I stopped by this Planet Fitness because it was near another event that I had to attend. So, I figured why not fit in a workout since I had a couple of hours to kill in Ft. Meade. While this Planet Fitness is a bit smaller than some of the other Planet Fitnesses that I have visited in Maryland, it has everything that one would need. Then again, I only used the treadmill and stretching area during my visit. So, in a way, this location did have everything that I needed. ;) I thought the gym was pretty clean and had a nice layout. Unlike many Planet Fitnesses in my area, the locker room was pretty well-maintained, but I wish that it was not so dark. But, you cannot win them all. Unfortunately, this Planet Fitness does not provide soap for the showers, so I'm glad that I brought my own. All in all, I have no problem returning to this Planet Fitness for my Ft. This gym is always busy. Dont understand why they don't open 24/7 like the Columbia location. Their Total Body Machine Booth always malfunction & they only have one. Their Hydro massage beds always break down too. Which is annoying when you're a Black Card holder and you can't even use all their features. The gym always smell like stinky old rubber and wet socks smell. They really need to put in a hot stone sauna here. read more

honestly this is the worst planet fitness i've ever been to. i think the only pro i have here is the staff from what ive met. staff are nice but everything else is just not what you expect. when walking i i would never guess it was a planet fitness. they place looks more like you small body building gym. lots of groups of people (6+ at a time) working out, chatting, and giving odd stares to people who are new to the area. there is very limited equipment in here! and with your groups, your luck to get a 5lb dumbbell to yourself in a corner. locker rooms extend on the feeling of a small body building gym as it's just super weird in there. been twice to this planet fitness and only out of desperation i'd come back even though it's 3 minutes from my house. i'd drive 20 minutes to columbia or pasadena for my workout than to come here. read more

Our gym. Many people just tolerate PF because it's the cheapest option- but yes while that is true, I also rather like this spot. The staff are super welcoming & friendly; younger kids who are seem to be friends with each other & enjoy their jobs, it's always funny to overhear some of their banter when arriving/leaving because they give off such a positive ambiance. Easy parking, quick sign-in. The equipment gets cleaned & maintenanced regularly-spacious-even when crowded there are ample machines/options- can't complain. Always enjoy visiting. read more

It's $10 a month. This one is cleaner than most, the staff is friendly and engaged. I've been going since we got back from Illinois in 2020. Our branch out there closed right before Covid and later became some independent place that didn't quite hold up. This location has quite a few Fort Meade associated folks (like me), veterans and spouses. I almost always see at least one familiar face or someone I served with. Every now and then a machine or two will be out of order but they seem to get things back up pretty quickly. I also think they do a good job of rotating out staff that don't fit in or do the work. For a little while over the summer there was an Instagram "wannabe"...she did nothing, nothing- just her phone. I tend to go in the morning before work (0530-ish), there are always the same 20-25 folks, so never an issue getting a machine or free weights. It's $10 a month. read more

I like I like! Spacious, empty after work (4 - 6pm on a Tuesday for me) Friendly staff. I love the sanitizing stations, perfectly stocked and neat. Parking was limited, this PF is in a shopping center, next to a Big Lots. I drove around for a while before finding someone coming out of Big Lots to park. This location is in between my work and homes but not closer enough for me to frequent. I stopped on this day in particular because traffic was horrible and I was restless. This location is always packed. You gotta get up extra early comes in at grave yard shift for the gym to be less crowded to use equipment. On top of that it's impossible to find a staff to assist you at front desk, they always seems to disappeared. Even with radio, still can't find no one in site. Nice and clean plant fitness location. Large parking lot so there are always some spaces open. Everything is clean and the staff is polite.

I love it here. For the most part it's quiet, everyone minds their own business. However, the crowd meter is not accurate or this PF doesn't care if people scan their QR codes because the meter would reflect very low crowd and when I walk in, it's jam packed. I end up walking right back out because 1. Waiting for a smith or certain equipment can take some time, 2. It's sweaty and hot from all the bodies. Can we please go back to making sure all members are scanning in? I can then determine what would be a busy hour. The PF in GB stayed pretty dead at all hours but it's a drive going there now. :/ read more

So glad Planet Fitness of Ft. Meade was able to open back up! I feel very safe with the new protocols and social distancing of the machines. Even though masks are required, even on cardio machines where it's harder to breathe, totally worth it in order to keep the gym open! read more

The staff at this Planet Fitness are wonderful! Before COVID I was going 2-3 times a week and had a great experience! There was always an available treadmill and adequate weights when I did floor work. I felt that it was clean and the other people working out were respectful and cleaned their equipment when they were done. Because of COVID and having a new baby at home, my husband and I decided to cancel our membership for now and even that was a quick and easy experience. Ok here's the details. I really like this place. It's close, it's clean, and it's open 24hrs. There's always a few attendants there that are very attentive to customers. They also have a schedule of trainers that hold classes in different areas of the gym. There's a 360 area that has a lot of space around it but seems like it's most for body weight training. Lots of kettlebells, bands, and weighted balls in this area in addition to the jungle gym equipment for lack of better words. Please refer to my Picture of the 360 area. Additional to this there is a circuit area with a big red and green traffic light to move you along the circuit machines. There's about 4 smiths machines. And some weight machines. Also a small area of free weights and a humongous choice of cardio and assisted weight machines. All this for a nominal fee of $10 a month per person and a yearly affordable gym fee per person. There's is also massage chairs, tanning beds, hydro massage, and the total body enhancement machine with vibration and red lights for skin enhancement and toning which all comes with the black card membership for 21.99 a month and yearly maintenance fee per person. I would love to see so power plate machines and some more free weights in the 360 area where I could do my calisthenics and my own routine with weights (dumbbells, barbells) without traipsing back and forth to the front of the gym where your only free weights are to get what I need. Other than the poor set up of free weights or lack there of free weights near the area with mats I really like this gym. Enough to pay for when most people that live on fort Meade military base have free access to multiple gyms on base year round. read more

They have pretty much all the equipment you'd need for most workouts. My biggest pet peeve are the paper towels, I'd rather have gym wipes. Also, parking can be a challenge. read more

I put my keys in a front locker and put a lock on same. Some unbridled genius had placed their keys in the same locker previously but failed to place a lock on it. Said genius, panicking, had my lock cut by someone on the highly competent staff, who absolutely could have called out to the floor to see who had the lock before just destroying it, but I'm sure it was just a teensy lapse in judgment when nobody did. The staffers all dutifully covered for each other, blamed ME for not combing through the locker (which appeared empty...which is why I used it) and, of course, not one of them knew who the unbridled genius is who didn't have their own lock, even though they'd cut mine. My guess is that they know and are covering for that member as well. One fellow on staff gave me a lower-quality lock he wasn't using, which will do until my property is replaced. I'd probably avoid the place, or if you have to go, keep all your stuff close. read more

One day after runnning, I realized that I need to incorporate a little core workout. In addition, it was getting too cold to run outside. Needless to say, I decided to get back into the gym. Well, I was a member of another gym, but I was becoming "less fond" of it. I looked at the reviews and decided to take a look. I was greeted by a very friendly staff. Then, a gentleman gave me a tour of the facilities. The place was huge and spaciaous,and the locker room was very clean. I also noticed that there is a circuit section in the back which I am excited to try one day. There are numorous machines that works every muslce group. I also noticed that the gym has a policy on throwing weights and grunting loudly. There wasn't any "muscle heads" in the building. The young man who gave me the tour told me about the various plans, but he wasnt pushy which I loved. On my next visit, I did a training session with Mitch. He was uber nice, and I am still training with him. I like the fact that training sessions are free, and it comes with the standard membership. Now for the bad--- I am a young lady who wears her hair natural. Not a big deal, but tying my hair down while working out is a must for me. Well, there is a policy about hair wraps in the gym. I am not sure why this in place, but it is. If you do wear a head wrap, you must wear a hat. Well, that doesnt always work for me because I have different things going on with my hair (such as rollers). Anyway, I am learning to find new ways to style my hair without looking a hot mess the next day. Ladies, you have been warned! Other than the policy, it is a solid gym. I adore the fact that I am able to workout in a truly judgement free zone, and I have a person who is willing to help with training. I am walking distance from another gym, and I am willing to hop in my car and drive 6 miles to get to this place. If you are near Fort Meade, this place is great for your New Year's needs. read more

Great place for a no-frills workout. Looks like their anti-gym marketing scheme is working because it's a big place but people are always in there. I have the basic membership but I'm thinking of upgrading so I can take advantage of the tanning and the massage bed. I was a member of Lifetime for years but decided to go a different route because it is pricey, the classes were too packed, never found close parking and I was running into people I'd rather not see (lol). I may eventually go back to Lifetime but, at this point, Planet Fitness is perfect for my exercise needs. Wish they had the Stair Climber, though. read more

I really enjoy coming to this gym. The staff is so friendly and always make sure to welcome you and tell you good bye when you're leaving. While having to be careful not to intimidate anyone here is a great starter gym for someone who is wash bring to get into a serious routine but don't want to spend an arm and a leg. My membership will be up in september but I won't be renewing. Not because I don't like the place but because I need heavier series and more of a variety. I've been a member of other gyms: Golds, LA fitness and others but I don't think you can beat the price of planet fitness. But at the same time, you get what you pay for. There is no studio room, member classes, basketball court, sauna, pool etc. There's a personal trainer that does sessions for free all during the day and you can take advantage of this. This gym targets first time gym users and promotes a no judgement zone. So as a result, I think what is most irritating about my workout is the members. I'm not sure if they lack gym etiquette or just don't get what the functionality of certain equipment. There are people who have 4 sets of weights around them and when I ask to work in a quick set, they'll respond they're still using it. Others will use the benches to hold their weights. When I'm working out in front of a mirror, people will block my view. They'll stand in front of me talking to a buddy of theirs. Why can't you stand somewhere else and talk?! In addition, when I'm working mid way on a set - they don't wait for me to finish but instead try to squeeze through causing me to pause what I'm doing for me to dodge hitting them with a weight. I really wish they set up more mirrors - they could use some mirrors in the back. In addition, they don't have Olympic bars for you to use. So in the case that you're trying to increase your weights, you basically have to jump 10 lbs or 5lbs(for single arm) - which is difficult to build muscle. Although I do like that they have a "jungle gym" in the back area - battle roles, bands and limited kettle bells and medicine balls. They lack some functional things such as yoga balls, bosu ball, body bars, etc. But I'm sure you can still have a good workout. Otherwise, the employees are kind. They always greet you upon enter and exiting. The lockers are kept tidy. I've never taken a shower there so no comment about that. And there's free wifi and small gym lockers in the front that are visible to everyone. I know other gyms have issues with members stealing things from lockers rooms (literally cutting locks and taking people's belonging). I'll probably go back to LA fitness soon because they offer a larger variety of weight machines. But depending on your needs and goals - planet fitness could be right for you. read more

I've yet to see anyone working out in a wife beater with a gallon jug of water so that's a good sign... This particular facility is never crowded and the front desk staff is always pleasant. There is plenty of cardio equipment and enough free-weights and machines to satisfy anyone looking to get a solid workout. There are paper towels and spray to clean up after you use the equipment (or before if you're like me and just don't trust people...). There are no trainers to harass you, though that means no advice or exercise classes so look elsewhere if Zumba calls to you. read more

This is a great gym if you just need a quick work out and don't use the amenities. If you are looking forward to the tanning beds they haven't had new bulbs in forever and probably won't do anything for you. The massage chairs are well loved but work, and the water bed and body shaker have seen better days. This is normally a clean gym and the offer members lots of incentives to come back such as raffles regularly. I didn't love this gym because I felt I needed more help than they provide but if you know what your looking for it's great! read more

Not a bad place. Clean and mostly friendly staff and customers. Most people are accommodating. Only downside - I go in around 10 am weekdays and there are always a few people camping out on one or two machines in the circuit training (30 min workout) area using it as their personal workout space. They seem insulted when you indicate you would like to use the machines as directed. Signs are everywhere but they may need some reminding. read more

They should allow members to be able to go to the closest PF until the renovation are done. This gym has steadily gone downhill in the past 6-9 months. At first, everything was fine, it was clean and it helped me lose weight before I had surgery. Then they decided to "make improvements" to their locker rooms. They closed for 2 weeks which completely killed the momentum I had built up (the other PF's are very far away from my house and I was unwilling to drive to them during rush hour). Then they reopened but weren't done renovating. At one point, they made a baffling decision to temporarily swap the womens and mens locker rooms (I can think of no good reason this had to happen and honestly view the locker rooms with paranoia now). The mens locker room was GROSS...I at first thought that they had stopped cleaning due to the construction. I was wrong. Since we unswapped and the construction completed, the bathrooms here have NEVER been clean. In fact, cleaning as a whole seems to be intermittent. The staff seems to exist only to hang out at the front desk. I watch one day as a staff member spent 50 minutes leaning against the counter doing nothing despite the ladies room being filthy. Today, there were TWO women working who also didn't seem to leave (there was also an overflowing trash can on the gym floor in view of the counter that did not get emptied)...to their credit, the tootsie rolls got refilled (#priorities) while they were there. At one point a few weeks back, I even commented to the woman "hanging out" at the front desk that the bathrooms were disgusting, she smiled brightly and said "THANKS!" (how is that a compliment?). For $12 it gets the job done....but I refuse to use the "new" changing rooms after the weird swap and I always make sure I have gone to the rest room prior to arriving. read more
