Prices have gone up, yet this gym continues to have one working shower in the women's locker room. I've been coming to this gym over a year, since I started a job in Laurel, and have said something to at least three different staff members over a year and the hot water is still an issue. There isn't a good reason why three ladies are waiting to use the middle shower because it's the only one out of three that has hot water. The handicap shower may have hot water but no one uses it because it doesn't have a functional shower head/hose. The hose just hangs down the wall without a hook to attach it to the wall. We pay a monthly fee we should be able to use the shower especially when we are trying to get ready for work. Unacceptable. I can deal with broken equipment because I can always find an alternative workout, but it's hard to find an alternative way to take a warm shower. Please fix the hot water! Planet Fitness - Laurel is clean, well lit and just received an upgrade of equipment (within the last month or more). I am glad they got the upgraded equipment because the old equipment wasn't the best. The staff always says good morning when I enter and have a nice day as I leave. Locker room and lockers are clean. Bathroom was clean and showers were good. I noticed each PF you visit has slightly different set-ups. This one is close to home so I go mainly for the convenience. Other patrons have been nice as well I go at least 5 times a week in the am and it isn't overly crowded. Seems like the earlier you go at this location the less people are there Different at the metro city area PF's. I haven't had any issues going here and will continue to use this as my home gym. I have noticed some patrons don't wipe down the machines after they use them so I always wipe before and after. Not a knock on PF just on my fellow members. Staff does walk around and clean while I have been there and that is comforting. Overall good solid gym location especially when you are coming in and focused on your workout. read more

I was visiting the facility as a perspective member. I gave this location a 2/5 based on the fact that 1 out of 7 stair machines are working and half of the other equipment is out of order. I was refused a chance to try the water massage chairs because I was a guest and not a memeber. maybe I will check out another location or not. read more

Planet fitness is truly the judgment free zone. It's a very welcoming environment. I truly feel comfortable with going intense one day and taking it easy the next day. The staff is usually friendly with their greeting and saying goodbye. I usually go at lunchtime and there's always a free treadmill or elliptical available during that time. They also, offer small group training that usually last about 30 minutes. Overall, the space is very clean, accommodating, and affordable. read more

May2023: 3: I searched for a local fitness center near the Airbnb which I was staying in Laurel. I came across this location and decided to go here and check it out. I noted that there were a lot of parking spaces out front and limited handicap parking spaces adjacent to the entrance. When I entered the facility, I saw five people standing behind the desk. I scanned my code and kept moving. As I looked around the facility, that's all that. There were several machines that had out of order signs on them as well as out of order signage in the restroom. Stay away. Half the gym has been closed for the summer due to construction. No locker rooms, no bathrooms, no water fountain, etc.

This particular fitness center on Fort Meade is not the best. Some of the upright bikes have pedals missing. Some of the treadmills arms are ripped up. And last but not least the massage chairs are OLD OLD and still uses coins to start them (smh). But all the staff are super friendly and very helpful. read more

I really do like this planet fitness out of all the ones that i have been to. I am a black card member and have been to two others in the area frequently and one in Virginia. But this one i feel like the staff is more genuine, i like the amount of space and the cleanliness. I hate walking in to a gym and it just smells like chronic funk ! You will NOT get that here, and i appreciate it. I have not used all of their black card perks yet because i did not really know how it works but i asked another member yesterday and she told me so i am excited to use the massage & hydro spa chair. I feel like every time i come there is some sort of machine or equipment that i can use. So i do not have to worry about coming at 6:30 and not being able to find something to use. Not one of their nicest franchise locations (its the area, not the gym) however Its convenient when Im on that side of town. It carries all of the same basic amenities. Ive visited quite a few locations as a blk card member and each one has a different atmosphere. So far the one in DC near Okie St is the nicest! The lockers even have integrated locks to secure your items. This location could benefit from that sort of investment as a nice touch since patrons can no longer leave their keys on the board. The eye candy quotient is slightly better than the Ft Meade location. Im not a creep but it helps to workout around attractive people. IJS read more

Cool gym you never harassed by anyone the staff is nice and friendly and it's clean. Now the men hog the weight area so you have to be a little assertive if you want to use them and it's a nice size but can easily get crowded which it's no point to even work out like I said the men don't harass but they hog as well. I wear my mask as I walk around the gym but not when I'm on the machine, when I'm by myself. Surprisingly the most consistently clean planet fitness i've been to. Almost every single time i'm here there is someone cleaning or replacing paper towels or something. Very nice to see, considering how dirty other planet fitness' locations are. Not all of their equipment is the most up to date, but they have a good variety and work well. read more

Updating my review: I frequently come here mid morning. The teach "classes" here, usually consisting of two to three people tops. They will take over the entire express workout section barring access to anyone else and reserve benches in the dumbbell area that they aren't even using and prohibit other people from using them. This is bad business for a gym that already has a limited selection of equipment. Other equipment is broken a lot as well. I will be cancelling my membership before it renews in September. read more

I did a day pass at the Planet Fitness in Laurel and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. I took the PF360 and Core class taught by Carmen and loved it! No judgment at this gym, just encouragement. It was my first time working out at this PF but I was really pleased. I'm currently searching for a gym and I had a appointment at another gym in this area but I flaked on it to get a proper work out in before walking around with some seedy gym salesman. I know I need a gym with a pool but I can always count on PF to be anywhere I am currently traveling and that makes me comfortable with staying at a hotel that doesn't have an adequate workout facility which is usually the case, right! Anyway this PF in laurels review is simply that is was clean and very organized. I'm a black card member so I can go to any PF which really works for my lifestyle. On any given day I can be at any of these PF in the dmv Chantilly, manassas, Hyattsville, downtown silver spring, white oak, Alexandria, and now laurel and that breaks up the monotony for me. In retrospect I may just keep my planet fitness and add a pool membership elsewhere to meet the aquatic stimulation needs. The one weird thing I found that I have never seen at any other PF was the partition between the stalls. I really have no words for it but it was amusing. read more

I am a fat boy. I beat anorexia to a pulp in my mid thirties, and in my mid forties I decided I needed to fix my new problem and my wife and other members of the family agreed. So we joined a gym, at this point it was World Gym in Glen Burnie, Md. We loved this gym and we got in better shape and lost weight. Not THE END. My parents had some serious health problems and we moved to Laurel Md to take care of my father. We tried to make the drive to Glen Burnie but it was doomed. So began our search for a good replacement. We tried Gold's Gym, not bad, but not World Gym caliber. We tried Laurel Health and Fitness (two different times); we tried fitness evolution; and we tried a couple others that were good at taking our money but not at motivating me to go. Finally we joined Planet Fitness (thank you Tee) in Laurel. We all like going, it is clean, all of the equipment is in good working order, they are 24/7, and it only costs $10 a month. I know it is $20 a month if you are a black card member. Everyone is polite and helpful. You can get help from a personal trainer when you need it (within reason). I am approaching fifty with a little less of me. read more

This has nothing to do with fees - it's the corruption that happens when one tries to cancel. Everyone - don't leave the building until you are sure a cancellation email has been emailed to you - if you leave they quickly forget you have canceled and continue billing. Transparency? I'm not the only one who has had this issue - check out their complaints on the Better Business Bureau. Same process repeated over and over. read more

In the two weeks I have had my membership this by far is the best location. I have been to Alexandria, Ft. Meade, and Silver Spring (which I thought was the best but has taken a turn for the worse clearly with management). This location is newer and large, surrounded within a 5 mile radius competing gyms. They draw serious fitness people and not people watchers or teenagers. Yes I know don't be a critic but for the price you either have to lower expectations or make sure they are realistic. Gym seems fairly clean. My ONLY complaint is the best cardio machines, Cybex, is literally above the machine. So much so I have to look either left or right because I am too close to the TV to look straight up. Not sure who thought that was a good idea. read more

I'm glad my boyfriend forced me to choose this gym instead of across the street that didn't have an annual fee. Clean, airy and unpretentious. Truly judgement free. Love the variety of TV channels played. Love the circuit workouts. Never packed inside and you are able to really hop on any machine. read more

I plan to end my membership. The front desk clerk (a red haired guy) was not accommodating regarding a day pass for my daughter. Planet Fitness website says that the age limit is 13. My daughter is 14 and was not allowed to workout. I would have been willing to pay for a pass also. He gave no options. If the regular morning crew was there they would have worked with me. I did not recognize him as regular staff. I am adding I am highly annoyed. He was dismissive in a "whatever sorry" fashion. I never get that treatment from the regular staff there. So discouraging for a young person with diabetes excited about working out. The two stars are for the staff I am used to working with. They have lost my account, my father's, and what would have been an account for my daughter and my husband. There are too many choices for gyms to not receive the expected level of standard customer service. If my money means "whatever" I'll take it else where. *******Update: The manager emailed me in record time. He handled the matter in the most professional way. I was emotionally charged this morning after the incident but after being assured the employee will be reminded of the age requirement and encouraged to work with clients I feel rest assured. This was my first issue and that is not with the gym itself. All other service has been top notch and the clientele are also very nice. Sorry to do this, but I am so done with this location. Too many people, personal trainers with their clients hosting classes and running the paying customers off. Can't even begin to talk about the cardio equipment, horrible. I have tried to complain but falls on deaf ears. Tonight was the end of the road, woman with her two clients stood over the section I was in, rude and the works chasing people out so her clients can work out. This is why we can't have nice things. I just started coming to this location when I moved to the area last year. It's a nice gym. Never to crowded where you have to wait for equipment. The place is nice and bright, workout equipment looks to be in good shape and it's not the best gym, but it gets the job done. read more

Cannot go to this gym anymore. There is no hot water in the showers! No Matter what, morning, noon, and night, the water is always cold! I'm going to call the HQ and complain after two dozen visits to this laurel gym nothing changes despite our telling the management about the problem I understand PF will address this problem so please update me when it is fixed. Terrible customer service. I moved out of the area and needed to cancel my membership after using this gym for 3 years (which was never that great of an experience to begin with). They would not let me do it over the phone because I had to come in to do it. I was told by several employees that if I came cancelled before the 10th of the month that I would not be charged. Every employee conveniently forgot to mention that if I didn't cancel by May 25th (I called on May 22nd) that I would be charged the $40 annual fee. I cancelled the membership membership on June 5th and was still charged the annual fee. I then called to speak to a manager that said there is no way to refund the fee even though I no longer have a membership and have not used the gym in over 6 months. On top of all of this their gym is usually very dirty and has many broken down machines. I will be advising everyone I know to not use this awful company. I could not reply to the comment that Planet Fitness replied with, so I edited this post to make sure that the company and everyone who reads this knows that the response was not helpful!!! The comment stated everything that I had already said YOUR EMPLOYEES never told me while I was trying to cancel in the first place! Thank you for not helping at all. read more

I am very disappointed with the Laurel Planet Fitness. I joined in 2014. It is now 2018 I really have not been to this gym for about 6 months. I was first turned off by the Manager, Ricky approaching me about not using the circuit the way it was planned to (in a circle). However there are members sitting on machines reading emails or looking at videos. So you could not use them. So I would go into the circuit areas where the same machine is not being utilized. I was told that as long as I cancel before the 1st of June I will not pay the yearly maintenance fee. I went in today to cancel. A staff informed me I will date that I needed to cancel by. The staff members apologized. The manager did not only asked if I want him to print up my membership contract I signed 4 years ago. I am no longer under a contract either. I am just disappointed with Planet Fitness. I was given the in correct information. read more

I feel welcome at Planet Fitness in Laurel. The location is clean and the workout equipment is plentiful and well-maintained. At my previous gym machines would be "awaiting repair" for weeks. There have been a few issues with the hydro massage and massage chairs in the black card area but they're usually repaired quickly. The best part, though, is the staff are helpful and friendly. I'd like to give a special shout out to Carmen, whose 30-min Circuit class kicks my butt every time but has helped me feel so much better physically. I go to the Columbia Md Planet Fitness center and the Laurel Planet Fitness center. The staff at both are excellant and so are the workout facilities. I live in Laurel so Laurel is most convenient for me to attend with my work schedule. I don't know what the ladies bathroom or showers are like but the mens shower area leaves much to be desired. Two out of the three showers have only cold or very cold water. The shower in the handicapped had hot water but the water aparatus was broken. I told someone at the front desk and he responded by telling me, "He could do nothing about it and I responded I know, but you can make a phone call and get something done and got no response." This is not accceptable. Planet Fitness does a good business volume in these locations and the bathrooms should at least be checked every 2-3 hours if not cleaned. The three people at the front desk are playing with their phone, talking or doing nothing; they can clean the bathrooms. read more
