I am relatively new in town as I am coming back from moving to the UK and then Hawaii. It's been about 5 years. I extremely loved my hairdresser Adam from Hawaii but since kidnapping is against the law, I had to leave him. That being said, I got to know Alyssa from platinum. A Solano community graduate (Salon tech), I had good conversations, I was offered drink and snack while getting my hair did, and she was on point with my hair as I really like it. However, I think I was totally spoiled with Adam from Waikiki. She forgot to put a little Vaseline along my forehead so the color wouldn't stick to my skin so much after the rinse. The massage during my rinse was good but I think it could've been a little longer. Alyssa only does color and extensions which she seems to be knowledgeable about, but I was kinda hoping to find a one stop shop for doing a perm once in a while. I was pressed for time as my family and I were in the process of moving, trying to get my son's school situated, and was going to a wedding in half moon bay at the end of August. Went in the following week for service and this salon has just a great vibe and atmosphere. It looks like an old empty building if you're just driving by but once you step inside, it's like deer in the headlights. I love how they've renovated to make it pop with appeal! Going back to Lexi: she's very sweet, Professional and knowledgeable on how to make hair look it's best. She's honest in her thoughts and I appreciate the fact that she'll tell you what would/wouldn't be good for your hair. She even had this interesting technique of cutting my hair and giving it the body, shape and movement it needed. I need to get my hair cut, so I searched for places online, and this is one of the top rated places that I found. Getting an appt was easy. I sent my info, and I got a response within less than an hour of requesting the appt. The salon itself is beautiful and spacious. You walk in and it feels so peaceful. The music isn't too loud and it smells nice. I was greeted with smiles and I let them know who my appt was with. I only wait about 10 minutes, and that's because I was early. My appt was with Stacy, and she is AMAZING! I'm telling you...she and I are kindred spirits! She is such a beautiful soul! And she does amazing hair. Look, I don't know a thing about hair. I'm very low maintenance and also life has been super busy. I needed a haircut, and luckily Adelle had last minute availability. I came in and told her I wanted a low maintenance haircut that framed my face and just a few inches off. She asked questions, made recommendations, and I let her do her thing. I'm very happy I trusted her. She was also the sweetest. I had maybe 4 hrs of sleep and had a rough minute trying to make actual coherent sentences and she was kind and patient and made me feel very comfortable. I also got recommendations on how I should get my hair done when I come back in a month and she explained the process to me. She was really transparent and I appreciate that. It's bright, inviting, and minimal space and I could easily relax in it. Everyone else seemed to be happy with what they were getting done and it was busy for a Wednesday morning. You might as well not even go to this salon and just send them the direct deposit payment right now. You'll save yourself the time, energy, and your hair will look better. Bad experiences with Cassie. 3/3 cuts had missed and/or drastically uneven hair. Two with Cassie and the last Mel evening out Cassie's 2nd cut. If the time put into trying to up their tip/need more frequent services was put into the service I was paying for I might be returning instead of writing this review. The 1st time I paid 280(including 20% tip) for a partial highlight and cut. I left with hairs 3 inches longer than the length missed. Although she had mentioned I could come back in after I wash and let my hair dry naturally if my curl pattern didn't fit the cut. I didn't and left the long hairs there for her to see next time(it is quarantine after all). (1 & 1/2 months later) 2nd time I came in for a cut to take another 3 inches off. It was 45 dollars. I realized after I left she did the initial chop then washed, blow dried the crap out of it, and curled it. I had the worst headache I have ever experienced it lasted the next 4 days. I didn't even know that was possible. It fried my hair and I had to go get a deep conditioner and new moisturizing products to recover it. Regarding the cut, when I wash it and it dried natural it looked crazy uneven and was sticking out in all directions. It looked like I botched it myself. I asked her to even it out and she wouldn't. She said she could contact me a week later when she had time. I had to show up at the salon unannounced two times before someone answered the door. Point to my my terrible hair cut and say please fix this. Cassie was there. She goes in the back and comes out with Mel to even it out for me "the best she could do without coming in for a wash and dry". After Mel trimmed it up she said told me she's not going to charge me again but "I have to tip". Lol! I told her I don't have cash and I already paid for my haircut and all of a sudden their card machine and Venmo app was working again. Got home, friends and family tell me to look at the back in a mirror. Sure enough one chunk longer than the rest in the back. I never complained through all of this and they were actually pretty rude about it. Cassie never apologized for the inconveniences or followed through with contacting me on the week later day she said she would fix it. Also as I said, Cassie did my cut and color then when she cut it a month and a half later she cut the part with all the highlights way above the length so she also ruined the color. She made a line across my head. Top half blonde. Bottom half brown. My hair is at my shoulders. The only way to fix it is to have the highlights done again. This seems like an intentional cycle pull money out of their clients. It's so selfish and rude. Done with Platinum Hair Salon! read more

I had a hair-cut & consultation with Lexi. She was very professional but not stiff, very knowledgeable but humble, very detailed but not crazy. She cut my hair dry trimming off those pesky little dead, frizzy hairs from bleaching. Very effective! My hair is so smooth now. She also evened the cut as it was not even at all when I walked in to the salon. My hair has an almost mullet look the way it is layered & Lexi suggested letting the shortest layer grow out a few more inches before blending the layers which I really appreciated. Unfortunately I had to cancel my full hair lightening appt. due to health issues. I highly recommend Lexi. read more

I have been a client of April's for the past 5 years. April has taken my brows from over: plucked, wax, and threaded to beautifully shaped brows that fit my face. When I began my Brow journey, I was someone who never gave a second thought to my brows... and now, I'm obsessed with them. Life can be out of control but with Brows by April, I can take it all head on. I've been seeing April Lopes for my brows for years. She helped my non existing brows grow and shaped them to perfection ! When she left her other solan to come to a different spot I was a little sad but I knew I would follow her . I had an appointment with Mel today. It's been a struggle to find a stylist that is knowledgeable AND reliable. Thankfully Mel is both! The scheduling system through Square is nice & sends a confirmation when the stylist accepts the appointment. Mel also sent me a text the day before confirming again & letting me know what pay methods she accepts. I have naturally curly hair & was put at ease immediately when Mel started to cut my hair dry first to insure it didn't end up too short. She checked in with me throughout the service to allow me to provide direction so the result is exactly what I wanted. I'm very happy with the look & style of my hair. The color she used in my hair was cheap and made my scalp really itchy. Her prices are super high. If it was up to me I would take her license away. Marianne has been cutting my hair for about 14 yrs. The first time I went to her I told her I had never gone to the same place twice because I never liked the way my hair was cut. I have very thick long hair. Since that first time I have not gone to anyone else and have LOVED what she has done to my hair. I get compliments on it every where I go and it is very easy to style, I feel that is a true sign of a good cut! She has fit me in at last minutes, she has talked me out of what would have been huge mistakes when i show up and say "I need a change"..lol..and I have no problem saying "just do what ever you think will look good " because I trust her judgment and she has never let me down. I had an appointment scheduled with Chelsie. The day of my appointment, she cancelled the appointment and I was rescheduled for the following week. A week later as I was on my way to the appointment I received a message that my appointment was cancelled again. Chelsie blamed the salon, saying they did not have the supplies needed for my appointment. So at this point I had gotten off work earlier twice to go to this appointment. Additionally, the appointment had been scheduled with more than adequate time for Chelsie to ensure all necessary products were available prior to the appointment. This is not the first time she has cancelled appointments, but this is certainly the last. I will not be scheduling any more appointments with Chelsie as she obviously does not value her clients time. I am not sure if this is necessarily a reflection of Platinum Salon or not, but it is certainly a reflection of Chelsie's work ethic and professionalism. Very disappointing. read more

It's so hard to find a good hairdresser when you move to a new area. I really wanted to find one at Belle Capelli but it wasn't to be. I called and Marianne got me in the very next day which was great. She was very, very nice. But the cut and color I received wasn't very good. She did listen to me and darkened my hair as I asked but then put in these silvery ashy streaks "to liven it up." I have no problem working with a hair stylist over several sessions to get the color right but when I got home I noticed some technique issues. Large hunks of colors - not chunky cute but sloppy. Sections of hair were 4 different colors from root to tip. Like a tabby cat. Some sections the color started almost an inch from my scalp. It looked like regrowth even tho it had just been done. And the hair cut wasn't very good. My long curls when to long frizz. I've had it happen a few times before when someone doesn't know how to cut curly hair. If there were one or two problems, I'd have gone back and given her another try (since she was inexpensive) but with all the technique issues - especially since she kept saying she had 30 years experience - I decided to cut my losses and move on. read more

When I arrived, the lady looked shocked that a customer would come through the doors, let alone one with an appointment. She said she didn't have any appointments and I showed her my email confirmation. Then she said she didn't cut men's hair. We left and the lady send an email cancellation. How could she cancel an appointment that didn't exist. Also the email said men's cut, so how did the lady not know it was a man's haircut? Once I went in for my appointment with Jeanie (?), I was so disgusted by how cramped and uncomfortable this place was...considering that I'm a bit claustrophobic. What's a girl to do when looking for a new stylist? Start asking ladies who their stylist is when you like their cut and color...which is what I did. I asked friends, clients, co-workers and even strangers who did their hair. Now, there are soooo many salons in Solano County, that when three ladies gave me the same answer "Marianne at Bella Capelli" I knew I had to give it a whirl. I called Marianne from the number on their website and she called me back that same afternoon. We talked at great length and I felt so comfortable that I decided to book an appointment. An easy to find location with tons of parking (street and city lot) I arrived at their cute Victorian. I was used to having to wait (sometimes 30 minutes) for my other stylist, so I was shocked to find Marianne ready for me when I entered the salon. Come to find out, she books herself so that she does not have over-lapping appointments. I get 100% of her attention - no waiting and no rushing. After discussing my hair, she made a few recommendations regarding my highlights and I asked her to do what she thought was best. Turns out that with her slight adjustments, it looks more natural and I can go even longer between appointments! THAT to me is putting your client ahead of your pocketbook - rarely have I experienced that commitment to her art at other salons. I have been back three times for a cut and highlights and each time I step out looking fabulous in less than two hours (I am embarrassed to say how much of my time was wasted at that last salon.) I am always offered complimentary water or soda (I can't be the only one who had to pay $1 at other salons for a bottle of water?) The other stylist is usually there with a client as well as someone who does waxing/facials but even in their cozy space it never feels cramped or overcrowded. Convenient, efficient, and affordable aren't always words that come to mind when you think of getting pampered and beautiful - but they are when you go to Marianne at Bella Capelli! read more

I got a Groupon for highlights, since I'd never had them before, and a haircut. I can't remember my stylist's name (it was a while ago) but she was young and the conversation was fun. She actually helped me find the song I'd walk down the aisle to! Haha, but her work was pretty good. The highlights I'd give like a 87%, only because I wanted them as discreet and natural and blended as possible. Then again -- I don't know how small of chunks can be used for highlights, but mine were pretty noticeable, and quite a few shades lighter than my usual hair. I was hoping for just a blend that gave it depth, if that makes sense. But -- the haircut was PERFECT. Just what I'd always wanted but for the last 3-4 haircuts with other stylists, had never been able to get! So I was super happy with that. She even styled it afterward, even though that wasn't part of the groupon, because she loved it and was having fun. So the haircut was 5 stars, hands down. ALSO -- when you look at this business, notice that there are TEN reviews that all give 5 stars, but they've been filtered because they're all so positive.
