i had a bad experience at planned parenthood, i wasn't able to walk in even though i called before showing up. the office person assured me it was okay to walk in but i was turned away when i showed up. as for the care i can't say anything because i was offered appointments next month. the ladies in the front were nice but they need to communicate with the patient and with each other because the response when i called and when i showed up were not the same which was a big waste of time. read more

I always have great experiences here, appointment placing is easy when done over phone, check-in verification is quick and my visits have begun right on time- I've never had more than a couple minutes wait. Im able to request multiple services in a single visit, and the free condoms at the end of the visit is a thoughtful touch that encourages teen-adults to use protection, the facility is clean, nurses practice good hygiene and the appropriate equipment is sterile. The front desk, Nurses, and Nurse Practitioners are professional and kind, I also never get the "mean girl vibe" (if u know, u know) from anyone working here which is super important in a reproductive health clinic. The online planned parent hood patient portal is phenomenal, I'm able to print my medical records, and the information is updated the same day of my visit. To finish up, the only two cons to this specific location is there is no primary care services and no surgeries done here, for example: removal of a birth control implant. 10/10, would strongly recommend, hope this helps ! read more

I'm an 18-year-old transmasculine person who came in here for issues with extremely painful periods. This was my first time coming to a reproductive healthcare center and I was especially nervous having to be a transmasculine person coming in for female issues. I'm also autistic so my demeanor can be pretty awkward at times. Despite all this, they treated me with respect and were very kind. They asked in-depth about both my physical and mental health to come up with the right treatment option. The actual doctor even took into account that my disordered eating would probably not pair well with the weight gain that comes from the Depo option the assistant recommended which is not something most healthcare professionals would pay any mind to. She explained things well and I feel confident that I had the right option that would take care of my issue long-term without causing unbearable side effects. They gave me a 13 month supply on the spot too so I wouldn't have to come back anytime soon which I am super grateful for. The wait is long, I was probably in the waiting room for a good 40-50 minutes. However, as a first-time patient who needed some counseling on options, I understand that the long wait is probably to make sure patients are getting the best care possible. Plus when you take into account that they are happy to give you a year's supply, it's really not that bad in the long-term. Have a phone to play with, make sure you don't have anything booked right after, and enjoy knowing you're in good hands! I would recommend to the clinic, however, that they begin to ask beforehand during the intake what their patient's gender identities and pronouns are. I was never asked and the staff had to guess based on my presentation. It would be a much more gender-inclusive space if all identities and pronouns were asked for beforehand. I don't know if I had a one-in-a-million experience or what but I didn't run into any problems. Perhaps they read the reviews and changed a lot of things. I got to my appointment a few minutes late, but I was seen just a few minutes later. The women at the front desk were really nice. The place was immaculately clean. My appointment was early, so that could have been why. The doctor who was treating me took care of my concerns. I didn't feel judged for my super gross problem and I felt they genuinely cared about my health. read more

Went here a year and a half ago to get nexplanon put in. They tried telling me it was going to be $1,000 until I said I didn't have insurance. Then it was magically free. Called 2 weeks ago to make an appt to get it removed. Gave my insurance to the lady, she tells me to call my insurance to make sure it's going to be at no cost. My insurance said it's going to be free. So I made the appt. I dont drive so I had to have my friend drive me 30 minutes out there, just for them to deny me. Saying they have never taken my insurance (covered California). The full run around. Isn't the whole idea of planned parenthood is that it's free for women? And that's what all the funding is for? Guess they don't care about helping women anymore. read more

I just dont understand why wait times are so crazy, it makes me wonder what the point of even having the ability to create an appt at this location if it doesnt seem to really help. I also wanted to mention a thing that's been on my mind lately (this instance didnt happen today but happened a few months ago) where I came in for a refill on BC and while updating my current information, the lady that was helping me through the front window loudly asked while i was a few feet away what my current income was. A little embarrassed, but everyone in the waiting room looked up and i had no option but to walk back to the window and disclose the amount with everyone listening while she responded loudly simply stating "i just have to see if you still qualify for family PACT." Isnt there a more discreet way to ask this type of question? I mean, isnt there a section where i write that amount on the paper concerning the insurance? I was really embarrassed but yeah, it is what it is. read more

What is the point of making appointments if your not going to call in order . And it shouldn't take over a hour for a urine sample to come back . I seriously appreciate all that planned parenthood does for men and women and this review is in no way about every planned parenthood...this is just for this location. I just go in to get my depo shot...realistically this should be a 5 minute appointment "no changes from your last visit?" "Nope." "Any questions or concerns?" "Nope" "awesome. Here's your shot, have a great day!" But for some reason I ALWAYS end up being in there for an hour and a half or longer. I realize some patients are having other things done and appointments may take long than others, but wouldn't you want to get some one in and out of your waiting room when it's seriously the easiest thing in the world? Watching all the employees walk around all leisurely is infuriating! I work in food and I bust my butt faster than that! Cmon! It wasn't even a busy day! There was only 2 other people in there besides me! Thank you planned parenthood...but this particular location definitely needs an overhaul! read more

After reading the previous yelp, I felt the need to defend the Planned Parenthood of Modesto a little bit. Yes, even if you have an appointment you will have to wait (I've never not waited at a doctor's appointment tho). I've had appointments and waited hours, I've walked in and waited much shorter. It really seems to vary on the day and the other patients. Also, emergencies happen (I waited two hours in my exam room once because there was an emergency with another patient. It happens). And if the staff is more concerned with the Hispanic patients, that might have to do with the fact that most of the patients are Hispanic mothers with children. It doesn't make it right, but when it's your largest patient group you do tend to pay a bit more attention. So for the epic wait and the parking lot (super tiny, but some street parking) this place gets a low rating in my book (**). BUT! The service the provide (birth control, education, counseling, women's yearly exams, ect.) can be worth the wait. I don't currently have health insurance so it takes a weight off my shoulders to be able to get free birth control (any method you can think of, from the pill to the patch to condoms) as well as advice about what method to use and all the other help I've been given by the lovely Nurse Practitioner Ruth. I was upset about waiting for hours for a pap and she sat down and talked me through all my stress and told me she wouldn't leave until I felt better, she even wrote me a note to miss work due to my anxiety attack. That is 5 star service in my book! The wait time is still a huge problem, but in this economic crisis I think it will continue, too may people without health insurance. My advice? Be prepared to wait. Bring a book, a bottle of water, and have patience. read more

Had the worst experience thus far with planned parenthood. They scheduled me for an appointment just for the physicians to miss the online appointment scheduled. I missed 30 minutes of work waiting for the physician to come on. For them to reschedule my appointment another 30 minutes out for them to say I received a call when I didn't. Now I've wasted an hour and a half of my day waiting for an appointment that never even happened. Planned parenthood said that they were behind on appointments if you were behind why did you continue to reschedule me ? If I could give them a 0 right now I would. read more

If it was not for Planned Parenthood I would have never gotten the birth control of my choice (IUD) because at this moment I could not afford it. I am one of many people in the valley right now with out insurance. Over the years I have been treated at PP for a UTI and gotten my yearly examines. Sure there is a wait at times but that is usually clinic standards. I find if you go mid month the wait is better. I don't care for some of the staff, which thankfully rotates. I have gotten rude comments for my choice of not wanting children. Also yes the parking lot is tiny & when there are protesters it is even more tiny! read more

I decided to come here because I don't have a PCP at the moment and I have never been to a Planned Parenthood before. I had no idea what to do or expect so I called their office (I don't believe it was the Modesto office) and asked about the contraception, what I needed to do, etc. She was amazingly helpful and scheduled an appointment for me on 7/1/19. I walk in, there was only one person in the room. Receptionist looked very disinterested calls me over and I let her know I had an appointment, had never been there before and wasn't sure what I needed to do exactly. She tells me that they tried to call me that morning but my voicemail was full. (They did try to call but I didn't answer because 1) I was at work and 2) They said they would call as a reminder before the appointment so I assumed it was that) The receptionist tells me that the nurse was on vacation and wouldn't be in until later in the week and they would reschedule me. I was a bit annoyed but I do also think I should have been called sooner than the day off, if there was a vacation scheduled on my appointment day. I tell the receptionist I can only come in on Mondays due to my work schedule so she schedules me the following Monday (today) 7/8/19. I walk in today. Same receptionist as last time, still looked disinterested. I let her know I was there for an appointment. She tells me that they tried to call me that morning but my voicemail wasn't set up so they couldn't leave a message. (Unless they called from a blocked number, they didn't call). Receptionist lets me know that the nurse was sick and wasn't in. She offered to reschedule me (again) and at this point I just ask to cancel my appointment. First time attending this facility and being rescheduled twice doesn't leave a positive look for this facility. Thank god I didn't take time off work only for my appointments to be rescheduled. I'd rather find a PCP who cares and is consistent rather than constantly be rescheduled for who knows how long. read more

I typically wouldn't leave a review for Planned Parenthood but I received excellent service today at this location, so I HAD to. I drove from Tracy because they were able to get me in TODAY. I was taken back into the exam room promptly and helped by Nurse Practitioner Nina (I think? I feel bad because I can't remember her name!! She had the long blonde hair.). She is one of the nicest, kindest, coolest NPs I've ever met and she took her time with me and didn't make me feel rushed like I have in the past. This lady is awesome. I might continue going back to the Modesto location just so I can see her. On another note, the services Planned Parenthood offers are amazing, especially for those who do not have access or can't afford health insurance. I typically don't experience a long wait time (over 30 minutes) at any of the Planned Parenthood's if I make an appointment ahead of time, but I'm sure that varies from day to day. I don't do walk-ins so I can't speak to that. read more

I was shocked at how my request for birth control was treated. I had to go twice (each trip lasting an hour plus). When I declined the options they wanted to give me they suggested the "morning after pill". I wouldn't send my dog here and it's frightening that any young girl can rely on this group of clowns for reproductive healthcare. I love love love planned Parenthood and everything they do for everyone, so this is in no way against planned parenthood. This is regarding only the Modesto location. I have come here since I was 16 and I've always appreciated it but lately they have been slacking. Making visitors miss appointments and cancelling appointments because THEY are "running behind"? Very unpleasant especially to someone with such a busy work schedule. It's so frustrating to come in for your appointment and being told they can't take you because they are so behind yet you can see nurses behind the glass clearly standing around and goofing around. I'm so disappointed with the staff of this facility, especially the very rude front desk nurse taking her frustration about her busy day out on me... I've been going to this location for about 2 years now and It's a nice place. The staff at the check in desk is always friendly. I've had some really nice and helpful nurses/nurse assistants. But I've also had so bad ones that seem to not care or listen to your concerns. Despite that I went in around November of last year and had the same nurse twice and she was great! A previous visit here 6 years ago was great! I had no insurance and needed BC. FF to today's appointment, they apparently don't take my insurance as I have an HMO. The heavy set Mexican woman at the front desk was very rude in telling me "You have to go see YOUR doctor! Unless you want to pay for this very expensive procedure." I was so shocked at how rude she was. I think the woman sitting next to her saw this and it felt bad for me and jumped into the conversation and began to explain...which was a big help. The one thing that I didn't understand is that they had my insurance info printed out ahead of time. If they knew they couldn't take it, why wouldn't they call me and let me know so I didn't waste my time coming in? read more

I have been here numerous times and the ladies are sweet and patient. I haven't been here in a few years and I was disappointed. If you don't like your job, quit. No need to take it out on other people who are asking questions. The bigger lady was rude and hostile. I needed a medical record for the navy I'm recruiting into and I spoke on the phone with someone and they said I could go down and they'll print something out for me. She told me that it could take up to 15 days(rude tone)And I told her I called and they said you can give it to me. She said they don't know anything. I told them I need it for the navy asap. And the lady who approves it it was next to her and said she could have it done by tonight, she clearly knew it was important. They close at 7. And the lady who was being rude said if she doesn't have time to get it done today that it will be done Monday. -_- so technically Idk when I could have it. They said they'll call me if it's done today. But gosh don't be such a hag. I thought it was your job to help me not make me not want to speak to you. ****UPDATE**** I received a call from one of the lady's and she told me my record was ready. I was very pleased that they made the effort to get my record done and call me before they closer the same day. I updated my stars because when I went back to get my records the lady had a change of attitude. Maybe she was having a bad day before, who knows. I made an appointment thinking I would only have to wait a short while to see someone. It took them 2 hours after my appointment time just to "call in" a prescription to my pharmacy. I went to pick up my prescription 7 hours after I left planned parenthood and they never called it in. This was the last day I had to take for this prescription to work so needless to say even though my insurance covered it, I had to pay full price because the "nurse/doctor" didn't call it in. All in all I drove a hour to get there because my town doesn't have a planned parenthood, waited over two hours past my appointment time to see someone all for NOTHING. I sure hope they don't treat all their patients like this. Wish I would have read the yelp reciews prior to my visit. read more

DON'T GO THERE!!!! If you like waiting 5 hours to be seen even if you have an appointment. If your waiting to be seen for 3 hours and then told you have to reschedule. Then Planned Parenthood Modesto is the place to go!! I had an appointment at 10:00 AM on 7/2/09. I waited until 4:00 PM before i was seen. I would have spoken with the supervisor, but then quickly realized she was more concerned with the Hispanic patients then anyone else. I received excellent service at this Planned Parenthood. I made an appointment for 10 am on a Wednesday morning, and was out the door by 11. Not only did they give me a year's supply of pills, but they were also very friendly, encouraging, and informative. I was nervous about going in, but they made me feel very safe and confident. I would recommend it to anyone who needs confidentiality in regards to birth control/sexual health or, like many of us, have terrible health insurance. read more
