Car was towed to this location. They lost the key to the vehicle. I have been up there 4 times and keep getting the run around. I was told at first they were NOT going to cut me a new key until I called customer service and they acknowledged that since they lost the key they would cover cost of a new one. When I told my service provider this he said that was inaccurate and asked who I spoke to. I provided a name. I asked to speak to a manager on several occasions and Jesus would not get me one until my octave went up due to the run around I was receiving. I finally got to speak to the manager 8/8/26 and I am still without my vehicle or a key. I was told by the manager he would cover cost and get key made asap. It's now 9/9 and I still do not have my car nor a key made. They keep telling me it's a delay with inventory shipment. How long does it take for a damn key to be cut? I informed them I would send a tech out myself to cut the key and they refused to allow me to send someone up there. Each time I went. The manager was always in a "meeting" and could not talk to me. When I got there not only did they run my credit but they also told me that I would need $2500 down payment. Planet Kia did a botched oil change on my Kia vehicle, and only partially reimbursed me of the expenses when I had to pay to have my car towed a few days later from an oil leak on their part. My car was completely out of oil and inoperable due to their negligence, leaving oil spilled everywhere in multiple locations, at no fault of my own. I then had to return to this dealership to check for engine damage. After numerous attempts to followup with the GM of this dealership for the remainder of my cost reimbursement, I have no choice but to be honest with my poor experience. First he stated, the Welcoming Call didn't go through(which she had reference number for)... then changed it ...and said, it was a Conditional Delivery (YoYo Sale/Spot- meaning you can drive off car lot before bank approval). I am deeply disheartened by my experience with service from Planet Kia Charlotte. Summary: it is evident that the general manager, Nathaniel King, and owner, Helmi Felfel, do not stand behind the service they provide to vehicles. They rely on uneducated consumers and will fully try to take advantage of you by cutting corners and not following through on commitments. I've filed a BBB complaint based on my experience with this business. Planet Kia Charlotte performed negligent service on my vehicle resulting in a major oil leak and permanent damage to my engine. I had to jump through hoops to get in contact with anyone from the dealership to make this right. I held a meeting with Nathaniel King, the GM, and Marco, the previous service director, where they agreed to replace my engine due to the damage caused by their negligence. For two weeks, I didn't receive any updates from the dealership. I finally got in contact with Nathaniel King, and he stated that Helmi, the owner, is refusing to replace the engine and will only offer a third party warranty (which is - by the way - backed by Helmi giving him the right to approve/deny claims - funny, right? Almost seems like a scam to "pretend" to make this right with no actual intention of meaningfully resolving the issue they caused... hmm!). This warranty does not restore my vehicle to its pre-service condition. I have followed up with an official demand for a new engine and have not heard back from Helmi or Nathaniel. I have always taken my vehicle to a Kia dealership for service because of the enhanced level of trust and have been a regular customer of Planet Kia Charlotte over the past few years. Planet Kia Charlotte has destroyed that trust. I do not recommend letting this business touch your vehicle, and if you've had service or repairs done here, I would recommend getting your vehicle inspected by a different shop. I do not recommend doing any type of business with an owner and GM that operate in such a shady manner. I will, of course, update my review if the GM and owner make this right. read more

I was able to find a picture of my car with my mirror in tact this past Friday- it was a screenshot from a video. I was told by Brandon to email him the picture and video and explain what happened which I completed yesterday evening, as it would have to go through "higher ups". I haven't heard back yet. If I end up compensated or with a replaced mirror I will adjust this review, but until then they left me with the impression that they believe I am lying. So I live in Raliegh NC, I only went to Charlotte because my cousin and her husband and my aunt all bought cars from them and they recommended me to go there. Well I took the train because I didn't have any other way to Charlotte. 3 hours and an Uber later I was at good old planet Kia getting the car I had been looking at for a while. Ravon the guy who sold me my car needs more training, I understand he came in on his day off to ensure the sale however he was all over the place he keep leaving all my information at the sales counter, he walked away with my ID and passport and forgot to give it all back to me until his manager got on about leavening customer things around. After signing the paperwork and driving off the lot the second day of having my car I get a call from the finance company saying they need to verify my information because they had not received any of it from the dealership. Not only that I get another phone call a week after and Ravon is telling me I needed to return the car because they made a bad deal!!!! (" hey mister black I'm sorry to tell you this but yeah we need you to return the car, I guess nobody wanted to call and tell you so there making me do it but we need you to return the car man") so I asked to speak to the finance manager and she didn't understand what he was talking about because everything on their end was good. So then I asked to speak to the general manager only to find out that they had not done the PID inspection on the car before they sold it to me and wanted me to drive 3 hours back to Charlotte for an inspection that they swore I couldn't get done anywhere else. The only thing they offered me was a tank of gas after telling me to make sure it's empty so they can fill it up. 1) I put gas in my car and drive 3 hours to get an inspection done because you all failed to do it beforehand. 2) you do the inspection and ask to speak to me about my original review and ask me to change it after you find out what happened. 3) you didn't offer to fill my tank after we spoke I had to remind you. 4) I wasn't compensated for my time, that was and totally of a 6 hour drive and all you gave me was 40 dollars in gas. What about the 40 dollars I spent to come there and the 40 dollars I have to put in when I get back so I can go to work the rest of the week. They think offering me a free car wash was enough HA please your washing everyone's car that was in that place so you not giving me nothing . On 9/22/25 I visited Planet Kia in search of a car that I saw online. This car was a 2022 Ford Explorer (from their used car selection). I test drove the car with no issues. The experience was great with the employees that day. However, on 9/23, the day after purchasing the car, the "Restraints Indicator Lamp Warning" came on. In the warning, it states to not have anyone sit in the front passenger seat until this was fixed. This happened numerous times a day. I called and set up an appointment. I brought the car in and the service desk said they could not do anything with it being a Ford. However, I purchased the car from here (on the Carfax it said this car was purchased by Planet Kia at an auction). On 10/8 I brought my car back and one of the men from the sales floor said my car would be sent to a Ford dealership to fix the problem. After my car was in the shop from October 8-22, I was told the light never came on, they didn't know what I was talking about and the "problem" was fixed by being recalibrated. On 10/22, as soon as I turned the car on to take it home, I didn't dive it anywhere, the warning light was immediately on. I was told to leave it with them again and this time they would ACTUALLY take it to a Ford dealership. That day, 10/22, I left my car there again (it is still there now on 11/3). I received a call this morning telling me my car was ready to pick up today. When asked what was done, I was told by Marco it was recalibrated. Same thing I was told on 1/22. My car is not safe to drive as this light is steadily coming on and Planet Kia is not fixing this serious safety issue. They are responsible for this as they were the ones who purchased this car from an auction. While they did put me in a lease, it is not the car I purchased nor is it big enough. Brought my Kia in to have a recall checked because my AC wasn't working well. Turns out my car wasn't part of the recall, but instead of just telling me that, they handed me a list of recommended repairs totaling over $1,800--including a cabin air filter I knew I could replace myself for a fraction of the price. I declined. Funny enough, the moment I drove off, I suddenly had a new issue: a loud rattling sound coming from the glove box when the HVAC was on. Took it back, and the technician (who either couldn't hear it or just didn't want to) told me not to worry, it would go away once I replaced the filter. Spoiler alert: it didn't. Called back again, and finally someone acknowledged it. Apparently, when they pulled out the old filter, debris got blown into the blower motor--something that wasn't an issue before. Their solution? Charge me $85 to clean out a mess they caused. Moral of the story: if you take your car here, be prepared for unexpected issues... and unexpected charges to fix them. read more

At 2 pm Saturday I hadn't received a call so I called the dealership only to be informed the department that had my car was closed until Monday morning and they hadn't left my keys out for pickup. They botched my alignment (which I only had it done because they recommended it but now i'm doubting it) and are refusing to refund because I didn't return the day of the service. This is the last straw but let me list some of my experiences here: - They put wheel locks on my car after a tire rotation without telling me. I couldn't get a tire replaced at another shop when I had a nail it until I got my hands on a key. - Refused the carwash after noticing scratches after the first few times that I accepted. They did it anyways and destroyed my paint. - Went for the same recall/bulletin servicing twice (related to a specific noise) and both times it was not fixed. - After doing an inspection they left the battery cover on my engine instead of putting it back on... Can only imagine how negligent they are when they work inside of the cars. - To my point above, my car has developed weird sounds from the area of the car they have worked on previously. Like they forgot to put everything together before closing it back up. Going to find a new shop to verify this. I may be the bigger moron for keep coming back here so warranty would cover some services but I'd rather have a few apes work on my car or pay for all services without warranty than return here. Update: went to another shop in Charlotte and they confirmed the alignment was absolutely botched plus they left my rear camber ecentric so loose that they could undo it with their fingers... My biggest gripe is with the mixed messages and misinformation I received from the employees here. Also the lack of reliable and honest customer service. The back-and-forth inconsistent answers, the potential lies, the broken gentleman's agreement, the reassurance then disappointment. I lost my car keys and was unable to move my vehicle. When I called planet Kia, Zeke (sp?) was super friendly and helpful on the phone, I'll give him that. I needed a replacement key, so I ubered up to Planet Kia to get a key, long story long, they cut me a new key for just around $70, said "you're all set" and I said "so this will work?" to which they replied "Yes m'am. Ubered home. Well, I didn't need my car for about another day before I had to get to work. I turn the key, and my car is like sputtering, wont start. So I thought because it had been sitting there a few days (because I had no key) that maybe I had a battery issue, called AAA to come out there, and they did a diagnosis; nothing. So I thought a-ha, I did just get a new key, could that be it?? The AAA said "not likely, but it's worth a look into"... he left. So I called Planet Kia "My car won't start, is this related to the new key?" and I was told most likely yes, they had cut the key, sent me on my way, but did not program it (OR tell me I needed to program it). So they told me I had to bring the actual vehicle in. So the next day, for the second time, I call AAA for a tow to bring the actual vehicle to Kia for the programming. Roy was working the counter. I explained I was sent home with a key I paid nearly $70 that they said would work. I paid, it did not work. I said this is not acceptable, why would I pay another $80 to program it when I had a key I was assured would work?? This makes me highly uncomfortable, but I asked to speak to the supervisor and was informed he was "away" but would be back in a couple days. Roy also said that they could not have the employees program the key without payment, BUT that I could get REIMBURSED. I said "by who?" and he said in a few days the manager would be in. I called the day the manager was in, and I explained Roy said I could get reimbursed, and was told "ma'am we don't do that"... WHAT, I had no writing of this conversation with Roy, this was a gentleman's handshake!! A verbal agreement. ALWAYS VOICE MEMO/RECORD ANYTHING WITH KIA! On the day Roy said the manager would be back I wanted to come in for my reimbursement, I called, "he's at lunch" so I said "okay I'll be there in 10 mins, I'll wait" and all the sudden the manager was very quickly available. This time Roy had told me I would not be reimbursed for the key cutting, but the programming, maybe. THen I was told by the manager there was no reimbursement. Not possible. NO flexibility. WOW. So I called corporate, and was told I'm protected under a 20 year, 200,000 mile warranty and should never have been charged for any of this. Two days later, corporate calls back and said they made a mistake, that it was all valid, and it is what it is. Kia... why the back and forth?? I know good customer service, and that is listening to the customer and giving clear and consistent answers. What is $150 to KIA? It's worth sacrificing the company reputation for? Listen, I get it, it's $150, it's not the end of the world. AGAIN as I stated previously the point is the back-and-forth inconsistent answers, the potential lies, the broken gentleman's agreement, the reassurance then disappointment. Get it together. Get everyone on the same page. Train your employees to know the answers or when when to ADMIT "I don't know, I'll get back to you on that" No more guessing, no lies. They didn't pay off my trade until I kept calling them that I am now paying two car payments and only one car. This place is terrible. I have been here for my car service three times, every time something goes wrong or they forget to do something. Also they have you sit for over an hour before they even start working on your car. I waited for an hour and 30 minutes before they saw my car, which was at 5:15pm. Remember they close at 6:00pm... They didn't do a thing to my car, for which reasons I brought it there. I wasted over 3 hours sitting there for them to tell me that they didn't do anything. They didn't even reset my oil life on my car like I asked them to which they also didn't do the last time i was here. When the girl at the customer service desk called them to reset the oil life they were closing up... even though they had my car for three hours and they never even did it to begin with which would probably have only taken them a few minutes anyways. Long story short I won't be bringing my car back here ever again This is the third time I have had problems with this location. The mechanics aren't doing what they're supposed to do. They sent me the estimates the day after I brought it in and I approved it but never heard back. After a few days of not hearing from them, it took me calling MANY times to finally get through to someone. I was told they were waiting on parts and my car would be ready by Wednesday of last week. Hey Happy New Year, and we are back home!!! The first thing that I needed to get taken care of was my 2020 KIA Soul, her name is "Princess Grace" (not exactly a shocker there). I chose to go to Planet KIA in Charlotte, to see the brand new store; I had heard it was really pretty. IT IS!!!! The service at Planet was absolutely fantastic! I have been to quite a few dealerships, having a husband "in the business" for over 20 years. Planet was one of my favorite, the staff there is friendly and welcoming, they told me everything that was going on, before they did it, and double checked with me, that I wanted certain things, I was a bit early for my scheduled service, so they were being thorough. The person that helped me from the time of my scheduling call until my service was over was Daniel. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process, all the way to opening my car door for me. I have to say, I do know Daniel personally, however, at work he is all about work, and was completely above board as anyone would expect from an employee at a dealership. Like I had said, I have been to many, so if this dealer made an impression like this, it says something. We have a great group of dealerships in North Carolina, truly some of the most professional people, friendly, caring and welcoming. It is a pleasure to walk into Planet KIA I recommend it! read more

NIGHTMARISH EXPERIENCE On 12/28/2023, my husband and I went to Planet Kia to test drive a pre-owned SUV. While we were there, the salesperson showed us a 2024 SUV with 35 miles on it. We test drove the SUV and liked it so we agreed to purchase the vehicle. We were asked if we could pay $1500 down. My husband and I said that we weren't prepared to pay the downpayment on that day, but would return on the following Thursday, (01/04/24) to purchase the vehicle. The salesperson stepped away to speak with the Sales Manager who then asked if we could pay the downpayment with a personal check, and if so, we could take possession that day. We agreed, and paid the downpayment with the check. Julianna (finance) stated to us that the accounting department "sits on personal checks for a very long time, so just make sure you keep the money in your account because I didn't know when they will decide to deposit the check", we thanked her for the heads-up and told her that was fine. Two weeks later we received a call from Julianna stating that the accounting department did not want to process the check and stated that we needed to come back to the dealership and replace the check with cash. We told her, "ABSOLUTELY NOT", we did EXACTLY what you guys told us to do. We are not doing anything additional. Today, January 22, 2024, we receive yet ANOTHER call from this dealership. We were told that the General Manager, Ken Reed, had instructed us to come back to the dealership and replace the $1500 downpayment with cash or return the vehicle. This vehicle has already been financed by our lien holder, meaning the vehicle doesn't even belong to the dealership any longer. I'm not sure if their bullying, intimidation, and threatening tactics have worked on other customers, but we are not moved by their messiness and piss poor customer service. As of today, they are STILL sitting on the $1500 check, so it's not that they haven't received the downpayment, they just decided two weeks AFTER we purchased the vehicle that they didn't like the method in which we paid the down payment so they thought using these intimidation tactics would muscle us into doing something we said we are not going to do. Keep in mind, paying the downpayment by check was THE DEALERSHIP'S idea, not ours! We said we would come back on a later date when we had cash in hand...THIS WAS THEIR IDEA! And it's not that they don't accept personal checks for down payment's because Julianna in finance told us that "accounting sits on checks for long for long periods of time", so they clearly accept checks as a form of payment. The General Manager, Ken Reed, has yet to speak with us directly, he is filtering his threats to us through his staff. So I don't know if it's discriminatory or just plain piss poor customer service. But either way, I'd encourage everyone to avoid this place at all costs! read more

Sales department is awful. Do NOT give them the business. They are so sneaky and don't make an effort to get your business. Wound up buying out lease and then sat there for 6 hours. Didn't even offer to wash cars after inspecting them. read more

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE! What an unexpected pleasure of working with everyone at Planet Kia last week! I only say that because the thought of going into a car dealership has always felt daunting to me. Some sales people are a bit over the top and always pressure you or try too hard to sell a car. That was definitely NOT the case here!!! My experience was 110% outstanding. Most importantly, Sheldon Richards, who was my first point of contact and who carried me through the whole process from start to finish. Sheldon was very professional, knowlegeable, transparent, extremely informative and explained everything about the vehicle and the car buying process itself very well. I appreciate all the hand holding he did for me as a first time new car buyer. Sheldon and the team made sure the process was incredibly quick and easy with my busy schedule. Dwayne (not the rock) Johnson, Alix Saintil, and Juliana Boukhima were all very pleasant and professional to work with throughout the signing and payment process. My experience with Planet Kia of Charlotte began on a very positive note. They delivered on everything they told me they would and the car drives like a dream! Fast forward 2 months after leasing a new vehicle and I receive a notification from the dealership of my previous vehicle that they never received the payoff and my account was past due. I had reached out to Kia 2 weeks after the purchase of the vehicle making sure all was successful with the payoff and was assured that it was ok. It was not. The previous dealership never received payment and with me being unaware my account was past due and my credit dropped by over 100 points. Come to find out, the payoff check was mailed over a month after my purchase of the new vehicle and it was sent to the wrong address. The check was returned and still was not sent to the correct address so my account is still showing a balance. It's been nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone at Kia so I finally had to go into the dealership to talk to them directly. I still have no idea where I stand on this as the matter has not been resolved. I've asked to speak to a manager multiple times and one has never given me the courtesy of a call. The only person this is truly impacting is me, as Kia is being paid on time and sold my previous vehicle. I really love my KIA but next time I will go to a more reputable dealership who can handle this type of transaction. read more

Spoke to Roy on the phone (who was very kind!) & Came here to get oil change and tire rotation. They got me an appointment that was about a week from when I called. Couldn't be happier with the service ! They even gave me a complimentary car wash :) read more

Honestly what's the point of making an appointment if it's going to be 3+ hours. It's ridiculous.
