I'm hooked! Sorry BuffEx, I think I like Plato's better. I went here with a friend after checking out Buffalo Exchange and I was very impressed. Their racks were very organized! Either by color, dresses, demin, shoe sizes, work out, etc. Pricing? Inexpensive. I've found a few blouses that were priced at $5-$8. Last week I bought a beautiful dress by Guess with tags attached and only paid $12. That's such a great deal! The ladies that work here are nice, offer military discount, and they have a frequent buyer card. They also will buy your washed/no damages clothing but I personally haven't done it. I have to say I have been to Plato's closets all over the country and this one is by far the nicest. Lots of selection in my size (10), very organized, great brands. And the cherry on top...that girls working here were AMAZING. They were happy and sweet and offered to hold my items behind the counter, because my arms were full! BEST THRIFT STORE evAR.... LOVE love love this place and THIS location in particular. Shout out to Jenny Y. for introducing me to this gem! I always find STEAL deals for super nice blouses and tops as well as shorts, skirts, dresses, belts ~ whatever it is I'm looking for! I literally was shopping once for several very specific items once and was actually able to find them ALL here at one go 'round! As other reviews have mentioned, this place tops Buffalo Exchange because of their stamp card that they offer where you can get 20% off your next purchase! They seem to have more trendy, modern items (less old grandma, too vintagy clothes) at a lower cost. They have plenty of fitting rooms with actual doors (not curtains). The staff are very friendly and helpful! The only tricky thing is if you want to sell your clothes back to them, they've gotta be trendy and modern enough! They're pickier than the other thrift stores, but with good reason. Want an EPIC WIN after you go clothes shopping? This is the place. :D read more

Listen to the other negative reviews, don't waste your time with this place. They offered $6 a pair for $120 Buckle jeans that were only worn a few times, no holes, stains and in excellent condition. Employees (both I dealt with) were rude and unprofessional to say the least. I attempted to buy jeans there and went through about 20 plus pairs of jeans for sale and there was not one decent pair, not one. Look on Craigslist and purchase from honest sellers if you want something worth wearing. read more

Wonderful experience and great customer service! I had clothes that were in great condition but due to losing weight could no longer wear. So figured why not make a few bucks! So I researched a few places and read reviews about Plato's Closet and a couple of others. The first place I took my clothes (Twice As Nice on Broadway) was a horrible experience, and even though this is my first time and I didn't know really how much used clothes go for, I felt really insulted by their offers and was treated badly to top it off. So when I left there I was a little hesitant to try going anywhere else, but decided to commit myself and go anyway. As soon as I walked in, i noticed the store smelled amazing and nothing like a second hand store. It also was clean and set up nicely, with the mannequins dressed in clothing I would LOVE to wear, and to top it off the prices were even better! Then, not only one but two, very sweet ladies greeted me and asked how they could help. I explained this is my first time and was interested in selling my items. One of the ladies smiled and told me to go over by the counter, where she proceeded to explain the process to me, what they look for, and how they come up with their offers. After I filled out the, small and efficient form, she explained it would only be about 15-20 minutes and that I could choose to browse around or leave and they would be able to text me when my offer was ready! Whaaaat?! How nice and convenient is that! I left to grab a soda at the convenience store down the street and sure enough I received a text stating that my offer was ready. The text gives you the message, the address, and the phone number (which I find to be perfect incase it's someone's first time and can't remember the exact streets or location). Upon arriving back, a different lady but just as awesome as the other, assisted me and explained that I had the right styles they were looking for but there may have been little things wrong with the items or they were a little older so they were only interested in just a few pieces. Due to experience at the previous store I assumed my offer was going to be about $2; she shocked me when she offered me 3x's the amount for my few items then the other store did on many. I gladly accepted and left with a satisfied feeling and thought that this is definitely a place I will be coming back to again to sell AND to buy!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND :-) read more

Wow this is the second time I've been to a Plato's closet and heard the employees making fun of people that just walked out for the "awful" clothes they brought in to sell. Very unprofessional. When I thought that was enough they were done looking at my clothes I brought in they tried to offer me 31$ for 15 items. A few of those items included a brand new Michael kors purse, new pair of checkered vans with tags, & 2 pairs of lululemon shorts with tags. That was just some of the items I brought in most of it all had tags on. $31?!?!? They definitely are ripping people off. Although they have great items throughout the store I did buy a couple of items, i wonder how many people they ripped off to get all of their stuff? read more

One of the most anxiety inducing shopping experiences. Half of the staffs masks were under their nose or chin and they made no motions to lift them up. Then a woman who appeared to be the manager came to the register area with NO mask whatsoever. My sister and i wanted to check out but we were nervous to go to the front until the maskless woman left the area. It's absolutely astounding and disappointing that the manager of this place had no mask on and was face to face with customers and roaming around the register area. Especially when there's signs up that say mask required and on google it says they require masks. I felt extremely irritated, unsafe, and like the staff didn't take the pandemic serious at all. Such a bad look from a place that I actually enjoyed shopping at. Hope this changes soon. Probably won't be back for a while. read more

This location is busier than their Oracle location. This location has more items as well, but the quality of items they stock seems better at the Oracle location. I usually enjoy Plato's closet but not today on 8/6/19 around 5:30pm. No one greeted me at the door or asked if I needed assistance they were all caught up in there own personal conversations. Which would have been fine until I realized they greeted other customers who were white. I even asked for assistance and was ignored. It may have just been chance but I probably won't be shopping here anyways it left an uncomfortable and unwelcoming taste in my mouth. I have been shopping at this plato's for years. It has always been my favorite. today, they were having a 90% off clearance sale, so of course I went. As I was heading to the fitting room, I saw three signs on the wall that said "clearance items cannot be brought in fitting rooms". I ask the employee if I can try them on (mind you I only had 4 items) and she said "sorry you can't try on clearance items" with an attitude and no explanation. I spent an hour shopping and to not be able to try on clothes is ridiculous. It is a thrift shop, so clothes may be smaller or bigger due to being washed, so you don't know how they are going to fit. The fact that they did not even have an explanation as to why we can't try on clearance items? It makes absolutely no sense. Angrily, I put back my clothes on the rack and walked out. I definitely will not be shopping here anymore, as they do not allow you to try on clearance items and have an attitude with you. read more

Used to be my FAVORITE store. Only place I would ever shop. Now I hate walking in. Hires the rudest/snobbiest girls and acts like it's an inconvenience that you're there. Went in to sell some clothes and they didn't even look through half of the bags and the ones they did, they didn't bother to tie back up. Also didn't even show me what they decided to buy from me. I didn't want to leave a bad review but it's not just this one time that it's been like this. It's been going downhill FAST the past year. Selection has been too. I'm one of those avid thrifters who always has a selling bag stuffed and ready to go, and Plato's is probably the best bang for your trade-ins in town. They specialize in low-to-middle-end merch - Rue 21, H & M, Angie's, etc. and you'll find some great steals in the athletic wear section. I was tired of seeing $15 price tags on used tees at Buffalo, and when they discontinued the 50% off selection (it's now generally 25%) my loyalties shifted to Plato's. I love the text updates and little Instagram contests, and while I'm not student-aged I don't feel out of place and I like a business model like this. Their sales are meant to move out merch and the staff is young, enthusiastic and helpful. read more

I have always liked the idea of Plato's Closet! I have been a buyer and seller at numerous locations in Tucson and even some out of state. This being said, I cannot get over the experience I had today. I have never felt so unwelcome, even to this location. On today's trip I was wanting to buy and sell. I hand over my two, lightly used shoes (Nike & Steve Madden) after waiting a couple of minutes for someone to acknowledge me. The young lady only took one of my two items acting as if the shoes they declined weren't there. Upon receiving little cash (not location specific), being turned down, and treated like I'm invisible, I put back the item I was considering to buy and went home discouraged. This is a good place to sell your clothes that you're going to give to goodwill anyway, but other than that it's not worth it. Associates are extremely rude and any type of customer service they do is at an inconvenience for them. They offer 4$ for $40+ name brand clothes. Completely not worth it. This is my favorite Tucson gem. I have been going to various Plato's Closets in Phoenix and Tucson for a few years now and this is definitely my favorite location! Everyone is so friendly and sweet. I brought in a box of folded clothing to sell, and when I returned for the items they didn't want, all of my clothes had been wrinkled and shoved back into the box without being folded. The shoes I brought where separated and tossed carelessly among my previously clean clothes. Knowing this chain, they would never buy an item that looked dirty or wrinkled-- so I must ask why it is ok for them to return my items as such. Absolutely the worst. read more

Being something of a connoisseur, I'd rate this as the best Plato's Closet I've yet visited. Lots of options, good prices, and a great (large) selection of clearance. The store was clean, and the sales staff friendly and helpful. The men's clearance in particular was deep and included every season to choose from at half price. Make a point of stopping if you're in the area. read more

I brought in two bags of clothing that their website recommended to bring in at this time of year ( Jackets, Sweaters, denim pants and shorts) and brought them to the front to sell. The girls at the front of the store informed me that it would take 45 minutes to sort through my clothes because two people brought in clothing ahead of me. Seemed like a long time, but I said it was alright. As I turn away from the counter to browse the store, the girl who I was just talking to blatantly insults my outfit ( A black shirt with a plaid skirt) saying "She looks like a Witch from The Craft" and as they sort through my things, they continue to make extremely rude remarks about the clothing I brought in to sell. Things along the line of "Literally why would you bring this in here", "Nope, not taking that shit," You know, the usual things you expect to hear when you come into a place that literally makes their money by selling other peoples clothing. And while I respect that not all my clothing was going to be picked, I was shocked at the blatant rudeness of ALL the employees. And when they were finished reviewing my clothing, they took four items of mine and basically threw all the things they didn't take back at me. In addition to all the rudeness, the girl who was cashing me out literally didn't know how to work the cash register. This place is so bad I literally made a yelp account just to leave a bad review. I'm writing this review as a buyer and a seller, which means this review is going to be a mixed bag. As a buyer this place is great. There are a lot of options available (purses, clothes, shoes, etc.) for decent prices. BUT the items seem aimed towards the 20's age group, which was kind of annoying. Sometimes you want a bigger variety of clothes to choose from besides just a specific 10 years of your life... I feel like these clothes would be what you'd find kids wearing at the UA, or what people wear out to nightclubs and bars-- while trendy, it's only a small percentage of what's out there. As a seller, I was pretty disappointed in this place. They only took one item, but the price they offered seemed fair to me. However as I looked around I noticed they had other items that were similar to mine that I'd brought in to sell to them, so I'm not sure why they turned my items down when they obviously had other items there that were similar in nature, yet different enough that my items seemed like they would have worked for them. Very confusing. The associate working there who helped me was really nice! That was definitely a plus. Overall this is a good place to buy, although the clothes do seem geared more towards the young, 20-ish crowd. To sell your items though, they need to be in great shape, in style currently, and very specific to what they are looking for. And even then they might not accept your things. So overall this place is probably better to shop in rather than sell to, unless you have all the right "types" of clothes they are looking for. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I DEFINITELY WOULD. First of all, I know someone who used to work at this location and she says everything they buy is based off their personal view- so if the employee likes it or not. Which is ridiculous because more than half the people that work there have no style sense and wear pajamas to work all the time! Second- they DONT ACCEPT ANYTHING!!! I've brought in clothes NUMEROUS amounts of times for them to say it's "not in style" or "has too much wear and tear" like I obviously wouldn't be bringing clothes if I knew they were old or raggedy? I bring in stuff that I KNOW is good so I can get money in return! And it's not just me! I know handfuls of people who say this happens to them!! THERES LITERALLY MEMES ABOUT YOUR STORE! Seriously. Google "Plato's closet memes" like you guys sell the most ridiculous ugly clothes but won't take decent ones because your employees wouldn't wear it? I'd also like to know if the clothes being 'modeled' by the employees on their Snapchat get washed? If not that's disgusting. Today I brang in a BRAND NEW SLIP ON DRESS FROM VICTORIA SECRET THAT COST $50 BRAND NEW- I needed the extra money so I was willing to sell it, they had the audacity to tell me IT HAS TO MUCH WEAR AND TEAR!! I Went in there to sell them my clothes. I took mainly new clothes or gently used that was bought at the mall. Some still had tags on them. I took about 30 items. They told me that there was people ahead of me so I decided to leave them my clothes there. I got a text back saying it was ready about an hour later. I went back. I saw my bag still full of clothes and the girl told me they only wanted six of the items. Those were a lace two piece, a dress with a tag on it of 32 dollars, and a couple of crop tops. I asked her how much I would get for the 6 items and she told me $11. I was amazed! I took all of the items back home. Its not worth your time going through your closet and picking out the clothes you would like to sell. Just don't even try, they're unfair. read more

I'm 25 now so maybe my age puts me slightly out of their target demographic but I have to say in the 3 times or so I've tried to sell stuff here I'm really disappointed. Everything I own is some kind of name brand- not saying it's all high end but the brands they look for - American Eagle, Express, Forever 21, Coach, Victoria's Secret and so on. I always bring 3+ bins and I'm lucky if they take 10-12 items. It never fails - it's like they have a policy to only buy 5% of your items. I totally understand this is the way they operate and it's their choice what they buy, but the $30-$40 cash I get for sorting, folding, packing and lugging bins of clothes to the store just to take most of it home just isn't worth the effort... I can't see myself attempting to sell her again. The pro is I will say their selection of clothes isn't bad, no great, but I've been able to find a few things before to purchase and the prices are reasonable. read more
