Mix of good and bad. Bad news first- Backlot parking is limited, though ymmv with street (free 2 hour) spots. The broths (we tried the Tokyo, Kyoto and Miso Vegan) just weren't seasoned enough. I'm not sure if it was an off day or close to end of day they were rich but not flavorful. My benchmark vegan broth is Ren's super flavorful ginger/onion/cabbage driven veggie broth perhaps they need a study trip there. The meats (pork skewer, chicken breast and charsu) were tasty but a bit dry despite any sousvide treatment. (Chicken katsu was an exception- that was moist and flavorful). The good- the curly noodles were spot-on, perfect cook and good chew. The toppings were amazing- just an incredible variety and depth to choose from (you can pick 5) and each uniquely cooked and seasoned. In addition to those 5, there's a second grouping of "crunchies" to choose from and add. The miso brushed grilled vegetables were generous and flavorful. The portions are a good size especially with all the toppings (you won't go hungry!), and the service friendly and attentive. The kiosk and Chipotle style format is great- you can pick pre configured or customized donburi (rice) and ramen bowls. We had lunch last week. Service was great - order at the counter and they deliver to the table. I had the shoyu ramen with chicken (build your own) and you get to choose the toppings, and my friend had the spicy miso - her broth was much more flavorful. I asked for a simple tea and the wonderful woman of this establishment took it upon themselves to spike my tea with honey, not only did I get honey for which I never asked for they added sugar but to much to where the sugar and honey mixed giving off a faucet like taste with every sip through that straw. I must say it was my first time being offered piss to wash down the shit I've ate, further more the atmosphere of the restaurant is welcoming and staff is kind but that's asian restaurants normally are. the bathroom is wonderful one of the best bathrooms I've ever seen in person or on video, well kept and maintained. read more

The food is fine, the service is good, but this place needs to work on their aesthetic. Despite my 3 star review, the reason why I don't recommend this place is due to them marketing themselves as "authentic" when it's anything but. I think a non Japanese person is perfectly capable of making authentic ramen, but the ramen here is made in a way that isn't authentically Japanese. For one, ramen always has a special kind of soft boiled egg in it that gives a particular type of flavor that complements the broth. The egg in this ramen is literally straight mush that doesn't complement the broth as well as the soft boiled eggs do. Another problem I have with this place is the ramune costing $6 even though it costs at least $2.50 everywhere else. Grocery stores, World Market, even other Japanese style restaurants typically aren't charging more than the cost of a regular soda for a ramune, which on average like $3 from my experience. I don't know if the "authentic" tagline is meant to make people believe that they're getting some kind of rare imported drink, but it feels kind of predatory. I think this place should probably just admit that it's more of a Japanese inspired fusion restaurant instead of "authentic". read more

Shibuya Eatery is a great new ramen place. I had the build your own ramen with a shoyu base and pork belly. There are a ton of options and it is also vegan friendly, my friend was very happy with her bowl. The bowl I had was very affordable for the portion I had. It was a good amount of food and I leftovers after. The pork was freshly cooked and didn't have that freezer taste that a lot of chain ramen places have. The dining room was very clean and the employees were friendly and knowledgeable. The owner Derin was super friendly and frequently checked in on us to make sure we were enjoying the food. Shibuya Eatery is a welcome addition to the neighborhood and I truly hope people come out to support it! They also take In-Kind which is super convenient. read more

I did not like my dish at all. I ordered the tofu rice bowl and the items did not go well together. The rice was clumpy, there were cold salad items in the bowl with hot items in the bowl and the vegetables didn't taste fresh and we're not well prepared. I ordered a build-your-own noodles dish specifying tofu as the protein, and what I got instead, when we got home and opened the food items up, was breaded *chicken* in the dish-- and embedded in the middle of everything. I don't eat poultry, so discovering that they made the dish completely wrong-- in a take-out meal-- where you have already driven back home, and can't take it back without completely ruining your evening-- was a complete buzzkill for me. The pork chasu was nicely charred and slightly thicker and more substantive than other places. And the mushrooms were nice. The service was good. The ambiance is okay. There's a choice of 2 different noodles, 5 made from scratch broths, including a vegan miso, 5 proteins, multiple toppings of which one can choose 5, "crunchies", flavored oil, and even garnishes! The toppings are all so savory and fresh! The soup was amazing. This is NOT your typical fast casual. The staff and service are uniformly friendly and patient. I asked for a child's meal (rice bowl) and was told that I had to be under 10 to purchase one. This was my first and very last visit, and told the server so. I drove to McDonald's and purchased a Happy Meal. SInce this is a new business, the operators should be formulating relationships to build a strong customer base in the neighborhood. I am so sorry to write this review. I went to Shibuya in November and it was excellent. But then tonight I went with my family and it was decidedly not excellent. We went for dinner and arrived at 6:30pm. We placed our orders on the screen and remembered that my mother-in-law does not like kimchi, so we asked one of the four employees to replace it with carrots instead. We were assured that it was no problem, and as we were the only ones there, we suspected that the request would be easy to remember. We took our seats. Our three ramens and one rice bowl came out about 15 minutes later. Her bowl came with kimchi not carrots. All of the ramens had cold vegetables. The broth was lukewarm. The edamame was still frozen. This was my mother-in-law's last night visiting with us so we didn't want to send the food back or make a scene. So, we spent about $100 on a pretty horrible dinner. As we pretended to enjoy our meal another customer came in, ordered the ramen, took a bite, and then asked for his money back and left. Within 20 minutes of arriving back home I became sick.
