late. I had issues with the job that I had lost and for a while I wasn't coming to the gym like I normally do. So the automatic payment with-drawl obviously did not go through. But I got my shit together, got paid, and 3-4 days prior to that day when the club manager stopped me I had in fact, paid the full amount of 35 dollars. One of the employees wrung me out and gave me a receipt for it. I have an electronic with-drawl receipt from the banking app that I used as well. Now 3-4 days later the Club manager and and her employee are telling me that my payment wasn't valid. That in their system it did not go through. That there has to be some kind of issue and that I need to sort it out with my Bank. I'm a person who likes to understand things so right off the bat I asked questions and told her that I had In fact paid my full amount with a different employee who she then called to the counter. The employee also verbally confirmed that he did in fact ring me out and give me a receipt. Since the day that I had paid off the 35 dollars I had been to that very same gym and scanned my membership QR code 3 separate times. Nobody batted an eye or said anything. The Manager did though. And in her condescending tone she right away started to tell me that it was my issue and that I needed to get it situated myself and to talk to my bank and handle it on my own because according to their system she did not have the payment and it's out of Planet Fitness hands. When I asked if I could speak to corporate she consistently said "I am corporate" "there is nobody above me" "if you want to talk to somebody you gotta go through me" I even asked her her name several times throughout the conversation and she said "I don't have to tell you anything" As a supposed "corporate" manager I found it kind of incredible someone at that tier in the company would be so unprofessional to say that. Every now and then we would stop speaking for a little while so she can go on her computer and print out some reports that (told me nothing), and she would mutter under her breath "I was trying to help you but since you wanna catch an attitude" And I promise you I'm a level headed individual, I keep it calm cool and collected at all times. I don't speak over people when it's their turn to speak. I don't call anybody out their name. I don't raise my voice at anybody. She did all of that. She acted like a petty child. I did nothing to this person to warrant her lame ass, crude reaction. After awhile of me and her going back and forth all while her maintaining her condescending tone. I started to leave holding the papers she gave me (which literally told me nothing) supposedly stating that there was no payment accepted, and as I leave in my frustration i said "I've been a member for 8 years and now what... I'm not Shit?" The look on her face was priceless. But she said that "just for that your membership is getting revoked" and just like that In a couple keyboard clicks she erased my membership entirely. I turned around surprised and asked her why she did that and she said "I'm a grown ass woman, you not finna talk to me like that in my club, you not finna cuss at me like that" And as I tried to correct her and tell her that I called myself a not-shit individual she just stayed quiet. Embarrassed because all of the staff were behind her and all the other club members were watching I argued no further there. And I left. Obviously I spent the next day trying to get some justice and figure out what happened and how I can get my member ship back. I found something interesting. As it turns out ** 90% OF PLANET FITNESS CLUBS NATIONWIDE ARE PRIVATELY OWNED. THEY DO NOT HAVE A SET CORPORATE STRUCTURE.** Basically meaning if you have an issue with some or ALL of the employees at your specific locations club, dialing the "corporate" hotline on google will do you no good. It's quite literally up to the Club manager what or how they want to deal with you and 9/10 it seems like they can do whatever they want. I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING TO PLANET FITNESS AT ALL. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR MEMBERS. 8 years of me having absolutely no issues and all of it was thrown away by someone with a short temper and petty behavior. I truly hope and wish her career takes her as far as a Planet Fitness Club Manger would. read more

I been going to planet since they been open when I come in I always ask them to hold my keys cause they lockers alway get broken into I came to this one on 43 and damen and the young man lied to my face saying they have different rules And couldn't hold my keys. It's a little dirty but has all the equipment you need. Occasionally others may call you out for staring if you're just standing there. So make sure to let them know you just want to be next. I like to move the smaller bench to the stretching area for more privacy. read more

I love going to this Planet Fitness location as it is conveniently located near many shops. This location has a tanning bed, hydro beds, massage chairs, and of course fitness classes. You will not find the infrared lighting service at this gym but this service would be a great addition. My only other issue is the cleanliness of the women's locker room. Each time I have been to this location the toliet area was untidy. This lack of service has made me uncomfortable with using their showers. By the way, majority of the drinks are half off with your black card except the Red Bull which is BOGO. read more

I usually go to the location in little village but on the weekend I switch up a bit. I go to the back of the yard location. This gym have some equipment my other gym I go don't have and Vice versa. I love here and I go in the early morning around 9-10am. Usually not much people. Have not try coming here in the evening. Equipment clean. read more

Due to personal reasons, it took a year to finally get used to this gym and be more familiarize with their equipment as I started to be more consistent. Just wish they have more smith machines, kettlebells, and the place was a bit bigger. read more

On May 26, 2014 (Memorial Day holiday), the Back of the Yards facility closed one hour earlier than scheduled. The staff turned away 6 members at the door, including me, claiming they had already shut down their computers and needed to leave early. Several members at the entrance were upset because we all called prior to showing up to assure they would remain open before 7PM, as the flier indicated, only to be told we could not enter. I specifically spoke to Jazmin, and she apologized at the door because she was told by another staff member to close early. We asked to speak with the manager who ordered the facility to be closed, but the staff refused to disclose that information. A young lady unapologetically came out to speak and let us know she is the person who ordered the facility to be closed early, but refused to give us her name at that moment, and walked back into the facility and locked the doors. I took a picture of the flier at the door that indicated the facility would be open until 7PM. Jazmin later came out of the facility and ran a block away to where I was walking to apologize and tell me the computers were on again and disclosed the other young lady's name who order the facility to be closed early was "Star." I would like to speak to a manager about facility hours because I am a black card member, and if you are going to be closing any time you want without notice, why am I paying for a membership at all?! read more

The tanning beds never work, the associates are always laying on the tanning beds. When asking to use the tanning beds all of the associates personal items have to be removed before realizing they still don't work. It's been MONTHS. read more

The staff is very friendly and chill. They just clean around and don't bother you. Very helpful and always in a good mood, even in the mornings. I would recommend going at around 12pm if you don't really like crowds. It's always clean and the people the go there mind their own business. read more

This location is smaller than most locations in Chicago and suburbs but has plenty of parking. You can accomplish your basic fitness goals here. There are massage beds and a room that says "tanning" I have not tried out the beds yet but they seem to work every time I'm there. That leads me to this....there are ALWAYS machines, several machines that are not working and are NEVER fixed. To this day the machines still have signs stating out of order. It appears it is not a priority. Lastly, there is ALWAYS a leak.....several leaks around the facility. The staff are friendly and maintain the workout areas quite well. My next step is to contact corporate about the out of order machines that should have been fixed months ago. read more

gym is kept clean and stocked. Never had to ask for anything. I usually go in the mornings and Leslie (employer at planet) is usually there always on time and very helpful and generous. I say on time because before her I had issue with planet fitness staff being there in the mornings. no one would be there but the janitor so if I had to check in or had questions I had no help. When I first applied here they were very respectful. I liked how they acknowledged the LGBTQ+ community. They asked about my pronouns and made sure they respected those pronouns. Of course the staff are great people, especially the manager Kimberly is very friendly.She throughly explained how certain machines worked and for what part of the body it works on. Decent location. A decent sized planet fitness with a great amount of cardio and strength training machines. They also had massage chairs which don't look inviting. The bathroom/locker always seems kept. Front desk staff is always welcoming and helpful with questions. read more

Good place to workout they just recently upgraded their machines which is a plus & accomadating.

This place is just ok...no wifi no instructors, no real motivation. Basically I pay to walk aimlessly on a treadmill for a short period of time to avoid data overages on my phone plan. You'd really be better off just buying a piece of fitness equipment from hsn qvc or Costco and put your $20 a month on that. With the gas savings I'm sure you'd break even. read more

I came to Chicago for five weeks to be with my father who was going through chemotherapy and radiation for cancer. I was glad Planet Fitness was in the neighborhood. I joined for just those five weeks without any hassle. They gym was spacious, never crowded, and very clean. They had everything I needed. I especially liked the 12-Minute Ab room! The staff was super helpful, especially Carlos who came over and had me correct my form on one of the machines for better results. This location is fantastic. Depending on your goal, the equipment is on point for most, if not all, of your fitness needs. The environment is friendly as is the customer service, particularly Leslie (front desk). I met her this morning and she's a gem! She greeted me with great energy and a smile as well as when I left. Most of all it's CLEAN! I have to shower and ready myself for work after my morning workout. I was more than happy with the cleanliness of the men's bath/locker room. There is also plenty of parking. I only wish there were towel hooks and something to place your soap on while showering. read more

I just love the size of this gym but truly hate how they aren't 24hrs. Wish they would at least close later Friday-Sunday!!! I love this place. Every time come in I feel so welcome. Monica signed me up and walked Me through the facility and showed me all the machines and areas. Sergio is always so helpful at the front desk and is so knowledgable about policies and ready to answers my questions. Julissa and Stephany are so cute and welcoming when I come in in the evening. Tim and Antwan always say hi when they are cleaning the machines. I never had a problem with the staff and there is always a treadmill or elliptical machine ready and available when I come in. I like this planet fitness, although it's smaller than other ones I've been to its kept clean and customer service is very nice. The problem I have is with other members. Constantly on their phone and always staring at you, you cant wrk out in peace with out being watched by older men. read more
