My girlfriend and mother go to this gym and lately it has been very unsafe. My girlfriend got harassed by a lurking stranger just yesterday and my mom was harassed by a begger directly outside the door (both in the evening). This is the worst gym experience I ever had. I signed up to the top their tier - black card and it was no commitment membership as per contract. Despite that when I decided to cancel they created obstacles and even the cancellation continued to charge my card. Management acknowledged wrong doing but they have "no refund" policy, they also didn't offer any resolution to the problem. Never never never do any business with them. The new PF location on the Post Road in Orange, CT contains half or fewer the quantity of a number of basic strength conditioning machines that its former locarion down the street had. Examples are: Leg press machine - now one, formerly two. Butterfly machine - now one, formerly two Bench presses - now two or three, formerly six Bicep curl machine- now one, formerly three of two typed Triceps machine - now one, formerly two of two types This reduction was apparently intentional and there are no plans to increase these numbers according to two employees I spoke to. read more

I have no problem with the gym, Its the cancellation policy. I have had serious health issues for the last 2 years. I was in and out of hospitals and finally went into kidney failure. I have been trying for 2 yrs to cancel the membership but they refused unless I personally went there to cancel or wrote a letter and sent it certified to them. This is bizarre. Mostly new equipment, clean and you can even tell the employees seem reenergized. I've been to a handful of PF locations in and out of CT and this is by far the most impressive. When I signed up for Planet Fitness, we were told that there "would never be a rise in price and never have an annual fee." Well, in October, I noticed that my card had been charged an additional $20+ for Planet Fitness. I had moved into an apartment building with a gym and hadn't been going to Planet Fitness in a long time. I called to cancel my membership and, of course, you have to come in. I told them that I was never informed that there was a new annual fee. The front desk response? Well, you paid it last year. I guess I hadn't noticed when they AUTOMATICALLY took it out. I asked for a copy of my contract as I wanted to see the language that indicated they may randomly start giving me an annual fee. I had been a member since 2004 and was informed that only the manager could get my contract and he wasn't available. I was told I had to call back to ask him for my contract. Every time I call he's not there and apparently has no voicemail and his staff can't take a message. read more

Planet Fitness - Plenty of parking front and back - Gyms Near Me - Orange, Connecticut

First off, I have no qualms with the employees at PF Orange. They're cordial, friendly, and do their best to keep the premises tidy, despite how inherently dingy the place is. However, PF as a whole is most interested in making money, not helping people exercise or get in shape. I recently attempted to use my own jump rope and stretching band at this location and was informed (politely) by someone at the front desk that I was not allowed to bring in these items and use them. When I asked why, it was for "liability" reasons. Now first off, it's a joke that a place that brands itself a gym or fitness club doesn't even have this equipment. If they had it, I'd simply use theirs, but they didn't, so I acted accordingly. Secondly, it's absurd that this place bars its members from bringing in such basic, lightweight pieces. But again, PF as a whole is a joke. Their two main motives are to: 1. Get lots of people to sign up who don't use the place so they can rake in the dough from automatic billing. They won't even let you use a credit card. They make sure to take money directly from your bank account so they can get their grubby paws on it ASAP without paying the credit card companies. 2. Shield themselves from liability as much as possible by instituting absurd policies that don't allow members to bring in jump ropes and stretching bands so they can actually, you know, exercise and get fit. Sad little fact: People like us who sign up for PF and then actually use our membership are a liability to them. At best, we'll use the place and cause wear and tear on the equipment, hastening the need to maintain and/or replace it. At worst, we'll get injured there and try to sue (even though we basically sign our lives away when we sign their contract and are therefore, unlikely to win a suit). They don't like us. Who they really like are the people who sign up but never go, and continue to get billed month after month after month. Because that's where the profit's at. I canceled my membership the next day and went to a gym down the road that's cheaper, better, allows me to pay by credit card, and (gasp), actually enables me to exercise. Planet Fitness, Orange, CT is a fantastic place and I've been there for over 2 years. The facility is clean, and the equipment and cleaning stations are noticeably well placed. The showers are particularly roomy, clean and always stocked with soap. But most noticeable and important are all the employees who are kind, welcoming and extremely helpful. It is obvious that they work well as a team. While I can't think of 1 bad experience, I would like to recognize Jordyn DiMartino, Dustin Chuecka, Amanda Troop, Kiersten Alchinger and finally, Sean Houley. These folks are particularly friendly, engaging and helpful. Sean is a natural teacher who demonstrates a high level of knowledge. He teaches with an excellent combination of motivating and complementing each of his students. I frequently see him working with multiple people and it is quite impressive how he patiently teaches each, particularly when they're working on different routines. I highly recommend members take advantage of his training, especially since it is available as part of the Black member monthly charge. read more

I've had a PF membership before (north haven) and this location is head and shoulders above. I love everything about it, from the atmosphere, to the always clean, working, and available machines. Our FREE trainer Felicia is the sweetest person ever, she always gets me to push my limits without "gym-timidation". Planet Fitness - Entrance - Gyms Near Me - Orange, Connecticut

Stopped in to this Planet Fitness while visiting family and had a good experience. I had forgotten my key tag at our family's house and the front desk attendant was able to look me up in the system by my key tag number. I am a big circuit training junkie and their circuit was set up nicely. It's cool to try it out while traveling because each location sets it up differently. Aside from the customer service and nice circuit, the locker room was clean and the equipment was mostly new. There were some older machines, but they still do the same job! I'd recommend this location over others in the area if you are ever traveling in this general vicinity. read more

When I walk through the door I'm always greeted by name and with a smile. The equipment is always in good and safe working condition. The staff keep the bathrooms/locker room clean and spotless and are always nothing but friendly. This location even includes tanning and personal training with membership. Best of all, it's never super crowded like my last gym. There's no better value in a gym than this planet fitness. Five stars. read more

A good gym if you're looking for something economical. Lots of equipment but overall the facility is dark and has a damp feel to it. On the plus side I didn't feel like I was being constantly judged like I did at other gyms. And there was no one pushing for me to get a trainer, regardless of whether I needed one or not. read more

Great planet fitness I switched to this gym because the planet fitness at my house in east haven is terrible! Definitely one of the best gyms in the area super clean and nice people work here. The gym members are courteous and rarely do you hear Jersey shore types grunting or people yelling at each other in Spanish which are both problems at east haven's gym. One thing though if you use the mens locker room be prepared for the elderly men who stand naked in there for hours on end. read more

The New Planet Fitness (orange ct) location that is next to the Home Depot..Going into the parking lot is Dangerous if you go in the early hours because there are no lights on in the parking lot and the Home Depot got there rental equipment in some spaces right near where you would turn in to go PF, Inside PF its nice looking (Im Hoping The bathrms stay this clean and nice) But for people who like to use upright bicycles there only 5 bikes and 1 was out of order as of this writing and I asked and no one knows why there are not more bikes, Guess if you like riding the bicycle you should go during the slow hrs to get a bike..It seem every time PF remodels the upright bike number gos down and so does the weights and equipment,If I remember right the old location had 6-8 bikes,In other gyms people want ride or spin on bicycles, but there are 62 treadmills 40 elliptical and 20 arc trainers,and 5 sit down bicycles.But like other reviews said there alot of strength machine and leg machines missing and that's disappointing ! read more

The awful music (Drama Queen music, M&F) is gone, some decent music was in the mix last week. The young girls that blamed the music choice on the Manager I noticed were gone, and some guys were in their place. Now, they are temporarily closed while they move down the block, lets see what music is played THERE. I signed up for a membership, and overall my experience was okay. When I had to cancel my gym membership, because we ended up moving out of state, the staff members made it extremely difficult for me to cancel my membership. I spoke to several different people, and no one gave me the same answer! I was told I can fax a piece of paper to them with my signature, but two of the staff members didn't know the fax number! After 2 weeks of trying to figure out HOW to cancel my membership, I was told I cannot do it over the phone/fax, and that I have to mail in a signed letter. Needless to say, this process has been extremely frustrating, and I will not be signing up for a membership through them again. You get what you pay for! read more

This gym is terrible... Wouldn't even give it one star. Bathrooms smell disgusting I have to hold my breath while I go in. Never see anyone enforcing members to wipe machines after using them. Fans are either broken or the switch is tied closed so u can't turn it on. U died in the summer especially BC they never had the a/c on. The manager is always grumpy. i decided to join about 2 months ago because of the cost and size of location to get bck in shape and have an activity my 14 year old son and i could do together. amazed at the size of location and amount of equipment . never have to wait for a machine or weight bench, sometimes only at peak times. usually 4-8pm. staff is very nice and helpful. only suggestion is that they spray frebreeze in weight room! or install fans like in the treadmill/eliptrical area. for $19.99 i get unlimited visits and can bring a guest every day and unlimited tanning. i think it is a great deal as compared to L.A. FITNESS in orange a $39.99 a month. yes it has a basketball court and pool but for the cost I LOVE PLANET FITNESS ! and will continue there! read more

I have tried to join two or more times. The staff refused a personal check and cash for the $10 special. They indicated that unless I give them a credit card, I would not get the special, and would have to pay full price plus the $39.00 October one time fee..every October. Their specials are very misleading, and have a lot of small print you should read. It is very biased that they will not accept a year paid in full by cash or check!! That makes me wonder why do they need your credit card? I'm told it is also the small print. If you do not put in writting your cancelation, they contiue to charge you even when you are no longer a member..just ask the questions and see what the response is. I have been working out in gyms 3x/wk for over 30 years, I've been at the Orange PF location for years before it even became PF (it was Gold's, World and Premier previously). The price is right and there is all kinds of equipment and up until about 3 months ago I was recommending it wholeheartedly. However, since Glen, the previous manager, left and the gym was sold to other owners, this gym has taken a DRASTIC downhill spiral. They took down the 'no cellphones' signs (although for 4 months the manager has said they were 'on order'). There is constant, loud, cellphone use throughout the gym, often full of expletives and the staff does nothing about it (again, there are no signs), despite complaints from members. There are no staff visible on the gym floor unless they are filling cleaning solution, although there may be up to 4 staff standing around the desk. They are not monitoring the workout floor, or the members, and it is common to find paper towels on the floor and equipment, stacked weights that no one removes and sweat on the seats and floor. There are members doing handstands (literally!) in front of the mirrors, jumping rope in the middle of others workout areas and working in large groups by the weights to the exclusion of other members. This week there were 2 guys that took over the small stretching room to practice boxing! No one else could use the room and there was very loud pounding going on for about 20 minutes which the manager (an unsmiling, unfriendly young woman) was well aware of. Don't get me started on the pizza and bagels!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? That's a great way to sabotage your members! People try to behave all day and come to the gym to be tempted by hot pizza at 5:00. In all the gyms I've belonged to over the years, this is the most ridiculous practice I have EVER heard of, PF should be ashamed of itself! I hope the other PF gyms are functioning better than the Orange location, this one has become a very low class gym in a very short time. As for me, I'm going to check out the two other gym chains in the area. read more
