I had…read moreno idea at the time that Powerhouse Gym would become my 2nd home, that the staff and members there would become friends and family, and that stepping through those doors would change my life. The owner Phil genuinely cares about his members and their success, as does his amazing staff. Dustin has been my Primary Trainer for 6 weeks, and is so in tune with his clients, and goes above and beyond what is expected of him. I take the Burn, Semi-Private, and Spin classes, and have learned so much, and have had so much fun, and have worked harder than I ever thought I could. I am indebted to everyone at Powerhouse Gym Lake Orion for making me feel so welcome, for pushing me, encouraging me, and always treating me with care and respect. You have changed my life, and I am forever grateful.

Fred, the trainer-owner, offers personal training sessions or a monthly rate on your own. I would highly recommend this gym to someone who needs remedial work on themselves. Its mostly regular folk working out there - not the super buffed folks who like to look at themselves in the mirror. This place offers pretty much what you need for a reasonable price. And, its much better than cluttering up your basement with equipment that you probably would use only once or twice, don't you think?

I've been working with them for the past two…read moremonths, and as someone who was nervous about starting to lift, they have really made the experience less intimidating. They create a welcoming environment where I never feel judged, which is important to me. I'm always impressed how well they're able to gauge my weight limits. There are times when I doubt my ability to lift more, but they encourage me to push myself, and I end up succeeding. They pay close attention to my form and make adjustments whenever I feel uncomfortable. Their flexibility with scheduling has also been a big help; if I'm running late, they are always accommodating. Ian and Callum bring such positive energy, and I feel like I can consider them friends making coming to the gym more enjoyable. Between the accountability, meetings with Danny, messages and ability to interact and ask questions of the other trainers whether in person or through MyCoach, I've experienced quite the shift in my mindset, habits and ability to focus on my goals and stay the course. Deeply internalizing my "why" (instead of thinking it's so easy for those people, or I deserve this treat !) and remembering "it is my choice to lose this weight and maintain it, because I value and want good health and fitness" is huge. Perspective.....Honoring the commitments I've made to myself is another great way to get my tush out of bed and keep me from grabbing chocolate (even if it's healthy dark chocolate) or snacks when I'm exhausted and emotionally fried after a long day at work. I finally sit down and proceed to watch my husband chow down a progression of food like ice cream, popcorn, a hot dog, and oh yeah....a bowl of nuts with a couple of cookies tossed on top! This after a healthy dinner. And the dude doesn't gain!!! I eat very clean, no pop, no fast food ever and almost no processed food. Any yet those 10 pounds relentlessly find me. Not this time. I've committed to tracking my food for a year, (it's amazingly easy for the fats and carbs to skyrocket when I'm thinking oh I didn't eat that much today). I let Danny's words propel me to action......track before you snack....or eat! Seeing in black and white my choices really helps me to decide how I want my day and ultimately my figure to look. They don't have enough trainers for how many people they sign up. I ask about it to Danielle and she was rude and never called me back. All I see is flirting and the regular members get ignored. Nancy is a joke and needs to retire. If you have complaints about her classes she isn't there to talk to. The front desk staff are on the phone and ignore people coming in. No hello. The area is dangerous with panhandlers who are aggressive. That area of Flint is getting worse. All in all it's way too expensive for what they offer. Planet Fitness is better customer service so I joined there.
