The food was fine. And the drinks were good--they didn't seem to skimp on the alcohol, because I was pretty buzzed after a couple and glad I had plenty of time to chat and eat and burn it of. (Though who knows, maybe it's just that I haven't had more than a glass or two of wine in over two years.) The service was relatively competent and not too overbearing... though they brought the wrong item for me and the server came back with it within a minute or so, so I'm really hoping they didn't take it to someone else's table and bring it back to me. The most glaring issue is that it's really expensive. I'm not sure the food justifies this sort of price. I'd rather go to my favorite brunch place, in Andersonville, and leave with a smaller bill. And their menu seemed smaller than I anticipated. If not for the pleasant company with a couple friends it would have been a bummer of a meal. The menu was somewhat small, and I only found one, possibly two, things I would want to order. This was for brunch, though; perhaps their main menu is more extensive. The parking along main can be sparse since there's a lot of restaurants and businesses here, and that parking gets even more constrained during the spring or summer when most of the parking spaces are taken by outdoor seating. But there are at least one or two parking lots a block or two away which is for Metra and is often pretty empty. There's also three-hour parking near the library and along Prospect, and the Metra station is directly across from the restaurant. read more

I normally don't leave reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience. The food was good, and we enjoyed the outdoor patio atmosphere. I was even telling my family that I'd happily come back because we enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, the service changed my opinion. We were celebrating my birthday, and when my dessert arrived, the candle wasn't lit; the server simply handed it to us and walked away. What made it more disappointing was watching her spend time trying to light the candle for another birthday celebration while making no effort at our table. It may seem like a small gesture, but it would have made the occasion feel special. The inattentiveness continued throughout the meal. We rarely saw our server, and when we did, her interactions felt rushed and unfriendly. It genuinely seemed as though she did not want to be there, and that attitude came through in her service. I'll be honest: seeing the difference in treatment made me uncomfortable. I don't want to assume or suggest that it was racially motivated, and I'm not trying to go that route. However, it almost felt that way in the moment. I trust my intuition, and throughout the experience my family and I did not feel welcomed. I've lived in Illinois for 8 years, and this was honestly one of the worst service experiences I've had at a restaurant. While the food and atmosphere were enjoyable, the poor service overshadowed the entire visit. I hope management takes customer service more seriously because the restaurant itself has potential. Been here twice now for the team dinner. They have a bar section which is perfect for the gathering and mingling. They gave the decent choices for the group. My favorite is teriyaki cauliflowers. They have the big windows next to the sidewalk. And lots of folks sat outside to enjoy the weather. Always enjoyed the services here. Delayed posting from a few weeks ago... Went here for a group dinner for work. We arrived with a slightly larger group than expected and a bit earlier than our reservation. The manager quickly got us the space we needed for our party and had us seated promptly. Our waitress was friendly and efficient, quickly getting our orders for drink and appetizers put in. Pennyville Station pays homage to the town's former name from the early 1900s. The outside patio is adjacent to the train tracks, which adds to the restaurant's moniker. We sat on the outside patio and the weather was perfect for it in early September. With such a large group, there were plenty of appetizers to share across the table. The mussels appetizer was delicious and tender. I could've drank the flavorful white wine and garlic sauce. Perfect pairing with the mussels. I also enjoyed the crispy Brussels sprouts with bacon. I ordered the salmon entree. It was served over a cauliflower rice, pilaf style. The salmon was moist and perfectly seasoned. The corn in the cauliflower rice added a touch of sweetness. My friends and I met up for brunch here and had a great time. We had a semi big group(10 in total) and they easily accommodated us. We have a reservation and called to push it up and it was no problem. I LOVE the ahi tuna nachos. I wish I would have just ordered it as my main dish! I ordered the lump crab eggs Benedict and a mimosa. The eggs b was very good. Lots of crab and very flavorful. My toddler accompanied me and I ordered her fries and a side of bacon and two scrambled eggs. The fries basket was very big and tasty. First of all, many things from before are not on the menu anymore, and the ones are there- their prices can compare to downtown's prices. :-( even though I am usually not paying attention to that, this time it was sooo obvious, that I had to notice it. This place has gone downhill. Went in tonight with my son, got a chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries. The sandwich was bland and burnt; chicken was dry. The fries were room temperature, so I don't know how long they were sitting there. I didn't eat them. When I told the waitress, the manager didn't come over to apologize or anything. They "graciously" took the up charge off my bill for the sweet potato fries and gave us a free dessert that I didn't want and was probably just laying around. Be patient as pedestrians are walking, and you may have to park a block or two away. They have daily drink specials and offer seasonal cocktails as well. My friend had the scallops and he enjoyed them. Service was incredibly slow. It took our server 25 minutes (yes, I timed) for our server to just take our drink order. Walking around Park Ridge and decided to stop by. The location was open on July 4 which I was surprised. We got seated right away. The decor inside is really nice, it doesn't all go together well but I like that, gives it some old time esthetic. 2 Small Caesar salads: 10/10 super good dressing could tell it's house made and loved the shaved parmesan. Fish and Chips 10/10, the best I've had yet. Light and airy with flavoring. The tartar sauce went so well with it it wasn't too overpowering and of course the slaw and fries were very very good. Had to bring leftovers. Wagyu Burger 8/10, flavors were very good. The meat was cooked medium but the mistake made was putting the chipotle mayo on the burger. If we hadn't done that it would have been perfect. Fries were also good. Had a ginger beer and a coke on the side they were very good. Service was amazing and will be coming back read more

The outdoor patio had a really nice, chill vibe--perfect for a sunny day. We started with the lemon basil hummus served with watermelon radish and pita. It was delicious, and I especially loved the whole chickpeas for a little added texture. I had the salmon burger and swapped the bun for sourdough to make it open-faced--highly recommend. I also subbed in sweet potato fries for a little extra, but they were totally worth it: crispy on the outside, soft on inside. (Unpictured: my husband had the carved turkey sandwich and loved it!) If I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would. I'm not someone who normally leaves negative reviews or posts publicly about bad experiences at restaurants. If something goes wrong, I usually just move on and don't go back. But what happened at Pennyville Station in Park Ridge--twice now--has been extremely disappointing and upsetting, especially given how meaningful this event is for our family. Back on October 29, 2024, I reserved the Nook Room at Pennyville for my daughter's First Communion on May 3, 2025. It seats 18 people, and I booked it for 16--our close family. I asked if a deposit was needed, and they said no, that my reservation of the room was sufficient. Since then, my husband and I have called several times to confirm, and each time, we were assured the reservation was in place. Just two weeks before the event, I received a call today (day before a Holiday)--not even from the owner--informing me that they can no longer give us the private room and are offering just a table instead. They already ruined our other child's baptism years ago, when the table was too small and the experience was unfortunately very disappointing. This is the exact reason why I booked the private space since just having a table didn't give us the space we needed last time. We reserved the Nook Room so we could have privacy and space for the family event. Apparently, a 60-70 party was booked after ours, and since they're bringing in more money and left a deposit, the space is being given to them instead. We were told there was nothing they could do and that this decision was final. When my husband went to speak in person, the owner reportedly said, "It is what it is." We tried to explain how important this day is to our daughter and our family, but there was no effort made to find a solution. I'm sharing this because I want others to be aware in case they're planning an event there, and also because I'm now scrambling to find another space for 16 people with only two weeks to go. For what it's worth, every server we've had at Pennyville has been kind and professional. This experience has been strictly an issue with management decisions. We were really looking forward to trying Pennyville Station for the first time, but unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. Our server, Juan, seemed less than enthusiastic from the start. One of the serving dishes we received still had food particles on it--not a huge deal, these things happen--but when I politely asked for a clean one, he silently took it and brought another back without so much as an apology or acknowledgment. A simple, "I'm so sorry about that, let me get you a clean one right away," would've gone a long way. After finishing our meals, he came by briefly to ask if everything was okay. We said yes, thinking he'd offer dessert or ask if we needed anything else--but he just walked off. We had to call him back to let him know we wanted crème brûlée. It just felt like we were an afterthought, which was surprising given that it was mid-afternoon and only two other tables were seated with two servers working. The food itself was good--no complaints there--but we specifically came for the king crab, which they were unfortunately out of. That was disappointing but understandable. What's harder to overlook is the poor service. Being in the service industry myself, I know how important those small moments of care and attentiveness are. That's what keeps people coming back. Came here on a unseasonably warm 65-degree day in Chicago March. They had outdoor seating, and an area of the bar, where they had giant windows opened to the outside. We opted to sit indoors, but still have the benefits of fresh air, minus the somewhat busy foot traffic and loud Metra outside. The place has a decent sized bar, and friendly staff. We shared a chicken sandwich, which was phenomenal. Washed it down with the house margarita. This guy, is a pro-salt on the rim guy, and this place did not disappoint. Pennyville is so beautiful, especially by the big patio doors! Drinks were delicious! The "cool as a cucumber" with a touch of elderflower liquor was perfection! I ordered the chopped salad and truffle fries for food, and thought both were good! Pretty big portions, even though I only got a half salad. Service was super sweet, and I'm pretty sure the owner was there the night we visited, too, which was good to see. The ONLY weird thing was that they started closing down the restaurant (all the chairs on the table around us were placed up, bill came early, etc) when we were still there. We thought we had overextended our stay, but it was 8:24 and they supposedly close at 10:00pm. We popped down the block for another drink because we felt a little uncomfortable. The one at my place setting was china made in Japan- my grandmother's era if I had to guess. The food is farm to table and so fresh. The fries reminded me of fries I had growing up. Delicious. I had the salmon burger. It was so scrumptious with grilled onions and some type of avocado or aioli sauce. The coffee was really good, too. As a picky coffee drinker, I didn't expect such an amazing cup of coffee from a restaurant that doesn't specialize in coffee. I want to go back to try the beet salad and dessert. Hey All hope you're all well. Tonight a ride on the Harley took me to this very nice place. Friday night was busy but the hostess was able to seat our party. Food was very good. I had salmon and washed that down with a slice of key lime pie for dessert :) Our server was Emily and she could have been more personable.
