We walked in around 330pm and seemed to be bothering Angel at the front desk- she let out a huge sigh when she had to step away from wiping a cabinet to greet us. We were hoping to get a tour of the gym but we were told that the manager is leaving soon so we wouldn't be able to do a tour and were handed an iPad to sign up and become members. It would've been lovely to be shown where things are and had my questions answered but, clearly Angel wasn't interested in helping us. We left and joined a different gym. read more

I just witnessed an absolutely shocking incident at Planet Fitness, 4848 N. Old Oracle Rd., Tucson, and I cannot recommend this location. On March 8, 2026, around 1-3 AM, I saw a young member being aggressively chased by an employee for what appeared to be a personal issue. The kid had simply scanned his membership card and was walking toward the locker room, minding his own business. The employee immediately approached him in a confrontational manner, followed him through the gym, and even went outside after him. The young man was clearly trying to avoid any confrontation and repeatedly shouted, "Stop! Why are you doing this? I didn't even do anything!" Three other gym members had to step in to de-escalate the situation. During this time, the employee reportedly called 911 and claimed the kid attacked him with a knife, which completely contradicts what I witnessed. From my perspective, the young member was simply trying to use the gym like any paying customer, while the employee escalated a personal conflict into a dangerous situation. The fact that the kid was later reportedly banned is shocking and completely unfair. Planet Fitness employees are supposed to ensure safety and professionalism. Instead, I saw a grown adult use his position to intimidate and chase a scared, polite young member. No one should feel unsafe or chased out of a gym. Management should review security footage immediately and take serious action. I cannot in good conscience recommend this gym. This location clearly failed to protect its members, and it was deeply disturbing to witness. read more

The 30yr old me would never have been seen in any gym (I even ditched PE in HS)... but here I am 30yrs later (and 60lbs lighter) and Planet Fitness on Old Oracle Rd in Tucson is my Happy, HAPPY Place!!! The no-judgement zone was a great safe space to start at, and the diverse range of other guests--from serious fitness types and heathy college-age exercisers to those of us seasoned citizens just staying mobile and giving our bodies the best shot at an active life--keep me motivated and striving to always do better. Thanks to the great team at this Planet Fitness, I can try new equipment and workouts without fear, and with so many stations, I never have to wait to work out. First impressions: Great big gym and honestly was pleasantly surprised on how big the gym was and how friendly staff were as well. Staff: Friendly and no issues there. Cleanliness: Gym was really clean and you could see the staff really putting the work in to take care of the gym. Value: 10 bucks is a great deal honestly. They have a special going on for 25 bucks and it's loaded with features. Call and ask or download the app. Recommendations: Maybe less cardio machines. I love planet Fitness-BUT I wish they would put different channels on the tvs. Out of the 24 tvs, which are lined up all in a row. 5 are on the same channel. So times only 2-3 apart. Another 2 sets of tvs are on the same 3 channels. I have asked them to fix it and they said they woukd, but I've been at this location 4 mo the now and nothing g has changed. When on the treadmill, stair stepper or bicycle it gets really monotonous, I just think it woukd be better with more variety and not all news channels, I can watch that nonsense at home​ read more

I have been going to Rooney Ranch Planet Fitness for years and enjoy it until now. The AC has been broken for 3 wks now. When you walk in you are hit with humidity and heat. After being a member for years, I went in on Monday and when I scanned my card, there was an issue. It seems that my Medicare advantage had a requirement to obtain a special fitness number this year. Not problem. But I asked if I could still workout today and get the information they need after I go home. They said NO. Of course I had already done my daily workout most of January without the special number. And it would not cost them a dime to let me stay to exercise. But when stupud people are hired, you get stupid results. Now that I am complaining, I will keep going. Their marketing mantra has been, NO JUDGEMENT ZONE. I got news for you. Everybody judges. But most never verbalize their judgements. This gym still has signs up in the gym threatening physical violence against people that judge others. It is a worn out marketing scheme. I never have been in ANY gym where a person has been made fun of for coming to exercise. It is kinda like a WOKE business. Rediculous. So I have changed to LA Fitness. The amenities are much better. Also, planetfittness changes to Medicare advantage being a full membership to a limited membership. So their greed is another reason I am leaving and going to a place that includes all Amenities with their medicate memberships. So long buttheads. read more

An update to my scathing review written in May - So, I contacted these people as they requested. The assured me in writing both my and my wife's refunds were made to our checking account. Here it is the end of June and the second refund STILL has not been made. Besides willfully defrauding people, these folks are also liars. We are out of the country at present, but if the second refund that is owed to us is not made by the time we return to Tucson in September, we are headed to court. The workers here are extremely friendly and take cleaning very seriously. This place is always sparkling and I constantly see them cleaning the equipment, bathrooms, even vacuuming and dusting on a regular basis. This location also take the No Intimidation motto seriously. I reported a member who was filming a woman on a treadmill and the staff handled it immediately and discreetly. You can feel safe at this gym - if they see or hear about problematic behavior, they'll take care of it. Planet Fitness as a whole will never compete against power-lifting gyms, so if you're rating based on that, you're missing the point. As a former power lifter who moves around a lot, I'm thankful for a cheap gym with many locations across the country that I'm allowed to access. Sure, I miss more professional gyms, but you can still get a good workout in if you know what you're doing. Many thanks to this staff for keeping this location clean, safe, and welcoming. read more

One of the worst things about this pandemic is...well, my fear of catching Covid (duh). Even after the big box gyms re-opened, for months afterwards I was reluctant to go, even though I'm a decades old gym rat and love nothing more than going to the gym to squat and bench press my way into nirvana. While not all Planet Fitnesses are built equally, this warehouse-like location has a large enough space with huge ceiling fans and two levels of workout space, which make the gym experience less nerve wracking, Covid wise. This, coupled with the Planet Fitness "Crowd Meter" make it easy for anyone with a flexible work schedule to determine the least busy times to go. When the crowd meter was at three or two bars, there were only a dozen other people inside the gym. The people who were working out at this time - anyone ranging from retired seniors to die-hard bulgy muscle weight lifters - were all furiously cleaning the equipment and wearing masks - Even those on the treadmills (impressive!). The gym has opened the showers, though I've never seen anyone use them - and everything is clean and tidy when I go. Every other cardio/weight lifting equipment off limits to ensure social distancing. The only area where it's difficult to social distance is the weightlifting area, where there's a more traffic with people getting/returning barbells and dumbbells. However, the weightlifting benches are also spaced out nicely to ensure more distance between gym goers. Oh - and finally - I was glad to see that during the lockdown Planet Fitness voluntarily suspended all membership fees for the entire time that the gyms were closed. read more

Great usage of the old "JUST FOR FEET" building. The property ownership could get the parking lot redone for this franchise. Cons: The layout interior is a bit cramped. Too many cardio machines in the front! Makes walking behind the machines w people SUPER HAZARDOUS. The weights/rack/Pulley Towers/bench area is super cramped! Like "watch out you may get hit with a arm lifting a dumbbell" ~ maybe get rid of one whole row of machines towards the front? The air flow inside isn't the best and almost nonexistent upstairs. The amount of pet hair all over the floor and machines is disgusting, on the day of this review 07/30/2022 there was three roof leaks being caught by blue buckets out in the open with now warning signs of moisture on the floor..... I signed up for this gym the first to second week of August 2014. So far I've been going about 5 times a week and really enjoy this facility. I was debating between Chuze and Planet Fitness. Their price is pretty much the same. One of largest difference between Chuze and Planet is that Chuze has cardio/aerobics type classes where as Planet offers personal trainers. I went with Planet because they have many many more locations avail nation wide compared to Chuze. Which I'm proud to say this week I took advantage of that and went to two Phoenix locations. This location in particular I can give it 5 stars because it's my home location, and I've come here enough to fairly review it. The staff here is really friendly. They seem to memorize all their clients and already check you in before you walk in the door. At least they try, some of them forget sometimes and have to be reminded of your name or member number. This location never gets super crowded and is always kept clean. I like how clean they keep it actually. I see staff going around cleaning the equipment all the time. I like coming here because it has a good vibe from the staff down to the members. read more

I am new to Tucson and this location, I am not overly impressed by the size of the place but it has what you need to get in a good work out. This location is close to various restaurants just in case you need a pick me up after your workout. Tucson Mall is close by. I have been to a few Planet Fitness with more equipment and weights than this one has but if your a serious lifter try another facility. I was able to work out on many of the equipment without waiting. It wasn't overly loud, clean inside, staff when I visited was friendly. This is the perfect gym for someone with a busy schedule who is looking to stay healthy and active. There's four different types of cardio machines, and an array of free weights and strength machines, with a few Smith Machines as well for squats, chest press, etc. PF gives you 24/7 access, for ten bucks a month. It's a steal. This location is almost never busy and you will rarely have to wait for a machine. The gym is always very clean, the staff greets you every time and is nice in general. This is my preferred Planet Fitness location so far as I really like the upstairs area. There are televisions upstairs along with a crunch/stomach area and I enjoy being up and away from things. The main room is big and cozy and I like the circuit area a lot as it is tucked away to the side. The green/red light make it fun to keep exercising. The aqua jets (4 of them!) and 2 massage chairs are excellent for my achy muscles. read more

This building is extremely water damaged and rife with deadly mold. When it rains you'll see buckets all over the place catching the leaks. I was having severe reactions when I went there, so I stopped going. The plumbing is faulty and leaks too. The shower area reeks of black mold. If you don't want to get severely ill, stay away. They are all individually owned so there's no central customer service. The booking is third party, so they don't care. PF stopped collecting billing after I signed up because Covid. Because everything closed and got the way it did I legit forgot I had a membership. Then they didn't bill. I went broke from all the other no income and bills I had. Then got NSF for this thing out that over and over. I go to investigate, PF. I tried to call them, they weren't open. I've been mostly home and really avoiding the media. Turns out PF is open again. The 3rd party biller says they don't handle this. Diego at the location gave a lot of attitude, in obviously upset PF is and has been trying to collect payment but can't get payment but keep putting me negative and then NSF fees. Diego was kind enough to tell me I can call back and talk to the manager but he won't do anything. And I'm just wondering when I'm going to get a notice about re opening and payment. My experience here has always been great. I usually go late at night, so being 24/7 helps a lot! This isn't the gym for heavy lifters, so keep that in mind. For the average gym go-er this should be enough. They have free weights I think the dumbbells go up to 50lbs, squat racks/machines and ample cardio equipment (treadmills, ellipticals). The staff has always been friendly and accommodating for me while I've been there. Alex at the front desk was very helpful and understanding during one of my most recent trips there. The first and only time I will go to planet fitness, went with a few of my friends because I was visiting from town. And boy oh boy let me tell ya, was not a good environment. I would say I'm a pretty large fella and I saw some kids just looking at me while I was just doing some hammer curls and next to me I saw a few kids taking mirror pics, it just made me feel uncomfortable I had to sound off the lunk alarm I would never go again and it was very packed and I couldn't fit on the small stools they had for the bench, I just think they should have a little bit more equipment. Although I did like the cleaning system, that was the only good thing I liked about the gym. read more

Which was also weird why give a fake name? * Another rude surprise, on the way out of the building was John (from Planet Fitness). He came walking briskly, almost running towards us, and shoved a paper into my hand and said "you are cancelled". Something about not using the machines correctly. Apparently, if an employee does not like you at Planet Fitness you can get cancelled at whim. * When I called the Mgr. to complain, he did not care, and left the cancellation as is. He actually did me a favor, because I immediately went across the street to Chuze which is cheaper, has more amenities including a red light therapy machine, suana, and pool. If you're going to give them business you should know how they treat people. I applied here for work, followed up with them, they couldn't even do me the courtesy of a callback. A few weeks later I run into the (at the time) manager Jim Abrams and he says "Planet Fitness wont hire you, its your age, maybe for overnights but they wont put you at the front counter." True story. I tried to get a hold of the district manager, multiple times, to report this behavior, left messages with every club, never got a call back. I LOVE the Planet Fitness by Tucson Mall. I have been working out there for almost two years. Where else can you get FREE personal training? I honestly hadn't been to a gym in years (YEARS) and was really nervous. I started by signing up for the circuit class and made some friends. After that I was going often and didn't give up! The people who work there and work out there are so nice and supportive. The people who work there actually chipped together to send me a cookie arrangement for after the baby was born! So nice! I was recently pregnant and still going to the gym about 3 times a week. Random people working out would come over to provide encouragement. It was great. For a low cost gym, this place is a must. I used to work at LA Fitness and can attest to the rudeness and entitlement of the staff and the patrons. Not to mention, they are going to try to sell you stuff upon your visit. Who wants to deal with that when showing up to the gym. Isn't showing up hard enough! I can't wait to get back into shape post pregnancy. This is a basic gym. Nothing too special about this place, but it does offer some special amenities that other gyms do not. They offer two types of memberships, a basic membership for $9.99 and a black card membership for $19.99. The basic membership allows you to use all the equipment. The Black card membership (which I have) allows you to bring one guest each time you visit, allows you unlimited hydro-massage bed, massage chair, tanning booth, and body toning room. If you just want to get a good workout, then the basic membership is probably your best bet. IF you want some more relaxation benefits, then go with the Black Card membership. The Basic membership goes on a month to month basis, when the black card is an annual sign up. The place is open 24/7!! So, you can always get a workout no matter the time! They do not have free weights for a bench press. The barbell they have here is a machine barbell with weights you put on. The dumbbells range from 5lbs to 60lbs, no more heavier weights. They have preset curl-bells and straight-bells from i think 10lbs-60lbs -So, if you want to lift heavier weights and become Hulk-like, this probably isn't your best place to do it. Only downside to this location would be that it is relatively small compared to LA Fitness. If you go during the wrong time, there will be PLENTY of people around the gym. The equipment is not spaced perfectly, so it may feel a little cramped at times. This gym does not have a pool/spa or sauna as LA Fitness offers. However, LA Fitness does charge more for their membership fee(s). The employees here are great! You will most likely always see someone cleaning the equipment. They are friendly, if you frequent there enough, they will remember your name. Great place, great people! Oh, this gym is literally filed with purple and yellow equipment, so if you're not a fan of those colors, you might not enjoy working out here or if the color displeases you that much, it may motivate you to workout faster, so you can leave :) read more

About a year and a half ago they put in new elliptical machines, they function well however I can no longer use my Polar heartrate monitor and the signal quality from the TV's are very poor. They have recieved many complaints but nothing has been done. Due to this change I have been going less and I am thinking of quitting and going somewhere else. I have been going to this gym for a couple weeks now and so far I am enjoying it. The machines are all new and you can hook your headphones in to the cardio machine itself to hear what's going on on the televisions. I have never seen that before! The woman we spoke to initially was really friendly and helpful and gave us great customer service. The only draw back is when we came in the next day to sign up the guy was less than friendly. But it's a great gym. Everyone there is if different shapes, sizes, fitness levels, age...everything...so I always feel really comfortable working out; you know, when I don't look my cutest. They also have mottos all over the walls saying basically the same thing: no judging and you belong. read more
