I went in as a guest and loved it. It is quiet and respectful inside. It took some getting use to the dim lights but I guess it keeps the quiet mood in check. so I started going there, I've only been a few times but I signed up when it was a dollar for 30 days after two weeks. They went ahead and charge me the full 25.00 in my bank account and wouldn't give me a refund for it. and of course they continue to charge once a month which I understand and then they charge you $60 after two months of going there for the entire year so I would definitely read the fine print and they should've did a refund for $25 but they never did they just allowed it to happen even though it's supposed to be a dollar for 30 whole days. Staff is friendly & helpful. only issue is some equipment, for example the knobs on the equipment to adjust the heights to do cable cross overs is gone so it's very difficult to adjust the height. read more

Fellow yelper and friend Nicole M. Brought me as a guest to this location recently. I used to be a member at the Irondequoit location years ago, but had a far better experience here that warrants a review. First of all, the size of this club is very large. There is a lot of cardio equipment and a decent amount of weights. There are sections for a variety of workout preferences. The treadmills seem to be newer and offered a more smooth walk in comparison to the machines at my LA fitness. On my visit, we were graced with the sounds of a lunk. We're not supposed to judge in the no-judgment zone... But you're also not supposed to slam your weights. And after the first three times it gets annoying. And I guess that's the point at which the lunk alarm goes off. I must note that the ladies locker room bathroom was kinda a mess. I hope it isn't always that way. If I didn't love my sauna and pool acces and class options so much at LA I might considering joining here again. At least I can come as a guest with black card membership holders. read more

I've been coming to this location for awhile now, and in comparison to other local gyms (and PF locations) I will continue to do so. Here is why: They went through a large renovation last summer, and the end product was pleasing. It is all on one floor, quite large and handicap accessible. I am pleased to say that the weight machines and cardio machines are far enough apart for those using wheelchairs or walkers. They recently updated some of the machines at the Spencerport-Gates location for this, and I hope to see them follow here at Gates. They continue to have their yellow 30 minute quick workout section, in addition to the floor machines. I would like to see PF add an additional pectoral fly machine, because bros be hoggin' it. There are four stairmasters near the televisions against the far wall, a small abs area with medicine balls, mats, and ab balls. There are plenty of cardio machines, bikes, etc. I do not feel like it is hard to get a machine, even at peak time unlike other locations. With taxes and all that, I have a black card membership for $22 a month, plus one fair annual fee. This lets me go to all PF locations, bring unlimited guests, pay half price for cooler drinks, have a personal training plan service, tanning, and massage chairs. I was paying almost $37 at LA Fitness. Although PF does not have group exercise classes or a pool/sauna, the pros of PF keep me there for now. read more

No frills and affordable, Planet Fitness pretty much has everything I need in a gym. It's spacious, clean, full of cardio machines and is practically open all the time. I think it's the perfect gym for anyone on a tight budget. Looking at my 12-month contract, I paid $99. You really can't beat $9/month and while most people (including myself) are able to spend more on a gym membership, I don't really find the need to spend more. I am by no means a gym rat or muscle-head, but being a foodie takes it's toll on the body. I pretty much go to Planet Fitness in an attempt to maintain a BMI of about 26 (still overweight) and to keep up with my cardio. Most people eat to live. I mostly live to eat and work-out in order to eat more. So Planet Fitness serves this purpose well. I visit at the busiest of times and still find a treadmill easily. Along with the 15+ treadmills, there is an equal number of elliptical machines, 7+ stationary bikes and 7+ AMTs. All the treadmills and ellipticals have individual TVs. There are also a wide variety of weight machines and dumbbells ranging all the way up to 75 lbs. If you routinely work-out with heavier dumbbells or other free weights, then Planet Fitness may not be for you. I believe there are only 2 bench press racks, 1 leg press rack and 2 multipurpose power racks. They also have only one curl bar. For the size of the gym, there is disproportionately small amount of free weights as compared to cardio equipment. Everything is available, but you will probably find yourself waiting on busy days to use the free weights. For the cardio and weight machines, there is hardly ever a wait. At under $10/month you miss out on a lot of luxuries. Planet Fitness has limited to no fitness classes, no pool and no basketball court. While some other people may poke fun at PF for being a gym catered to half-assed occasional gym-goers (which is probably true for any gym), I believe it's a very viable option for the self-motivated individual whose primary focus is cardio and secondarily free weight training. Just try not to go on the first Monday of the month, when free pizza is served, or else your workout will be for naught. read more

I went to this gym a while ago and it was okay. Plenty of equipment and a reasonable price, but I found it hard to enjoy being there without more windows and I found the idea of pizza on Tuesday nights to be annoying, and I was never even someone who was gung-ho about loosing weight. I found that LA Fitness was more conducive to working out over a longer period of time, but that place was expensive and was especially bad about giving me the run-around when I decided to cancel my membership there. Planet Fitness, on the other hand at least let me quit right away without giving me any funny business. My favorite gym these days is one that is available to me for free through work. If I had to pay I'd probably go with JCC. Planet Fitness is a good deal if you're highly motivated and don't meet up with people for HIIT classes. read more

I have good and bad experiences here. Good experiences usually happen when there are less people at the gym. I get to do what I want when I want to. Bad experiences usually happen when there are just too many people. It happens but sucks. There are every type of gym personality here. Including an old naked guy who doesn't gaf haha. Just gonna say it straight out: I'm a big fan of Planet Fitness. There are ample machines everywhere (both cardio and standard weight machines), they allow you to do olympic lifting, there's a TON of space and you never really have to worry about waiting for a machine, it's only $10/month at the lowest level of membership, and no one's there to judge you or try and sell you something every time you walk in. There's been some problems with other gyms in Rochester throwing too much propaganda in your face, but I feel Planet Fitness is not that way at all. If you just want to go in, get a good workout with really good quality equipment with a friend or on your own without distraction, Planet Fitness is the place - and the price is great too! Like most gyms though, do remember to bring a lock to lock up your clothes in the locker room, and be sure to take it with you when you leave read more

The $10 a month craze on gym memberships is upon us, and this Planet Fitness definitely delivers. You are only limited to this location for that price level, but that's ok, it's the closest one to me anyway. Plus the hours are a huge convenience when you are just feelings that urge to run or pump some iron (ok, Arnold). It's open 24 hours from Monday at midnight until 9pm on Friday, and 7 to 7 on weekends. Most other gyms and fitness clubs can't come close to that! This place is absolutely massive, and makes anytime of the day feel like it's not crowded. Having 40+ ellipticals, and 40+ treadmills eliminates the need to wait or put your name on a list. The treadmills have personalized TVs, so can't complain with that. They also have a varied amount of machines, and a cool work out cycle with a stop light to let you know when to start and stop. The free weight section has about ten benches, and a few sets of each. I enjoy the air horn that goes off when someone drops weights hard onto the ground even though it scares me every time! The locker room is clean, however it smells, not going to lie. But $10 a month is worth it the convenience and the location of this gym. read more

Planet Fitness - JFZ! - Gyms Near Me - Henrietta, New York

I have been a member 3 days Day one. Signed up for my membership. Everyone was friendly. They showed me class schedules to which I signed up for orientation which is mandatory and meeting with the personal trainer to set up an individual plan scheduled for 2 days after orientation Day 2. Orientation day. I got there by 5pm my scheduled time sat at the designated table for 5 minutes while 3 staff at the counter saw me sitting there but no one came over to me. After 5 minutes I went to the counter and asked if I was going to get orientation and the trainer that was there said so and so is doing an orientation but I guess I can do yours. Which he did. Ok maybe there was a miscommunication. Day 3. I wanted to learn the 30 minute work out. The trainer said I didn't need an appointment so again I got there on time and sat at the designated table. Again I was ignored by staff behind the counter. I waited 7 minutes. I finally got up and got on a machine. Staff saw me there including the trainer from the previous day but no one asked to help me. I was pissed to say the least. Staff is paid to help. The class meets here sign is visible but people get ignored. I'm scheduled to meet with the trainer tomorrow. I'm sure it will be a repeat of last 2 days. I shouldn't have to go up to the counter to remind staff of class schedules. I'm in sight sitting in designated area So far beyond reasonable price and a lot of open machines it hasn't been a good experience. read more

Owners aren't focused on their customers. An example that I care about is which TV stations are available to watch. While the majority (55%) of residents in Henrietta are Democrat, there are four FOX, one CNN and no MSNBC TVs available at this Planet Fitness. read more

Joe has a PF Black card, so we were able to visit this Planet Fitness while up in Rochester. Very nice! It was way less crowded than the one in the Bronx and the treadmills have mini TVs right on the machine!!! They also have a stretching device (that sounds so violent!) that my gym doesn't have. It's like this big jungle gym thing you hang from. Loved it. Kid behind the counter was super sweet. I liked that they didn't make me give them my driver's license as a guest, which the one in the Bronx does (to my endless annoyance). Would visit here again! Staff is rude and abrasive over the phone. Not helpful in the slightest I called to cancel a membership because I'm now out of state and was met with attitude from a female worker there. As well as not letting you cancel over the phone they will continue to charge you. DO NOT go here if you would like a fun and safe workout environment. The equipment is lacking, not a single spot to squat properly or deadlift. With only one bench this place should be a called a cardio meetup not a gym. read more

I came into Planet fitness to visit and see if this was the gym for me. I'm looking for an environment to help motivate me in my workouts. Planet fitness didn't seem like the gym for me. The gym was a pretty decent size, but everything was laid out all together. I like stations and spread out areas so I don't feel clustered, this gym didn't provide me that feeling unfortunately. read more

The staff is amazing. Rochelle is the manager and since she has taken over the place has improved dramatically. Brooke is an excellent trainer and Sam and Sarah give excellent customer service. The hot water tanks failed but since they were replaced, the hot water is excellent. The locker rooms are extra clean and the equipment is updated and modern. Plenty of paper towels. Only problems I see is that the weekends are not 24/7 and the gym will not accommodate kids under 13. read more

Just went here for the day to workout as I am visiting family and from another state. It cost $15 for a one time pass, pricey but pretty much par for the course at most gyms. While the place was huge and has tons of cardio, I was very disappointed to see the free weight area. It's tiny relative to the rest of the facility and the heaviest dumbbells I saw were 75 lbs. I only weigh 155 lbs and frequently use 100 lb dumbbells in my routines. I am assuming this is because they dont want "lunks" dropping weights on the floor as they have some alarm thing that apparently goes off. Seems silly to limit 95% of the members just because of a small minority don't follow gym etiquette, but whatever. So if you are looking for a good place to lift, I cannot recommend......otherwise it's fine. read more

I highly recommend this location out if all the other PF locations in Rochester. Very clean, people clean up after themselves, and the staff is wonderful. The assistant manager Jakyie is always very warm and welcoming. Their tanning beds are the best and they have to most equipment. There is plenty of room for stretching. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the AH person working forgot to turn my tanning bed on and I had to open the door and remind her. However, she was extremely nice and apologetic. Here is a current review of Planet Fitness. I used to be their biggest fan, but not anymore. The place has gone downhill and the manager doesn't care, good luck getting a hold of him. Things to be aware of: There has been a recent change to the hot water and it is non-existent if you plan on showering after your workout. You are lucky if you get a few seconds of hot water, but after that it turns cold quick. The staff are fully aware and say they will 'push the button' to reset it but it has never made any difference. The manager, who would not come to the phone, relayed through an employee that he has to have someone look at it... nothing has changed in months. I suspect it is another way of them going on the cheap. If you enjoy watching tv while working out, go elsewhere. Yes, every treadmill has it's own tv, but upon a closer look, you will see that more than half of them have the remote controls ripped out, or the remote buttons don't work, or the volume cannot be adjusted. I am told the manager had a disagreement with whomever is responsible for fixing them, so they will not be getting fixed. Usually women's locker rooms in general are in pretty good shape, but this one has been on the downslide. Stall doors and simple hardware have been broken for over a year now. It would be nice to have a $2 hook to hang a shower bag on. You can let the staff know these things are broken, but it is the same story every time, they are working on it. I wonder how bad the men's locker room is. A plus side is it a cheap membership and there are plenty of paper towels rolls to go around. read more

I really like Planet Fitness. I go with my friends after work and even though that's one of their busiest times we always find something to do. I don't feel judged being there and people are easy going and willing to let you know when they'll be done with a machine if you're waiting. It's also very affordable. read more

I paid for, my membership not knowing that they were under construction for this new location. The showers were not working but there was a sign that said they'd be working by a certain day. They took the sign down when the day arrived and the showers were still not working. I went in yesterday and they were working on the toilets and I could not use them. I felt extremely unsafe with men in the women's locker room. During the workout, there were people working while we were working out. Drilling, loud noises, dust in the air. IF I WANTED TO WORK OUT AT A CONSTRUCTION SITE, I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN A MEMBERSHIP AT ONE. *Please* next time just open the gym when it's actually ready to use. maybe you're making money now but it seems like that's all your worried about, and not the health and safety of your members. read more

Great place for a morning workout. It gets kind of crazy in the evening but if you find a routine with open equipment that works for you then you should be just fine. I really like that there are few "meatheads" and more on the side of active middle age - elderly clientel. I've only been a member since December but can't find enough good things to say about that staff, cleanliness and variety of equipment. The only two issues I have are the size and cleanliness of the locker rooms particularly the showers and the lack of open space for stretching and warm ups/cool downs. Overall, the GM Emine, as well as the team, do a great job running the place. read more

This is one of the worse gyms I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Their "trainer" has no idea what he is doing. I explained to him that I had a heart condition and due to osteoporosis I had severe arthritis and bone on bone in both my knees. I had to lose 40 pounds before I could have knee surgery. My orthopedic said nothing but low impact exercise. The trainer put me on the treadmill and insisted I do the stepping on the interval training. I trusted this "expert"and unfortunately I injured my knee worse, tearing ny ACL and tearing my meniscus. It was so bad I could barely walk. My sister took my request for cancellation into the Webster NY gym where we had joined. Shortly after that I had to move my belongings into storage when I moved in with my fiance. Well they never cancelled and I just realized that they have been charging my account yhe whole time. My bad for not paying more attention. But when they charged me $39 for a renewal I never requested, which is what alerted me, well it was the last straw. Not only did their trainer misguided me but they have essentially been stealing $19.99 a month from me for several months. I'm severely disabled and I only get $852 a month from social security. They made it so I can't walk without a cane and have made me unable to do much in the way of exercise. The manager Nate was rude and completely unhelpful. I discovered from calling corporate that this site is privately owned. Nate said it was owned by corporate. Another lie. He said my.membership was not cancelled. A lie. I've called and complained to Eric Schneiderman NYSE Attorney General. I'll talk to a lawyer as well. read more
