I had an appointment that I prebooked. I really didn't have time to go but made it work. I arrived on time and waited 40 minutes and was never seen the stylist came out and said 5 more minutes 30 minutes after my appointment time should have started, then the front desk lady told me 5 more minutes pushing my wait to 45 minutes. I ended up leaving and they only offered me a 20%off discount for over a wait time of 60% what my appointment should have lasted in total. I don't know that I will be back. zero stars. read more

DO NOT GO HERE FOR EXTENSIONS !! I was booked to get extensions with Venera H. I was very disappointed when she refused to do them any longer than past my shoulders as my hair is "too thick". I've had extensions to my waist which i've blended by myself with EASE sitting in my bedroom floor. To me it seemed she was just incompetent. When I expressed that I was unwilling to pay over a thousand dollars for about 3-4 inches of hair she was snarky and rude. She was the only extension specialist available on the sight yet she can't even do a simple blending job. I hope one day they will find a competent extension specialist... read more

First time at this new location (1925 Justice Drive, Suite 160) and having the head spa experience. Experience was good, but I could tell this is a new aspect of service here. Morgan D. was booked for head spa. She was nice, but a little too gentle with my scalp. At entry, I was given a chance to request what pressure I desired: moderate to intense. I emphasized to front desk staff what I preferred and that I was not tender headed. For my hair care after head spa, I had requested Cece. I have never had her, but I felt my chances of having a better hair care experience would be more likely with Cece since she is a woman of color. Morgan informed me that she was doing my hair as well. I offered feedback after she blow dried my hair and used her fingers. I let her know my hair can retain a lot of heat and also asked her to use a comb with blow dryer. She seemed a little offended that I offered feedback on my hair and told me that she had planned to do that anyway. Even after she used the comb, my hair was not dried and straightened to my preference, and she proceeded to flatiron. The outcome looked nice but was fluffier than I require for my hair style to last. No worries, I could tell she wanted to be done with me. I still tipped her more than 15% but less than 20% since she has spent my entire with me and provided two services. But I will not return. It is disheartening to still have to encounter stylists that are not well-prepared for all hair types, specifically natural and ethnic hair. I could not find a nice way to emphasize why I would prefer Cece or at least someone comfortable with my hair type. read more

I have seen several stylist and have always loved my hair afterwards. I currently see Jacob Moore and he is awesome. ​

Overall the salon has a nice vibe. However the price points are a bit high for newer stylists. I used to go here years ago so when I moved back to KY I thought I'd try it again. The colorist I got assured me they had the products for my formula. Then midway through putting on my color she said "oh yeah we don't have that brand anymore." As a platinum blonde, it's very important to me to follow successful formula for my hair. So not letting me know ahead of time this visit wouldn't be using the same brand would've been nice. Needless to say I left with lots of yellow and knowing I wouldn't go back again. For other colors I'm sure they do a fine job, but for platinum blondes I'd go elsewhere. read more

I've been coming to this salon for a few years, my stylist is Crystal and I would highly recommend her to everyone! She offers suggestions and I'm always satisfied with the way my color and cut come out! (Even though I can be a bit vague with the description of what I'd like to get done). Service is very friendly and especially during Covid I feel comfortable coming in as social distancing is enforced. A lot of times men are intimidated by coming into a salon like this but whenever I'm there I tend to see a lot of guys come in to get their hair done as well. I'm not a cheater, but I had to get a haircut and knew my main stylist probably didn't have any appointments that day...so there I was in Leah's chair at Planet Salon...very nervous. Could she cut this Asian hair?? Well folks, yes she can!! I was so happy with how my hair turned out and I feel like Leah knew just what I wanted and she gave me her expert advice as well. I'm glad this didn't turn experience didn't turn out to be a That's-what-you-get for cheating on your hair dresser moment. I'm glad I found a plan B place to groom me. I've come here specifically for Bailey (recommended by a friend) a few times and I have not been disappointed. My experiences at this salon have been wonderful. I'm always pleasantly greeted by the front desk and have never had to wait longer than when my appointment was. I love coming to Bailey because she has an amazing and supportive personality. While she's cutting your hair she won't let you see, but she's constantly saying "oh girl this looks so good" or "this was such a great idea." At my last appointment she was hesitant to do the "curtain bang", but I was pretty gung-ho on it, so she cut them. At the end she said "I'm so glad I didn't talk you out of getting these!" Her saying that reassured my decision and made me feel great about myself. I, of course, recommend checking Bailey out, but I think the whole staff are well versed in their craft. read more

While visiting the area , for a few months, came in for a haircut, before traveling home. Stylist damaged and thinned out my hair. Haircut felt lazy, rushed, but most of all poorly executed and educated. Stylist didn't seem to have the knowledge of the craft. My hair has felt frizzy and weak. The stylist managed to destroy my thick wavy hair, and leave me with overly thinned out, damaged looking strands. It will take many months, to get back to normal, so I can have someone fix it. Very much regret not waiting to go to a high level professional. Bad haircuts, kill your confidence and self esteem. Much better to wait, and be in need of a haircut, than risk getting a bad one. Not much you can do to remedy the situation, other than time and waiting. But, immensely disappointed, that I paid for something that I dislike so much. I scheduled a haircut for my husband for 7:15 PM with Cece. He had a promotion ceremony at the fire department the next day, and needed to get his hair clipped. I was contacted at 6:48 PM to try to reschedule the appointment because of a "scheduling error." When I called the salon, they told me that another client was running behind and that caused the "scheduling error." No one else was available to do it. What a joke. If the client was running late, they should have removed the next appointment, but they didn't. All they did was completely inconvenience us with no remorse. read more

Well, I went there at 10am on the day of my daughters graduation, now take in mind, her graduation wasn't until 5:30pm and I wanted my hair cut with all over color and high lights just on top, so that's what was happening until Amanda took me into the wash room to rinse out the bleach and dye, she added toner to the top part which your supposed to do, but then she took off for almost a HR, went and did someone else's hair (she even brought her to the wash room and washed her hair while I was still waiting) then had someone else come over finally to rinse it out and said that Amanda told her to put in a conditioner treatment, so the other girl put that in my hair and went on about her way thinking that Amanda was coming back over to wash it out, finally I got up and went to the restroom real quick trying to calm myself down, walked back out and went up front to see where she was and she walked up to me saying oh there you are, I was looking for you, did you use the bathroom... by this time I was really upset, cause I didn't see any blonde in my hair what so ever! So I said to her, where's the blonde, she had me sit down and seen that there wasn't any, took me back to the wash room and stripped the toner out of my hair then took me back up front and dried it some to see if that was good enough and it was far from blonde! So she had to re foil my hair on top and then add more toner just to get it half way to what I wanted. All while I was thinking it was going to be under 200 like she told me it would be in the beginning... 4:15pm rolls around and she finally gets done, well as done as it was going to get and charged me 280!!!! I was blown away!!!! I ended up getting my daughter to her own graduation late cause I had to still get a shower and help her get ready! I will never and I mean NEVER go back there! The service here was fantastic. Everyone was very kind, punctual and courteous! The facilities are clean and nice. I really enjoyed talking to the lady who did my wax. Unfortunately, she did a terrible job. I got a Brazilian and it took her about an hour. He had to go over areas multiple times and still left me patchy. It was incredibly painful and the hair grew back after 5 days. I went to a different salon the next time and it took that person 15 minutes, no repeated sections, and it didn't grow in for 3 weeks. I have had my hair cut here twice and have been pleased both times! The stylists I've had didn't take too much off and gave my hair nice shape. The products they use are bumble and bumble which smells phenomenal! It's also nice that you can usually book for the same day. I felt like it's priced well! First, I was quoted that my visit would cost $153 for full highlights, haircut and style. They keep your card on file and just charge you at the end. I found that they added their own tip without asking How much I would like to tip. When my stylist took my cape off, my hair was soaking wet and she told me I was good to go. I said "I paid for a haircut and style" to which I was told "that only means brushed and dried partially." When looking at my card statement I was charged $233 rather than the $153. Upon calling I was told my hair was longer than they thought and that my hair definitely should have been dried all the way. when I asked what they were going to do about it, they responded "We don't do refunds. But we will give you 25% off your next visit." obviously I will not be returning so that 25% is no good. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

I get keratin treatments, highlights and cuts regularly, and it's hard to find someone that knows how to take care of me in a way that makes me look good and feel good. Crystal L. Is a miracle worker! Crystal did my hair Thursday morning & I sat in her chair with long hair, 4 different colors along with lots of grey, a ratchet head band & bun. My hair was a covid mess! I work in a hospital & I didn't have the time plus I was hair/stylist hopeless. I'd been to 6 different stylist in the past who could not get the blonde I wanted along with the darker undertones. I thought well I'll give it another shot.. Love this place. I've been many times before, but it had been over 2 years before my last visit (until today). The reason is my favorite stylist apparently moved to Knoxville and I just couldn't get over it. Jason was amazing. Well, today I decided to go through with a drastic change -- I wanted an undercut pixie. I called the salon and booked an appointment with Laura. When I met Laura and showed her the pictures of the cut I wanted, she stopped smiling and said "Why do you want to do that?" I explained why and she took me back to get shampooed. She left to go get a cape, and she was going for about three minutes. If her expression from earlier didn't give it away, I knew then she didn't want to do the cut. Then she brought another stylist named Mary back with her, and explained to me that she had never done that kind of cut before and didn't feel comfortable doing that. However, she assured me that Mary was quite comfortable and proficient (for lack of a better word) and would do an excellent job. I was so happy that Laura was honest with me about her skills and that she found another stylist who could give me what I wanted. It was very proactive and was great customer service. Mary was amazing and did a fabulous job. Laura also stayed to watch, which I liked because it shows that she gives a crap. I had an appointment at the hamburg location on 7/18 at 2pm and showed a picture of a light shadow root and blonde ends, I had 3 inches of new growth which was very blonde, while I did have box dye that can be tricky it was faded and lighter than when I left. I walked out extremely disappointed and upset with the results/ price / wasted time.The hair turned out 5 shades darker than when I left and the roots of new blonde growth are completely gone, no shadow root and minimal blonde streaks throughout the hair. If I had wanted darker hair, I would have done it myself for a fraction of the cost and time.Considering the amount of foils and 3 bowls of bleach this should have been much lighter and similar to the picture. read more

I have been going to Planet Salon & Spa off and on for several years (away for school) & regularly for a year--I can honestly say I have never received a bad haircut! For starters, the facility is very clean, the staff (give or take a few receptionists) are friendly, and the atmosphere is very nice. Leah is a rockstar at cutting my hair consistently well (which has been an issue with past hairstylists), styling nicely (which is hit-or-miss with other places I've been), and being all-around super easy to talk to (which is like free therapy lol)! On another note, I have several allergies & have opted to bring in my own hair products with no complaint at all from Planet Salon & Spa! read more

Let me start out by saying that I have a lot of CURLY HAIR. ;) It's a challenge to find someone who knows how to cut it correctly. When the stylist said that the way she cuts curly hair is to straight iron it first, I knew she didn't know how to cut curly hair. I even asked, "won't that make the lengths uneven once it curls up?" She assured me it wouldn't and I went along with it because I was in a hurry. Big mistake. She basically cut layers and wisps into my hair as if it were STRAIGHT. So, as I imagined, it looks beautiful straight. But, once I washed my hair and it was curly again, it was an awful mess. One side is an inch longer than the other, all of it is WAY too short, and it's frizzy all over. This might be the worst hair cut I've ever gotten, and that's saying a lot. I take responsibility for my part because I knew full well she didn't know what she was doing. But, as a stylist, I think you have a responsibility to just be honest. If curly hair isn't your thing, hand it over to someone who knows what they're doing instead of just winging it. read more

They go out of their way to make me feel special! Not only are the stylist amazing, but so is their product and atmosphere!
