Dropped clothes off all nice and folded in a small laundry hamper. Went to another store because they said it would take 30 minutes.. no big deal.. when I went back at first they couldn't locate my clothes.. then when they found them she told me that even though I had brands like Pink and Hollister they wouldn't be taking anything.. First of all.. I know I did not have either of those brands in that basket. Second of all it looked exactly the same. They had not even went through the clothes.. I also had my toddler with me so I was struggling to get out of the door with him and the basket of clothes and no one offered to help.. but one of the girls did say "Oh look it's pouring outside I'm not going out there" so rude.. never going back and I don't recommend anyone going there unless you want to deal with rude 16 year old girls.. read more

I'll be honest, haven't been a big fan of Plato's but this trip mid-day today started off making me see some light on it. The selection was amazing and I found some really good finds! But ended up letting the people at the front hold onto some larger items thinking it would be safe there but to my surprise it wasn't. Which brought me back to the no Plato's train lol almost every worker looked like every customer was in their way. Except for a few lovely workers but unfortunately wasn't being helped by them. I get not liking ur job because I used to work at Taco Bell on a college campus and that was one bunk job. But I never let myself treat people like they were in my way and always treated everyone with kindness. But boy oh boy! I'd say they need to retrain them but you can't train kindness. My daughter loves this place. You can find some decent things here BUT... I gave it 2 stars because the employees are a bunch of kids that talk about everyone else. A young gentleman brought in his items to sell, then as they were going through his items on the other side of the counter they were making fun of his clothes using racial comments. This is very unprofessional! This generation needs some serious lessons on professionalism and respect. I really wish management would take this seriously but it doesn't seem that way since I see other similar comments to how these young employees act. I have some friends that have sold some of their clothes and accessories to Plato's before so I thought I would try it out. At first it seemed like a simple and easy process - you give them your name and phone number when you drop off your things and they are supposed to update you via a link when your things have been reviewed. They told me they expected it to take 25-30 minutes so I was back in 30. I called ahead and asked if my order was ready and they told me I would receive a text when it was. I proceeded to wait another 30 minutes until I called again and they told me my order was ready - although the link said otherwise (it said my order hadn't even been sorted yet). I entered the establishment and I told the cashier I was there to pick up some things I dropped off. She did not seem very happy at all - as a matter of fact she was so rude when speaking to me I told my boyfriend "very friendly." She proceeded to tell me there were only 2 things they were interested in - a champion hoody and a champion shirt. She offered me $4.30 and I was appalled as I purchased the hoody for $90 alone and hardly wore it. She rudely said I could just take the items back if I didn't want to sell them. I said it was fine just to get out of there (the rest of the items were going to be donated anyways). My experience with this store and it's employees was very poor. I will not be going back. Ironically enough, most of the clothing items I saw in that store either looked like they had seen better days, or were the ugliest monstrosities I have ever laid eyes on. So I hear on Pandora and on Instagram that they're always looking for new stuff to buy. I noticed an Instagram picture saying that they needed some items which included jackets and jeans. So I brought my jackets in (gently used) and a pair of pants that have never been used. I brought in a Coach purse and some other things that I got a couple of months ago but never wear anymore. After dropping off my stuff and coming back, they said they couldn't take any of my stuff because of wear and outdated. Seriously? I didn't know skinny jeans were outdated. Just took a giant box of clothes to be sold at platos closet. When I returned to gather my stuff I found out just how lazy the workers are. The girl told me "they were going to have to pass due to wear and tear." This is funny to me because 3/4 of the clothes were only worn once or even new with tags. The 1/4 that was on top of the box was my boyfriends clothes, probably with some wear and tear. Had they bothered to look below that stuff they would've found a lot. read more

Dear reviewers, This store is beyond me. I don't understand how popular it got. This is about the management not the employees. The employees are so sweet and nice and willing to help, but it's the way the store is ran that makes it bad. Everything is used first of all and they seem to charge a pretty high price for USED things. I saw a lot of really used jeans for 12$ I know at Ross you could get the same deal for a BRAND NEW pair. Being from Socal, I am use to consignment stores such as Buffalo Exchange, Dee Lux, Wasteland and Crossroads. I went here on the grand opening on Thurs. It was pretty crowded and there was a 30 min just for the dressing rooms. It's a decent size and they coordinate by color. The only thing I didn't really like was that a lot of the things they had were from Forever 21 and H&M. I just wouldn't want to spend $5 on a F21 shirt that I could also get at the store on sale. Also, I go there to find unique clothing that no one else has. But I'm guess a lot of girls really like that. Clothes range from: Dresses: $10-20 Shirts: $3-12 Shoes: $10-20 A few things were more expensive because of the brand. The prices are a little on the steep side for me :/ They seem to be pretty generous on what clothes they buy from you but it may be cause it's new. Many consignment stores I been to were pretty picky. Staff was very friendly and were always helpful. They even apologized to me for the long wait for dressing rooms. They also have a loyalty card that if you spend $10 dollars are they buy from you $10 dollars worth of clothing you get a point. Plato's is usually my first stop to sell my gently used items because they are close to me, usually have a great selection, and the prices are in a good range. I know some reviewers seemed to have poor customer service, but I have always felt the staff to be very friendly and helpful. That was definitely the best part of my visit. Recently, however, I think they might be slipping in their buying section with consistency. I was a little disappointed this last time selling because I had some new, higher end merchandise that they either didn't buy or bought very cheap from me. I even put a couple items in there that I knew had some issues that I thought for sure they would pass on (ie. missing buttons, couple holes) and they accepted those items instead! They were cheaper brands too! All in all, I understand they have to make a profit and fulfill the needs of their target audience. The staff did let me know the break down of the items they were buying and I could have said no at any time. I would just say when shopping here to be careful and check every item thoroughly. Even just perusing down the aisles, I saw a lot of very cheap, sad, worn out clothing. What happened to the Plato's that had more quality products? You can do better, Plato's! For as many times as I've heard great things about Plato's Closet, I'm not sure why it took me so long to go and check it out for myself...love it!! My teenage daughter and I now frequent this location regularly because they always have a ton of inventory, and much of it is super current (on trend). Prices actually aren't as low as some other name brand consignment stores I've been to, but I mean c'mon, we're talking about dollars and cents here. Considering the fact that we seem to have better luck finding not just one or two items but a bunch(!) of stuff we really like here, I'm willing to pay a tad more. The only downsides I've experienced are that they only have a few dressing rooms and so sometimes you end up waiting quite a while to try things on, and you also might want to look carefully at the items before purchasing. My daughter bought a pair of shoes here, only to find out after she got home that one of the straps was completely unattached but had been tucked "inside" the sole so you couldn't tell unless you specifically pulled on that strap. Buyer beware...they are used items. But for the most part, we've gotten great quality. Love this place and plan to go back again and again! read more

I just had my very first Plato's Closet experience and I was highly impressed. I had read some reviews for Scottsdale and Chandler and was nervous to hear that so many shoppers had experienced such poor customer service, but Glendale didn't seem to have that rep. Sure enough the employees at this location were kind, attentive, helpful and overall friendly. The clothing selection was very diverse and reasonably priced. Better signage could help the organization of items but it wasn't too shabby overall. As for selling my clothes there, I expected a little more profit but I wasn't too shocked about that. However, I was shocked that they didn't offer a higher amount in store credit. The local places at which I use to consign would typically offer you less in cash and more in store credit. I am always on the lookout for consignment clothing stores that have name brand clothes at a decent price. I found just the place when I discovered Platos Closet, located just outside Arrowhead Mall. This place has everything from Abercrombie to Marc Echo to Gucci. I usually have a problem finding a good size selection, not here though. Plato's has rack upon rack of clothes in every size from 0 to XXL. And they don't just have clothes. They have shoes, belts, purses, hats, jewelry, wallets and a selection of other knick knacks. Every time I shop there i'm treated with friendly, courteous service. The employees seem to really care if you find what it is your looking for. And lets be honest, great customer serivce is not exactly the norm these days. Platos Closet is most definitely a diamond in the rough worth checking out! read more

I've sold at Plato's closet multiple times and to say the least, I've never been impressed. Today I brought in a probably 50 items and only 4 were bought. They passed up Nikes I only worn 3-4 times, like new VS leggings, multiple Brandy Melville dresses, and more. The clothing in the store is usually extremely used with piling or something a 5 year old would pick out. When shopping, I've found many items that were stained or just falling apart. A few years back I loved coming in here to shop, but now it's no better than Goodwill. I've tried selling Miss Me's in the past (which they also didn't buy) among other designer brands with little luck. Last time I sold they took 18 items for just $40. I wouldn't waste your time here. I would have to say this place has gone VERY downhill in the last couple of years. When I first started coming here, it was a great place to find super cute, cheap clothes. Whenever I brought stuff in, they would usually take a lot of it and offer a reasonable amount of money. Now, it's super hard for me to find reasonably priced items that are still cute. The last time I went in, I bright close to 100 items most of which I've bought in the last six months. When I came to pick up, I stood at the counter for 5 minutes while the girl up there ignored me. I had a little bit different experience here than others have posted about. I actually thought the staff was very friendly, outgoing, and helpful. They said hello and welcomed me in as soon as I came in the door, and I saw and heard them interacting positively with other customers. If this were just based on the employees, I would give them a higher rating. Unfortunately, the actual items in the store left quite a bit to be desired. I saw more items from brands sold at Walmart and Target than anything else. I did see a few things from Forever 21 and Victoria's Secret, but the pricing seemed a bit absurd. In many cases, it seemed equal to, or even higher than the price of the item would be brand new. I went in specifically looking for purses, and they did have a couple of Coach bags, but all were unfortunately in too poor a condition to be of interest to me, and the pricing was not at all reflective of their heavily used condition. For example, there was a small Coach clutch /wristlet that I have one of at home - it had visible wear/stains and damage to the wrist strap. I paid about $50 for mine brand new at the coach outlet. They were asking $45. I would expect it to sell for more like $10-$15 in that condition. It's a bummer because I do love supporting small businesses and I really love 'new-to-you' stuff... keeping things out of landfills and getting their full life out of them and all that - but the pricing has to make sense. read more
