I have liked going into Planet until the last couple of visits. There is a guy there who has 3-4 inches of curly hair on the top of his head that he shakes occasionally and itches with his fingers- OVER FOOD! And then finishes making the product and serves it to customers. Doesn't even wash his hands - let alone how unhygenic it is to shake and itch hair! I don't think I can stomach eating there again, unless he's wearing a hair net. read more

Stopped in and had dinner - ordered a Gyro special which included a small soup and beverage. The potato soup was very flavorful but not hot. The gyro was ok-have had better in Missoula and elsewhere in travels. The gyro had too many veggies which buried the meat, the tzaziki sauce was granular, and there was not enough meat on the pita despite ordering the 6oz. option. I love Gyros, and was so happy to find this little place. It's a bit out of the way, but worth it. The food is so fresh and delicious,and the staff is always courteous and fast. I'm dumbfounded as to how this establishment has positive reviews. If you have eaten quality Mediterranean Mediterranean food, then it should be obvious this is a poor imitation. My gyro was bad. The meat was refrigerator-cold and tasted awful, the pita bread itself was not grilled, let alone warmed up, and the tzatziki sauce flavor was off. It all combined for one of the least appetizing gyros I've ever ordered. Planet gyro is a poor imitation of Mediterranean cuisine. What a great gyro place! You have to try the Zeus with double everything! But I give them four stars instead of five only because I wish they had lamb anywhere on their menu. A gyro should be lamb, but they do a great job spicing the beef they use to taste a bit like lamb. My wife has also gotten a chicken gyro which was also great! Disappointing is the only way I can explain it. Me and boyfriend got beef gyros and cajun gyros. They charged extra for cheese which threw me off right away. The beef was a sad wanna be of lamb and reminded me of cheap balogni. It didn't have much flavor and I had to heavily salted to taste anything. The cajun one tasted like someone spilled Tapatio sauce on it. And strangely they gave us plastic cups instead of paper which is rare at a quick sit restaurant ... Shows they might be trying to cut corners to lower costs and made me uncomfortable. Other than that the service was good and maybe there were some better things on the menu that I missed. We were tourists passing through and the bagel place and Mexican restaurant close bye looked more promising. read more

When I started working next door to planet gyro I was convinced I hated gyros and would never eat one. One of my coworkers was eating one and had me take a bite. Instantly fell in LOVE! I stopped by here on my way through Helena because I had tried Pita Pit the day before and read that this place was "WAY better" and also had wifi. And I really really wanted to like this place because I LOVE gyros and this was our last meal in town. Sadly, I felt deceived! I really don't understand how this place has so many 5 star reviews?!?! I'm giving it 2 stars because 1) I understand that it's a small local business and they were nice enough to provide free wifi and 2) It's nicely decorated and the young kids working there deserve a star. That being said, I really didn't like anything about their food... 1) They make it a huge deal that it's pronounced "iee-ro" and not "Jai-ro". ~seriously? I used to frequent one of the most authentic underground Greek restaurants in NYC and they still say "Jai-ro" to the non-Greek customers because the actual pronunciation of "Gyro" is not an easy task... and it's NOT whatever the kid was saying back to me when I ordered. 2) How is this the planet of the gryos when there is no LAMB? When I realized this I wanted to leave but my friend was hungry and needed wifi. So again, thanks for the wifi, but I was really pissed at that point. 3) I don't know why numerous reviews said this was inexpensive because for $7+ dollars in Montana I expected a much bigger portion (Pita Pit was good with portion). I had the beef and it was really salty and greasy and at that point I really missed NY. 4) I heard Huckleberry was the cool thing in Montana and wanted some berry froyo but they didn't have that so I got the chocolate... didn't taste good. But since it's not called "Planet Froyo" I'm not taking a star off for that. 5) I wanted to get the soup but saw some lady order one and the cup was literally the size of my fist. Um, we are in a strip mall in Montana, right? And I'm pretty sure the soup was not made by a professional master chef. I just drank the rest of my melted froyo instead. 6) My friend tried my food and was so grossed out that he just got a drink for himself. They were nice in that they let him sit there without ordering food so I'm not going to include what my friend said about the food here. Again, I was really excited about this place, but had to leave with an unhappy friend and an unhappy stomach. To the people of Helena, MT: You have NO IDEA what you're missing! read more

Decent gyros, but not outstanding. WAY better than Pita Pit, though, and not a chain. The counterman was friendly and accommodating, and the food came out quickly. The pita bread was also far better than at the Pit (Pit pita is unpleasantly... un-pita-ish. I can't really come up with a better descriptor), and the toppings and meat were piled on. Tsasiki sauce was "ranchy" and not traditional. Not great, not terrible. Staff were knowledgeable, they knew the ratios of the meats. And everything arrived just as described. Won't go again as it did not really satisfy my craving for a gyro. Would also have liked fries, but they have no fryer and only offer chips. read more
