Planet Fitness makes it a pain to cancel and their customer service suddenly vanishes when you ask about a refund. I moved away from the gym I started my membership at, but had the ability to work out at other locations. When I moved again, there was no planet fitness around, so obviously I wanted to cancel. They make you go back to the original store to cancel. On top of that, they have a hold on your account for 10 days, so you have to cancel prior. Since I hadn't used my account in months, and was not aware of all these stipulations on cancelling, I tried 5 times to contact my club for a refund. The manager was either too busy or out of town for over a week. I tried to email in to corporate, and they had no solutions. I messaged them on Facebook, but they just ignore you. Even after directing you to message them. After a month of trying to contact someone, I finally got a message saying they will not be doing a refund. A whole month. I find their customer service unprofessional and extremely misleading. I had no idea $20 was so important to them. read more

So....It is a gym. Yes, there is not much in the way of those looking to set records moving pounds and pounds of metal around but there is enough to get and stay in pretty good shape. The majority of the floor is devoted to cardio (what I typically refer to as hamster wheels) with treadmills, stationary bikes, ellipticals, arc trainers, and the endless escalators. The next biggest section is made up of almost any type of weight machine to challenge every direction you can (or want to) move your body. They have duplicates of nearly every machine so waiting times are minimal. There is 4 Smith machine power cages, a couple of ab coasters, one leg press machine and a couple of assisted dip/pull up contraptions. The smallest part of the facility is a corner (about 15% of the floorspace) of dumbbells with flat and adjustable benches. The dumbbell weights are from 5 to 75 I pounds in increments of 5 pounds (except there is not a set of 65 pounds(this is actually a frustration to me) skips from 60 to 70). There is two sets of each weight increment so it cuts down on wait times. All and all this is a good location. And with the daily guest passes, massage beds and chairs, and access to many locations nation wide, the $20 a month black card is totally worth it. On a side note, I heard that they had welcome packets at the Charlotte Pike Planet Fitness location. I thought the Murfreesboro facility might have a similar type of goody bag or newbie prize. When I inquired about such a product the staff member looked at me like I had fallen off the stupid tree and hit every branch on the way down. He answered with the default I'm sure every unpleased customer gets " We are a franchise and don't do things like the other Planet Fitness locations". read more

Equipment is newer so that is good. But they don't always have paper towel holders refilled for helping disinfect the equipment . Also they keep the gym too hot. I filled out a survey about the gym and mentioned it and they said it's out of their control as far as adjusting it. read more

They won't let you in unless you have a mask to walk the 20 feet from the front door to the front desk. No where else in the building are masks required. That's just stupid. read more

Let me start by saying I like many aspects of this gym. The gym has an over abundance of cardio equipment but it is missing a lot of important equipment to begin your journey to physical fitness. No bench press, no shoulder press, no squat rack, and minimal free weights. This limits our ability to build muscle and learn how to workout correctly. The staff at the front desk have random rules that change from week to week and it really seems to have more to do with their lack of understanding of how tanning beds work or massage beds work than with me not being allowed to use the equipment for whatever new random reason they can come up with. (Example: Sorry you can't use the beds because you don't have eye protection; I return with the eye protect goggles purchased from PF and I was told I had the wrong kind.) The men's showers desperately needs to be cleaned (I would be happy with once a month at this point) The level of mold on the walls is nuts. BTW Responding that "I should speak to a manger" is a nice way of saying we only care enough to pretend to care publicly. Just correct the issues and we will all notice. read more

The locker rooms in the gym are always absolutely disgusting. all the paper towel dispensers are always out. Workers just stand at the front desk a play on their phones. Making you wear a mask just to walk in the door and then take it off makes no sense at all. They need a real manager at this location. read more

worst company I e ever dealt with other than my boat with cabellas . this place has been taking my money for 3 1/2 years now when I cancelled it after my 5th surgery in 2021 and found out they still have been taking the money! ( my fault, I should have payed better attention ) but it took me 3 times of driving all over the place to finally cancel my account and they won't give me my $39 back they took out last week for the year coming up and I cancelled it today and they said they will still be taking the money on the 17th..I went into 3 locations and I recorded every single one for my attorney and was told oh well! billion dollar company and they have already stolen thousands from me cuz I was told it was cancelled in 2021 and it wasn't..and I just wanted my $39 back and don't take anything out on the 17th but again I was told oh well! Let me start by saying that the front desk has always been great except the one time I've had the unfortunate opportunity of coming in from out of town and a black female who was the GM was working. So rude and inconsiderate and didn't care I was from another Pf, just rushed me and my friend in while training the staff but you could tell her patience was pushed and she was taking it out on them. I wish I had gotten her name because I would email corporate about her bad attitude. Get it together PF. The employee rate has such a high turnover rate and it makes you wonder why. Great place to work out but maintenance lets a lot simple things go. The main clock on the wall, just past the entrance desk, has been incorrect for about a month and needs to be reset, repaired or what ever. Also, There has been a couple pieces of equipment that have missing bolts that I've reported to the staff, also over a month ago, that still haven't been repaired. (i.e. - the preacher curl machine is missing a bolt in the seat, which causes the seat to rotate, and there is an adjustable work out bench by the smith machines, with the same problem. read more

Screw this place! I signed up here with the impression I am not under a contract and now I'm being told I owe $58 to cancel my contract? This place is a rip off. I've shoveled out so much money to this place for it to have been nothing but a pain in my ass. They told me when I signed up we get a T-shirt that we had to wait for the shipment and then the next day when we went to go get it the next person says they're not doing that anymore. Now come to find out those same people that lied about the shirt signed me up under a contract when I SPECIFICALLY told him I wanted no contract originally! It is a very good looking gym. Very clean. Nice locker room. My issue is with their plans and with their billing system. I understand the $10 plan is for one gym, gives you free WiFi and free fitness trainings I think there needs to be an option to pay for certain perks of the black card like the hydromassage and massage chairs. Additionally, I don't like that they mandate you to pay monthly. There is no option to do advanced payments or even to pay in full for six months or a year or anything like that. Lastly, I don't like that you are required to give your card number, account number and routing number as well. I understand they think it is for peace of mind so you don't have to worry about remembering to pay a bill but some people don't pay their bills from checking/savings accounts. Some people use credit cards (typically for points because who doesn't love points lol). I understand why the company requires a checking account which is fine however, if you would like to take the "hassle" out of updating information all the time it would be a good option to update your app to allow customers to update it themselves as well as to make additional payments on their account. This would cut out the the club from needing to add, remove or update new information. IF that was put on the app I would consider membership with Planet Fitness. But at this current point in time, Planet Fitness is not a good fit for me. read more

Let me start by saying that I would have gave this location a 5 star rating if it wasn't for the horrible attitude of the girl maddie. She has a disgusting attitude, from her tone of voice to the facial expressions she makes wen speaking to you. Beside that everything else in this planet fitness is excellent. I joined last year thinking I would be paying $20 per month, but instead had $24.13 coming out of my account each month. Called them and was given an explanation, but not a good one. My mistake was to continue monthly. I noticed on my bank account I had $42.80 pending, that's when I remembered they also charge you an annual fee. Called to cancel and was told I had to have canceled by 6/25 in order to avoid that charge. I guess they need to make money somehow. Called corporate and they said the same thing. Customer service is not in there corner. Would discourage anyone from joining. There are many other gyms out there... read more

I paid the one day fee of $21 to check it out before I made a decision of what gym I would go with. I worked out at golds gym for 2 years before so maybe my opinion will be biased..? I really didn't see much to do here, there's a whole bunch of cardio (treadmills , bicycle, elliptical) machines. They have a handful of free weight but not enough space in my opinion. While staying at the nearby hotel, I visited this Planet Fitness 3 times. The staff was professional, friendly and helpful. The facility was clean and had good equipment. The other patrons and I were all focused on working out. I had a good experience except for the weak minded false approach Planet Fitness uses in its attempt to make everyone feel welcome. The "no judgment" statements and "Lunk alarms" for men who wear stringer muscle shirts or carry a gallon jug of water is hypocrisy of the highest order. The slogan "judgment free zone" was painted on the same wall as a picture of a man wearing a muscle shirt, with a gallon of water labeled "LUNK". This is nothing more than a judgmental, hypocritical, weak minded attempt to make people of various fitness levels feel comfortable in their gym. There are plenty of positive ways to accomplish this objective without resorting to labeling, name calling and shaming people. I didn't think a modern company would ever get away with being so judgmental, petty, mean spirited and sexist in today's America. Sexist- the Stringer shirt rule only applied to male patrons. That is a sexist business practice. In case you were wondering, I wasn't asked to leave. I completed each of my workouts with no negative interactions from staff or the other patrons. I was offended by the writing on the walls that reflect the companies offensive, sexist, judgmental business practices. read more

I called up there to cancel my membership a few months before my contract was up. I was told that the membership renewed in April and that she cancelled the automatic renewal. April came around and I was charged the renewal fee. After calling up there she decided to tell me they only allow cancellations in person and that it was not cancelled. I dissued what the previous person had told me and she stated that when I went through the contract that was mentioned that I had to come in to cancel. How am I supposed to remember a contract from a year ago? So now I'm out $42 because someone on their side told me the wrong thing. I will never be going back even though I was planning to restart my membership when I had more time. I will also not be recommending to anyone. read more

The worst part about this gym is that the front desk can be busy at times, and a line forms for people signing up, cancelling etc and all you need to do is scan your barcode but they have this backwards system where they have to physically scan your barcode with a handheld unit. It's unnecessary. You stand there waiting. This is a $10/mo gym. Gym is well equipped. Staff is nice. It's clean but that front desk needs work. read more

I walked into Planet Fitness to sign a one-year contract. The lady stated it would be $19.00 per month I said fine. Then she stated right before I signed the agreement, "Oh, you will have to pay for a $39.00 annual fee to lock in the monthly rate." I looked at her and ripped the contract in half and then I told her, you are not charging me $19.00, you are charging me $23.24 per month. She was confused and did not understand the math. I arrived and was told that if I wanted to wait 20 minutes for a guy to come off break then I could tour the facility. I said that's fine I just want to walk around and see what equipment you have. I have no complaints except that I really liked the 10 minute ab work-out, and it has been replaced. More free weights would be great as well as more space to stretch. The staff has always been friendly, but I am not crazy about having to wait at the front desk to have my card scanned. The facility is very clean and the monthly membership reasonable. There is free Wi-fi which is awesome. I belonged to the Y before it closed, and although I know PF is not meant to have people hang out, I really miss the opportunity to sit at a table, have a beverage, and use Wi-fi. This is the 3rd gym I've had a membership with within the past 5 years. As a big girl, I'm also conscious of onlookers as I do my workout; trying to better myself. Planet Fitness on Old Fort in Murfreesboro, TN welcomed me with open arms. The facility is spotless, including the bathrooms! The employees are so super nice and even the people attending greet you with a smile and encourage you to keep going. Complete strangers have come up to me and told me to not give up, that I can do it! I love going to the gym now! And as a larger girl, that's saying something! read more
