This gym is one of the best YMCAs I have ever used. It's not shiny and new, nor is it the largest, nor does it have the most equipment. But everything I used was in good working order and well laid out and easy to find and obviously these people care about their patrons. They let me enter without calling my home gym to verify me and I appreciate the trust. Just a really great bunch of people. I even had a long extended conversation with the guy at the front desk about how he used to live in Buffalo on the west side and how it has changed over the years. He hasn't been back in decades. I had just driven from Buffalo that very night. They open up at 4:30 in the morning which is excellent. They have some cute show offy girls working out here, wearing outfits that are against the rules, and that you would not see in my home gym. That was pretty awesome actually. And there are always staff members on the floor who know everybody by name ready to help out. They don't know me by name of course. But maybe they will, after this review. Now I think this gym is great, but I have to go and do something even greater. Or should I say, someone.

I had 45…read morepounds that would not get lost, and I tried everything from A-Z with regard to both diet and exercise. I joined OTF in April 2018, and am I ever glad I did. Not only did I lose the 45 pounds, but at 52 I am stronger and in better health than I have been...well ever. Are the workouts challenging? Yep! BUT, the coaches are great and they show you how to start at your own pace and you naturally get stronger and are able to do more. There are people in class who must be in their upper 70's and people who look like they might be professional athletes, but no one judges you, everyone is supportive, and besides you don't have time to look at what other people are doing! I would NEVER EVER be able to push myself like I do at my classes. My first day I told the coach, "I do not run! If you see me running, you might want to run too, because there must be something chasing me!" Well, I still don't love running, but I have ran 1.7 miles (once) and surprise myself all the time at how great I can run. Then there is also rowing and weight floor exercises and you are constantly switching up what you are doing, and everything is so well planned, before you know it, you have had a GREAT 60 minute workout! Cost? Well, lets just put it this way.. first of all no contracts, so you can stop with 30 days notice. I started out unlimited, and it was $159 per month. That may sound like a lot, but ask yourself, ARE YOU WORTH IT?? It was a splurge for me, but I was worth it! And the payback of being in the best shape of my life, well that is just priceless!! Since I have actually gotten a couple pounds below my lowest goal, I lowered my contract to 2 times per week, at $99/mo, and that keeps me from losing all the muscle and strength I gained. Obviously this was the best decision I have made for myself in a long time and I am super super happy! You HAVE to make time for yourself! If you aren't healthy, or tired all the time, how can you help others? Don't they tell you in an airplane if the oxygen masks come down, put yours on first, and then you can help others? I hope if you are reading this, you give this club a try. I really never thought I could do something like this, but I could, and so can you! Start at your own pace. I feel like most of us are excited about joining a health club, and more often than not, we bypass the understanding that all gyms have yearly fees and cancellation fees; this is completely normal. In my opinion, the highlights of this gym include the space and variety of rooms available to ensure a great workout. They offer 2-3 different machines for the upper, mid, and lower body, which is great! For advanced fitness enthusiasts, this means you won't have to wait to complete your workout routine. For beginners, I highly recommend hiring one of their skilled personal trainers to start your fitness journey the right way. Any day is a good day to practice self-care. So far, one of my favorite machines is the standing hamstring curl; this machine is a gem, and I'm super happy they have it. The gym is clean, the bathrooms are neat, the weights are organized, and they offer spray bottles with towels for you to wipe down the machines after every use. I have yet to try the classes and provide feedback, or the smoothie bar, hydro massage, and sauna. Eventually, I will. This health club has a lot to offer for everyone, no matter what fitness level you are at. I'm glad I started going here, and I'm looking forward to making new friends.

The physical therapy center is attached to the YMCA, which makes it convenient for those that also need to use the pool as part of their regimen or physical Theraphy. However we feel that they could use more exercise equipment and weights. So for the meantime we decided to pass on and continue to search for a gym membership elsewhere.

When we got there we checked in, got a cubby to put our things and got in line to receive all the instructions on how to get started. I later found out this was the owner! I had registered & paid for the class ahead of attending. I was questioned immediately by the owner to "prove it". Though I arrived early as it was my first class I was not allowed to start on-time until I could retrieve the proof of the payment made directly to the gym. The gym owner refused to validate it in their system & instead required me to retrieve my phone to show her the payment made to her directly! Class was absolutely chaotic. I chalked it up to it being a high attendance class that they were not prepared for. I attended another class In Jan. Much to my disappointment it was the same chaotic unorganized & unsafe class. The owner was the instructor, however she was taking her own class & not attending to leading the class. Bizarre & unprofessional. I retrieved a physical gift certificate at the gym for a previous purchase. The balance remaining is $140. The gym owner is now refusing to honor the gift certificate.

I am unable to use the membership due to having a c section and medically unable to work out at this time. When I called about the freeze being lifted without my permission I was told to come in and cancel the membership and this would be taken care of for me because of the medical situation. When I went into the studio to cancel I was told by a staff member the owner was going to be talked to about waiving my final payment, and heard nothing further about it so I assumed it was all cleared up. Then I received text messages threatening me to send this to collections. This level of what many would view as predatory business practice especially to a postpartum woman has been an exceptional turnoff. Sending this to collections would net Cyclebar pennies of the proposed charge. I had high hopes for CycleBar and was planning on using it after my recovery but I can not in good faith use this service nor recommend it to others with the experience I had with staff members and upper management. This is all about making a quick buck to Cyclebar instead of having compassion for a postpartum women and doing what is right in the long term for their gym users. Under no circumstance will I be patronizing a gym with unclear terms, and zero communication skills between staff, management, and their customers. Unlike their more scrupulous competitors - like Orange Theory, which I attended regularly prior to the change in my condition, simply cancelled my membership without any issues or fees.

I began there doing individual personalized training. It allowed me to work with some fantastic trainers over the years that developed high-intensity programs - 20 minutes twice a week - which delivered really powerful results for me - someone who simply did not exercise before. My muscle mass and strength increased significantly. It relieved me of many of the aches and pains I associated before with aging - and I move taller and more confidently now than I did in my mid-life.
