I got sent here by my insurance after a deer accident. Simple process to drop off the car. The evaluation took a while to get sent to me. I was initially quoted 2 weeks, with sporadic automated updates that it on schedule, however the day before scheduled pickup it was extended a week. I called them, glen said that he had meant to call, as their supplier sent them used parts. I'm not sure how the auto body industry works, but I'm sure that they should have ordered new parts, so that was odd. Again, it was delayed, and I had to call them to see why. And, again, they had received the wrong parts, but he was sure they'd come in that night & I could pickup the next day. I waited for my call, but it never came, so I called the following week, and was told one more day should suffice. Two weeks turned into 29 days. When I picked up the car, I was amazed to see (not glen, nor the "guys in the back" (who had just checked everything was in order) that the front driver's side tire was very low on air. It was very evident. The low tire alert was on the dash. Glen made the excuse that I probably had a slow leak, as if that made any sense. They wanted to return it back that way? That night, driving back at night, we noticed that the head lamps were facing close to the front of the car, so I could only see 4-5 feet in front of me. In an area with few street lights, that's an accident waiting to happen. Also, the alignment was off. I called them, dropped off the car, & left it with them for a week. They said they worked on it for 1.5 days in the shop. That very night, we noticed that nothing had changed with the lights (as seen in the photos). I called my insurance, and had them move me to another mechanic. The lack of timeliness, ability to keep me updated, using poor suppliers, and especially the lack of detail deserve a 1 star. The second star is due to how my car looks exactly as it did before the accident, on the visual aesthetic they did a great job. However, I value safety and dependability over a pleasing visual. At my Toyota dealership now, 185 (paid by insurance thankfully) to fix the headlights. Apparently platinum just got their hands on some parts & slapped them on the car without checking quality. After experiencing a fender bender while traveling to visit family, we brought our car by Platinum close to closing time on Dec. 23 to see if they could fix it enough for us to drive home. They were the only body shop the area to agree to do this. For no charge, they slipped loose sections back into place and removed ones at risk of falling off. They advised us to tape the damaged area with gorilla tape and said it was safe to drive the car home via highways. They did this quickly and at no charge. Thank you, Platinum! Rude when I tried to schedule the estimate, he chided me for not knowing how the Nationwide process works. Rude when I showed up for the estimate, as scheduled at 0800, when the business opens, he told me I was early and would have to wait a half hour - despite there being no other customers present. Clearly a dude who enjoys antagonizing others. Not a good sign for the type of work I could expect. Since I had a work meeting to make, I canceled and I am taking my business elsewhere. I've been coming to this shop for as long as I've owned my car and they've made it look brand new after I had my first and only accident. I was driving on ice for the first time ever and slid into a curb hard enough to break my steering wheel upon impact while trying to turn away. They managed to fix every bit of damage and the car drove exactly as it did before the crash! I've come to them before as well to have a huge scar on the front of the car (on the headlight and bumper) from when I was a brand new driver and scraped it at a gas station on the cement guards. And then there was an incident where a drunk driver backed into my car in the lot at a bar and they did a perfect job replacing it. My tail light went out shortly after so I brought the car back to have the wires looked at to see if something was knocked loose but It was actually just burnt out and my dumbass didn't change the bulb right (I made a mess of things by putting the wrong bulbs in the wrong places lmao) but they fixed my mess and replaced the bulb at no charge! I never love my car being messed up but I never dread the process of getting it fixed because of these guys. They're always very sweet and I never feel like they're trying to scam me even with my very limited knowledge on cars. Richie is the best, he always puts a huge smile on my face whenever I visit with his charismatic and personable attitude. Our car was rear ended and we have bumper damage. They were able to give me an appointment to assess the damages in a timely manner and offer an appointment to do the repair very quickly. Once I gave them the claim number for the accident, they handled the contact with the insurance company which I was grateful for. They sent a detailed cost estimate and did the repair the time that they predicted it would take. My car is a 2020 and looks good as new. Excellent work on my vehicle. This place is now officially my new go-to body shop! I had an unfortunate incident that led to the driver's side mirror on my Jaguar F-Pace needing to be completely replaced. I told my insurer, Nationwide, that I wanted to go here based off their location (not far from my house) and reviews. I've been disappointed in the past when I've chosen a service provider that way, but I'm SO glad I chose Platinum. Before Platinum, I had stopped by another Autobody shop nearby theirs which specialized in autobody repair of only Jaguar/Land Rover vehicles; that shop owner, while great on the phone, made it seem [when talking to me in-person] we were going to have jump through rings of fire in order to get Nationwide to cover the repair. That shop owner's shop area was filthy, unkempt, disorganized, and the guy wasted nearly an hour of my time calling the nearby Jaguar dealership (which, funny enough, had recommended I go there); I found that odd and frustrating...& due to my previous naïveté RE: luxury vehicles, I thought any experience at any autobody shop was going to be that way. Therefore, I left the side mirror issue alone for awhile due to my travel schedule (and well, life!), it took me nearly month to let Nationwide know I wanted to go to Platinum. From the moment I walked through Platinum's door, these people put me at ease. Their front shop reception area was organized and unbelievably clean. All staff who walked in and out smiled and were professional. Joe and Mimi were the easiest to work with. Kind, understanding, non-judgmental, and communicated incredibly well with me in-person, on phone, and in email. Mimi explained everything about payment & timing in a way that made total sense. My part was ordered - it arrived in less than a week - and my job was done in one day. This was all around the hustle & bustle of the Independence Day holiday, too! Coordination with insurance was incredibly impressive. And every aspect of my rental car experience via Enterprise was superb & easily coordinated by Joe. My entire experience with Platinum was seamless and anything but stressful. The guy who did my repair greeted me with a smile and even buffed out some other places on my vehicle that had some paint transfer -- that was unrelated to the side view mirror repair and he did not have to do that. I was ecstatic because the gentleman at the last place brought it up like it was going to affect my insurance claim in a negative way). Another gentlemen at Platinum, who was walking by, quickly helped my mom with opening the trunk door & offered to carry stuff as we were shifting things from rental back to my vehicle; again, something he did not have to do. I was delighted by how much all the people I encountered at Platinum made it seem like they cared that I was there! In a world where most service providers seem to have forgotten customer service means making the customer feel 'at home' -- I cannot sing their praises enough. I felt valued, not inconvenienced in the slightest (when most car repair incidents have always made me feel that way), and most importantly: I felt like these folks valued my vehicle and my patronage of their business. I hope not to have to visit these folks again (come on, who really wants any issues with their vehicles?!), but should I ever have any future needs - I won't look any further! read more

I took my BMW X3 Series to Platinum AutoBody in Sterling, Virginia after an accident causing front/bumper damage. It was my insurance companies "preferred vendor" = "Cheapest". My vehicle repair costs were estimated at approximately $2200. I was told that my car should be completed within a few days as they had BMW certified mechanics, (ha) ---4 Weeks later, alas my car is ready to be returned to me- amazingly the estimate has now turned into a bill to my insurance company for $5300. (Apparently under the bumper they had to replace radiator housing, motor mounts & 10 pages of other line items). On pick-up of my vehicle "Mimi" advised me that I needed REAR brake pads and this the reason for the brake light. After receiving my car back , I immediately noticed my vehicles steering wheel and front end shaking upon acceleration when hitting approx. 40mph. (This shaking was not there prior to the accident, nor after the accident), as my vehicle was drivable and I drove it to the shop. Only after the "repair" did the shaking commence. Not only did I have to argue with them about the issue commencing due to their repair being the issue & getting another rental car; I had to resort to calling nationwide to have them reopen the claim for platinum's poor repair work. Of course nationwide contacted them to have a rental car arranged, and I then returned my vehicle to platinum to correct their issue. Platinum Auto Body just called me and told me that it had nothing to do with their repair- the mysterious shaking on my vehicles acceleration - that appeared only after their repair- but that the shaking has to do with FRONT END pads & rotors- that amazingly were not a problem prior to the "repair"***(what happened to your previous advice for "rear end brake pads?). Any mechanic with any knowledge would tell you that if it were a rotor problem like they insisted - The shaking would commence on BRAKING and not acceleration. Not only that- during their short 7 minutes of "test" driving my vehicle- resulted in giving me a bonus prize!!!! I participate in nationwide's smartride program that gives you a discount for a good driving habits- I've had no incidences of poor driving habits since the onset of the program - except for the short 10 minutes they drove my car to which resulted in three (3) hard braking's / fast acceleration incidents- so my advice: definitely go there if you want: poor service- poor professionalism- Poor repairs - Poor estimates- and lack of care for your vehicle. And one more bonus prize- my manufactures BMW front plate was not replaced because Platinum AutoBody gets all of its placement parts at the local junkyard and they told me I would have to order one myself. See for yourself go to Platinum AutoBody and review your final bill and you'll see exactly where they get all of their parts. Oh and one last update- Platinum AutoBody then advised my insurance company that my after-market directional tires were rotating in the wrong direction and THAT was also the cause of the steering wheel shaking upon acceleration. REALLY??? So, after your "Repair" to my front-end, my directional tires changed direction and made my steering wheel shake? Suffice to say - my vehicle will NEVER be going back to Platinum- my Insurance company advised me to take it to another shop for diagnosis. Ya think??? BTW platinum autobody advised me next time I should hit the deer rather then the mailbox. Maybe PETA will have something to say about that. read more

I Had purchased a new vehicle just a few weeks before, and some untinking person has swung their car door hard against my passenger side front door. there was a scrape high on the door, and a significant dent that cut through the pain down to the bare metal. Platinum was able to repair the damage so well that I was not able to tell the difference between the damaged area and the undamaged area. the price was very reasonable and while I hope I never need their services again, if I do, I will be going back to have any future damage repaired. read more

Just had a new front, left bumper fairing put on my 2010 Matrix here. I visited 5 body shops in the area and chose platinum based on their initial estimate which matched prices I had researched online and professionalism. The good: Seems like work was done well so far; paint matches the original color and fairly is sturdily mounted. Everyone was very professional and courteous. Work was done quickly and on time. The bad (I think): Initial quote was for 250; 164 for parts, 30 for paint, 46 for labor. I allowed Platinum to order the parts based on this estimate; I brought my car in 4 days later and the work was done that afternoon. Final total was for 327; 230 for parts, 30 for paint, 46 for labor, 7.50 waste disposal. Increase in part cost of $66 dollars is itemized below. LT Spoiler $120.39 -- $120.39 LT Spoiler Trim (2 pieces of flex. plastic) $19.48 -- $38.96 LT Spoiler Clip $1.20 -- $29.12 Spoiler Retainer $13.44 -- $38.41 Spoiler Fastener $10.02 -- $3.60 So apparently between creating my estimate and ordering parts the cost of spoiler trim was doubled (literally exactly multiplied by 2), the cost of a spoiler clip went from 1.20 to 29.12 (a 2400% increase), and the spoiler retainer went from $13.44 to 38.41 (more than double). I allow you to come to your own conclusions, maybe this is normal. John, a very pleasant service writer, explained that until they order the parts they don't know how much they will cost. At no point before I came to pick up my car was I made aware there was any change in part cost. read more

I had my car towed to Platinum Auto Body after I struck a deer in October and had some considerable damage to my BMW 3 series. They said they could fix the damage and had a certified BMW mechanic on staff so everything would be good. Although things started off ok, I was a little surprised at the lack of updates on my car's status. I ended up calling ever week to get an update and routinely got the same answer of "we're just waiting on a couple of parts, but you should have it by X day." X Day came and went several times until I finally got my car back the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, a full 30 days later. The car looked ok and seemed to be ok driving home, although just as I was pulling in a light came on that I now know to be my coolant light. I figured it was low on coolant and planned to pick some up the next work day. I never got the chance as my car overheated on my way to work. After limping home, I had my car towed to an actual BMW dealer (I wasn't going to wait another 30 days for my car to be refixed by Platinum with little or no updates). The dealer called me that day and told me the car had been put back together wrong and described the repaired radiator as a "hack job." I ended up spending another $1300 to have Platinum's poor workmanship fixed. Thankfully, I didn't end up doing any long term engine damage thanks to lack of coolant. I contacted Platinum and my insurance that paid them the remaining $4600 for the repair. At the least I expected them to refund me part of the repair cost since they had messed up in the first place. After a short discussion with the location manager Gregg who blamed everything on the insurance company, I asked for his boss Richie to call me. Several weeks later I have heard nothing. I am now working with my credit card company to refund the deductible ($500) I paid Platinum and have asked my insurance company to add them to a "do not use" list. I highly recommend people steer clear of this body shop as they obviously do not stand by their work. read more

Platinum Auto Body was great! I had about $6K worth of damage to a 09' Prius recently and Platinum was recommended by the other drivers insurance adjuster. I could not be happier. The repairs took a while, but that was to be expected with the amount of damage. Platinum asked me to come by and inspect the vehicle prior to their beginning work on it, glad I did, there was some damage to the other side of the vehicle that was not there at the accident scene, probably towing company. Platinum took care of everything, I didn't even have to get involved. Lets see, parts replaced included the bumper, hood, left fender, left door, headlight, suspension components, and lots of stuff behind the sheetmetal. I can't tell what has been painted and what has not, no overspray, etc. everything matches. They even washed and cleaned my car for me. The car tracks straight, it does not pull to one side or the other and it runs great. I have put about 1000 miles on the car since repairs I have had my car back for 10 days or so now (yes, I have a monster of a commute) and just got a call from the Owner. He was calling to check on the repairs and to make sure that I was satisfied. Well done! I hope I never need to have bodywork done again, but if I do, I am going to call Platinum. read more

Was told the vehicle would be ready on 26 Jan. - On 26 Jan was told the vehicle would be ready on 28 or 29 Jan. - From 29 Jan to 5 Feb was told "the vehicle will be done tomorrow." - Vehicle was finally ready late on 8 Feb, and was picked up on 9 Feb. - Platinum did a poor job of keeping me abreast of delays and issues throughout, and often failed to return phone calls. - When I expressed irritation at the constant postponements I was told "well, your insurance company is paying for your rental"; I pointed out that my rental reimbursement ran out after 2.5 weeks, and I ended up paying $150 out of pocket for the rental. read more

I got into a fender bender with a 2012 Ford Focus hatchback, and Platinum Auto Body was the body shop of choice by the other guy's insurance. I didn't want to go through the hassle of getting an adjuster to look at the damage, and to try to find a body shop that would do the job for the adjuster's price, so I decided to just have it done here. I checked for some reviews on the shop, but didn't find too many opinions, so I wanted to contribute a review of my experience with this place. I mainly worked with John, the service writer. He was courteous, knowledgeable and was a pleasure to work with. He walked me through the damage when I first brought in the car, and pointed out a few damaged areas that I had missed when I examined it myself. He let me know that they wouldn't get the parts in for a couple days, so he suggested that I bring in the car 2 days later. He also asked me to remove my Thule cross bars, as it would get in the way of painting - I'm glad he asked me to do this, because I didn't notice a dent on the roof from the accident that was masked by the feet of the cross bars (I was carrying a kayak when I got rear-ended). I went back to the shop 2 days later to drop off my car. At that time, I showed John the dent on my roof, and he agreed that it should be fixed and would be covered by the insurance company. He also arranged for someone to pick me up from the rental company to get my rental car while I waited for my car. For the next week and a half, I waited eagerly for a call to let me know that the car was done. I think it probably would have been nice to get a call here and there to update me on the progress of the job - especially if the estimated time of completion was pushed back. However, I can tell that they have been very busy, so I won't gripe too much about that. I do wish they would have completed it sooner, but understand that they have other cars to fix too. In my eagerness to get my car back, I took the initiative to call every couple days or so. John was patient each time I called, and gave me updates on the status of the car. When it was finally time to pick up my car, John walked me through the fixed areas and was eager to assuage any concerns I had. I noticed some primer blotches on the roof, which John quickly called over one of the employees to clean up. He also made sure they cleaned up other areas of the car that he noticed. To my untrained eye, the bumper looks like new, the bent pieces of metal back there have been replaced and the dent is no longer there. There are a couple really small cosmetic flaws around the area where the dent was, but it's not significant enough to warrant asking them to fix it. When I gave the thumbs up on the job, John took the keys to the rental so that I wouldn't have to take it back, which was convenient. I was pleased with the service I got from John, and would give him 5 stars for his contribution to the whole experience. However, the actual body repair and cleanup didn't impress me enough for 5 stars. There were those minor cosmetic defects by the roof and even though the employees wiped away the big blotch of primer, there is still some residue on the paint and windows that I will have to wash off. There are also some shallow paint surface scratches on the edge of the roof, which I don't think were there before the accident - but again, they are really small and I don't want to be without my car any longer to have them fix it. Beyond that, I guess I was expecting to receive the car back shiny and spotless from a proper, thorough hand wash - that would have put them over the top for me to give them 5 stars. read more

Overall, a good experience. The work done was great - can't tell that the accident ever happened. The cost did come in $500 over the estimate. They aren't great at follow-up -- you need to keep on top of them for the estimate, parts arrival, and completion of work. My only other caution is that they seemed way too ready to put me into a rental. (My car had only minor fender damage, and was absolutely drivable while I waited for the estimate & parts.) This shop has a relationship with the Enterprise Rental about a block away, and I did consider that may be the reason they were so anxious to get me into a rental on the insurance company's dime. read more

After looking at a couple of local body shops, I chose Platinum Auto Body in Sterling to do the repair work on my Audi Q5. And I'm very glad that I did! Quality of work: My car was returned to me in PERFECT condition...like new...maybe better than new! You cannot see or feel any blemishes in the body work and of course they matched the paint color perfectly. All appropriate trim pieces were replaced and a nice touch was leaving the plastic protective cover on for me to see before being removed while I watched. Time in the shop: I handed in my car for a significant $5000 repair and it was returned to me exactly 1 week later. They contacted me after a few days to inform me of the state of the repair and when to expect the work to be completed. Very professional! Dealing with the insurance company: They handled it all. I simply paid my deductible and drove away. I wish that other companies would make it so simple. I took my 2010 Corolla to Platinum for front end damage repair (March 15). They were one of the approved repair shops from my insurance company. I worked with John. I had a fairly short time frame because my daughter was returning to college with the car, so missing the due date would not have been good. I was kept informed through the entire process and the car was completed on time. The car had previous front end work, which John indicated made matching the paint a challenge. But the car looked great, the paint match was perfect. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE Wow, I could not have had a worse experience with Platinum Auto Body in Manassas. Ryan and Bobby were completely unconcerned by how badly they repaired my car. I took the car in for an estimate and was told it would take no more than 3 days to repair. It took 4 and then they weren't open for me to pick the car up for a few days. When I did finally get my car back, they hadn't repaired it correctly and claimed that it was just weather and the wind that was creating a creaking noise. I wasn't born yesterday, so I refused to go back and Liberty Mutual paid for me to take it to another repair shop. It turns out they put all the wrong bolts on and didn't replace the lining between the bumper and the body of the car, thus creating the creaking sound that they implied I was imagining. It is one thing to have a bad experience, but to not have any remorse over the poor quality of work is what was truly offensive. Bobby made it seem like paying the other repair shop to do the work they should have done correctly in the first place was some huge concession, but in actuality, that is the least they should have done. This auto body shop is basically run by Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel. If you want to get a damaged car back (and oh yes, the sound persisted and it turns out they may have damaged the rear control arms which is costing me $1k out of my own pocket, but I can't prove it), then by all means, take your car to Platinum Auto Body. I ended up taking it to Extreme Collision in Woodbridge and while they aren't great about calling customers in a timely fashion, they knew how to put a bumper back on a car without further damaging it, so I call that a plus. read more

These guys are great! I have an old 1988 Chevy truck that was hit while parked and needed a new door and rocker panel. The parts are no longer available new and finding a good used door was almost impossible. The insurance company gave me just enough to have it repaired with used parts. When I talked with the owner he told me that if I were able to find the parts they would repair the truck. About a month later I was able to locate a usable door and took it back to them. They fixed the truck and made it look like new. I was also impressed with the communication through the entire process. The repair and paint was excellent and matched perfectly. They far exceeded my expectations. I am taking my classic Mustang to them as well. If your looking for a great body shop look no further than these folks. The Manassas location can very highly recommended to have some scratches buffed out of the side of my SUV. Did not have an appointment, walked in and was immediately helped. I only waited a short amount of time and my car looked great. Bobby and the other young man (don't remember his name!) were very friendly and helpful. I had to get my bumper replaced after I was rear ended. In additional the bumper itself being damaged, it was shifted downward so there was a huge gap between itself and the panels above it. They told me they would fix the gap, but when I got the car back it was still there. I complained and they said they would fix it, just as they had said before, but when Richie in the front office looked at it he said the gap was normal. I explained to him that the gap was not supposed to be there but he maintained his position and said he would still try to help. At this point I did not decide to trust my car to platinum auto body ever again and left. It was unclear how Richie would go about fixing a problem that he was denying, and I did not want to risk them making the car look worse. The job should have been done correctly the first time, and platinum should have owned up to their mistake when addressing a legitimate problem with their workmanship.
