Don't expect them to take any of your clothes even if they are new and name brand. The employees have hardly glanced through my bags both times and the first time told me "your stuff is too outdated" and the most recent time told me " your clothes are too nice" I mean you just can't win. This is a great store for teen/young adult clothes. They have cute clothes, and most importantly, they have great customer service. I am always greeted when I walk in, and whenever I have clothes to sell, they would thank me for bringing the clothes in. I would definitely go again! read more

I took a huge trash bag full of barely ever worn clothes and they only accepted 2 things, because according to them a majority of it had a lot of "wear and tear". Which is ironic because the two tops they chose were supppeerr ancient, I got $10. I highly doubt they even sorted through all of my stuff to be honest. I normally love Plato's. I usually shop twice a year to stock up on summer and winter clothes. I have never had a bad experience until today and I will not be back. One item I wanted to purchase was a brand new PINK long sleeve tee that was marked $12 on the tag. The cashier Rylan started talking with the keyholder standing next to her that something was wrong with the price tag. The keyholder, (Tiana maybe was her name?) said something like "keep it, I think she did that on purpose" and then Rylan threw it under the counter without explaining to me what was going on. When I inquired about why I couldn't buy it she said that someone had tried to switch the tag in the dressing room and then it had mistakingly ended up on the floor. This doesn't make sense to me because if they had tried to switch the tags wouldn't the tag have been wrinkled/ torn near the fastener in order to get it off and on? And then when they tried to purchase it and the cashier caught it, wouldn't they have tagged it with the correct price before putting it back out for sale? I also had another Hollister light weight sweater that was brand new marked as clearance and Rylan once again called the keyholder over. This time she said I could purchase it but that it wasn't supposed to be on clearance so I would pay the original price. I declined. Look, I have worked in customer service and retail for 15 years. I understand that pricing errors happen. But I have never not shopped at or worked for a store that did not honor the price on a tag and flat out refuse to sell an item. Why couldn't they have looked up the price of the PINK shirt? I really liked that shirt and would have happily paid a few dollars more. I was so annoyed with the situation by the time they got to the Hollister top or else I would have bought that one at regular price too. I almost walked out without buying the several other items I had selected because I wad so irritated with the customer service. Oh well. I will just have to stick to Clothes Mentor and Uptown Cheapskate from now on. So long Plato's! read more

I've brought in so many clothes that have never been worn and are name brand. They always turn down my stuff because it's not a new style. Today I brought in tons of Juicy Couture clothing items that would sell fast!! They have only been worn once. They turned them down. I don't understand this store! Probably the worst platos I've been too. I have gone to multiple Plato's and sold back my clothes and gotten decent money for it so I've always talked well about Plato's closet. This location could not have been more polar opposite of my experiences in the past. I brought in an insane amount of clothes to sell back and they offered me four dollars for three shirts. Every single staff member was just standing around chitchatting and complaining about other staff members. I manage retail myself and notice these things and when you have customers walking around and you say NOTHING to them this is not okay.The two girls who had talk to me were like robots and you could tell that everything they're saying was simply what they are told to say not sincerity. They simply did not want my business. The reason I'm giving them two stars versus one is that the store was clean and nice but other than that my experience was not to par. read more

My last experience with Plato's was pretty bad. I have brought items in in the past and they purchased some of my things, but this time, they passed on everything. I brought in brands like American Eagle, Hollister, PINK, tops from Pac Sun and Tilly's. No stains, rips or heavy wear. The staff is usually great, but I didn't recognize any of the girls at the front and they weren't exactly customer service oriented. The girl at the fitting rooms was nice. I'm not even sure they looked at my stuff. I walked around the store for 20 minutes and never saw anything I brought in being looked at when I passed by the front counter. I noticed a woman came in right after me and didn't see them looking at her items, either. It wasn't busy and the girls were all chatting together. My biggest problem is the fact that there WERE a lot of items in the store that had stains and heavy wear. There was a pair of Adidas pants with one of the knees ripped out for $16. Most of the sports bras were stretched out and faded. The active wear was outdated. There was a PINK hoodie that was faded with pills all over it for $20. In a prior visit there, I liked a really cute hoodie, but it had a huge stain on the front. I asked if it could be discounted and was told it can't, but if I bought it and washed it and couldn't get the stain out I could return it. What??? It was priced at $20. I don't even donate stained or ripped items to thrift stores. They're garbage at that point. The reason they gave for passing was because some of the sizes were small and they showed signs of too much wear. A few items still had tags. They take plenty of small sizes. The one good thing that came out of this is that I went to Uptown Cheapskate right from there and they purchased my items. The employees were friendly and their merchandise wasn't damaged or outdated like some of the stuff at Plato's. read more

My mom was in trading a designer purse and other items and the associate was snickering behind the counter stating it was "too mature for their taste". I was taken aback by the young womans actions who was basically laughing in our face. Little did she know the Chanel purse was worth more than $400 on Rebagg. Suggestion, do your homework before you "giggle" in your customers face and grow up! Shame on your owners for employing such petty and unprofessional associates. If you continue to treat your customers with the same level of "service" that we experienced, I'm sure you'll be the next small business close after Christmas. I think since they have grown people get less back for their traded clothing than what they used to. They say they accept certain brands and it appears so. It's almost better to sell stuff on ebay than bring it here. Not really worth it in my opinion. read more

I brought in a new pair of Juicy Couture heels to sell. Yes, new! They were sitting in my closet for one season, never worn because they were the wrong size. Retail price was $189. Plato's Closet offered an insulting price of a little more than $6. The sales girl said the computer generates the offer. Apparently, the computer is so human that it knows how much to assess the price of new shoes. This is so insulting. While waiting for the computer to spit out my offer. I saw a pair of Vince Camuto heels for $40. VC's retail lower than Juicy Couture. I noticed a lot of cheap shoes and clothes sold at places like Target and Forever 21. I guess they don't like expensive brands. The concept is "we buy and sell cheap stuff." read more

If I didn't have to give them a star I wouldn't. I went maybe 6 months ago and brought a trash bag full of clothes and they didn't take one thing. I thought to myself maybe my clothes are run down so I just donated them. Now today I came with 3 trash bags full, and they took 2 ONLY 2 items and offered me 5$. Keep in mind they were all in good shape compared to there store. So moral of this review I will NEVER go back to that store or any other. Worst experience that I've ever. Don't go there! read more

Never again will I go here to try to sell my clothes. This place is full of themselves and their buying policies are ridiculous. First of all, I am a thirty something year old whose clothing style is pretty much up to the fashion standards of today. Secondly, my clothes, purses and shoes are very well taken care. However, such was not the case when I recently tried selling some clothes, shoes and purses here. How exactly is a denim skirt from the Gap out of style?! Or how is a Coach purse not good enough?! Evidently my never before worn, still have the tag on them sandals from Payless had wear and tear. Are you kidding me?!? And a cute yellow coat from Nordstrom's, which I have seen similar styles of coats being sold in stores recently, is evidently not cool enough!? Because apparently they won't take anything more than a year old. Did I mention I saw a pair of beige wedges from Payless of which I have the exact same pair of but in black that I bought two years ago. So much for their policy! Seriously though, do NOT bother trying to sell your things here because you are better off donating your things or going somewhere that does not have an identity crisis (me thinks they think they are some hip clothing store that you find at the mall with brand new name brand things.) They only bought two of my things, a pair of Bongo jeans and Mossimo cowboy boots (gee thanks) and all for seven dollas make ya holla. NEVER SELL. I just had my first experience at Plato's closet today. I brought in a laundry basket full of like-new and actually new items- many of them the name brands they list on their website- to sell and was told it would be a half-hour wait before they put my name on their board to say my items were finished. That was perfectly reasonable even though I had to bring my baby with me for this trip. As I shopped I was surprised to see that a good number of items were not only Walmart or Target brands but also many were in rough shape- snagged, stained, wrinkled, worn, and fraying. I had previously thought they only accepted things in like-new condition. I tried on a few items and the girl who helped me with the dressing room was very friendly and helpful! After hanging around for over an hour I finally asked about my donations. They had forgotten to put my name on the board when they finished. They chose only two items out of the whole basket and only gave me $4 total. Upon returning home I received a phone call that some of my items had accidentally not been returned to me and now I will have to return to pick them up. What an incredible waste of time. read more
