I recently had surgery and needed special accommodations to work out and shower. I love this location because it is clean and everyone is usually kind and helpful. However. I have seen Bobby more than anyone else. He is consistently friendly, kind, supportive, communicative, a hard worker, goes above and beyond to make sure I am safe, he fills in constantly for others that work there, willing to take the time to make sure I am on the appropriate machine. The new equipment they're buying is not as good as the older equipment and breaks much easier. "Fancier" does not mean higher quality. They finally got more stair masters but are still in desperate need of more cable towers and leg extensions... plus, many more weight machines. Also majority of the tvs are news and majority of those are Fox news. People go to the gym to unwind, workout and many to destress from the day. I've asked multiple times for them to change a few, as have manyyyyy gym goers, to turn the tvs to anything else than depressing insane news forced upon us but they say no. Legit anything, game channels, more sports, movie channels, hgtv, or anything else neutral than things causing more stress. People should be able to control when they take in the news. Many people hate it I even know people who switched gyms. Overall its a clean gym with great mix of people working out so no judgement and welcoming. Staff is friendly but the gym really needs more equipment that works, not the new crap that falls apart or is out of service constantly. Also change the tv channels and listen to the paying customers. More cable towers and more leg extension machines are really needed. read more

It be great to have had a choice by keeping some of the older machines that were very popular. They lack options and diversity of equipment making it a very limiting gym. I went in to the Westminster CO location today to join. Kaitlyn was behind the desk. She completely ignored me for about five minutes and then turned and said hi. I said I wanted to look into joining. She pulled up the plans and told me to read them. After, I was like, "so, um, do I just walk around and see what you have?" She said yep and turned back around to do whatever she was doing when I came in. I then asked her name and left. She was very uninterested in me as a client. I'm here pretty much 2-5 times a week, and I really like it. I had to get used to it at first, as I'm not usually a gym person, but it's become a really great place to workout for me. I started because i was trying to keep in shape after a running injury that landed me in a walking boot, and was told stationary bikes were the only thing i was allowed to do per doctor's orders. It was great to keep myself going. It's kept pretty clean, although recently they switched from paper towels to reusable cloths, and although i love and care for the environment, it still grosses me out, and there IS still a pandemic going on. The bathrooms are nice though. I have a black card, so I try to make use of it. I actually really love the massage chairs. There are definitely some creeps here and there, but I don't think I've ever been to a gym without spotting a couple. Overall, I'm glad I go here, and have been trying to convince a couple friends to start joining me. read more

I'm not the type of person to post bad reviews often, but I have never experienced worse customer service from a gym in my entire life & I'm a professional fitness trainer & business owner who has multiple gym memberships across the country. I signed up here 5 years ago and when I tried to cancel my account after moving they said I had to send a letter in the mail to cancel the account... so I did.. TWICE! My account was never canceled and I continued to be charged for 3 full months and my annual fee because they "never received the letter" even though my tracking information from the post office says both letters were delivered weeks ago! When I offered to send them proof of delivery, so I could be reimbursed for the charges, the facility manager simply said "sorry there's nothing we can do because we didn't see the letter". This may be the most awesome gym in the history of the world! 1) Hella Cheap! $10/month gets you unlimited gym access. $20/month gets you gym access, unlimited tanning, guest passes & electronic massage chair sessions. 2) No pressure. They are NOT 24hr Fitness. You know you've been there. You walk into 24 for the free trial, only to be told that if you take the free trial without signing up for a year today, that you will have to pay twice as much after the free trial. That is NOT this place. The nice sales guy walked me around, asked what I was interested in, asked about other gyms I'd gone to and actually recommend the cheaper, no commitment package. 3) No Meatheads!!! In fact, they have an alarm on the wall for a-holes that drop weights or grunt a lot. This is a gym, not a pick-up bar. No need to impress anyone here. If you are a meathead, go to 24. 4) The facilities are clean, nice, well kept, and they have a bank of tvs over the cardio machines where you can plug in your headphones to the actual machine and pick the # of the tv you want to hear. This place is truly a find. It's the well-kept secret that's not so secret anymore now that I've posted this ;-P But, if you're sick of the usual gym scene, check this place out. I come here every day to shower. I work overtime for the hospitals. Today I was harassed for "not wearing a mask," even though I had my towel wrapped around my nose and mouth. I walked past the obnoxious woman behind the counter and proceeded with my shower. When I was finished I was told my membership would be revoked if I didn't wear a mask. I explained to the woman I get naked in her establishment and asked her if my face was covered right now sarcastically. Not only is this disgusting behavior from anyone, but it's 3 days from Christmas. I didn't catch the employee's name, but this is unacceptable. I've been coming here for months. read more

I was in Westminster on business for a week and a half and needed a gym to work out at. I used the free trial pass for a week and then asked for four more days on the trial. The nice folks at the front counter did not blink an eye an told me I was welcome to come in the rest of my time in town. I was super impressed by this gesture - that's just good business! I Recently switched my workout routine from Lakewood to this Westminster location. Holyyyyy Hell this is a much nicer location, sports fans!! This place makes many of the other locations look like a dumps. Lots of newer equipment and it never seems to be to busy at peak times. I'm on renew active, which is a senior citizen program through my health insurance. I've been going as a guest under my husband's membership until I turned 65 and was eligible for membership. I am now 65 and tried to get my own membership. I asked for help with this when we first moved to Westminster 3 months ago but was told to do it online instead. I tried and was unable to do so. I can't even get them to email me my user name and/or password after 3 attempts. I went again recently and was told to transfer my membership. Again, I was told to go online myself and they can't help me there. I did go to planet fitness site as instructed and tried to transfer it again. Again, it wasn't helpful at all but they did say to go to my local planet fitness and they would help me there. Unfortunately, I'm met with rudeness and no help whatsoever by the management. I'm told to get ahold of the planet fitness in the previous state I lived in so they can transfer it. I do not understand why this is so difficult. In addition, this is the worst planet fitness I've ever been to. They don't maintain their machines very well. They're either out of order, the pins don't work or the vinyl is torn. The cleanliness there is hit or miss. Looks like we'll be going to the rec center to work out. read more

I joined this location through their free high school membership this summer, yet I have been billed over $100 since June 17th. I have gone into the location and tried to talk to a manager specifically about the billing mistakes 6 times throughout the summer. 5/6 times there was no manager at the location, and the employees at the front desk would try to call him and he would not answer. I saw the employees leave him notes yet nothing was ever done to help me. The one time there was a manager, he was horribly condescending and rude to me. He could not even find a contract for a paid membership in my account, yet kept telling me I "must have signed up for a paid membership and forgotten" which I know I did not do. He took my name, number, and email and said he would get back to me as well as giving me his business card. Yet when I call, he has not answered once, nor has he contacted me since. The front desk employees are very kind and understanding, they always truly do want to help but they say they do not have the authorization. Went with my best friend the last two days and had the best time ever. I haven't gone to a gym in over two years and I need to lose weight.. I hated the idea of getting my ass off the couch and being uncomfortable and sweaty.. I'm glad we went to this gym. It's not crowded, it's really nice! All the equipment has illustrations to show newbies like me how to use it. I've been really sore but we had such a good time I can't wait to go back. I have been attending this gym for the past four years, and I can confidently say that this is by far one of my favorite places to go for a workout. This location has a staff that is always friendly and is always willing to be able to assist you if you need helpful tips for a workout, or simply someone to spot you during your arm and shoulder days. Although they do not have every piece of equipment in the world, they have the equipment that you need to get the work done. Also, the price is simply unbeatable. read more

Did not have a good experience here. Two staff people up front, not at all helpful in trying to sign up for free trial. Said, "oh you have to do everything on your phone." Which might be fine, except I don't have good cell service. And I have no doubt that they have the ability to help us or at least walk us through signing up but did not offer any help. We finally got the scan for our trial which specified that we were required to have a tour of the facility. My husband asked for a tour. The gal said, "you don't need a tour." He asked again saying that he would like a tour. She just kept repeating herself, that we didn't need a tour. Obviously, the front desk staff could absolutely care less about selling memberships. We just left. If you can't be helpful the first time someone walks in the door, I'm doubtful that you would ever be helpful. read more

I took a tour of Planet Fitness with my husband yesterday and talked to one of their staff about the classes. She walked us through, gave us the paperwork and told us the deal, which had already expired according to the paperwork, was still good so ignore the expiration. Today (less than 24 hours later) we came back to sign up and the prices had skyrocketed! Not only did the startup fee go from $10 to $50 per person literally overnight but the $10/month membership was now a 12-month requirement, rather than no commitment as the gym had promised yesterday and on our paperwork. When we explained that we came in yesterday and were offered a no-commitment $10/month membership the employee replied: "I guess things change." I'm furious at the customer service we received and the shady advertising that promises no commitments when you have to actually sign up for a whole year! I really like the new (in the past year) location and the A/C is much better. The equipment and bathrooms are much cleaner. Staff is friendly and greets me each time. I see many regulars, with a good mix of different types of people, so anyone could be comfortable here. Nobody bothers anyone else, it's pretty laid back and peaceful. Oh boy, this is a change. I certainly never thought I'd give a gym 5 stars, but I can't help myself, I have to! Along with everyone else in the country, I'm on a health kick for the new year, and as part of that, I've joined Planet Fitness. I've belonged to and frequented quite a few other gyms in years past, and thought that perhaps my gym going days were done. After all, we live in a beautiful place where the sun shines brightly on quite a few days, so who needs a gym? Well, I guess I do, because I've realized that when it gets cold like it has been the past few weeks, I turn into a sloth. Anyhoo, after reading the positive reviews on Yelp, I joined online sight unseen. I stopped in the next day to pick up my membership card and free t-shirt. And sheesh, they aren't kidding - no pressure, no judgement. It's awesome. The most recent gym I belonged to here in CO was awful with pressure to buy personal training sessions. If you decline, it's like the trainers would stalk you on the treadmills. Not here - it's exactly what I want. I can walk in, workout and no one bothers me. Like others have mentioned, it's pretty basic, there are no meatheads or intimidating gym-goes. It's clean, the staff is friendly and even at 5 pm on Monday afternoon during the first week of January, it's pretty easy to get an elliptical or a treadmill. And did I mention how unbelievably cheap it is? $10 to start and $10 a month for a month to month membership. You can also upgrade to the membership with unlimited tanning for $20. This place definitely exceeded my expectations!! read more

1 star because there's nowhere to stretch out before or after excercise. Stretching is AS important as the exercises and routines themselves, if not more important. It makes both me and other guests uncomfortaable when i cant find anywhere to stretch and have to do it next to another machine and user because theres not a designated area for stretching. There's an "area" that they told me to use but its ALWAYS being used for free weights and is also occupied by machines, leaving inadequate space for anyone to stretch and/or use the machines. When i asked them where to stretch they said "wherever you can find space". Not a professional or holistic approach to whole body health. 5 stars for the cost. Good job guys. New machines, work well. Well cared for by staff and members alike. Members are a great crowd. I always feel safe. Front desk personell are friendly. 4 stars for overall cleanliness. But in the bathroom, my feet shouldn't create brown mucky puddles when i get out of the shower. They must mop the entire bathroom with the same grungy mop that cleans up after all the dirty snowy mess thats tracked in. Theres no pressure to get a trainer, which is nice. But i feel there is a general lack of thought given to the whole approach of the fitness space. I know its a zero pressure "no gymtimidation" place. But take out 4 of the treadmills/elipticals, since at no time are they ever ALL taken, and put some thought into the full fitness approach so your customers dont get injured and can work out longer and harder with proper warm up and cool down. I feel gymtimidated when i cant comfortably stretch in a fitness facility. 3 stars for the bathrooms. The showers have little-to-zero water pressure so it takes longer to get soap and shampoo off. Maybe this is partly due to the current construction. No soaps provided. No towels (as to be expected for the cost). There are cheap hair dryers. Because stretching is an important part of my fitness routine, i doubt i will continue my membership here...unless they change their space. read more

Ok.....I held off as long as I could, but I can't take it anymore. I've been coming to this gym for close to 4 years now. Recently, it's gone through a major renovation and a change in management. That should all be for the best, right? Wrong. I kept waiting for them to "work the bugs out" but apparently, that's not happening. I would have given this location 5 stars.....before the renovation, but since the renovation: - Staff is unfriendly. No hello/goodbye. The old staff knew your name and would take the time to talk to you....nothing special, just small talk (if you wanted to). Now it's just check in/check out. You're a number. The evening staff on weekdays is the worst. - The place is HOT inside. You remodeled. How did the A/C stop working? It's so hot inside.....even on mild days outside that it's nearly unbearable to get a workout in. When it's cooler outside than inside on a warm day, that's a problem. Yes, I like getting a good sweat, but not the minute I walk through the door. - WiFi does not work reliably. Most of the time, I can't connect. I've tried multiple devices. The manager blamed Comcast and said they're working to fix it. Really? It worked fine before. No timetable for when it will be fixed. Meanwhile, I'm just wasting my data here. - Men's Restroom is always a mess. Toilets are almost always clogged. Sink area is disgusting. I don't think anyone checks this regularly. On two occasions, the toilet has overflowed and no one is cleaning it up. I worked out for an hour and it was still flooded when I was done. Gross. That said, I like the new temp lockers and the machines are nice and in good condition. They did add some nice features. The new tanning beds are awesome. All of this came at a great price though......overall experience. I hope they get it together and fix this. I'm finding myself enjoying my time at the location on 72nd and Sheridan more lately, but that staff is even ruder than this one. Please PF!!!!! Bring back the good old days to mesh with the new remodel. I won't recommend this place to anyone until you do. In fact, if it wasn't so close to home, I'd probably stop coming here altogether. read more

I'm visiting Colorado for the summer. I visited this gym for the first time today. The staff was very friendly and made it simple for me to switch my home club membership for the summer, allowing unlimited visits. The gym and the locker room are spacious, well equipped, clean and uncrowded. It also has a better stretching area than any other Planet Fitness I've used. Excellent gym for cardio, weights and stretching. And the price is right. read more

I'm going the other direction with this place. It is still a value at 10 bucks a month. However, they've had a change in management and its corporate policy has gotten way out of hand. You feel like you are judged by being in shape. They offer pizza and candy on certain nights of the week. Wtf? I absolutely, despise their lunk alarm. What is that? Its an alarm that goes off if you (OMG) set your weights down a little to hard. Really, it's WAY over the top. They claim to be a NO judgment establishment, but that is definitely not the case. I have been a member here for about 6 years. It has been remodeled and the upgrades are wonderful. It is now open 24 hours which is a big plus as well. I absolutely LOVE the Hydro Chair. It is like a 10 minute massage. They have all new machines too. I ran into an employee today that was extremely attentive and super friendly. Eric seems to truly enjoy his job and chatting with the members. It is refreshing to run into people like that. Kudos to Eric! read more

If you are thinking about joining Planet Fitness, DON'T make this location your "home gym". Even if you get the Black Card membership that allows you to go to other PF gyms, you only get 10 visits to those PF locations before they throw you out. And, it will take you 90 days before you can transfer your "home gym" to a different location. Issues with this PF location: 1. This place is freaking HOT! I want to sweat when I workout, but this place doesn't seem to have any AC at all. I start to sweat as soon as I walk in. They finally put a small floor fan in by the treadmill area, but if you are more than a foot away from it, it doesn't make any difference at all so I'm not sure what they hoped to accomplish with this $20 "solution". 2. There is NO stretching area what-so-ever. I have never worked out a gym before in my life that had no stretching area. You have to do your stretching between the exercise machines, getting in everyone else's way. 3. The staff aren't all that friendly. I've been to every other PF location in the Denver area and the staff always greet me with a "good morning" and tell me to "have a great day" when I leave. At this location, the staff pretty much just ignore the clients and spend most of the time huddled together around the front desk chatting with each other. 4. The gym is small. It's the smallest PF location in the Denver area and probably the smallest gym that I've ever been to in my life. If one person is monopolizing the cable cross-overs, then you are SOL that day since there is only one set of them. There are only 3 bench presses. There is no hammer press. If I am needing to do a chest workout, I normally just head to the PF location on 72nd street where they have plenty of the machines that I need. 5. The men's locker room always stinks. It smells like someone is taking a crap in there 24/7. I guess this might have something to do with the low air flow / no AC throughout the whole gym. The locker room is clean, it just smells really bad. 6. This gym is located right next door to some bar/nightclub/I don't know what the heck it is. I'm not even sure if it has a name. All the windows are covered up with alcohol advertising signs. If I try to work out at this PF after about 8pm, there's always a ton of drunk people stumbling into that place and throughout the parking lot. I don't feel real safe about parking my car there for any length of time so I try to avoid working out late. read more

Member here for 2+ years. Recently management changed for the negative. Started remodeling construction around Thanksgiving. No notification to members. Construction is and has been done during business hours. Wallboard dust everywhere. High lifts being used while patrons are walking underneath. Men's locker room looks like a bomb exploded and the floor is filthy. Power cords strung across walkways. Fire alarm triggered and continued for 11 minutes. Manager never spoke with patrons letting them know what was happening. Fire department came and I had to ask them what was happening. When I spoke with the manager about working out in a construction zone, I got ........."most people just deal with it"......... Called corporate and ...........no love. Horrible manager. read more

I prodded myself finally during my copious spare time this weekend (sarcasm, ah :) to finally get my butt in gear and start putting in some time at the gym. I'm eating somewhat healthier in 2010 (still working on cutting down amount), now time to start re-awakening all those muscles that went "slump" when I stopped outdoor biking in late October. I haven't set foot inside this place yet to do a workout, only gave myself a tour and talked 10-15 mins with a front desk person. How, then, could I possibly give this place 5 stars? Well, 3 stars are for the fairly basic, yet well-maintained, gym and equipment -- nothing is worn out, nothing has sweat dripping off it, everything looks great for an everyday-kinda-guy like myself. I went on a Sunday afternoon. There was no outstanding "eye candy" around (of and for either gender), everyone I saw looked like the everyday average person just trying to get a good workout in. One of the mottos here is that PF is a "judgment-free" zone. That ought to reassure anyone who walks into a gym with ego or self-esteem issues and thinks everyone is eyeballing them (either because they're too "all that" or "a little fat"). They have a full complement of free weights, weight machines, and multple banks of treadmills, elliptical machines and exer-bikes -- and TVs al tuned to multiple channels. Supposedly you can even hook into a machine, punch up a TV code and listen to it via headphones. That's kinda neat. The men's locker room was pretty basic but clean and functional, lots of lockers. Cool. Moderate volume upbeat music was being pushed over the speakers through the club, but it's something you can easily tune out via the TV that you can tune into or any portable music player you have. There are a number of trainer-guided fitness courses that people can take...M/T ones are in the mornings, W/Th ones are in the afternoons, and I forget about Fridays, think they are also in the mornings. So it's not like this place doesn't have any extras. The only vaguely interesting thing about this place is the banana yellow/maroon-purple color scheme they have. I guess every place needs their corporate method of standing out -- this is PF's. The previous 2 paragraphs make up for 1 star out of this 5-star rating. To come full circle finally, the reason for the 5th star is 2-fold: the "bang for the buck" factor and the "you can resign at any time" factor. There are 2 levels of membership here: the $20/month gives you full-tilt access, with access to tanning booths (UV-A), massage chairs, half-price cooler drinks, and so on. Not sure? Just starting up? Want to give things a test run? No problem. *$10/month* is all it costs you for this gym and use of every fitness piece of equipment. Membership fee? *ONE DOLLAH*. That's right. Not $27/month and $300-500 like it cost me at 24 Hr Gougeness a few years ago [and like Bally's memberships as well]. Want out? No harm no foul - not like at some other money-leeching oversized branded gym chain. *If you stay, you get hit with a $29 membership fee on Oct 29th every year* -- still a FAR cry from what most corporate chains or upper-scale snooty-snoo gyms charge. You aren't paying the entire staff's salary. You aren't paying a lot if you don't go to the gym. *You aren't paying.* (Not like you do at other places.) Got that concept? And just to make it sweeter, they toss you a free t-shirt which I am sure pretty much makes your first month of membership close to a net total of *free*. So it looks like 21st century gym memberships fall into 4 classes: 1) the "ultra-elite/upper crust" gyms like Flatirons Athletic Club with every amenity known to man on the planet [and the costs to go with it], 2) the "specialty" ones that focus on kick-boxing, wall-climbing, trainer-led organizations that again, come at a fairly premium price, 3) the soulless corporate monstrosities that most of us associate with gyms (Ballys, 24Hr, Anytime Fitness, etc) that try and suck your savings dry draining as many extras out of you as they can (including additional charges for classes at times)...and 4) the gyms that have a slightly above basic level of equipment available but that you don't pay the limbs that you're working hard to maintain/develop back in fees (get it, like an arm and a leg...)...gyms like Planet Fitness. #3 better watch out...there's a new breed of leaner, more affordable and probably "meaner" gym racing to catch up to and overtake them, jaws open and slavering with saliva, nipping at their heels right behind them. read more
