On a normal day, I would give five stars but the last couple of days have been horrible. STAY AWAY JUNE, JULY Apparently they have students summer pass who get to PLAY at the gym for free while members that have to pay have to wait 17 minutes for a machine while the students walk around socialize they're on their phone. Club closes at 10pm. I walked in at 9:15pm wanted 9 minutes to tan. And maximum allowed in hydro bed. I was told "sorry we don't do that this late, guys already cleaning them" so 45 minutes before close time. I wasn't able to access anything except the gym. Why do I pay a premium? I wasted my fuel in my car on my time hurting needing the massage equipment I pay for every month. To be turned away 45 minutes before closing! I have 3 compressed vertabre. Pay monthly! I get turned away by the bald guy at the counter to close to closeing?! 45 minutes? I should be able to do anything I pay for up until the 10pm close of the facility! I want reimbursement. Haven't been back for a while. I check the radar meter to see how busy it was. Sorry to say it was very misleading. 2 bars. But when I showed up it was so full! Good thing the cardio machines always reset in the middle of my workout and staff is rude because, and I don't know about anyone else, but I go to the gym to be frustrated and disappointed. I have communicated my frustrations with management and staff several times over the few years I've been paying to use this gym. They have responded by saying they would take note of the issues. Apparently, all they are capable of doing is writing down complaints. Solving them has never been a priority. I'm especially concerned with the lack of interest the staff has with anything other than their cell phones. I could be on fire and no one would notice unless, simultaneously, it was being live-streamed by another member on a social media platform. read more

I joined this gym a couple of weeks ago and reserved my opinion until I had been a few weeks. I find the employees extremely pleasant and friendly. The atmosphere is pretty much you do your thing without any judgement just like they advertise. I was disappointed that the column does not work on any treadmill I tried. After trying 3 different ones, I asked an employee for help. After trying 10 minutes on multiple treadmills, he just said sorry I guess it doesn't work. I will try again with another employee tonight. The bathrooms are clean. The equipment seems well maintained except for TV sound. There is always an employee cleaning something. It is open 24 hours, although, I have never attended after 19:00 pm. Even when it appears busy, I have never had a problem getting on the equipment I needed. Very very Clean if you want to sign up ask for Al. he's A Great person one thing I love about planet fitness is NOBODY judges you ! And I think that's what people want . No one wants to walk into my a Gym and feel uncomfortable . I know I don't . So please go to planet fitness in Johnston and enjoy a wonderful workout or a tan . Went to Planet Fitness today. The gym is keep exceptionally clean. The equipment is also maintained even though it's not new, but you would never know it. The people who work there are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this location. I try to work out 2 or 3 times a week. My goal is to extend my life. read more

It was my first time coming here the other day with my best friend even though we have 2 other PF's close to us she comes here because she said it's really clean, she likes the equipment and the tanning bed bulbs are super strong. I myself was extremely impressed as well! Everything is super clean and people actually follow the rules and wipe down the equipment! The staff is super nice & the tanning bed bulbs are strong and brand new. So now we've started coming here together and I really like this location as well. It's not as crowded and everything seems just about brand new! And the tanning area is awesome! I will def be coming here for a minimum of 3x a week with my friend in the mornings from here on out! read more

IMO when anyone walks into a gym, they should be greeted by the staff. Same goes to leaving after your workout. The staff here appears to just ignore you. The so called trainer won't even look at you and when he does, he just turns his head and ignores you. This fool need to work on his people skills because he has none. The most important part of joining a gym is not the equipment but the staff. How they treat you and how they interact with you. I feel the staff here failed in that aspect. read more

I went to my local gym this am to workout and to upgrade my membership to the black card. Unfortunately, due to the weather, they had lost power and were not open. I went home and tried a few times to upgrade online but was not able to. My daughter, Melissa Squillante, is a manager in Cranston. I told her the problem I was having. Within less than two minutes, she was able to upgrade my membership and I can now use all gyms, even those closer to my office. This review is being written from the perspective from an avid gym goer who was motivated too lose weight. I entered this gym too open arms and a friendly atmosphere when I was heavier and needed too lose weight. I enjoyed going here and feeling welcome but once I lost a bunch of weight and starting looking better the staff lost all interest. I understand that natural human emotions like jealousy and competition are a big thing. I honestly have never been too a place where the change in attitude was so easily apparent and disregarded by all the staff. The woman in charge malissa or whatever her name is...is a 2 faced terrible person that in the end only cares about herself. They say you can't fix stupid is all I'll say. They will not buy any new equipment for the time I attended and just let me let u know it was a long period of more than a year. Do yourself a huge favor and just go too a different gym. Unless your a mindless zombie human who doesn't want help losing weight and knows everything then by all means go here. I will give credit where it is due and the only nice person who stayed nice too me when I went there was jyel the physical trainer at the time. End of rant. Gym is clean and has all the equipment you need for a good workout. I do wish that they offered some kind of work out class.

Workers just sit on their phones, ignore everyone and give dirty looks when you walk in. Manager is no better, she talks with her employees and makes fun of the costumers.. so much for a no judgement zone huh ‍ read more

This review is coming from a person whos done with there weight loss journey and worked very hard, I lost 85 pounds in total. This place has some of the most hypocrital terrible staff ive ever encountered in a gym. They will turn on you if your a serious weight lifter. When I started at this gym I was very overweight and the staff was friendly and very supportive of me. I lost the weight and became a bodybuilder thanks to this gym and other intense training workouts,hard work, and sacrifice. Now they judge me secretly and think the trainer doesn't tell me who was a good friend of mine. I get to lose a bunch of friends now because i felt ostracized everyday I walked in this place once I lost the weight. The planet fitness franchise is full of hypocrites who will turn on you once you don't fit there narrative. If you wanna be a serious weight lifter or wanna lose weight by other means than just living on a treadmill or machine, save yourself the trouble and go too a new/ different gym. The idea of calling any place judgement free literally means judgement is gonna happen, maybe just not be as obvious. The front desk needs like a wall so the people who sit at the desks at these stupid gyms cant just awkwardly stare, laugh, and just people who are actively working out. Go to the edge or somewhere else and save your aggravation/time/ money. The equipment is all very dated and close together anyways. They haven't bought a single piece of new equipment in the year I've been there at least. The dumbells only go up to 75 as well and they have no free weight bars, only stupid smith machines. read more
