The owner of this store is incredibly rude every time I come in. She always seems stressed and in a bad mood. The buy counter is always overfilled with bins of clothing from people trying to sell, and the wait times to sell are over 2 hours no matter what time you go in. It seems they get more sellers than buyers, as the store is very cramped with clothing that it makes it hard to browse. I do not recommend this location!! read more

Wouldn't bother stepping foot in here unless you want to buy overpriced used clothes. I was shocked at what they had items priced at - a used Forever 21 dress for $20, who would pay that when you can go to Forever 21 and buy a brand new dress for probably cheaper! They had Nike's priced at $60, again, used. Everything else I picked seemed to be $18... if I want to spend $18 on items, I will just go buy them new. On the selling side - I'm so disappointed, I brought 3 bags of gently used items that I had put a lot of time and consideration into, and I also had folded so nicely. The girl accepted zero items, and basically threw all my clothes back into the bags, unfolded, totally disorganized, just flat out rude. The store was not busy at all. Also the customer service was absolutely terrible. No one greets you. They all seem confused on how to do their job. Even though I walked in with 3 bags I had to get someone's attention, since no one even looked my way, and then there was confusion over if they were taking items, even though both staff members were clearly going through items. This store is clearly in disarray. So much so, a thief would have a field day. No employees checking the doors or checking on customers, perfect time to slip out with whatever doesn't have a security tag on it. If the employees had more pride, the store would've felt more inviting but instead I just couldn't wait to get the hell out of there. read more

Clothes are often very worn. I have brought holes to the attention of staff and they don't care and leave them on the rack. Racks are often overstuffed and difficult to sort through. Prices are expensive for visibly worn, second hand stuff. I wouldn't pay $15 for a new Shein top, let alone a used one that is worse for wear and wash. Their front door hasn't worked for a long time and you have to awkwardly pry it open with your fingertips. The buying hours are sporadic and they often have a makeshift sign indicating no buying that is otherwise not indicated anywhere and you don't know until you are there with a bag of clothes. read more

First time coming to this Plato's and I love it!!! It's pretty organized compared to the other Plato's I've been too. Prices on clothing are reasonable as well. Okay thrift experience. I was much rather go to my usual spot, Uptown Cheapskate. The store is kinda grimy and smells heavily of weed and cigarettes which makes browsing pretty unpleasant. The staff is not especially nice but not unkind, just very matter of fact all-business. They also don't have a lot of merchandise, at least the kind you want to buy. I brought a whole bag to sell (majority new and tagged items) and they only took two. They pay alright but are very selective about what they buy. Probably won't come back unless really trying to sell. read more

PSA!!! - If you are coming here to sell, you either need to have all your clothing items memorized or make sure to count exactly how many items you brought in....or they will try and scam you. I brought in multiple bags of clothing today, and they took around 5 and offered me $22. I then went to good will to donate the rest. When I got home, I remembered multiple clothing items that I had brought in were not bought, but also not given back to me in the bags I had brought. I then called Plato's and asked about these specific pieces, and they go "Uhhhmm oh yeah we have them".... like okay so are you going to buy them? Were you going to call me to tell me you made a mistake and took my clothes but didn't give me money for them? When I came back to get my clothes, they told me that they would buy all the pieces... and I got cash. I didn't receive one apology for their "mistake". Again - sellers, take note of what you are bringing in or else you will get stolen from. read more

This review is based off my selling experience. I came in on Sunday afternoon and the person working immediately let me know selling was done for the day but they could do part of my items. Okay. Well after waiting for a while awkwardly and getting signed in they proceeded. After just a few minutes I got a notification that my offer was ready. This didn't seem like enough time to thoroughly go through my items. She only looked through maybe three of the six bags I brought because selling was closed, apparently, but they were still doing some. Just seemed like an excuse to not look through stuff. Out of those items, which included barely used items, she offered to purchase two items, a hat and a tee shirt. In my bags there were barely used Nike track shoes, a variety of purses (including a Coach purse), and other items such as a sweater that literally had been worn maybe a handful of times and had no damage. When I asked about for example the shoes to see if they don't buy them, she responded with a "no" and that was it. Later I went to Half Price Books and had a completely different experience, being greeted warmly by the people at the seller's counter, and making literally double what I made at Plato's with a handful of books. To be honest, the experience as a first time seller here makes me less likely to shop at this store. I understand if they can't accept all items, of course, but it just felt like they were not welcoming, had an awkward and cluttered selling area, were understaffed(?), didn't take the time to actually look through my items, and made an honestly insulting offer with no explanation. Just seems like the person in charge was in a bad mood or overworked and took it out on me. Won't be going back, either as a seller or a buyer. read more

Tried calling to confirm that they were buying items, voicemail was full but assumed that if they close at 9pm, they'd still be accepting items. Got there and they said they don't accept items after 6pm, specifically. Showed up the next day at 4:30pm, and again was told that they were not going to be accepting new items, "because there is only one person working", but there were two associates and a manager present. Wasted an hour of my time and will not be returning. read more
