a plate of food with meat, potatoes, bread, and gravy

This restaurant is what dreams are made of. The biggest shame is that they don't do a breakfast bar sausages, bacon, eggs, grits, country, ham biscuits, etc. The ladies that work there are the friendliest friendliest people you ever meet in your life they recognize you when you come in if they know that you drink a lot of sweet tea they leave a picture on the table for you. Everyone that walks into this place acknowledges each other with a nod or hello. The food is always always terrific. They change the menu every day and add different things on each day. Thursday is in my opinion the best day because they do Thanksgiving, turkey and dressing and gravy and veg and it's just wonderful wonderful wonderful! I hope they stay in business for another 50 years and wish them all the success in the world!

I have been going to the Plantation Buffet almost every Friday for a pretty long time. I love fried fish above almost anything and that's what's on the menu every Friday. When stupid Covid hit of course we stopped going. I only went back last Friday for the first time since then. I have been living out of state on and off for several months. They had self-serve plastic plastic tableware dispensers set up at the beginning of the line next to the plates. You were required to wear a plastic glove to go through the buffet line, also supplied. I got in the food line, which wasn't very long, and made my way to the buffet. The first thing on the line is the fried fish and the tray was empty. I was disappointed, but I also know that they'll fill it up soon enough. So I went through the line and got the sides that I wanted. I took my plate to a table and came right back to check on the fish. Still empty so I caught a cooks attention and asked about it. He told me just a couple minutes on the fish. After just a couple minutes he caught e eye and beckoned me over. He has added fish to the buffet but had pulled a platter out for me!! Yay!! So sweet! The next thing on the food bar is their fried chicken. I usually get at least a leg when I go there because it is so very good. But you know, I'm here for the fish. The there is also baked chicken if that's what you like, but I've never tried it. So I went t through the line and got the sides that I wanted. The macaroni and cheese is pretty good, with a cheesy, crusty top. I like the mashed potatoes and sometimes put the gravy on them too. It is brown gravy from the Salisbury Steak tray. I like the turnip greens and I especially like the white beans with my fish. They have quite a few sides but I can't remember them all right now. I can just tell you about what I get and like. At the end of the hotline is the bread. I don't usually get bread so I don't know what is usually offered. I'm pretty sure there are rolls and probably some cornbread. On fish day they serve hush puppies too. After the hot food line there is a cold case, where you'll find the cold salads. I can't really tell you what they have because I don't get anything there except the slaw. Slaw just goes with fried fish, don't you think? The cold case is where you'll find your tartar sauce too. The servers will ask your drink order and you'll likely have it by the time you sit down. They'll keep your glass full too. The Plantations Buffet has been open for many years in the same location. It is a local favorite and a place we send people to when they're from out of town. They are only open until two for lunch so if you want to visit, make sure you're hungry and on time.

    Nothing but good food.

A total enjoyment eating lunch on Fridays at plantation Buffet. Caught E Caught E Eye

OK it is crazy that I can recall this building and restaurant from 1986 when I graduated UGA…read more However I have never been here before that I can remember. I wanted some Chinese food today and after a brief Yelp search we decided that today we would go to Peking! The name itself is old school, how long ago has it been since Beijing took over? The outside of the building sure looks like a 1970's - 80's Chinese restaurant. The interior continues the retro look, and is exactly what I was hoping to see. The certificate of occupancy at the entrance says 1988 but I am certain there has been a restaurant here for longer. Ok on to the food. Yelpers say there is a huge menu here. That must be for dinner. The lunch menu has all your basic and expected Chinese menu items as a lunch combo. The TLDR is the food was good but not great, everything needed more seasoning. Our combos started with hot and sour soup with the required chips. The soup was sour yes, but could have used some more spice. My general Tso chicken came out hot and crispy. Seemed to be all white meat but was cooked a little too long so not exactly tender and juicy. The sauce was red and sweet. Sometimes the General adds some vegetables, but not today. Although the menu had the hot pepper symbol by this item, no spice detected. The rice was fine, seemed to be lightly stir fried with egg bits. The egg roll was a limp instrument with some kind of meat in it. It tasted fine. Megan had the beef and broccoli. There was plenty of both beef and broccoli and other veggies included. The problem again was lack of seasoning. The meal was sauced together with a bland tan gravy like you might put on some roast beef. Even though her plate said "Peking" on it, Megan did not like her meal so we split my huge chicken plate, which she liked a lot. This lunch was a good example of the old "the food is not great but the portions are huge" saw. Service was not fast but was ok. I would give this another try for dinner, but probably not lunch.

Love Peking since I was little. My family has always come here and never had any issues or…read morecomplaints. Authentic Chinese cuisine. The service is always good. The restaurant is very friendly and also Chinese cultural designs. Have to try it yourself ! Huge hole in the spot even though the place is literally a kingdom. 10/10

My husband and I visited Porterhouse Grill for our anniversary. We experienced outstanding customer…read moreservice, and the cocktails and steak were amazing. Our waitress was attentive, and she made the best cocktails. The mashed potatoes, the crème brûlée, and the cheesecake were good. My husband loved the garlic bread, but I thought it was too salty. I did not love the steamed veggies. I felt they were overcooked and over-seasoned. I would have had a better experience if my reservation note had been considered for where we were sited. It was a special occasion for my husband and me, and we were sat at the first table from the entrance, in front of the bar, when the restaurant only had seven guests. It was cold outside, and every time the door opened, I felt the wind come in. We were sited immediately next to another couple, and it was a table set for four people when it was a date for two. I understand the need to make a reservation, but why would the restaurant ask what the occasion is if the staff will not consider a special setup for the occasion? Porter House Grill gets a 5 out of 5 because it is a steakhouse, and their steaks are absolutely delicious. Additionally, their cocktails are amazing, and Customer Service was terrific, Porter House does not have a private parking lot; consider bringing quarters for street parking, or you may use a parking garage nearby. Cons: Porter House does not consider your reservation notes to make a guest's special occasion memorable.

Our experience at Porterhouse Grill was disappointing from beginning to end…read more When we arrived, our waitress commented that it was "really busy for a Tuesday." The restaurant was bustling, but there were still empty tables and an unused back section. Regardless, the restaurant appeared overwhelmed by the customers it did have. Upon entering, I noticed an old, aged smell and visible black/brown grease or grime buildup on the vent hood near the kitchen pass-through. Our appetizers were fine. The problems began with our entrées. About 30 minutes after ordering, we were told several steaks we'd ordered weren't available and had to change our orders. Approximately ANOTHER 30 minutes later, we were told additional steak selections were unavailable, requiring more changes. One person attempted to order surf and turf but was told to order a steak and add lobster instead. The lobster add-on alone was approximately $70, yet what arrived wasn't an identifiable lobster tail--it was pieces placed over the steak. Based on the size and taste, the person who ordered it compared it more to crayfish and questioned whether it was actually lobster. Service was extremely disorganized. FIVE different people checked on our table while our actual waitress appeared to disappear for over an hour. Eventually everyone received food except one person. We learned his meal had apparently been delivered to a table seated after us. After approximately an hour without food, something was finally brought to him--but it STILL WASN'T HIS ORDER. He was apparently given the other table's meal instead. By then everyone else had eaten, and his food ended up being taken to go. When our waitress was asked about his missing meal, she simply said it would be out in a minute and was very nonchalant. That attitude continued throughout dinner. When asked why online menu pricing differed from the restaurant, she casually said the online information was outdated and being updated. At another point, water was spilled at our table without even an "excuse me." When someone in our party clearly had questions about the bill, she repeatedly walked by without addressing him. She was eventually given the card for payment and never returned. After approximately 15 minutes, he had to go to the front and pay with someone else. We also watched similar problems happen around us. A nearby table sat unattended for approximately 45 minutes before a waiter apologized and admitted he hadn't told anyone they were there. After finally ordering drinks, one woman received something different because an employee had apparently decided to make her a different drink instead. Another waitress later apologized and offered to make what she'd actually ordered. We saw other customers waiting without food, drinks, or attention, and some eventually left. We could also hear confusion between staff and the kitchen about which orders should or shouldn't be prepared. Porterhouse Grill isn't inexpensive, and the price tag should fit the delivery. This wasn't one isolated mistake. It was repeated unavailable items, long waits, incorrect orders, absent and dismissive service, visible disorganization, and problems affecting multiple tables throughout the evening. The appetizers were fine. Unfortunately, almost everything that followed was not.
