Sanitizing , cleaning spray for bugs maintenance it's very nasty and there are cockroaches as well as over loaded garbage cans I'm sure the equipment needs to be sanitized as well very poor quality good upkeeing read more

Pool is very dirty all time i've tried to be there because is Close to me but everytim e is dirty. There is always snot,Hair, gabage, even and the eater has a bad smell. We don't need that much chlorine. read more

LOVE this place even though it is a little less than perfect. It is wonderful to have a health club like this in Gage Park - - and walking distance for me! This club is a bit smaller than others but still has a lot to offer. Treadmills, elliptical and step machines and three types of bicycles are on the first floor. The yoga /exercise class room is just past the machine area. An elevator to the second floor can be found just before you enter a hallway that leads to the locker rooms. There is also a staircase to the second floor. Speaking for the ladies locker room, it is quite nice. The doors of the lockers are wood and give the room a "rich" look. It is rather elegant unlike the club at Pershing and Rockwell which is a newer club also and larger than this one. I noticed that they recently added a scale to the locker room. I was used to having a scale in the ladies locker rooms of Bally's (and Chicago Health before that!). The sauna is in the back. There are six showers. The pool is smaller than others, but it is still a decent size. Likewise, the whirlpool. Weight area, basketball court and personal training area are on the second floor. The staff is friendly. There is a pretty nice selection of classes. There is a parking garage kitty-corner from the club. Street parking is also pretty good. Ways to turn this review to 5 stars : 1). Add curtains to exercise room windows so a yoga class can be more private and peaceful. 2). Add shades to west windows. The sun can be quite uncomfortable later in the day. 3) Place some comfy chairs near weught machines so that members who need to text might be inclined to use the chairs instead of taking up space on a weight machine. (Is there some way that a person can build muscle by just sitting at weight machine while they text that I don't know about??) 4). Email club members if the sauna, pool, hot water or elevator aren't working. It would be nice to be forewarned. It would also be nice to know when things are fixed :) read more

The kettle bells are locked up because it takes staff an extra 30 min to find them at the end of the day. This sounds like a management problem. So, I can't use the kettle bells because you're tired of looking for them. There should something else that's implemented that won't make the members suffer. It's not my problem that you don't want to look for them, I paid for membership. Damn near BECAUSE of availability of kettle bells. #PoorManagement #LazyAsHell read more

I hate that ppl go to gym and work out but can't re rack the weights and are everywhere around the gym you never can find anything and staff don't go and clean either after the weights. But it starts with the Coustomer's re racking the weights and what is it with taking off some of the cleaning stations and paper stations too?? Really? Lost two stars from my previous review. I visited 2 weeks ago and the mini lockers were malfunctioning, I even stood there and showed the guy how at least 6 of them were malfunctioning. At that time, only the janitor had the key and I had to wait for them to find her and the dude didn't even know how to work the key to release the lock. You're supposed to set the combo, turn the lock, and shuffle the combo to secure the lock. But something is wrong with the tumblers that aren't recognizing the combination correctly. To check it, I always set the combination and lock/unlock before putting my items in. If it works, I put my items in and shuffle the combination. I did that this time, thinking it was fixed; but when my combination didn't work YET AGAIN, I brought the situation up to the assistant manager. He said he was aware of my complaint before, but didn't confirm whether or not they had had it looked at. Then he proceeded to ask me if I read the instructions. He was seemingly polite yet condescending. He said that no one else has complained about it, that I was the first one. So just because I'm the first one to complain, you're going to let an issue go unresolved and make your member feel like they're stupid, like their issue is invalid? The customer service here sucks. Get better staff or this place is going to decline quickly. read more

Take your business elsewhere or work out outdoors. They over charge your for yearly fees, when you freeze your account, and they joke with the free one month perk, but it comes when you cancel your account. So if you never cancel your account, you never get the "free" one month offer. They are clowns. When you ask them for information on fees you get charged to your account they refer you to a call center and they dont answer their calls. Take your business to another place. read more

Nice new gym (less than two years old and NOT a former Bally, either) with all new equipment. I go to many other locations and this one is great! I do a lot of cross city commuting, and I can wait out the rush hour by getting in a workout is a win-win for me. Haven't tried the pool or whirlpool, so no comment on that yet. read more

This LA fitness is in a perfect location, very close to home; however, The employees are unprofessional. I hear them curse on a daily basis. Most of the time they seem like they're hanging out and chilling like some high school students. One of the main managers that are always picking up weights and making sure the place is clean is the reason this is a 2 star and not lower. I will finish it by saying that for a Gym It frustrates me that it's not open 24/7 or at least open later and earlier because for a full-time college student that also works it's hard to wrap up my workouts before the gym closes. Just stop cursing so much and increase the hours that your open. read more

I was looking for a new gym and visited the LA on Kedzie. I signed up for a week guest pass to try out the new gym. At the time I was looking into different gyms and narrowing down my decision. I was brought to a manger for approval of my guest pass. This manger was unprofessional, cursed in his language, made me feel pressured to sign, and made me feel uncomfortable. I was told I can only receive a 1 day guest pass which was the same day I visited with an hour left before closing. There was no reason why he only gave me 1 day besides the fact that it was the "manger's discretion". I told him repeatedly that I was in no rush in committing yet and would love to see if I fit in in LA. However, he did not acknowledge that and gave me reasons why I was wrong for waiting. read more

Brand new I'm in love. Lots of equipment. Pool yes. Personal trainers. Parking. Classes a plus. Finally a nice gym in the south side area.

We enrolled to LA Fitness last month and we have been enjoying everything about the gym. Today I was able to train with one of the personal trainers there and I really enjoyed it. It motivated me to keep going and get healthy again. I am a beginner when it comes to working out. I learned a lot of things just in my complimentary session with Fe the trainer. I really wanted to sign up to the training programs but didn't have enough funds. Hopefully, when I get paid I can get the same price they were offering me today. Everyone at LA Fitness are really nice and helpfully. I will highly recommend the location to my friends and the personal trainers to others. read more

The kid klub is terrible/nasty the staff not watching the kids. I had seen another child pushing and kicking my child while the staff talking with one another. I talk with the manger and he is no better then the rest. read more

Well the gym is ok but they openly allow young BOYS in the female locker room. NOW..I am not talking about toddlers, but BOYS aged 12. I saw two (on two different occasions) in the locker room and asked ONE why was he in there? He said he was waiting for his sister. I told his SISTER that he was too old to be in the women's lockers room since he stated that he was 12!!!!! That is gross and inappropriate for a pre-teen to be in the women's lockers room where women UNDRESS!!! I complained to management and pretty much was laughed off. If I see it again, I am reporting to DCFS; this is a form of ABUSE....its called CHILD ENDANGERMENT!!!!! read more

Very bad place to work out. Place is always packed with people and the parking lot is horrible because of the homeless looking into cars. Maintenance of this places is also horrible floors are always wet In locker rooms. read more

I received a 3-day guest pass from my sister for LA Fitness. She received it from a different location and it wasn't handled properly at that location. However, I came to this location since it was closer to where I live and Saul helped me figure out the problem and within a few minutes at that. I really appreciated their help here and would recommend this location to anyone for customer service. It makes a huge difference when people are kind and helpful. It does not go unnoticed. New facility! Had a legit training session with Elijah Ramos, very informed, very helpful trainer, I've had trouble with injury and he worked around it to help condition those specific muscles,highly recommended! Big space with lots of machines and basketball/volleyball with spin classes, hoping they add more spin classes to the schedule. read more

My husband and I have been waiting for this place to open since August 2015, I guess they kept hitting a few snags because they didn't open til March. And even then the city closed it for a week or so. Pretty much standard equipment for a new gym, you gotta give them time to acquire more classes. I had my "glutes" handed to me on my first assessment (hah get it) Fe sure knows how to push you beyond your limits. I didn't give 5stars because I was kinda disappointed of the gym itself after all the waiting I did, the Plaza it's on is still unfinished. This place certainly has its hours that it's packed, especially the Kid Zone gets crowded with its 20 kid limit, afterwards there's a wait list. And unless you really, really, need to I don't recommend using the underground pedway. Just walk it from the parking garage. Overall it's a good gym to start out. Love that there's a decent amount of proper cleaning stations (paper towel dispenser, hand sanitizer, etc), Planet Fitness just places a spray bottle and a roll of napkins by a trash can.. Summer is coming so there should be new member offers and specials. So if you're not too into a hurry, wait for those to join. read more

I live a few blocks away and I love the fact that this gym is so close to me. I haven't had a problem with staff. I had a free personal trainer assessment with orchid she was really nice and gave me really good tips. Something I dislike is that some members don't pick up or clean up after themselves. On a good note I enjoy coming here and getting a good workout. Can't say much about the showers or the pool because I don't like public showers but that's just my personal preference. Maybe I'll give the pool a shot once it gets nicer outside :) read more

The gym itself was great but my complaint is about an employee and the manager. On Monday 7/25/16, I went online to the LA Fitness website and applied for a 3 day guest pass. About an hour later I drove to the location with the guest pass on my phone and I was helped by a seemingly nice employee named Larry, didnt catch his last name, but he was a young Latino about 22-23 years old. Larry gave me a tour of the facility and sat down with me to go over some personal and fitness questions for his Fitness Analysis form as well as to talk to me about membership fees. I told him that my fiance was a member but that I would like to see how I like the gym in the next 3 days before I sign up for a membership or before Im added to my fiance's membership. After all of that, he then tells me that for the 3 day pass they usually require that the new guest wait 24 hours from when the application was done and for an appointment to be made at the facility. I asked him if the appointment was pretty much for what we had already done (the tour and the questions) and he said "pretty much" so I didnt get the reasoning behind the possibility of me having to make an appointment for the next day. Plus, I did not see that in any of the terms and conditions for the 3 day pass or on the pass itself. He then said that he would talk to his manager Phil Avila for me because he was the one that had to give him the activation code so that the 3 day pass could go into effect and Phil had stepped out briefly. I expressed some disappointment with me having to go back in 24 hours because I was already dressed in work out clothes and ready to get started today. Larry then told me to go ahead and start my work out while he waited for Phil, but he held on to my driver's license so he could talk to Phil when he got back and so I would have to come find him when I was done with my workout. When I was done working out, I go get my driver's license from Larry (which he had some trouble finding). I ask him if my guest membership was good through Wednesday and he tells me that his manager (who had already arrived) only approved it for one day, meaning today only. WTF?? I actually did have a pleasant experience working out there for the 45 minutes I was there and I was seriously considering signing up for the membership. I do not understand why Phil would not approve the 3 day pass and I do not see anywhere on the terms or conditions that the 3 day pass is subject to the approval or discretion of the manager or that it might not get approved for the full 3 days. I did not ask why (nor did Larry offer an explanation) because I really do not care what the explanation is; to me it was just bad customer service and it potentially cost LA Fitness a membership. And if I were to reconsider, I would probably not go back to that location. read more

Decent gym. It's only a few blocks from my house so location is convenient. Finding parking is a hassle and wastes time. There is also a lot of traffic at the crosswalk so be careful when crossing as many cars do not stop for pedestrians. I also feel annoyed when it is crowded on certain days like Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Fridays and Saturdays seem like the best days to go. In terms of the crowd, a lot of the guys there are a bit arrogant so at times, it feels they look down upon people who are not as fit as them. A bit of a high school ish vibe I would say. So I do miss the no judgement zone at Planet Fitness which I used to go to, but this gym is closer to home. However, it is nice there is access to the pool, sauna, classes, and more machines/weights compared to nearby gyms. My last complaint is that many people are not hygienic compared to Planet Fitness so they often forgot to clean the machines after using them. I am not sure if it's because people are lazy to clean after themselves or there are not enough towels on dispensers. I will continue with membership but I recommend to go to other LA Fitness clubs such as the Loop location and one on Pershing, which I have found to be better ones. read more
