I decided to try out Essenza for a simple cut (trim my very long hair) and was paired with Brenda as my stylist. My normal stylist at a different salon is on maternity leave and based on the reviews and how close this salon was to my house, I thought I'd give it a shot. I asked for 3" off of the bottom with long layers- pretty simple. This is literally the worst haircut I've ever had and I am NOT high maintenance in the slightest. It is so uneven and choppy, it looks like there are 2 very straight layers an inch apart across the entire length. I have been trying to clean it up myself and even it out a little at home. Also, it is a lot shorter than I was looking for because she cut the 3" and then cut another inch or so off trying to layer it. I asked her to curl it since I had it washed/styled along with the cut, I was thinking like a loose curl just to go about my day after the haircut, but it was like ringlet prom curls with SO much product, I had to wash it again as soon as I got home. My hair will grow out, it isn't the end of the world, I am just really annoyed and disappointed. As far as the salon, customer service, responsiveness and overall experience outside of the haircut, everything was fine and maybe I should have read the reviews and requested a different stylist. read more

I have VERY high standards when it comes to cut and color and Andrea always surpassed my expectations. She truly gave me the most gorgeous dimensional copper red color that I have been wanting for years. Her haircuts are also amazing! The best I've ever had! She is a stylist that is passionate about her craft and that comes through in her work. I absolutely love my stylist Renee. I went in to the salon not knowing what was going to happen with my hair. I had been box dying my hair black for years and it had eventually faded to a splotchy dark brown. I wanted to start the process of lightening my hair to a blonde and Renee managed to add balyage highlights to my hair without damaging it! She has also worked on my daughters hair, adding peekaboo color to her hair. She was extremely patient and my daughter was super comfortable with her doing her hair. She was very friendly and patient with my daughter, and gave her her first professional cut. Kim was meticulous about getting it right, and the result was perfect. Drea came highly recommended so I made an appointment and saw her for the first time today. I couldn't be more pleased! The salon was serene and welcoming. Customer service is a priority here. I've received both hair services and eyelash extensions from Renee. I came to her to get my hair color corrected that was previously dyed by a different hair stylist. I had a blonde balayage that washed out my face and it seemed as if I was fully blonde. Renee gave me a brand new look which included dimensional pieces that look good both straight and curled. This is the best my hair has ever looked and I have A LOT of hair which is difficult to work with. Renee is also my go to for eyelash extensions. I got a full set on Sept 5 and I didn't need a fill until the 12th of this month. When I went in for my fill I still had way more lashes than most people would have after 5 weeks, thus ensuring me that she uses high quality products. I highly recommend her! read more

Sooo, i went here a second time but saw a different girl. I think her name may have been Kim but i'm not sure. She was in the station in front on the right side as you walk in. She's a young chick. She's more friendly than the first one (Janessa) but still I felt an awkwardness as I sat in the chair. She said i have "a lot of hair." I got the vibe she was annoyed it was taking so long to do. Not a good thing for me to feel as a customer... DUH Anyway, she mentioned she does the hair of a lot of the stylists that work there so she must be good. Instead of darkening, I lightened it this time. She lightened it as far as she could (she said) although I have had it much lighter in the past - admittedly damaged at the ends but my hair is ALWAYS dry on the ends. I didn't have to sit under a hot blower, which is good. I wish that she made my hair lighter though but she shot that down like it was impossible when I mentioned something about it. *SIGH* Anyway, she used toner in my hair - as I'm pretty sure the first girl did but SHE charged me $15 for it! REALLY i've never been charged for that at any other salon (at least not that i'm aware of). Anyway her shampoo skills could use some work, she is kind of rough on the scalp... i was wondering what was going on. It would be ok, the she would scrub hard, then just ok, then scrub hard, and so on. what the??? They give you an itemized receipt afterwards. So my tab this 2nd time was a whopping $ 145: Color/cut/style - $30 (great), highlights - $100 (omg) and toner -$15 (give me a break). Please keep in mind that this was like 6 weeks after my first visit where my bill was only $125: Color/cut/style - $55 and highlights $70. The price was right, the service was not. I understand that some stylists charge more for their service because of their expertise and I don't know that it was necessarily worth it in my case. I didn't get the color I wanted (lighter) but my hair was healthier because of it (yeah yeah yeah). Still what i want is what i want, and if you can't give it to me, I know there are many other salons out there! All in all, Kim did a decent job on my hair but it was too expensive for my tastes. I still felt uneasy while in the chair and although more conversation was involved, it wasn't comfortable there. I just couldn't wait for it to be over. I felt more of a bother than welcome. The bill was TOO much. I will not be returning for hair styling. i like the Aveda theme but there is another Aveda salon in Vacaville. i get better service at Devyn's in Vallejo. They are not snobby and get it done without complaining you have "a lot of hair." read more

2 stars seems harsh, but I agree with the description, "Meh. I've experienced better." I went there for a wax and part of my discontent is my bad, and part the product used. The wax product used hangs around and does not come off in the shower. I ended up using eye make up remover in some delicate areas just to get it off of me. If I try them again, I'll ask to see if they offer a different product. If not, there is no way I'm going back. Also, not all the hair that should have been removed was removed. I didn't notice at the time and so did not ask for her to continue. The customer service was excellent and I really liked my beautician. But, I've had much better products and results at other salons. If I go again, I'll update with my new experience. read more

I usually go to Tasaris, but I came here in November because I needed a last minute trim and they were able to fit me in that day. When arriving I didn't have to wait long to get to the chair, but once I sat down at the station I sat waiting for 10 minutes for the stylist to clean her station. I was offered a cup of coffee and sat there sipping as she used a hair dryer to blow out hair out of the drawers in her podium (I kept covering my coffee cup so no hair from her drawers would get in it!). Finally the stylist begins to consult me and took me to the back to shampoo my hair. As she washed my hair got caught in her long nails and multiple rings on her fingers, ouch. As she combed out my hair she started combing from the top and hang to yank on the comb to get through the bottom, another ouch. My quick trim came out fine, and she offered to style it for me. She offered some long waves and I loved the idea, but I left with small barrel, tight curls. Overall the staff was friendly, cleanliness was okay, and my actual haircut was fine. I give it 2 stars because I have experienced better. read more

As soon as I met Jaime she was incredibly kind, honest, and fairly priced hair dresser I could've found. I usually drive to fairfield for my hair appointments, but lately it's been too hot and I've been too tired to go that far. I first came in to buy a product and met Rachel, a stylist, who helped me find it and we briefly talked about my hair. I'm pregnant and have had a hard time blowdrying and straightening my hair at home because I've been too tired and too hot. I have naturally curly, processed hair and it takes me too long to do it myself. This salon is close to my house and I always have an easy time finding parking downtown, so I decided to give it a try one day. I called the morning of and was about to get in that day for a shampoo/blowdry with Rachel. I lovvvvved my service! I was offered water and tea and the receptionist brought me my water in an actual glass. The salon is nice and cool inside and I wasn't hot or uncomfortable even with the blow drying and flat ironing. My shampoo was amazing. The scalp massage was so nice that I almost fell asleep. I felt like I had booked a massage without actually booking a massage. It was seriously amazing. When the blow drying was about to start she brought me magazines and before I knew it the styling was done and it was perfect. There is two hour parking outside where I chose to park during the week and I was done in an hour and a half, and as quick as it was, I felt like I had been super pampered and felt so relaxed! I had a really good experience coming to this salon. When I walked in I was greeted and helped, my hair-stylist was Andrea, she happened to be the owner of the salon. After sitting me down she offered a beverage (definitely get the tea!!) then asked how I wanted my hair done and different things about how my hair is. After asking me stuff about the hair style I wanted and about my hair she began to give me a head massage... Which felt amazing! After she washed my hair, cut it, and styled it. I was happy with the end result. :) *Andrea is a master stylist so it costs more to have her do your hair ($50) but worth the money definitely.
