There seems to be an ongoing issue with the gyms treadmills and stair steppers, Its been brought to the manager and district manager attention several times. 5-Star Review for Planet Fitness - Pembroke (Saturday, May 17, 6-6:30 PM) I want to give a sincere shoutout to the amazing staff working this evening, especially Zinnani. Even though it was a busy Saturday and the weather outside was beautiful, Zinnani went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and comfortable. They were not only friendly and warm, but also took the time to explain the different tanning bed and booth options to me--something that's often overlooked. I've honestly felt uneasy in the past using the black card facilities close to closing time, worried that I might be inconveniencing the staff or causing a problem. But tonight was different. Zinnani made me feel seen and respected. There was no rush, no discomfort--just a positive, relaxed vibe. That meant more to me than they probably realize. I'm writing this review because too often, people are quick to report the negatives and forget to celebrate the good. Zinnani deserves the recognition, and so does the rest of the team who was working THIS specific evening. Thank you all for creating such a safe, kind space. I've been going through a lot lately--losing my mom this year, my sister two years ago, and currently helping my elderly father care for my sister with special needs, all while taking care of my own family. All the TREADMILLS are old and worn out. They barely work, the belt is rough & very choppy, uneven on some, sticky, not smooth, and they hurt your feet since the shocks and springs are worn out. The TV channels don't match the numbers on the TVs. Volume is poor when plugging in earphones to listen to TV channels. They are the cheap model brand treadmills. The treadmills are like this at ALL Planet Fitness locations in MA [unlike in NH where they have same brand but video console so you can watch the tv on the treadmill monitor and youtube etc]. They NEVER HAVE REPLACED any treadmills at ANY PF locations upon member request, but have replaced other cardio & weight equipment with new equipment that members either don't want & don't regularly use. Members taking photos in locker room and gym itself with tripods set up which is very annoying and uncomfortable. Very noisy with lots of banging weights & unenforced by staff. They have cleaning solution sprayers everywhere throughout the facility that inconsiderate members are spraying all over the place and directly at machines splashing it around onto other nearby members creating a hazard by getting it onto their clothing or in their eyes. Staff doesn't enforce rules or even care and are clueless. [It's like this at ALL PF locations in MA]. No management onsite here or at ANY other PF locations either. The PF corporation also violates the member contract (willful breach of contract) as well by continuing to monthly bill member's banking accounts for $25.00 when membership has been appropriately frozen for 3 months in person with written documentation provided to branch manager for 3 months which is allowed in the contract. They refused to refund 3 months of wrongful billing, then also tried to sneak in an additional service fee of 20.00. They then said they'd "comp" the following 3 months to make up for it and it would still remain active for the 3 "free" months. Low and behold, they attempted to bill me again for the first "comped" month. Luckily I had notified my financial institution to put a "stop" on the EFTs until further notice. No actual email or names to contact for issues but just bot responses. "Regional Managers" are also clueless. PF in Hanover is a Great gym. It is very clean. The staff is Friendly and helpful. I love how they have massage chairs .

used to be great, but not so much now after adding new equipment and restructuring the interior. Seems geared more towards serious weightlifters than the average workout seeker. where there used to be up to three of the same kind of machine there is now only one which usually means a weight. 12/23/23: No hot water in the building today. The shower situation has NOT been good -- for a very long time. Ladies undressing today for showers only to discover they can't. Leaving upset. Assistant Manager (young, dark shoulder-length hair) entered locker room. I asked if she knew if it was broken, could be fixed, etc. She said she didn't know and was extremely rude & obstinate about it. Shockingly so. She was unwilling to discuss it or any solution. I asked for Manager who she happily disclosed was not there. She continued to be as obstinate and rude as possible and this was intentional on her part. I think she was afraid because she isn't qualified to be the Asst Mgr, and she is not willing to learn. I asked if she could reach Manager. She said "No, he is with his kids today and I don't want to interrupt him." A Manager's job is to be available for situations like this. I don't care WHAT you are doing. You have a responsibility and you are accepting a paycheck for that. I asked if I could call him then. She said I could only email him and to get his card up front. On my way out she intentionally ignored me as I looked for the card. When I asked for it (tried to communicate with her again) she was arrogant, disrespectful, defiant. This younger generation will do anything they can to get out of work. And Planet Fitness has some of the laziest employees anywhere. read more

Planet fitness seems to have a problem opening on time, Alot of staff members complain that the 14$ an hour is to low while working the overnight shift. Its not fair to us members who show and expect to workout only to find the gym closed. Planet fitness does not have a number you could call to inquire why they aren't open, Then when you try to notify the cooperate office of the problem, that is also a dead end [meaning there is no main number] Pay the employees so they will show and get rid of the incompetent employees. read more

I just joined and signed up on the app for a new member orientation. I got an email confirming said orientation and an alert reminding me about it. I took time off work to attend. I show up for the "orientation" and the front desk staff all stare at me blankly. Then they tell me they don't do orientations and that option should have been blacked out. They don't have any trainers. I was like, "Wow, because I don't know how to use most of the equipment here. It's hard to retain members this way." They told me to scan QR codes and read about how to use the equipment. Holy sh*t. That seems like a great way to hurt myself. You get what you pay for, but in this case, even less. Moral of the story is this is a decent, cheap place if you know what you are doing or just want to use a treadmill. If you need even a tiny bit of human guidance, you are out of luck. read more

Typical PF in the sense that it is essentially hostile to resistance training. 75% of the space is loaded with unused cardio machines. The rest is dedicated to nonsensical and ineffective resistance equipment. Of course this is the equipment most in demand so it's difficult to get a work out in of any significance most of the time. Just an atrocious fitness experience all around. The ultra low price lured you in but don't bite. read more

I went into Planet Fitness and Hanover today to sign up again. I explain to them what happened at my home club in Middleborough yesterday and they were so friendly and understanding and helpful. Great staff Middleboro needs to hire people like the Hanover staff stay away from Middleboro that's all I can say it's dirty and the front desk staff are very rude and they don't care about keeping members. The website says it opens at 7am on Sunday and they are not open yet. I have been waiting here for 10minutes nobody has arrived yet. Usually the person that opens gets here 15minutes before hand. I had the most disappointing experience recently with the management of this facility and feel it is important for customers or potential customers should be aware of. First off I had been a member at PF for approximately 5 years and was pleased with the flexibility of the different locations they offer. Secondly I have been going to various health clubs for over 35 years. I enjoy exercising. This is where it gets interesting. I had completed my workout and returned to my locker only to discover that the management had cut off my lock. Frankly it was no big deal, at least I thought so. Person before me absentmindedly left their keys in the locker and left. The keys were not visible when I secured the locker prior to my workout. Evidently he didn't have his keys when he got to his car he came back in and asked for help. Since they don't have a public address system they simply cut the lock off to get him on his way. As I stated it was no big deal. My only expectation was to replace my lock with a similar functionality and quality. Frankly I did not cause this problem. Upon leaving I gave the desk clerk my contact information to insure proper replacement. It took me a week to get back to the club and apparently the manager decided a PF keyed lock would be sufficient and refused to replace it with a similar Master heavy duty 4 digit combination lock. The clerk gave me the cards of the regional and assistant regional manager to discuss the matter further. I attempted to call both of them the next morning but they wouldn't take my call. I then got a call from the Manager of the Hanover facility and she refused to budge and said too bad. Is it reasonable to expect replacement of similar quality and functionality? The next day I noticed and email from PF telling me my membership was terminated. I guess this PF must have some serious financial problems since they felt it was appropriate to replace a $20 lock with a $2 lock. When pushed for proper replacement they decided they would terminate my membership. Finally to add insult to injury they control all the PF locations from Dorchester to Plymouth and I'm left without a gym for the time being all because I'm a principled man that felt their decision to cut off my lock was understandable but warranted making me whole. They didn't feel that was the proper course of action. Buyer beware..... read more

They do not recycle what so ever based on my observations @ locations I frequent. Very disappointed. Locations that do have recycling bins which aren't all I have seen being thrown in regular trash. Staff trash behind front desk filled with plastics. Staff should be trained to recycle & signs for patrons as well. This is 2023. Most PF I visit don't recycle. Rt 1 Mass & hingham sites - ZERO recycling. PF sells beverages all in plastic containers & isn't being responsible. Staff always very nice in all PF I use. Down South VA & FL I have too found poor recycling to none. Gotta do better. I have many pics I could post but opt only to do verbal review in hopes of having some impact for change. Makes me want to almost cancel membership. read more

This is a good gym. New/clean equipment, friendly staff. I do have a handful complaints though: 1. They HAVE to do something about the smell in the men's locker room. Improve the ventilation, move the toilets to a different area, install full enclosures around the toilets, put in doors, move sinks to other side of wall, ANYTHING. It smells so bad in there at all times. The toilets, sinks and showers are all in the same room so people do their thing in the toilets and the scent becomes a mist from the shower steam that sticks to your face while you wash your hands. It's nasty. 2. Need more smith machines, there is always a wait to wait to use them when it's busy. 3. There are 4 or 5 manhole covers right at the entrance that all say SEWER. The smell coming out of these sewers is shocking, like Cousin Eddie from Christmas Vaca emptying his RV toilet into the sewer shocking. Terrible placement for these things, hold your nose entering and exiting. 4. Finally, I don't think the water coming out of the hydration station is filtered. If it is the filter needs to be changed. The water form it tastes terrible and stinks up my water bottle every time. It smells and tastes like mildewy, metallic, old pipe water. read more

Extremely sketchy billing practices. I was only there a few weeks and canceled before they billed they yearly fee, yet I was still charged! Discussed it with the gym and they said oh well go to corporate. I talk to corporate and they tell me only the gym can change it and made up a new reason why it was charged. And all of this was after the staff canceling my membership assured me that I would not be charged anything! Incredibly inept and predatory, never go there! read more

I really like this location. It's nice and open. Bright, but not too bright. It's always cool enough. The staff is always friendly and attentive. My only complaint is the women's locker room setup. There's not enough space for more than one person to get ready, at a time, in front of the mirror (hair, makeup, etc), but I think that's a design flaw with the chain. I've yet to see a great locker room at one of the locations. Wink wink, hint hint, nudge nudge. read more

I am a brand new member, I see their motto is a no judgement zone however my first week there I hear one of their employees mocking and making fun of one of the girls on the treadmill right in front of me ! I can also sense every time after checking in they laugh at me and mock me as soon as I walk away, they must think people are stupid, so much for their motto! I will be writing a letter to management . The females that work there are vicious and snobby!! I am appalled at the condescending behavior displayed at this location! Never had an issue like this at the Hingham location, you would think as a new location their goal would be to retain new members. I am too old for childish behavior. I am writing this as a buyer beware. My teen signed up with my card in November of 2020. I told her that she would need to change billing to her own card the following month as she was responsible for the monthly fee. She instead opted to cancel. In Dec. 2020 my card was charged $10, I had her call then and there to confirm cancellation and I figured I would eat the fee. Feb 2021 I am reviewing my accounts and see PF has charged me $54 and another $25 in January along with $25 in Feb. ($104). I call and talk to the manager who says (1) she was never actually cancelled in Dec. because now you have to sign to cancel. When I point out (1) that I was standing next to her when she called and no one told her that, and also that I have previously cancelled my husband's membership by phone without issue (2) I NEVER authorized them to use my card that is in my name only he sent me to the Boston manager via email. He also said some of those fees are "late charges" and could not answer how considering it was my account and I assure you there were ample funds available. SCAM- they had no problem charging multiple late fees to the same account without issue. Boston manager forwards my email to the regional manager who pretty much calls me and says too bad, maybe if she had not officially cancelled he could credit her something but since she did he can't do anything for me. He ALSO has no explanation for the late fees and says it didn't go through, maybe there was a wrong number, etc (but again it magically worked for the increased fees- did the guess?) and also that his staff is not accountable to make sure the person signing the contract is actually the cardholder (his kids use his cards all the time). That he will print out the billing for me and if I want to file a complaint go ahead. SO- that is exactly what I am doing, along with trying to save anyone else from being dealt with in such a fraudulent manner. I gave them the chance to work with me to resolve and they had no interest. Stay FAR away- they may advertise cheap prices, but they will get you for far more, making anywhere a better option. I am currently out $149 for what was a one month membership. read more

I am very disappointed with this Hanover, MA Planet Fitness as I canceled my membership, in person as they had requested back in March,2020 due to my concerns with COVID and turned in my entry card at that time and was informed that I was all set yet. However, upon review of my bank statement today, I see two new membership charges for July and August! I called in and the agent asked me to come in AGAIN to end membership (which apparently was reinstated upon their reopening) and seemed to doubt that I had actually rescinded my membership as I was stating. Now I have to call back to their manager, "Ryan" who lacks a surname and also write a physical letter to them in lieu of coming in again. I feel that they either had an incompetent staffer present back in March who informed me that my membership was canceled, OR they were incompetent in their reopening phase when they reactivated memberships that were already canceled. I am very disappointed and will never use Planet Fitness again! read more

As expected for a brand-new location, it is very clean and well-kept and even on crowded weekends, seem to have enough treadmills, ellipticals, etc, to handle the volume. Agree with a previous reviewer that while pleasant, the front desk could be friendlier and more approachable, though doesn't affect my feelings about the place. That said, my rating would be higher if they would offer a different mix of TV stations - more often than not there is at least 1-2 infomercials running, and besides ESPN, it's a steady stream of news - including 2 FOX news channels? If you're focused on overall health and well-being, perhaps consider a mix of stations that offer something for everyone and provide a little lighter content other than a constant barrage of news. Some of us come to the gym to get away from this! read more

I agree with KD from Norwell. I go on my lunch hour and on most days there are people on the 30 minute work out that are not doing the 30 minute work out. For example they will jump between 2 machines and monopolize them. They don't wipe them down. I have asked at the front desk 2 times about that. First time they said they would check into it. Second time I was told that they don't monitor it and its not just for the 30 minute work out. That there are machines in there that are not out on the floor. I asked then if the signs didn't mean anything and I got a smile. I was also told that they ask that people do not do more than 2 reps in there and if I see someone doing more I should let the front desk know. I told them they should take a walk back there now. They did not. There were 4 girls standing around chatting. Not sure why the area cant be monitored they clearly had the time to do it. Oh and when I left they were laughing. I will still continue to go there because its cheap. I guess you get what you pay for. I will say I am very disappointed. But now I know not to expect much from the staff. read more

It's very clean and new. I had been a member at the Hanover Y, then the PF in Medford. It seemed that the Y and Medford PF had the same equipment except PF's were those awful yellow & purple colors. Good quality stuff though. I find the Hanover treadmills & stair machines feel a bit cheaper, but maybe that's just me...they seem to be different somehow though. Not a bad gym at all for $10/month but if the Y were cheaper I'd probably go there again- I liked the large studio area for doing your own thing with weights, steps, etc. Decent gym though. read more

Extremely disappointed with Planet Fitness Hanover MA business practices. My husband and I just got charged $39/piece for "annual membership fee as explained to us when we signed up." I do not recall that conversation or written part of "agreement." I will go see if I can find it. I do recall the employee acting annoyed at the fact that I wanted to READ what I was signing instead of just signing where they told me to. My husband and I joined shortly after they opened last year and unfortunately haven't been going. I believe we've been 2 -4 times. We keep having the monthly fee withdrawn from our account - $20 total - and we keep saying we need to tell them we are cancelling. Shame on us for not cancelling BUT SHAME ON PF - what about a review of membership: you would see that we haven't been going; someone could've called and said, "We notice that you haven't been coming and our annual fee is about to be charge." THAT would have been good business. read more
