I've been searching for a curly hair specialist for months, and if you have curls, you already know how real that struggle is. Neisha herself is amazing--so sweet, attentive, and professional. What I appreciated most is that she asked detailed questions about my expectations. It's rare to find a stylist who truly listens instead of just doing what they think is best. I asked for a trim and highlights, and she absolutely delivered. I am in LOVE with my color! She also gave me a silk press, which came out beautiful. I'm a natural curly girl through and through, so it didn't last as long as intended (sorry, Neisha! ), but I especially love how the highlights look with my curls--they really pop! I will definitely be going back to Neisha and highly recommend her to all my fellow curly girls looking for someone who truly understands textured hair. So. . .I scheduled a hair appointment for both of my daughters. Beforehand, I had been in communication with Iliana and it took me a minute to get our schedule down but she was super patient with me. One of my daughters is extremely tender-headed but Iliana was very patient with her and even encouraging saying things like "girl you got this!" and being playful with my daughters to help make them more comfortable. HOW RUDE!! 2) Sophie and her staff call their place of business a Salon however it should be called a Cosmetology School because their work is inconsistent and mediocre, they still have TONS to learn before calling themselves a Professional Salon. 3) Sophie and some of her staff members are HIGHLY IMMATURE and UNPROFESSIONAL. Their behavior resembles that of kids in jr. high school that compete with each other as they sit around speaking negatively, gossiping and laughing at their clients right in front of them. I couldn't believe how gentle and caring she was with my granddaughter. My granddaughter (age 5) was desperately in need of her first trim. The owner was very nice and accommodating, but as for one of the cosmetologist name Iliana she was very unprofessional and totally does not no how to braid.. my son got his hair braided yesterday 8/27/2025 it was different size braids with twist alternated they were unraveling and blunt cut at the bottom. When I called her this morning to complain she expressed that she wasn't going to refund me or redo his hair and proceeded to put glue at the ends to stop the unraveling, it was Totally unacceptable.. the Owner of the shop Sophie after me calling back to speak with her told Iliana to refund me.. she did with great attitude and didn't know the difference between being called a layman and lame.. she need to stick to silk press only.. I had to correct her being she tried to tell me I was wrong for calling my son a layman ... she said your wrong to call your son Lame... Great salon! I don't give 5 stars often but this one fully deserves it. I hadn't been to a salon since the 90s so when bringing my 7yr old daughter here it brought back great memories of sitting under the dryer, chatting and cracking jokes with both customers and the stylist and just enjoying yourself. Scheduling with Ophelia was very easy. She was very responsive and worked with my daughter's school schedule. She gave hair advice and made my daughter comfortable as it was her first time at a salon. While her shyness kept her from engaging more, she loved every minute of it and felt like "a big girl". It was also nice to see other kids at the salon and I'm sure that helped my daughter feel at ease. As I sat waiting I realized that all of the stylist there were pretty good when doing other customers so I'm confident that the entire staff is talented. I loved my last stylist so having to find someone else was a hard decision to make. Luckily I found Salon Philosophie and Mick. Mick is terrific! She listens to what you want and is very easy to talk to. She specializes in braids but can do anything. I've had a relaxer, a GREAT cut and color. My hair was being stubborn on the color but she collaborated with the team and I have a healthy high end looking color despite my hair not wanting to cooperate. Which leads me to the salon, it is a great energy with all kinds of clients, skills and services. They are individual stylist but there to lend expertise and make sure clients are taken care of. This salon filled my heart with hope yesterday. My 6 year old daughter has a tender head and previously had a traumatic braiding experience. The entire staff wrapped their arms around not only my daughter but myself too as we both shed tears and worked through the fear. She doesn't do acrylic false nails but who cares! My nails are stronger than ever and grow like crazy so no need for falsies and acrylic which is horrible for your nails btw. To begin, I wanted to target a salon in the Fairfield/Vacaville with a reputation of serving customers who were Black simply because I'd feel more confident that they'd know what to do with my hair-- and I wasn't disappointed, because they/Sophia did! My main goal was to change my hair from thick/curly/dry to something more manageable, so I opted for a keratin protein treatment with heat and a trim (though I will still have to keep up with product and drying it, I think it is a much more simplified process). Product was applied quickly without confusion, processed within 30 minutes, dried, and styled (total appointment took about 2-3 hours). Great atmosphere and great staff; everyone was professional and friendly and for a first visit I was very comfortable there. This salon is a lot closer to me than the drive I was making from Roseville to the Bay Area and well worth the few extra miles drive past Sacramento. I came in today on a whim, I was dreading doing my own hair for mothers day and saw a friend post this business on their Instagram story. I thought what the heck let me call and see if they have any availability. By some miracle, Tondenisha squeezed me in. I was so skeptical and scared because I have not gotten my hair professionally done since the beginning of the pandemic. I had scheduled a trim and it was the worst experience ever. The woman literally brushed my hair down and cut just the very bottom of my hair. Didn't go through the "layers" of my hair to get rid of the dead ends like a typical trim appointment would consist of. I then asked her to fix the face frame for my hair and she just jacked my hair up! What really made me most upset was she was so focused on her phone and kind of dismissive. You could tell this is not just a job but a passion for many of the staff as they were up to date with the newest trends and techniques.
