About a year ago, I came to see Dr. Karo at the recommendation of a friend because of a lot of neck and back pain due to standing at work and using the phone without a headset. I would have migraines and headaches frequently and my back pain would flare up from time to time and cause me to miss work. I couldn't carry my growing 1 year old, exercise much, and many evenings I spent just resting and recovering from over-using my back or neck. I had gone to a chiropractor for weekly visits before, so I was expecting a similar format. But after an initial evaluation and xray scan, I was surprised to find that Dr. Karo had a rigorous treatment plan of 3 visits per week initially, tapering down to 2/week, then 1 per week, with some evaluation visits in between. At first, I thought that I wouldn't be able to make the time in my schedule, but Kristen assured me each visit was efficient and we could adjust the schedule to match my shifting work schedule. We made it work! I'm now onto the maintenance phase of my care and the weekly visits have been really helpful. I haven't missed a day of work because of back pain or migraines in the past 6 months, and I can carry my now much heavier 2 year old. I was able to run a 10K this year. I'm so grateful that I found Platinum Chiropractic! When I started chiropractic care, I thought it would be more for wellness and to address some shoulder pain from working from home for a couple years prior. When I had my first exam, Dr. Karo showed me in my X-rays where the bones in my cervical spine have been struggling over time due to my posture. I was not expecting this to be my main health concern as I had always noticed that my head comes forward quite a bit (since childhood actually) but never knew that was a problem/unnatural and it never bothered me pain-wise physically. I felt very grateful that Dr. Karo took his time to review my case, conduct thorough testing, explain everything that he seeing from the X-rays and test results, how it was affecting me and what I could expect from care. He explained that what I had is called Anterior Head Syndrome. I learned that every inch your head shifts forward is another 10 lbs of weight on the vertebrae at the base of the neck, since the weight distribution is not as it should be. This was very eye opening for me. I am typically pretty skeptical of anyone or business I don't know well, but I felt Dr. Karo was very transparent, educative and honest the whole time which put me at ease. Fast forward to only two months after that consultation, I was measured at a medical doctor's office for a check up and found out I LITERALLY GOT AN INCH TALLER. I did my research prior to coming to Platinum Chiropractic. I also had friends that highly recommended Dr Karo, so I felt a little more confident prior to coming in to the office. Making the appointment with Kristen was super easy and she explained that I would need to go get x-rays prior to my first appointment. I got in for an x-ray the next day and went in the following day for my first appointment in the office. I sat down at Dr. Karo and we went over my intake form, XRays and we had an in-depth conversation about chiropractic care and my primary goals. We then did a series of noninvasive testing that would read my body in various ways to indicate what needed the most attention. I felt that he listened and cared for what I needed. Once I got onto the table to get the actual adjustments, I was a little nervous at first until we started the hands-on work. I am mediately felt like I can trust his hands and was able to relax from there. The adjustments felt overall pretty smooth even though some areas of my body will need continual care in order for them to not hurt overtime. This review is long overdue as I have been seeing Dr. Karo on and off for the last 8-9 years. I decided to schedule my first appointment with Dr Karo 2 years ago after a hip injury forced me to quit running. I was pretty sad as this injury came up right when I was about to start training for triathlon. I have been a dedicated patient of Dr Karo since then. He has his own method to treat you and be assured that he will walk you through every step and provide you with detailed explanations. The plan he will set up for you might require several appointments a week at the very beginning of your treatment... But honestly your body will just thank you at some point! After a few weeks of treatment I could clearly see and feel a huge difference: I got a better understanding of my weaknesses and how I could prevent injuries, my overall posture got really better and last but not least: I was not in pain anymore.
