I just noticed the new review and checked the dates and photos. This business just moved to their…read morenew location a few months ago, and I've been there. It's got cement floors and isn't very attractive inside (no carpeting, few windows, etc.). This could account for some of the messiness. But I found the staff helpful and knowledgable, as per the first review by Brooke. After I got past my first uncomfortability (I'm an older lady now, and feel a little out of place around younger service staff anymore), I was able to get good advice and was able to do some comparison shopping -- I've researched my materials ahead of time, and know what the wholesalers would sell to the public for, and the prices are fair. I didn't notice that the customers or staff were dirty, although the young'un at the counter appeared to be trying to grow a beard. As a customer, i'd like y'all to know that I'm a stable, middle class older woman, and I shower daily, wash my hands regularly and cover my mouth when I sneeze. I participate in several community volunteer activities with children, local churches and schools, I work, pay taxes and donate regularly to good causes, and I don't smoke marijuana or take any drug stronger than asprin (although I'll occasionally have a glass of wine or on occasional mixed drink with my girlfriends). I'm just letting you know this because I'm probably not the 'worst element' around ~ hahaha. When I was there, the other customers were mostly in my age and income range (by appearance). Meanwhile, if you don't know what you want before you go, it could be really confusing, since they have a huge selection and it's not real obvious what everything is for. So get someone to help you -- they'll be able to give you suggestions and answer your questions.

It is now 2:00am, and I am still awake thanks to Northern Roots "security system"…read more I live in the neighborhood behind them. Several months ago they installed a new security system to deter break ins. It is motion sensored, and I'm assuming gets set off constantly by the stray cats in this area. When it first started it scared the hell out of me and my kids. We thought it was police with a megaphone on our street. Then we thought it was maybe someone driving by with a megaphone trying to play a prank. We couldn't figure out where it was coming from. After checking in with neighbors, we figured out it was coming from Northern Roots and was also becoming a huge nuisance to all of our neighbors. I went by the business and let them know what was happening. The employees argued with me for a bit about it before agreeing to let the manager know and also informed me they wouldn't do anything about it. I asked them if they would at least have the volume turned down. I was informed "that's not how it works." Months later now all through the night and weekends it goes off constantly. "YOU ARE TRESPASSING! PLEASE LEAVE THE AREA. THIS AREA IS UNDER VIDEO SURVEILLANCE AND YOU HAVE BEEN RECORDED!" Constantly. Since earlier this evening and still continuing it has been going off every 1-3 minutes. I called the non emergency line and made a noise complaint an hour ago, but I doubt they can do anything until the business is open again. It's keeping me awake. I have to take kids to school early in the morning. Roman has to work early. I am losing my mind. So I'm going to leave reviews everywhere I can since Northern Roots doesn't seem to care about how big of a nuisance they are to their own community. Please keep this in mind next time you are choosing a hydroponic store. I will happily remove my reviews when they get a different security system. (In the time it took me to write this post, I documented how many times it went off...it has gone off TWELVE times)

I feel terrible forgetting the name now but anyways, he was passing by with inventory in a cart and asked if we needed help. We really did need help so he stopped what he was doing, looked for the item then ended up using his handy phone to look it up the specific item in store to make sure it was in stock or not. HD ended up not having that specific item but the associate was able to guide us towards an alternative! I love that customer service. We didn't know of others so it was nice that he listened to what we're looking for and gave us a recommendation. It was much appreciated so thank you!

This location is on Churn Creek, just north of where it crosses the 44 freeway. Just go north past the McDonald's an it's on the left, can't miss it! Parking was easy enough. We go in and OK, where do we look for what we want. There supposed to be some staff or something to help out but couldn't get anyone. So we wander down some asiles and don't see what we want. OK, I see the tool area, so we go over there. No one to help either. I did manage to find the chain saws, really big ass ones too that might chop my foot off with. I just wanted a little hand held job. I found a couple of options, but wow, these prices are a bit high, OK, higher that I wanted to pay for something I'm gonna use just occasionally. I'm not some pro landscaper. I did look on Amazon and those prices seemed more in line for an occasional user like me. Oh, well, we outta here. I'll say service is severely lacking here, but I guess you know that going into it.
