Overall, my experience at the China star buffet was a positive one! The building from the outside honestly looks a little sketchy. I was skeptical going in, but is soon as you open the doors it is clean, pretty, and has a nice atmosphere. We got a table right away during lunchtime and we had no problem getting service. For lunch the price was about eight dollars which I think is very reasonable for a buffet. There was lots of items to choose from, including a vast choice of sushi, and before hibachi Grill made to order. There was one time soup, (one of my favorites), dumplings, a salad bar, and plenty of chicken and rice. The buffet says there are over 300 items... I honestly highly doubt that unless you count literally every single thing including all the different salad dressings they offer at the salad bar. But they still had a lot of choices! Even pizza...which is always a little funny to find pizza at a Chinese resturant. There is also plenty of parking nearby. Has hibachi and sushi and 4 soups, as well as several hot entree selections and salad bar. Food: 4/5 We liked the fresh sesame green beans (cooked just right-not overdone). Folks in our group also liked gyoza pot stickers, teriyaki chicken, chicken on a stick, custard cups, several of the spicy hot dishes, and the white fish. Paid to eat In 2 adults and 2 kids . Me and my boyfriend ate one plate and to be clear not even a full plate our kids split a plate of noodles. I had my food to be prepared from the cook I receive the plate the noodles where hard all I could eat was the shrimp I had along with the noodle . We Weren't even there 30 mins . As We walk to the front to to pay I ask the lady to repeat the total and I went over what I was paying for and the lady was rude . This place doesn't need to be open. There is no way that the Heath Department would allow this establishment to stay open. The holding food temps are worrisome as I sampled several different items and it was all room temperature or colder. And they were mixing hot food just cooked with the cold food. Came here on Christmas day for a late lunch. My husband and I were not in the cooking mood, plus...the new Star Wars movie was on our agenda! Called ahead to make sure they were open and then headed their way! Arrived to a crazy packed house! - packed in a good way! Sat down and got our drinks and then headed to the buffet! They were doing seafood! All the food we ate was amazing!!! My favorites were the garlic green beans, potstickers, and the steamed buns filled with sweet curd! Oh and the seafood??! So good!! They had some spicy clams...in some sort of brown sauce .. so good!!! One thing I do wish to make the experience stronger is having tools to crack crab etc. I had to hunt one down... They should really have one per table during the seafood special days. With that being said, this was an amazing place... I have always been an Eastside Peking girl...but now that they are closed...I gotta find a new place... Guess what... Think I might have found it!!! Pretty decent buffet, with all the standard items. They have a hibachi and sushi section as well. The cost was $26 for lunch dinner for two, which is pretty standard as well. I've eaten here for years but last night I had my first disappointing experience. The food quality was low to mediocre. It seemed all the meats (chicken, steak) were tough and grisly. The flavors were not as sharp. Their hot and sour soup was OK but they now use such small bowls that the spoon almost doesn't fit. This is the second time I've seen they've down-sized their soup bowls. Soup is cheap; not sure why they do this. Their salads which I normally like were not up to par either. I even tried the salmon, just cooked, and it didn't taste all that good either. We ate there 3 months ago and it seemed okay then. Maybe they have new chefs? Or, are they just cutting costs in ways that affect their food quality? I've noticed their price for the buffet has not gone down. I may give them one more chance. I went in there today for a late lunch/early dinner with my boyfriend. The restaurant was fairly clean. There were a lot of choices for foods. They had everything from fried rice, to sushi, to hibachi. Since I went in there in between lunch and dinner, I got to see lunch and dinner menu. Dinner menu was separated/distinguished from lunch menu by a sign that read "For Dinner Customers Only." I'm not sure how they distinguish "dinner" guest with "lunch" guest. There wasn't anything too special about this restaurant. It's just like any other Chinese buffets. Super Americanized, super salty, and etc. They have pre-packaged ice cream, which you have to pay for, and a chocolate fondue mountain which doesn't look too appetizing. My boyfriend and I paid the lunch price, which came out to be $16 (we didn't get soft drinks). Oh yeah, don't get their steamed crab. It tasted like death. read more

There are plenty of options for things like mac & cheese, french fries, jello, and fried plantains, but few actual Chinese food options. The options that are available are pretty dismal. The actual food is flavorless except for sugar, which is in abundance in everything I tried. My rommie and I came here during the *hurricane* because our power was out and there weren't many places open. I will admit that by the looks of it, the food did look really good. Unfortunately that was deception at its finest. Once we returned home and I bit into my sesame chicken, it was gray and tasted rancid. The beef literally had the consistency of beef jerky. The fillings of my dumplings also tasted super old. We ended up throwing everything out and eating salsa for the night.... Ahh the chinese buffet. When the tastebuds take a front seat to your stomach and welcomes in food that beats your guts down in a way that only Ike Turner could be proud of. When we lived in Athens until about 8 months ago, Kimberley and I would stop here almost once a week and indulge ourselves. Its a quick in and out, with much to offer. The chinese food is okay, nothing outstanding but you get your chinese fix. Theres a hot grill that will cook up anything you like that they have to offer. The cook at the grill is always friendly. The sushi bar barely is qualified to call itself a sushi bar, but it still works and i love it anyway. We loved the randomness of the place. The chinese lady roaming the dining room yelling in chinese into a microphone adds to the charm. I wish this place had that 80's inner city chinese restaurant decor. that would make things perfect. The music playing overhead is an odd mix. You have to love a chinese place that plays guns n roses deep cuts while you're having dinner or lunch, or that meal you eat in the middle of the afternoon when you're baked beyond belief. My Sister and I went to Chinese Buffet for lunch. Today as we went to the buffet and got our meal and returned to table. We started to eat however I stopped when i found a roach bug on my food. I got sick to my stomach immediately and my sister called the waiter to the table. We informed her of the problem and told her we were leaving. Both of us was sick knowing we had been eating off the buffet with roach in food. We got up to leave because and was told we still owed for 2 meals. I told them we would not pay for the contaminated food and walked out. I have never been so shocked at the Buffet reaction to our situation. No Apology for from the Buffet Management. This place boasts the biggest Chinese buffet in Athens. But as has been seen many a time, bigger is not better. The food is only okay, because it's a bit greasy. It's a cheap meal though. The staff is pleasant. The interior is typical for a Chinese place but you have to deal with these giant flat screen TVs like you were at a sports bar or something. One thing to keep in mind, they have a policy that says if you leave 15% or more on your plate, they add on a charge for it. So only don't overfill your plate. read more
