This little seafood restaurant is quite the surprise in Omaha! I appreciated that they gave me some free oysters for checking in on Yelp, first of all! After I ate those, everyone in the group took part in an epic oyster shot. In my opinion, this is something that everyone should have on their bucket list. It's disturbingly easy to take! ;) We were visiting Plank's in between mealtimes so we each got an appetizer. The baked macaroni and cheese, fish tacos, and cheese curds were very delicious. I got a Baby Arugula House Salad with Grilled Salmon added, and every bite was awesome. I'm always nervous about salads where I can't add my own dressing, because sometimes with all the vinaigrette it's almost like a soup AND salad by the time I get it. But it was the perfect amount of everything. Each bite had the right proportion of orange, almond, lettuce, and salmon. I would be happy to go back anytime. read more

My first meal in Omaha and I couldn't be more pleased with the food and the service. I'd accidentally left my credit card in the receipt folder after paying for dinner and I returned several hours later upon realizing. The hostess immediately went to inquire on my behalf and ultimately told me that they had found my credit card, but that it would be about half an hour before a manager could come to bring it. The hostess and active manager Stephanie apologized profusely even though it had been my error and offered me dessert, coffee and tea. I declined, saying that it was unnecessary since it had been my mistake, but a very nice waiter came by shortly to bring a scrumptious chocolate raspberry cheesecake. I came here for the first time today. Came for happy hour. I was not disappointed. 2$ Coors lights and $1.25 Chesapeake Bay Oysters. The baked Mac N' Cheese with Applewood Smoked Bacon & Green Peas was sooooooooo good!! The bacon chunks were great, more of a pork belly than bacon strip. Loved it. We stumbled by here last night while walking through town! We were pleased to see it was happy hour and we ordered 1.5 dozen of oysters and since they were so good we ordered a dozen more (Miyagi)! We ask tried the mussels which were fantastic. The bread with that sauce was So tasty. We also had the gumbo soup and a vodka gimlet and house chard. Bartenders are almost always spot on with their pours and he happy hour menu is very well put together. Looks like it changes about once a month, so there's always something to snag and try. Being newer Nebraskans, we are still in that exploratory stage. We have driven through Old Market a few times, but have never stopped to eat. Today we were purposeful. We tried to go to a restaurant that turned out be closed. We were out on foot, so we went exploring. After walking around for a half hour we ended up at Plank. It turned out to be one of our best experiences in a long time. Nice balanced menu of seafood choices. Excellent wine and beer listings. My wife is not a big oyster fan, but I am. Started with 3 fresh blue points. Yum. My wife ordered the gulf shrimp en brochette and I had the blackened Mahi Mahi tacos. Home run with both plates. Presentations were beautiful. The food was light and seasoned to perfection. We enjoyed a couple of glasses of Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc. Best SBs in the world are coming out of the Marlborough District in New Zealand. We finished off with bananas foster. Another home run while people watching from the patio. Taylor was the best server and Adam, the Manager, checked on us often. We will be back. Excellent service here but food was just okay. I didn't have a huge tasting of the menu, chowder and calamari. The chowder was actually really good but they put a ton of bacon on it so you can't tell if you're biting into a piece of the clam or a full on fatty piece of bacon, so I didn't find the chowder as enjoyable due to that addition. Would order without bacon next time. I'd pass on the calamari. A little fishy, more fried coating than actually meaty calamari. Much better over at 801 chophouse. read more

Love this place! $1.25 per oyster for happy hour is pretty awesome. They have an extensive happy hour menu with good appetizers, sandwiches, and drinks. The happy hour oysters are not big. We went to Plank Seafood for Happy Hour on a Saturday before our dinner plans at another restaurant in the Old Market. The happy hour goes till 6:30 on Saturday which was impressive. My husband was excited for the $1.50 mussels on the happy hour menu. He ordered mussels and a beer; and I had a glass of wine for $3. We wished we could have had dinner there, but we were only in Omaha for two nights so we had to make some tough decisions. There are a lot of good restaurants in the area and not enough time to try them all. The dinner menu looked interesting and there were several entrees I was interested in. We ate on the patio, but the inside of the restaurant was very shabby chic. It seemed more modern and well kept than most of the places in the Old Market. read more

To say the food at Plank is good would be a lie. The food here was FANTASTIC. The only thing better than the food was the service. Blake, Erica, and Stephanie went above and beyond to make our evening one of the most memorable we've shared. The lobster fries were everything I hoped for and more. The yellowtail sliders were out of this world. Mahi tacos - delicious. Scallops, salmon, it didn't matter what was ordered - everyone raved about the food. The staff was on top of every request, and for a party of 12, that's really saying something. If you can only go to one restaurant in Omaha, this is the place to go. Being from Portland, Oregon, we can sometimes we food snobs when we go to other cities. Everyone in town kept telling us to try Plank and we were weary (like who eats seafood in the midwest??) but we were totally satisfied with our whole experience. The service was really fast and attentive. Our food was delicious (I had steak & my friend had seafood). The oysters were pretty amazing. My only qualm (and this should not reflect badly on the restaurant a bit) was that we made later dinner reservations on a Saturday night, expecting a more adult crowd, and there were several tables with children nearby. They were all well behaved, but the when kids are next to you eating fish & chips out of a basket, I felt like our dinner went from classy to casual family-eatery real fast. That's just me. What a fun place and no one here at 3 did not realize what time it was. The lobster bisque was good but for 7 dollars I would expect a full cup. It had a good buttery finish.Next on to the oysters on the half shell. A good start to the finish of a captains daughter pomagrate drink. On to a two if by vodka and gator po boy. Great bread and fresh ingredients all though the po boy was more of a pickle sandwich the gator got away. Great salad but on a 90 degree day cold crisp is way better that warm fresh salad. read more

WOW!!!!! Everyone who's ever read one of my reviews knows that, above all else, I LOVE GREAT FOOD!!!! Plank Seafood Provisions DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! This place is a must visit if you're ever in Omaha, NE. The atmosphere is casual and the menu is very affordable. It's a great date night place, but also good for families! Everything that everyone else on Yelp has said about the Oysters Rockefeller and the Blackened Mississippi Catfish was absolutely true!!! On top of all of that, they have a great Boston Style Oyster Bar right at the front door. Since they gave me 3 oysters for checking in on Yelp, I can honestly say that they were very fresh!!! I'm going to really be in trouble with my trainer for admitting this, but the Bananas Foster Bread Pudding was worth getting in trouble for!!!! On top of all of that, the service was extraordinary!!! I've been here several times because Matt enjoys eating here. Normally, I do not like this place at all. I'm not a fan of shellfish and I prefer cleaner white meat type fish. I understand we're in Nebraska and it's harder to get that type of fish here but you would think they could figure something out. This last visit we were here with a birthday group. We did have several problems with the hostess girl (who actually rolled her eyes at our friend). They had messed up on the name the reservation was under and she made it seem like it was our fault. Another girl figured it out and apologized to us. Thankfully, they added a pasta carbonara to the menu. It comes with salmon and when I told the waitress to leave it off she offered to add chicken instead. It was very good, I was pleasantly surprised. We stopped in here for a late lunch today with our party of 4. Mussels for an appetizer that were very good despite a little grit (easily rectified by some more careful prep). Our entrees were all very good, well prepared, and brought to the table piping hot. The service was a little spotty though. our server was pleasant but a good bit less attentive than I'd have liked. I asked for malt vinegar for my fish and after five minutes flagged down another server when ours disappeared. My food was great but I was unable to eat until I had the condiment, and that should have been along quickly. This would have been only a slight issue of our server had addressed it directly and made acknowledgement of her absence. Overall a good meal but with some bugs on our visit that made me dock it. I don't want perfection, but a little attentiveness goes a long way. read more

If you love oysters then you will love this place! I am not a huge fan but they offer walleye, catfish, and talapia too. It was very busy when we went and the people next to us waited for a long time to be served. If they were more organized I would give them a higher rating. A colleague and I ate here during a trip to Omaha, and I'm glad we followed all of the Yelp reviews because I, after living on the east coast for 10 years, am admittedly a little dubious about eating seafood so far inland. Perhaps I should revise this philosophy, because by far the worst fish-based food poisoning i ever got was right next to the seaside in Ireland, and this place was wonderful. We started out with a delicious round of raw and Rockefeller oysters, and I had a lobster roll, despite being dubious about having one in Omaha. Shouldn't have been dubious. Hubby commented as he was perusing the menu, " this is like the Disneyland of oyster bars." Plank Seafood Provisions is situated in beautiful, funky, hip, downtown Omaha. If it weren't for the cold and occasional snow flake you would think you were in N'awlins. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. We mentioned finding The Plank on Yelp and our waiter immediately knew about the check in and three free oysters. ($10 value). So, no hassle there. If you like oysters you really need to try the BBQ oysters. Wood fired and savory. They have about six varieties of oysters on half shell to try, too. We tried Blue Point and Peters Point, both really good and fresh. I'd work there for payment in oysters only. I had the clam chowder (fantastic) and hubs had the lobster bisque (nice briny flavor). I then had salmon Cobb salad and he had the andouille sausage sandwich. We were very pleased and hope to come here again some day. Too bad we live 265 miles away. read more

The food was really good. As an appetizer, I got the Prince Edward Island Mussels. They were delicious and disappeared very quickly between me and my friend. For the main course, I got the Albacore Tuna au poivre. It was really good. the fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce was rich and creamy and complimented the tuna well. The only reason for not getting 5 stars is the service. It was very slow and it wasn't busy at all. It probably would have been better if our waitress wasn't serving her friends a few tables down where she spent most of her time chatting. Where to start. Making a reservation was a great way to start this date night. For the appetizer we had the calamari and a dozen Chesapeake oysters. The calamari and the aioli that it was served with tasted like it had just need brought to us from heavens kitchen and the oysters were perfect. Chilled on a bed of ice, and served with proper garnish in an extremely expedient manner. Main course: I had the tuna and my wife had the naked walleye. Served with crisp potatoes and steamed veggies. Magnificent, the tuna was medium rare as tuna should be, and the walleye was cooked to a perfect tender fall apart with a fork perfection. Dessert: this is the second time I have been there and the banana fosters bread pudding is to die for. You may think you have entered into a new world with first bite. This is the second time I've been here. First round was ok. But this time not good. It was for our 19th wedding anniversary which made it even more frustrating. I put it in my yelp reservation app and said something to our waitress but got no response. 1. We got seated with no menus. We sat for several minutes before our waitress acknowledged us. Then we finally got menus and even later water. I don't think she cared and at a place like this with main dishes in the $17- $30 range, please care. Even when you screw up right away apologize! 2. Food was ok but not worth the prices. I did like the $6.50 cup of white stew soup. My bacon wrapped shrimp was tough to chew. One shrimp wasn't cooked completely. 3. Not a huge food selection which is fine. However on a Sunday at 7:30 you are out of mussels and the big scallops for the main dish! Our anniversary meal that we selected Plank of all great restaurants in Omaha to eat at, and they didn't have several items on the menu. The waitress tells us "you are going to hate me but..." 3. Shrimp cocktail was $11 for 6 decent size shrimp. It was ok but nothing exciting. They did have a white cream sauce that was good to dip them in. 4. I did not speak to the manager. Yes I probably should but was hoping our waitress would change her tune. She was polite but that's all I could say. Will I go back? No. There are other good seafood options in Omaha i.e. Bonefish Grill and Shucks to start out with that I can get better service and food with a more aligned price for what is offered. read more
