Then she threatened to ban me. I had to complain to corporate. I'm sure she will continue to retaliate and probably ban me since that's the kind of studio owner she seems to be. Oh well. Unlike most studios, she actually went around to correct form (without putting people on blast) and instructions/transitions were crystal clear. Playlist was pretty good too! SERVICE: WOW! Upon leaving the owner was talking to a disgruntled client and I over heard ( she was a nurse who's been working this whole time and no symptoms so she hasn't gotten tested , Denise was very apologetic but said she would not be able to take a class seeing as how she's been exposed to covid at work ). The staff are all SO wonderful! When I initially signed up it was hectic chaos surrounding us, but the admin at the desk was the most patient, informative, sweetest soul. They all are! You can tell employees genuinely enjoy one another here and are passionate about their community. This gym might be older but overall has everything you need, plus it's clean and they make all necessary updates. A friend had convinced me to try out a class here with her and see what I thought. I have high anxiety in gyms where I feel extremely inadequate and as though I can't keep up with those around me. This gym however made being the new girl easy. The members and coaches here are so warm and welcoming and they all truly care about each other. There are members of all ages and abilities that are so supportive of their fellow members, cheering them on and motivating them every day. The coaches take the time to get to know their members on a personal level to learn how to best motivate you and help you succeed. Whether you are looking for competitions or just a more casual way to stay in shape, this gym is perfect. The coaches are well educated and make sure members are working out safely and to their full potential. They are also great resources when it comes to proper nutrition and stress the importance of good nutrition. Keith and Beth, the owners, have such kind hearts and go out of their way to help and support their members beyond the gym. The term family easily comes to mind when thinking about DHCF. Having been here just under a year I have definitely seen more personal results than I ever have at those gyms that are more concerned with stuffing your face full of pizza and bagels. It happened to be a bring a friend day. So I turned around and stopped in. I was met by 3 awesome staff members, Kelly, Nikki and Dave. They all made me feel very comfortable and welcomed. I purchased 3 introductory classes and immediately fell in love with this place. I saw people from all ages and exercise levels. I signed up for a membership. Within one month I was doing exercises that I had never done before. Most of them I thought I couldn't do. But the trained staff showed me, patiently, how to do it and let me do it at my level. In one month I have been able to run, which I couldn't do, and my blood sugar dropped 100 points. The bonus is that I lost 14 lbs as well. It doesn't matter what your fitness level is. If you count the rests in between you're lucky if you get a good 15 minute workout in. Now I perfectly understand that this is a special; however the point of specials is to get people so fired up for your gym that you'll sign up whatever the costs. Nope not the case here and I for one was very very disappointed. This is my third time doing CROSSFIT and this one for sure was my worst experience. Gave them two stars because the actual members looked like they were having a good workout. In the mean time the last time I went, I was like you can keep the money. Thanks for not investing in your newcomers, and basically robbing me of almost $200.00. Recommendation? Don't sign up for their specials!

One of the lifeguards constantly crossed personal boundaries and eventually called me an alcoholic because I did not accept his unsolicited medical advice. The aquatics director and CEO made me stand in his office despite me telling the CEO that I cannot stand or sit for an extended period due to chronic pain and my disability, and while making me stand and listen to him repeat everything he said over email, they both basically took the side of the lifeguard, suggesting without asking the offensive party that the lifeguard was "joking" and I was more or less holding a grudge. They even suggested that the Bayside pool wasn't the right pool for me because I was offended by being called an alcoholic by this lifeguard. They never asked the lifeguard to apologize to me after I requested an apology. I do not feel respected at this YMCA branch. Another issue is the staff don't tell you that there's an additional annual fee on top of the regular monthly fee and joiner's fee until after you've joined. I reached out to the same CEO and membership director about this issue, and have been met with silence for over a month. But when they didn't like that I complained about a lifeguard slandering me and his continued foul mannerisms towards me, the CEO wouldn't leave me alone constantly emailing me and demanding I go into his office when I asked for a phone call to accommodate my disability to address the issue.

Their family membership is an excellent value when you take into consideration the complementary child care. Their pool and locker facilities were recently renovated and are very nice. The YMCA offers a wide variety of classes, and although the selection might not be as robust as other facilities, I have enjoyed them. The cardio/weights room, where I spend a lot of time has been updated with brand new equipment and is well managed - there are typically available cardio machines in the busy morning hours. This Y is also located next to the East Bay Bike Path - so one can easily bike here, and go out running during or after a visit. Bottom line a good value, a good facility for the area.
