I got my vehicle back in about 2 1/2 weeks, which was fine as there was extensive damage and waiting for parts, etc. They did miss two things which I paid for myself later, a leaking strut and leaking coolant. I was rear-ended and this is the shop State Farm suggested. The front desk person there was awesome! She is professional, warm, and welcoming. I went for my estimate and to get scheduled. It was 3 weeks out which I wasn't thrilled with but accepted. They told me it would be 3 days and it was 2.5 days. Nice! The work performed was perfect!!! Plus I had a few scratches that had nothing to do with the accident. They fixed those at no additional charge. So nice! All that and a bag of cookies! LOL read more

They did careful repair work on our '05 Honda Odyssey van after someone dented the front driver's side in a parking lot. It looks great. They treated it with close attention, apparently understanding how much it means to us, in spite of its advanced age and mileage. They matched the paint perfectly and returned it sparkling clean! I have a luxury automobile. It had a loose fender that I had been trying to get fixed for 2 years. It was just a small section of the passenger-side front fender. I figured it should not cost very much to get fixed. I went to several auto-body shops to get estimates. A couple gave me honest estimates of $67 and $95. But both gave excuses of why they could not do the job. But, I knew this was because they would not be making much money on this repair job. Also, other shops gave wildly high estimates of up to $1000 dollars. One said he had to remove the entire front fender. I knew this was not necessary and I passed on their estimates. I go to Platinum Auto Body in my town of Lake Villa on rt. #45. I drove my vehicle there. I entered. The place looked very clean and professional. The receptionist took my info. An employee sitting at his desk on the far side of the room intervened. He went out into the parking lot. He looked the loose fender over. He went back into the business and retrieved some parts that he could hold in the palm of his hand. Screws, clamps, etc. He took about five more minutes and my fender was fixed. I asked "what was my charge?" He responded "How about just a handshake" I was flabbergastered! All of the time and trouble I had gone through and Platinum fixed it in minutes for free. If it was up to me, I wouldn't give them any stars. So, this place was recommended by my parents insurance company. It's listed as one of the premier body shops in this area. I honestly don't know or how that's possible. A few weeks ago, I took my truck in for a estimate. They did everything they were supposed to do, the specialist (Brian) even pointed out some dents I didn't know I had. Afterwards he gave me the estimate and said the car will take 4 business days to finish. The soonest I could've dropped it off was the following Monday. Monday comes around and I dropped off the car at the exact time I was told. No problems so far and the estimated repair time was still 4 days. That Friday, I called the repair shop to check the status of my vehicle. He informed me the damage needed more attention and they'll have to keep it longer..I asked how much longer and they said another day. So I assumed Saturday, come to find out, they don't work on the weekends?!! So the next week comes around and I called and asked for the status of the vehicle ( Tuesday) and he informed me that it will be ready later that day...ok cool. I got off work and waited at for for a phone call. I finally received a call around 4pm, informing my truck was ready for pickup...cool. I leave the house and drive towards the shop(about 10miles away) halfway through my drive I received a call from the shop. Brain, same person who did my estimate informed they'll have to keep it another day. He said while they were finishing up the painting, they scratched the front door. He expressed his apology and let me know it'll be ready on Thursday. Thursday rolls around, I received a call from Brain again about more bad news. This time, instead of buffing out and sanding the scratches from the front door, the shop workers just painted over it! WTH!!!! At this point I was furious! I don't know who or what personal they have doing body work on cars but there should be at least some type of Quality Assurance to check over there work..or in this case to look over there shoulder while there doing the work. This is totally unacceptable. 4 days in this shop turned into 10 days...and counting. At this point I'm not to confident on when my truck will be ready. So with all this being said, I would HIGHLY recommend to NOT take your car here..even if it's "recommended" by your insurance company. I was really impressed with the service and the work done on my vehicle. I was rear ended and not much damage was seen on the outside. The mechanic took photos of all the internal damage before and after the repairs. They were very fast - I dropped off on a Friday morning, was notified on Monday of the extra repairs that needed to be done and picked up by Tuesday. I have a brand new 2021 Hyundai Palisade. I'd only been driving the vehicle for 3 months when I was rear ended. The damage was significant. Over $20,000. I was pretty upset being that it was brand new. I would not have trusted anybody BUT Platinum to fix it. Brian Schaefer, my estimator and liaison, was amazing. I've been to Platinum twice for seemingly simple requests. First time I took my truck in to see if they could repair two small rust spots. I thought a body shop in Northern Illinois should be able to do it right. Well they didn't want anything to do with it. Then the second time I went there ( because they are a local business, I try to support local businesses) I wanted to get a set of saddle bags painted on my motorcycle. Well they didn't have it in their estimating book so they told me that it would cost $500 per bag to paint. If you don't want to do a job just say so. I went to pick up my car and expressed my concern about a new scuff, possibly from being in the parking lot, or perhaps from the dent removal process. After a minor accident, I needed to get my car (dented trunk) repaired. With some searching I decided to go with Platinum. They are a preferred partner with many insurance companies and have a rental car location next door. The prices were probably middle of the road, but the service was very good. So they were not the cheapest. But honestly for auto repair, you get what you pay for. In this case, platinum had fair pricing and great service. They did a quick and good job of fixing my trunk of my car and were able to fix minor dents with paint-less dent repair. Would definitely recommend and hopefully I won't need them in the future. I took my car here for some body work. This shop did a fantastic job. Also, they are completely safety centered. They found that some of the internal parts holding the wheel were bent and were able align and fix these parts without replacing them. This made the car safer and will save wear on the tire. The way they did the repair saved me money at their expense. They are very honest and strike me as supremely competent. read more

This is related to an ESTMIATE only. The estimate was extremely high in comparison to another place I took my car. Brian understood my situation and really didn't try to work with me. The estimate was about 20% of my car's value for cosmetic defects alone! (Nothing under the hood was included in this estimate nor did it have non body repairs). This place has the worse customer service!!! I stopped in on 5/7/2018 to get an estimate for hail damage on my truck, and the receptionist couldn't have been more rude. Answering the phone as I'm standing there asking her questions and there was another receptionist sitting next to her who could have answered the phone. I asked her how long it would take and she tells me 3-5 weeks this is after I'd have to wait a week to get a 5 min. estimate done. So I said well maybe I am better off going somewhere else, her response.......YES THAT WOULD PROBABLY BE A GOOD IDEA!!!!! hmm usually you would try to sway the customer to not go somewhere else. Whatever their loss, I did get an estimate somewhere else the same day and will have my truck done in less than 2 weeks. Maybe if the receptionist would have been more caring and paid more attention to me instead of everyone, and everything else that was going on I wouldn't have went elsewhere! Not to mention there were 4 employees (the estimators) sitting at their desks to the left of the receptionist desk DOING NOTHING, not with any customers, Talking to each other. As I'm standing there a man walked in and said he needed an estimate for a collision, one of the guys jumped right up and said ill help you with that. UMMM HI why couldn't you help me ??!!! At one time or another we all have some body work that we'd rather not direct thru an insurance company to impact premiums. Whether its caused by an uninsured motorist or someone that pops you in the parking lot or just plain stupidity when we are paying for everything it takes on new meaning than just the deductible. I knew Platinum had been in the business for years and so I was pleasantly surprised that the estimate was as low as it was. I felt like they tried to keep costs down and when they needed another part that was not anticipated even though it was small, they called right away to advise me. I was sent by Geico to get an estimate from this place today. What a crock !! The estimator argued with me when I showed him damage on the opposite corner of my truck bed. He said " that might have been there before" ARE YOU KIDDING ME !!! 3 days before I was driving a brand new custom built 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 !! Perfect !! without blemish !! Only 5 months old...The only thing wrong with it was salt soaked carpet edges on the driver side from the recent harsh winter. Then he says to me " oh ...that could be from the supports in side " where in the center of the bed on most trucks there are no such supports. Then he says that " all we will do with that is a paint-less repair and replace the top bed rail cover"... WTF !!! It has a impact transfer to the opposite corner due to it being a open truck bed . It's an unsupported box for Gods sake !!!! This shop calls themselves " Collision Experts" ....... They argued with me before the repairs were even approved for their shop.
