My friend is a member, and we called ahead to ask about guest passes. The representative told us to come in at 9:00 AM. We arrived early at 8:50 AM, and my friend sent us the VIP guest pass link. I completed everything, signed the waiver online, received a QR code, and went to the front desk to scan it. At that point, we were stopped by two employees who said we still needed to speak with a representative to sign another waiver and take a photo. I explained that I had already completed the waiver online, but was told we had to do another one in person. When I asked when a representative would be available, I was told not until 10:00 AM. So let me get this straight -- we were specifically told to come at 9:00 AM, completed the online process exactly as instructed, and still couldn't access the gym because no representative was available for another hour? This was a complete waste of time and incredibly poor customer service. The process is confusing, poorly communicated, and the staff gave inconsistent information. First impressions matter, and unfortunately this experience guaranteed I won't be coming back. read more

Been going to this LA fitness for many years so ive experienced the decline of this location throughout. This was especially apparent when they made the switch to eSporta back several years ago, which is just a lower cost branding of LA fitness. They eventually reverted this branding back to LA fitness but the effects of these transitions remained - with a lower cost model of 10$ a month, the gym was more packed than ever before, leading to a dirtier and messier environment to which staff just couldnt keep up and probably stopped caring at some point As someone who primarily weight lifts, the state of the facility and staff feels like it retained those same conditions to this day. Dumbbells are still all over the place and hard to find, barbells are missing, 2.5 pounders are more scarce than ever, the same stairmaster machine has been under maintenance for forever, there is a lack of attachments and theyre old and also hard to find, the list goes on There are 4 flat benches, 2 incline and 1 decline. 3 squat racks and 6 adjustable benches. With these numbers and such a large number of patrons, youre always gonna be waiting for equipment with especially long wait times at peak hours after work. I would suggest going after 8pm when things are more calm While I recognize that you get what you pay for and shouldnt have higher expectations for public commercial gyms, ive gone to other la fitness locations in the city where i have had comparatively better quality experiences for my workouts, and while its not always sunshines and rainbows either, the Pershing location sits lower on the scale for me PS: the court inside is permanently volleyball, no basketball at this location! read more

No one here deserves to be making over minimum wage. In fact they should lower the minimum wage just for the people here. A few things: [1] The hours here are bad. Whoever runs this place is a cheapskate trying to save money at the expense of patrons (more on this later). [2] The locker room smells awful. The insides of the lockers smell awful. Go to a nicer gym and tell me the locker room smells as bad. You already know the that it won't. I doubt that the insides of the lockers have ever been cleaned. [3] They absolutely do not clean everything here. You can see stuff spilled/left in the cup holders on the treadmills and it'll be there for days. [4] More about being cheapskates: the hand sanitizer (when there's actually any in there) is watered down but yeah sometimes it'll be like a week and there won't be any in there. [5] They have the temperature set to like 75F which might be a good temperature if you're sitting at home (still too hot for many) but it's unreasonable to have it set to that in the gym. It will be say 72F outside and feel hotter in the gym. A few guesses as to why: (A) To save money, as we've already established the people who run this are the type who'd pick up pennies in front of a steamroller (B) To encourage clientele to cycle in and out faster (C) Because the people who work there are sitting by the door, hardly moving and have a inaccurate perception of what it's actually like to work out in that temperature. [6] Everyone who works here is incredibly lazy. Also make sure to sign up through something like Active & Fit because at least some of the people who work here will lie to your face about their cancellation policy. Corporate is aware but doesn't care because they can maintain plausible deniability. And corporate is being sued by the FTC over cancellation policy practices so keep that in mind. And don't touch anything here else you risk getting MRSA. Anyway, good luck getting in touch with corporate. They absolutely don't care. The only reason to go here is proximity. I will say that the people who work here are genuinely nice in my experience. PS - On google reviews, you can be certain that anyone leaving a 5 star review either has an IQ below 90 or was somehow pushed to do so by the company. read more

I think this particular site and several others in the area under serve their communities. They took the basketball courts down because they were shooting, this I understand. I was actually there. It's clean and got it's own parking lot. The hot tub is kind of smaller than a few other locations. I'm not sure how much I like the cardio stuff on the upstairs and the strength training on the bottom floor. It was nice to have some cardio machines facing a wall where I don't have to look at anyone at all and be in the zone. I wish there were more mats to stretch on. I walked up after a girl who went to the mat and she bascially went sideways on it and took up 3/4ths of it. I don't go out of my way to go here. I used to go to the Signature Club in Hyde Park, and I can tell you that this location has way more things including: -Wifi -Parking Lot -Basketball court -More light weights -Kettlebells for non-personal training use -Larger matted areas for stretching They do not have towels, though. The cons are that it's not really clean, the bathrooms and sauna room are not well kept, and generally there is poor gym etiquette. People don't re-rack their weights and leave stuff all over the place. Also, people like to use the aerobics room and cycling room in the dark? Which is really odd. I turn the lights on, but they only stay on for 15 minutes at a time. REALLY weird. People also listen to their music out loud. Doesn't bother me since I have my headphones on full blast, but it might bother other people. I go at 5 AM, and it's typically open right at 5. It does get busy that early, so I can only imagine how packed it is in the afternoon. read more

The only reason this place gets a one because Zero is not available. This location has to be the if not one of the worse, from the facility cleanness to the customer service from every employee. Today I literally have experienced everything bad from this club, EVERYTHING in today's visit only. Walked to no greet, bathroom smells disgusting, locker room dirty. As I am working out, there are at least 2 groups of people on the floor with loud music on speakers, which I have complained about and the "management" looked at me like I was crazy for saying anything about it. They hate being bothered with any issues. The only reason I come here is because is close to the home otherwise, I would definitely go else where. At this location a seems like I you are not friends with people at the customer service area, expect no service or low quality attention. I like the gym. Nice, spacious, equipment for the most part is pretty well maintained. HOWEVER, since I became a member this past April the vending machine has been "scheduled for service". THAT WAS 5 MONTHS AGO!!!! I mean, is it very expensive to get it fixed?? Is anyone available to ACTUALLY fix the machine??? Is it cost effective to buy a new one?? That seems to be my only gripe about the gym. Overall it's a great place to workout, the staff is pretty friendly and the place is spacious. Also, the cleaning staff does an awesome job in maintaining the place clean so many kudos to them since there seems to be alot of nasty people who don't know how to keep themselves, or the equipment, clean for others. For a brand new facility, this place is rather disappointing. I go for the pool and the hot tub, so I can't comment on the machines. The women's locker room is absolutely disgusting! I came two days in a row and both times the showers were full of huge chunks of hair and wads and wads of wet paper towels. Are people using them as towels?? Or are they just not cleaning? I assume not cleaning because the floors look like they haven't been swept or mopped in days. I'm really afraid of what this place is going to look like after the "new" wears off. The staff is also rather disappointing. When I asked how to use the mini lockers, the girl at the desk didn't know and had to ask someone in the sales area, who angrily brushed her off and told her the keys were "in the desk" After she searched fruitlessly the guy finally came and found them in a different drawer...only for us to realize we didn't need a key, the instructions were on the side of the lockers. On my second visit, when I mentioned the state of the locker room, I was told "well, people do disgusting things" and that the locker rooms are cleaned every day. It REALLY doesn't seem like it. The hot tub is more of a warm tub with wimpy jets that blow cool water for some reason. I'm highly disappointed in this location. Glad I have a nice facility near work in Oakbrook, but I really signed up for this location because it's so close to home. Parking is rather limited too. If I continue to come back, I'll be bringing pool shoes and maybe a bottle of disinfectant, lord knows they probably don't use it here! read more

I come to this gym because it's close to my house. I came on a Friday when the gym is supposed to close at 10pm. I get there around 9pm and the doors are locked while people are still working out. I eventually was able to get in and was told that they lock the doors about an hour before closing so they can get started cleaning the machines. It's ridiculous that you lock people out 1 hour prior to closing. If you say you close at 10pm, then close at 10pm. Buyer beware. read more

I now know why LA Fitness has cleverly crafted infomercials that tout it's instructors as "qualified" instead of certified. This location has some of the worst Spin instructors I have ever encountered. I took a class in which the instructor never said a word. For the first 10 minutes I thought it was part of the plan to say good morning after the warm up. It became even more awkward when I realized this was not a class for the participants instead was the "qualified" instructor's personal morning workout, we just happen to be in the room too. She was terrible. On another occasion, the spin instructor had music that was too loud for either enjoyment or motivation. He even cranked it up louder when it was at his favorite frame. On first impressions...looks impressive. However when I got inside the women's shower area...Hazmat should be called it. I kid you not. I swam here. Water was very dirty and cloudy. Every time I go to the gym I always greet the person in the front desk " hello" or " hi, how's it going!?" . The person in the front desk is typically females. They never have greeted me & are always talking to their co- worker, while I greet them which is rude. LA fitness got to teach these ladies how to greet, I'm sure it's under their job description. Machines and weights are good but considering how all the weights aren't picked up and everything is always misplaced it's hard to work out. Front desk staff don't really care for there jobs, there is an exception to some of them but for the most part they just sit there and check people in. The sales staff don't care about the customer as much as a customer would want which is a con, again there are exceptions to some of the sales staff. Main reason this gym gets low stars is because of their manager. He is completely rude and should really be replaced with someone who actually knows how to be a manger and run a business. Never had any issues. The gym has all the basics. Though some have spoken on the cleanliness of the locker rooms. I have not noticed this to the degree in which they speak. I have on a variety of occasions seen their custodian cleaning the locker room and other areas of the gym, so maybe this is an improvement made recently. Overall love the gym, gave it 4 stars, because I people do not re-rack weights and I have to constantly search the gym to find what I'm looking for as many of the dumbbells / free weights are out of place in the rack or not there at all. This is an overall review of how LA Fitness operates. According to the front desk I would need to speak to an Operations Manager in person between 9am-5pm Mon-Fri for cancellation or upgrades, so almost impossible for a person with a 9-5 job. I wanted an upgrade to add guest privileges at the time. To cancel on my own I needed to mail in a cancellation form that would take a minimum of two weeks. In an era where online applications is common practice, this is considered absurd. Also, to downgrade from multiclub to single club it costs $150. It sounds like the organization is built to make it a pain to leave the club and capture every penny when you walk in. Why does it need to be so complicated? The one star is for good equipment. Sign up if you want a cheap club where you won't mind keeping your head down about their operational practices. read more

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. Talk about rudimentary! They don't even provide towels to clean the machines! Very basic equipment. At the very least most things seemed relatively new... but that won't last long. COMPLETELY UNDERSTAFFED! The weights on both racks and dumbbells were in a complete disarray. If they can't even keep those relatively neat, who knows when any of the machines get wiped down! This place honestly isn't as bad as some of the other reviews make it out to be, I've gone here for a few months now and I can honestly say it's a solid gym. I definitely do give LA Fitness the edge over its competitors. Now if I was rating it based on my experience I would definitely give this place a 5 stars, but I understand there's a few gripes that other people might have about this place. The men's locker room is kept nice. They do clean regularly, I go mornings and nights and always see one of the workers cleaning. One of the reviews I read about here was addressing the security risks of putting your personal items, but that's not LA Fitness' issue. They have a caution sign telling you to not do it, and they have small lockers you can rent just for that. So they definitely do address that issue. As far as machines go, I've never ran into one that smells or is dirty. They provide you with towels and hand sanitizer to clean them before you use them and after you use them so no complains there. Although, I have run into 3 machines not working in the course of the 4 months I've gone to this gym. That ratio is honestly not bad, even more of a plus considering I go Mon-Fri. Now for my favorite part of this place is the pool. I definitely do enjoy it and can say that the pool, sauna, and the jacuzzi is what stands LA Fitness out between its competitors in this area. Now of course the sauna and jacuzzi is almost always usually packed but it empties out at night and there's usually not too much people in during the mornings which for me this fits my schedule perfectly. As far as staff goes there honestly isn't much to say for my experience. The only interactions I get with them are when I walk in and walk out, which they do greet me every time so no complaints here. This place is solid, and I have enjoyed my time here. I've been going to this gym for about 2-3 years now. $35/mo for one person. They have a special in the beginning of DEC/JAN to add another for $15 (they usually charge an extra ~$35 for another user). Don't join when you have to pay $100 for joiners fee. Please just wait for a special!! I think I paid only $25 joiners fee, maybe $35. Gym wise, the weights are usually out of place especially during peak hours (late afternoon and evening times). Treadmills are very busy during 7pm on Mon-Fri. This can get annoying but in the mornings the weights are in somewhat decent order. However, I appreciate the size of the gym. I think it's a good medium-large size. Cleanliness: every time I go to the gym, I always see the cleaning personnel making their rounds. For people who complain the gym is not clean, take initiative and clean after yourself and if you see a paper on the floor, pick it up. Treat it like you would treat your home and you'll start seeing some change. I've never complained about how clean this place is. It's okay, could be better, but it's not bad. No cloth provided to clean machines. There are sanitation stations with paper towels. I would prefer cloth to eliminate wasting paper towels. Hours: Mon-Fri close at 11pm. Sat and Sun close by 8pm. I wish they would extend weekend hours. Sauna is a small sized room compared to rest of the gym. I think it should be bigger. Sometimes busy pending if you go during peak hours. I love how hot it is! Other gyms aren't are hot. If you ever want to cancel your membership, you just do it on a Mon-Fri during regular ~9-4pm hours. They can freeze your account if you will be out on vacation for a couple months or on military duty. Staff: I never really encountered rude staff. I mainly just check-in and go about my workout. They do try to pressure you into a free fitness assessment in the beginning of joining. I don't suggest doing it but whatever you want. It leads into convincing you to do personal training. Personal training: not sure how to feel about it. (~$600 for 6 mo for 1 hour individual session 4xs/mo. Other prices if you do 30min sessions and group sessions). I wouldn't trust all personal trainers hired here. I think to be a personal trainer you need to have the body and the knowledge. I would only trust the current master trainer, I think his name is Ernesto or Evaristo. Just make sure your trainer has the body to show what he/she preaches. People who go here: you really have all types. Older people are usually in the sauna, bicycles, or pool. There's majority Latino with some Asian and Black. Some of the younger adults and meatheads are in the weight areas. I don't feel like I'm stared at too much by people around me to make me feel super uncomfortable when working out. There's a couple of women who lift weights and that's nice as a female myself to not feel so intimidated. Pool/hot tub: usually busy during peak hours. Starts to clear up in the morning/early afternoon and later at night (~8:30pm). I usually see many of the older folks are here (~50 and up), but not limited to them. I haven't gone inside myself so I can't attest to the cleanliness of the water and so forth. Why am I here? I used to go to Planet Fitness but they didn't offer a sauna and pool. I went to check out LA Fitness since it's so close to my family's restaurant. The facility looks like what a regular gym rat like me would ask for. The studio classes seem well lit. The equipments are current and in brand new condition. The spacious two floors can hold treadmills, a swimming pool and a daycare center! Best of all, Phil the general manager, is very attentive and patient with my many questions and comments. This is the 2nd LA fitness center I have been to. It just opened 3 months ago and became crap already. No one cleans the machines and the locker room is dirty. The staff are very unprofessional and the trainers doesn't put their focus on you. I have seen the manager and he is the rudest manager I have seen. So i go to lifetime fitness in Bloomingdale and because of the weather i was working from home one day. I show up to the closest la fitness near me at 6am ready to pay the $15 fee for the day pass. The gym is not worth that much lol they don't even have towels to distribute. The front desk clerk waits until after i pay to tell me they don't have towels, what if i was legitimately trying to become a member and had work after? Very basic gym, just go to a different la fitness (a signature one?) or choose a cheaper gym. There aren't enough perks here to be paying more than $10 bucks a month. This gym looks like it has the basics, which is all you might need, which is why you should just go to charter fitness for ten bucks a month (assuming this la fitness charges 20-30 bucks a month, if it's 10$ this LA isn't bad). I only came here for the sauna, i wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have one. Garbage gym, won't be returning. read more

Horrible experience! Dolce approached my boyfriend and I today and accused him of training me because we were keeping notes of our workout. When we tried to explain to her that we're a couple and just keeping track of our progress, she just continued to argue with us. She was very rude and unprofessional. Instead of going around accusing people and standing around talking to her boyfriend, she should make it a priority to do her job and clean up the gym. This location is always a complete mess and the employees here don't care. I didn't pay $600 to be treated like this. All the employees at this location need to be retrained in customer service! Have been a member at this location for a few months now, it's pretty equipped however it tends to get packed quickly in the evening. Some of the staff members are nice and helpful but the management needs major improvement big time! Don't get fooled by some of these faces, there are managers at this location that don't act so professional and respectful not sure how or why they are still employed. For the price, it's not too bad. It has a lot of machines, weights, cardio, etc. so the reason for the 3 stars is that the employees suck and they act like they're bunch of superstars. Chill out. The manager there walks around like he's special forces. The greeters don't greet you at all so I just ignore them. Employees seem so stuck up. The bathrooms are so dirty and seems like its never clean. There is literally some nasty stains all over the bathroom that seems like it never gets cleaned. I cancelled my planet fitness membership because we wanted more amenities, but at least pf always had paper towels and cleaning solution available to wipe the machines with. This gym location always runs out of paper towels and are not replaced consistently. The biggest issue that I have is that they don't have wi-fi and their network reception is terrible. I can only enjoy a workout when I am in a spot that connects me to the internet. These seem like basic needs for a gym member to have and makes me consider canceling my membership and go back to PF bc at least they had free wi-fi and paper towels and sanitizer to clean the machines with. read more

I Sign up two months ago with Izzy the GM. He was amazing and very helpful answering all my questions, showing me the facility, and providing me with different gym membership options. I wanted to wait two months before posting a review because I also wanted to see how my daily experience will be there. Let me say staff is very friendly and there is always janitorial cleaning up and keeping the place very clean. As a person who really enjoys working out I like to find a place that has solid equipment, that is clean and that has a solid reputation. This location aesthetically is very nice but some of the people who utilize the pool and hot tub are not the most hygienic minded people. On several occasions I have found Band-Aids floating in the pool, lots of loose hair floating around, individuals swimming in their underwear or work out gear Without showering. As far as the clarity of the water it's hit Or miss. I have informed the front desk about this but they may not have enough staff to monitor the pool area as it continues to happen. I find it really gross that someone will jump into the pool without bathing and stewing all day in their undergarments only to jump into the pool or hot tub where others are working out. The remainder of the facility is well taken care of but I would stay away from the pool or hot tub if you don't want to risk disease. read more

Recently had my health assessment done by Jesus, one the trainers, and told him about shoulder pain I was having due to suspected injury. He was concerned enough to run me through a modest circuit of exercises, targeting the muscles around my shoulder, to aid in my recovery. I'd recommend him if seeking a trainer. He's a young trainer, but definitely on the rise. As far as the facilities, they're certainly not the most organized or pristine. Of course, that's partly due to the inconsiderate patrons. Put the f**cking weights back where you got them from, people!! But since I'm usually in and out (no showering, etc.), I tolerate it. read more
