Came for a table for one. Despite plenty of seating available, I was told it would be about a 20 minute wait. I added myself to the waiting list and was told I'd receive a text message when my table was ready. I received the original text message, confirming I was successfully added to the waiting list. After an hour wait, I messaged the staff via the waiting list. No response. I observed perhaps 100 people go in and dine, many also leaving. I assumed they had been on the waiting list. After no respond and a total of an hour and a half wait, I walked up the street to M's Pub and was seated immediately. M's is a better restaurant anyway... I'd give this a zero out of five stars if possible. Profiled for being a table of one... Funny, I rang up a $150 bill at M's. read more

Been to jams a couple of time now and I can say they're a solid choice for a casual dinner. I was in the mood for fish and chips and their version of it was fun, but didn't really quench the desire. The fish was in strips like fish sticks and the chips were waffle fries. The two sauces were interesting and flavorful, but neither were a thick tartar sauce for dunking. Service was kind of snarky in a fun way, if you were in the mood for it. read more

Every Reaturant I been to at Old Market has been really nice with lots of ambiance. This one is no exception. The inside and bar looks wonderful. The prices on the menu here in Omaha is considerably less than Hawaii. So my Meatloaf plate was only $19.00. It was delicious served with butter string beans and baby carrots. I'm going to have to say that the food at Jams is not really...ummm...my jam. These "New American Cuisine" places often don't have things that really set them apart from each other. The biscuit and gravy stacker from the brunch menu was just not great to eat. It would be improved by 1. Using better biscuits and 2. using better gravy. You just can't make up for that by slapping a slice of American cheese in there and a smear of jalapeño jam. The potatoes that came with it - I LOVED those. If I go back I will see if I can get just those, and maybe some bacon. Service was good; and it is an attractive and comfortable place in the Old Market. read more

So don't judge this meal how it looks. Is the arugula too much? Yes. Does the chicken look over cooked? Yes. Just remove the overdone garnish and dig in. Had a delicious casual meal while visiting Omaha recently. We shared lettuce wraps for an appetizer, and my wife ordered a spinach salad with shrimp, while I had short ribs in a kind of grilled cheese sandwich. We had an early dinner on a Thursday night. The restaurant was not crowded yet so we had very good service. There are so many choices on the menu. It was hard to decide. I chose a fried chicken dish that included green beans and mashed potatoes with a gravy. It was nice comfort food but not anything I would order again. My coworker got enchiladas and she liked hers, also. Normally, I would have taken half of it home but because I was there for work and in a hotel, I had to eat my fill at the table. I overdid it but luckily there's a really nice park nearby so I could walk it off. Finding the place took a bit cause they are borrowing the space next door for a few weeks while they make some improvements but it was well worth it! The menu is very diverse and the portions are ginormous! The steak salad in my photo is the half portion not the full! The steak was cooked just the way I ordered it and very flavorful! The meatballs were also amazing! The drinks were very tasty too. I sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly but not overly invasive. Jams has consistently been a favorite and go-to spot in Omaha over the years! It's great for groups of any size and the menu has such a great variety that it'll satisfy everyone in your group - from meatballs to tacos to brunch. I've probably had most things on the menu at this point! Standouts are the bruschetta, blue crab rangoon egg rolls, meatballs, coconut chicken strips, grilled chicken Caesar salad (honestly all the salads), and the mac and cheese. for brunch the maple bacon frenchy, the strapping lad, and the biscuits and gravy. (their breakfast potatoes are soooo good and the sausage is my favorite in the city! - I'm not even that big of a sausage person too) this place is never too busy so you rarely will have a wait and the service is pretty good. The patio is awesome when it's nice out and is covered so that is a win! I've overlooked a lot about this place in the past because I genuinely loved it--but the staff finally made it impossible to ignore. I've never experienced such unnecessarily rude, dismissive behavior over something so simple. Asking for a drink turned into being talked down to like I was an inconvenience for even existing. No explanation, no basic courtesy--just attitude from start to finish. What's wild is how comfortable the staff seemed acting like that. The mansplaining, the tone, the complete lack of professionalism--it felt less like customer service and more like they were annoyed they had to do their job at all. If the goal is to make people feel unwelcome, they've absolutely mastered it. There's a difference between enforcing policies and just being flat-out rude, and this staff clearly doesn't know it. Plenty of places manage to treat customers with basic respect--this just isn't one of them. Really disappointing, but at least now I know not to waste my time. Do better. read more

We stopped in on a Saturday around 1pm with a group of 11. We were seated fairly quickly. We got our drinks, but in between drinks, ordering, and getting our food, there were a lot of long stretches without our server (and it wasn't busy). Otherwise, the food was fantastic!! We love their bruchetta, and we tried a new menu item, the coffee cake. It was delicious! As always my roasted turkey was fantastic. Happy hour options are good, although, the sangria was the worst sangria I've ever had. It tasted like water with a splash of actual sangria. We stopped in here while looking for something that was casual and low key but not just bar food and were not disappointed. This is a nice cozy place in the old market area. I could imagine that it would be quite loud when it was busy, but Wednesday night somewhat late was not that time. We tried the crab rangoon egg rolls and I got the Asian bbq tofu sandwich. I believe these were both off the specials menu. The rangoon egg rolls were interesting, definitely a lot of fresh crab as part of this. The Asian bbq tofu sandwich was rather like a banh mi in a slightly different format. I do think the spicing on both was a bit overpowering. Not so unexpected with the sandwich. It was good however, and I will definitely be back. They had quite an interesting drink selection and our server was great about helping us pick out items. read more

Jams is a lively eatery downtown. Cocktails are well made and the waitstaff would love to bring you several. The lettuce wrap appetizer was delicious with a spicy sweet sauce on the side. A bit messy and we had a hard time catching our servers eye to get forgotten napkins & utensils. For entree's we tried the steak salad & pork chop with roasted vegetables, both were delicious... the food here is spot on. Busy weekends, you might need a reservation but we walked in mid-week no trouble. Give them a try it's worth the drive. read more

We got seated at M's Pub and were happy to eat there until we realized that they don't serve French fries on their menu. That was going to suffice for our pre-game/pre-drinking meal. The waiter was respectful about our decision to leave and recommened Jams, next door. We turned the corner and entered a delightfully different environment. Much more casual and light than M's Pub, and they do serve french fries! Our waiter was amazing and recommended anything on the menu that was made with their brisket so we ordered the short rib grilled cheese but asked to have the housemade tater tots instead of fries. Half way through eating we realized it wasn't really a grilled cheese and asked her about it. Turns out it was the brisket sandwich and she offered to exchange it, but it was so good we didn't even care. Absolutely delicious and well priced. Perfect for brunching with less frufru crowds. I am sad to say I found this place to be average. Interesting menu with a lot to choose from and decent reviews which attracted us. There were five of us and I think I am the only one who was less than thrilled. My husband liked his grilled mahi mahi tacos and two in my party had the burgers and seemed to be happy with them. I ordered the tuna melt. I normally love a tuna melt but it does need to be served pretty warm. This one was lukewarm and the cheese was not fully melted. The tomatoes on it were amazing tho. The nail in the coffin for me was the state of the woman's restroom. They were out of TP in stalls and the garbage can was overflowing. Obviously this does not bode well for the state of the kitchen. I was fortunate enough to have gone at the end of my meal as it was gross and would have turned me off from finishing my dinner. read more

We have stopped by in the past but this trip we stayed at the moxie and it is right around the corner. With the weather being a tundra this weekend thank goodness we love Jams! First stop for brunch, ambiance is beautiful and comfortably designed. Pre show dinner sat at the bar and had the salmon salad. So yummy and filling. Came back for night cocktail and desert everything on the desert menu looked amazing except for the cheesecake- I would be so much healthier if cheesecake were the only desert but it is not and I am so glad because I had the fabulous Chocolate Crème Brûlée!! This restaurant is in the downtown shopping center of Omaha, Nebraska. it is a cool vibe, and we were seated almost immediately, and they were pretty packed even on a weekday. Parking is a commodity because there is limited parking in front of the restaurant in nearby. Thankfully, my mom has a handicap plaque so we were able to park pretty close. Our waitress came to take our drink orders and educate us on the menu. We found out that she was a newer waitress. But it didn't show because she was confident and willing to answer all of our questions. And if she didn't know she went to find out the answer quickly. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because on their menu, I selected 2 different items, and they did not have all the ingredients for either of them. So I finally settled for what I always get at restaurants fish tacos. Now, the fish tacos were a huge portion. And the sauce was delicious and it had fresh toppings. So, I didn't really go wrong with the fish tacos but would have loved to try some of the other things on the menu. I guess that means I have to go back next time I'm in Omaha. read more

Jams is one of my go-to restaurants, but sadly, I went the other day for lunch and was quite disappointed. We were sitting outside since the weather was nice; however, the service was very bad, perhaps because we were sitting outside. We had to chase down our server for everything. I ordered the burrata salad from the seasonal menu. As soon as I got it, I knew I had made a mistake ordering it. Even though the menu listed that this salad had toppings, this "salad" was just burrata, arugula, and a total of two cherry tomatoes. Additionally, we ordered some fish tacos, which were cold by the time they got to us. It felt like they had been sitting out for a while before being served to us. Very disappointed with this experience. I hope this does not become the norm for Jams now. read more

A nice brunch location that takes reservations which is wonderful way to eliminate weekend waits. Our reservation was for 1030 and there were a few people already in the restaurant. Our waitress was very sweet and promptly took our orders. It seems that they might need a new coffee maker as getting coffee brewed and refills was a bit of a problem and some of our folks need their caffeine - lol! Climate control was also a bit of a challenge but we made the best of it. Not much updating to this restaurant since they opened and housekeeping was a bit lacking. The food offerings are fairly standard and arrived, hot and fresh. Good to know that brunch is available at this location. read more
